I don't know anything about downloadnova, but I do know that 1) They did NOT have the files I wanted when I searched their site before I became a member (in other words, I searched their site before I was a member, got some hits, paid the $5 for a trial membership and . . . the files were no longer listed when I did my search again), and 2) I find it EXTREMELY disturbing they post most of their files on rapidshare. So in other words, I paid for a member ship for a LIST of files that I have to wait 40-80 seconds to start downloading (and at sub-par speeds), unless I want to pay MORE money to rapidshare.com??? WTF?!?

Long and short of it: I'm glad I only wasted $5 on them, and not $40.

I tried to sign up for your site, and it shows that I did, but when I try to do anything it comes back saying I must be logged in. Can you please help me with this problem If I need to be given a new password just send it to my email. Thanks,
Joanne Hook

Same here! They have kind of taken over a huge number of search results. They usually come out with the word "accident" or other vague descriptions of the file. This is extremely frustrating, I wonder how they even got listed as a torrent. I knew they were not legit, but now they're everywhere, every time there's a search on torrents. Somebody please get this guys out!

Watch out for them. They say they are going to charge you for $4.97, then they sting you with another $1, and another $1, and you suddenly find yourself signed up for other sites, which are going to take money out of your account regularly. You need to immediately cancel these memberships. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THESE PEOPLE.

Indeed, get them the hell away! Nuke em, or whatever, just get them off my screen. No matter what u search after, there they are. Take this for an example;

I just signed up too, and got "no hits for your search" on a file which they claimed to be ready to let me download moments before. Too late, did a search on baydownloads, and found this site. I've taken the precaution of cancelling my credit card, and getting a new number. I've called the baydownloads "customer support" 800 number (800-934-1875) to cancel my membership, and they told me I need to request a refund of the $4.87 via email to support@customersupporthelp.com. I don't know if this will succeed or not -- maybe they'll tell me they can't refund the credit card because they don't have the credit card information, having farmed that out to a third-party "for my protection." If they don't simply refund the amount, I'll dispute the charge with the credit card company. Since I contacted the credit card company within minutes of making the bogus charge, I don't think this will be a problem (& like somebody else mentioned, at least it's only $5).

My attempt to get a refund through customer service via email was unsuccessful - I received an email from "Michelle" informing me that trial membership fees are not refundable. So, nothing left to do but dispute the charge with my credit card company, which I will definitely do.

The site is a complete scam. If you are not logged in, you can type ANY garbage into the search field, and they'll claim they have it -- just added it this week, in fact. Once you log in, they don't actually have anything.

WHOIS says the website itself was only registered in August 2008, but how many people check WHOIS beforehand. DownloadNova was registered in January 2008; I guess their reputation for bait-and-scam finally got around, so they're hanging out a new shingle.

I'd recommend that anyone who did give them credit card info just bite the bullet and cancel the card altogether. DownloadNova has a reputation for adding more bogus charges once they get your info, and they clearly don't have any scruples. Their method is outright fraud, so don't believe them when they say they've cancelled your membership, or $4.87 is all you'll ever be charged. They lie. They make their money by lying. They're lying to you. If you've given them information, you need to make that information worthless to everyone as soon as possible.

Call your credit card company, cancel the card, and ask for a new card with a new number. Tell them the $4.87 charge is fraudulent, and not to accept any further charges from ANYONE. If you don't, you're just asking for trouble, because they'll pass your information around to all their crooked friends, who will try to charge your card themselves. Sure, since it's fraud, you should be able to get the money back, but why expose yourself to the hassle?

I can help a bit with how I canceled. I signed up for the $4.87 torrent access. Next thing I know I'm on a porn site, another and another. So I check my email and I have 2 charges for $4.87 and 5 for $1 each. I tried to got o the sites and cancel before the 3 day trial ended and at first had no luck. I didn't know the third party who had my account. Anyway, if you follow the link in the email they sent with the credit card charges to the account site and look a little link that says click it if you forgot your password it takes you to the place to cancel. In my case it was ccbill and I took each of the account #'s and canceled and got a conformation on that via email. Waste of money but luckily I only got burned for about 15 bucks. One more day and the monthly charges would have totaled about $60. Hope this helps.

Try typing ahfoiugshdfiuhoasduihf or something random into their search. It says they have it.

Guys,
I recently fell into the trap and paid $4.87 for 3 day membership. The after reading this site I called up my credit card company and they gave me a number to call. The number is 1-800-934-1875 and told them that I want the membership to be canceled. They told me that it will be canceled and I will be no longer billed. I also received an email stating the membership has been canceled.

they only showed up when I searched for somerthing that there was no results for, claiming they had it. But just now, they didnt show up when my search didnt get any results, perhaps their reign of terror is finally over?

Brilliant scam idea. Someone must be getting REALLY rich given all the traffic they are sure to get from torrent sites.

I just fell for the same trick. Saw a Manchester United match for download - paid the $5 and lo and behold, the match isn't available on their site. I cancelled my credit card and called the 1-800 that someone gave above, and was told that my membership was for an adult web site, (!) and that it would be cancelled - email confirmation to follow.

Wow, thanks god I found this site and its precious comments before I signed up for this baydownload crap. I was just about to give in to temptation before I decided to google it under "baydownload + scam" and here I am.

Thanks to all sites like this one who can help us figth back against these bastards. But hey, we play so much with fire messing around with illegal stuff and such an unregulated playground so the odds of getting burned is real.

hey people. i had problems earlier... just got a email back from someone called donna after sending one to support@customersupporthelp.com. her email is donna@platinumbucks.net. i would suggest emailing her if you cant get through on anything. like i couldnt. also she did say that you can cancel online at www.customersupporthelp.com. although i couldnt find how... anywayi told her to cancel and she did it. its a horrible scam. if i didnt cancel then i would of had $80 taken out of my account everymonth for things i didnt want like porn and things that dont exist. i will now check on these sort of websites before i pay for anything else now. brilliant! saved me alot of money, and being caught out. cheers guys. if anyones got any questions to me or needs help like i did, you can e-mail me on chazdj333@hotmail.com.
