I came in to K-mart to have batteries changed on two watches and a new watchband on one of them.
"Can I help you, sir?"
"I'd like a two new batteries and a new watchband."
"Did you purchase these at Kmart?"
"No."
"Then I can't help you. We can only work on watches purchased at Kmart."
"Why?"
"It's our policy since the first of the year."
"Then why was I able to get a new battery on Tuesday for one of my other watches here at Kmart? She asked if I purchased that watch from Kmart and said that she could not be held responsible if it was damaged and I said that it was a cheap watch and she changed the battery."
"That was a violation of our policy. Do you know who it was?"
"No." I did know that I was not going to turn someone in that gave me good service.
When I was there on Tuesday I also went to the snack bar. How much money are you losing by this policy in other departments?
