Mediacom - Iowa, Ankeny - Cancellation Fee

We've had Mediacom service for 20+ years between cable tv, phone to internet (now only internet). We are moving and contacted Mediacom to turn off service in existing home and turn on in new home. Mediacom is not currently in the area of the new home and is charging us to cancel- even though they don't have service. For being a loyal customer for years- they are horrible. Worst. Service. Ever....

Mediacom - rebate address failed

I mailed the rebate form to the address on the form: Digital Landing, Attn: Rebate, P.O. Box 260157, Miami, FL 33126. The letter was returned with the Post Office label "Not Deliverable as Addressed, Unable to Forward." I was supposed to receive a $100 rebate.
What recourse do I have?...

I recently fell for another one of Mediacoms cons. Ironically it is pictured in a window to the left of this box. $69.95 per month. Ooops wait thats a totally different scam. Mine was $69.95 per month if I switch from Satellite which I did. My first bill was $142.

I was a new customer. When I contacted Media for the first time, I requested that my current phone number remain unchanged. I requested phone and internet service. Upon installation, my phone number had been changed to a new number. Additonally we (my family) noticed that we could only get wireless access in rooms close to the router. I called aboout the change in my phone number. I spoke to David in customer service. I was told it would take 5 business days for the number change, and David indicated he would call me back. We cancelled our cable on 1/9. Paid for service until 1/14. Returned all equipment with confirmation of cancellation 1/12. We've spent over 5 hours fighting the bills that keep coming for continued service and unreturned equipment. We've had someone come to our home late at night to pick up equipment that was already returned and now we have a collection agency threatening to ruin our credit for a balance that was paid in full and equipment that was returned with a tracking proof of delivery!...

We have had nothing but problems with mediacom since we started using their services! Internet is horrible. It goes out constantly. Customer service is awful! They are so rude and unhelpful. We tried getting phone service through them, and they said they couldn't because our address didn't exist, even though we already have Internet through them. They made us go through a huge process, and automated phone called us about it 3-5 times a day! This went on for nearly a month, before we finally just gave up on getting phone service. I have had nothing but trouble with my cable TV, internet, and phone service with Mediacom. I have their VIP service (joke) which bundles all 3 for a discount. When I have trouble with the TV or Internet I usually have no phone as well so I can't call to complain. The phone service is unreliable often dropping calls or not accepting outside calls. The cable TV experiences tiling, loss of picture, freeze frame during "ON DEMAND" programs. Whenever we have bad weather we will have days of poor service with all 3.

Mediacom's services (tv, Internet, and phone) are the absolute worst. I became a customer in October 2010 and have been highly dissatisfied with my services that I pay $130+ for a month. Phone line has not been working for well over a week, Internet crashes at least 6 times a day and has to be reset, and the HD is grainy and unreliable. I was nice enough to get cable under my name for my roommates while I was in college. It was my last year in california until I moved back home. Upon moving out I returned all equipment and had my bill paid. The lady at the office was nice enough and collected my returned cable modem. I realized on my credit report that it's in collections for not returning the items. Now I have no proof that I did because it was a while ago, so now they are asking for over $300. I had someone in the area hacking internet networks and downloading movies, so I got a letter claiming copyright infringement.. In Dec '10 I got turned off by Mediacom, Christmas week for a week and I only found out about why I was turned off by calling their customer service number. I was told copyright infringement.
Last week my service was again turn off and the same scenario I called them to find out what the problem was and to my surprise it was again copyright infringement and I am permanently off their service.
No call, no email, no warning. Did I have security for this?...

Mediacom - what a joke!! I have used them (no choice) for less than seven months. They have been to my house 4 times. If it rains or windy, the phone and internet service ar up and down up and down! Not all the tv stations work all the time. I call and I have to wait till next week for a all day apt for them to come and look AGAIN!! Before moving here I had two other companies and Never had any problems like this. My computer has to sit in my childs room because the tech didnt feel like installing a jack somewhere else!!!...

Why is it that I, as a long time Mediacom customer, am NOT eligable for the current promotions with lower rates.

I pay over $170 per month for cable, internet and phone.

Mediacom is offering the same service to new customers for $89.95.

I have never missed or been late on a payment. What did I do to deserve this?

I called customer support and they are willing to adjust my rate down to about $130 per month if I agree to a 12 month term.

Why can't I get the $89.95 rate that the new customers get?? "Well, you are not...

Mediacom modem goes out Saturday night - I call in at 11pm and I am writing this at 2:15 am. I go through all of the trouble shooting when they finally accept that the issue is their modem - to which they tell me they will attempt to get a technician out on Monday. I earn my living through the internet!!! I pay on time every month so they can make their money but when I am in need they do NOTHING!!! I will cancel mediacom ASAP on Monday because nobody is working over the weekends. It is mindboggeling the vast number of complaints against this company and nothing ever gets better....

I switched to Mediacom in 2009 with a very persuasive sales person named Tod, who gave me a great deal for 2 years. After 2 years, I decided to switch to another provider to save on costs. I contacted Mediacom 2 MONTHS before switching, and was told that they much have at least a one week notice & my account would be noted regarding internet/television. I was told that my new provider would call Mediacom to disconnect my phone themselves, so that my home phone number could be ported over. I was also told that the account would be pro-rated for one day (the time of cancellation to reset by new carrier)....

We have had Mediacom cable at our vacation home for a long time. Even though it is ludicrously expensive, we consolidated telephone and internet service to Mediacom as well. Partly just to have one bill but there should have been some savings as well. Not happening. For one thing, we've never been able to even get repair service without providing account numbers, mailing addresses, owners name, pin numbers and drivers license numbers but now for some reason they decided to allow anyone in the house to order whatever pay-per-view they wanted. The service provided to me by Mediacom is appalling. I have waited over 1 year and 3 months for it to remedy a fault in its cable connection at my property. After numerous excuses and no shows you would think I would be smart enough to walk away from Mediacom and get Direct TV or another provider.
