We boarded our dog at Camp Bow Wow for 2 nights at this facility in July. While she was there she was exposed to Bordetella and is now very sick. It's extremely upsetting that this facility is apparently not as clean as they claim to be. And apparently do not check to be sure all animals are vaccinated. The facility where the dogs are kept look absolutely nothing like the website pictures show. It is rows & row of greenish/gray painted fenced like kennels. Very depressing looking inside this place. We completely regret boarding our dog here. Be careful when boarding your dog here!

Bordetella is responsible for canine cough which is an airborne virus. This can be caught in any social setting such as boarding facilities, dog parks, dog stores, or even in your own back yard. The cleanliness of a facility has no direct bearing on canine cough. There are documented instances of canines contracting canine cough from a neighbor dog on the opposing side of a fence. Dog day care and boarding facilities are very much like child day care facilities. Having your canine socialized runs risks of sickness just as sending your children to school or day care runs risks. Much like humans, a canine immune system can be directly effected by exterior stresses such as lack of sleep, unfamiliar surroundings, over exertion, travel, or simply ebbs and flows of seasonality. Owning dogs of my own, they have all contracted canine cough but it's far more important to me that my dogs be social than not contract what amounts to a common cold. No immunization is 100% effective. Just as our flu shot is hit and miss, having a Bordetella vaccination is not 100% effective. According to my veterinarian, it doesn't even ensure a 50% success rate. To this day I continue to use my local boarding facility even after contracting canine cough. Through investigation and research of my own, I completely understand it was no fault of the facility. What is important is how they treated me and my dog.
