YMCA refund

Needed to cancel membership due to health issues. Submitted it in writing and emailed it to the office. Had paid for personal training and didn't use two sessions. Contacted the membership services via phone and email. No response. Emailed the director and a month later still no refund. Just sent another email to the director yesterday and still no response. What can I do other than placing a complaint thru BBB.

YMCA member discrimination

My name is Han Wei, an international student. I joined the summer program of YMCA Coney Island.

On August 22, 2019, I arrived at the gym at about 1pm. I had checked the gym's schedule before I went and knew the Murray studio would be available between 1:05pm-6:30pm (Photos of the YMCA schedule online and on paper taken later that day attached). I stayed in the studio (preparing myself) for about 10 minutes when a group of people showed up saying they were summer camp and they wanted to use the room and asked me to leave. I told them their activity was not on the online schedule and not on the physical copy attached on the door of the studio, I also showed it to them. They asked the manager to come. Without any regard to my position, the manager, Aerial Mathis insisted me to leave and go to the equipment room. First of all, why I can't even choose where to exercise given that I was a member, I followed the gym's schedule and I came first. Second of all, I explained I needed to lie down on a mop for my exercise and the other room was full of heavy equipment and people waking around all the time carrying heavy weights, it was dangerous and disturbing. I once almost got injured. Her only response was "no you weren't injured otherwise you would complain". Do I have to be actually injured to be qualified to have the freedom to choose where to do my exercise? She didn't care at all. Some other staff also came and they surrounded me. I had to leave under the pressure and asked if they could open another room for me. With great reluctance they opened another for me, Aerial said it was a "great courtesy" and I should thank her.

Another director, Justin Martinez, said if I found the Murray Studio open, I should automatically be aware that something will go on inside. It was nonsense, all gym members who go there constantly can prove that the studio is always open and that any individual can go inside to exercise, and all we have been told was to follow the schedule.

I was very upset and felt mistreated and disrespected by the gym management. It was supposed to be their job to arrange the schedules for the gym. How difficult was it to put up a schedule for the summer camp and post it online or in the studio? They were the ones too lazy to do their job but they just asked the customer to compromise for their breach of duty? And when there was a conflict among customers they just kicked out the one they felt easier to get rid of? Was it because I am a foreigner or an Asian woman all by myself? I was a member I paid my fees I should have the equal rights same as other customers. Why I can't have the freedom to choose where to do my exercise but the others have superiority than me? This isn't discrimination or what?

It's not that I can't switch place but it's the gym management's attitude that was extremely inappropriate. Even if they weren't able to set up and post a schedule for the summer camp, the management was supposed to OFFER to open up another space for either party in this situation instead of asking me to leave. I have my work and life too, I followed the gym's schedule to schedule my workout. It would be unfair and unreasonable if I had to wait outside when other people showed up any time and ask me to leave.

It's 2019 now this kind of thing still happens in this country?

I have attached the whole gym's online schedule of that day, as well as all the physical copies of schedule & notices I was able to find in and around the studio that day. None of them mentioned the summer camp activity, or that the other members shall make room for the summer camp when there's a conflict. The summer camp that day including the kids all saw this that day.

About half of the members of YMCA Coney island are Asia, will this be a good influence to them?

I have to get a response from the YMCA about this.

YMCA unfavored conduct noticed: uncharacteristic of organization

Hello. I gladly thank and appreciate my local Door County YMCA for (being) about the good Christian qualities they strive to live. Now, understanding the Christian's guidebook, the very Holy Bible, I read that God wants people to dress modestly. I will need to continue this message in two more letters as this matter requires more space to write. I'm so apologetic to you about this.

I expect each Y worker to therefore come to the understanding that when it comes to swimming, modern swimming attire for men or women are very skimpy-I think I need to mention that for women, the entire leg is shown. As for men have you ever noticed that well, the men swim without any covering for the upper body? The Bible's book of Leviticus is specifically where one can find what God says about our clothing modesty. I believe that each Christian willfully grows at various speeds and levels and not all of us will be aware of every one of God's ways at any time. I have learned to become patient and understanding with myself and others. I notice that the Y is a Christian place, so I gladly expect them to be among people that are "good", Christlike examples for others.

Now, it may to some individuals, sound strange to know about such personal, yet wise words of (Christ) here. To meet that matter as I think is very thoughtful, when it comes to God Creator whom I have experienced his life-changing Goodness from, he is my Savior and everything (and it is all about him, honestly and not about myself.) I respect any and all opinions because we all matter. Thanks.

YMCA child care (before and after school program)

My daughter attends the before and after school program at South Bloomfield elementary, in South Bloomfield Ohio.Since the start of the school year it has been a headache, mostly with trying to get ahold of the billing department, I was afraid of falling behind with my payments, knowing I had a co pay.Since the start of the school year I kept trying to figure out where to go to pay my co pay, what I have to do to get it paid and my balance. After three weeks, I was finally told my balance and where to go, by then my balance was way high .after all that the next week I found out that the county couldn't back pay for the first few weeks, so I called the county and got things settled to where they could, robin reached out to me and told me she would get back to me on what my title twenty caseworker says, days gone by and still no response.Eventually the county won't accept attendance for Aug because it'll be to late, and I'll be held responsible for over 300 in private pay charges.Im a single mother, I have a child that has medical issues, so I'm having to take time off work for his stuff, I struggle as is, and now I'm faced with having to come up with all this money due to the lack in communication with the billing department, and not having things fixed in a timely manner .

YMCA employee complaints

We have had one horrible experience after another with the YMCA in Festus, Missouri that has caused immediate and continued medical attention due to the negligent and discriminating staff associated with the basketball program. I have spread my experience with everyone so they can avoid this business and not have to endure any pain and suffering this business and their awful employees, who are unqualified and irresponsible, have caused to my family and friends.

YMCA before and after school program

This is my first experience of partnering with the YMCA for their homework services to help assist my child after school care. I'm highly disappointed and frustrated with this program. I have not received any of those homework services being rendered to my daughter. My daughter has been coming home for almost three weeks with incomplete homework. I have made multiple complaints on different occasions to have this resolved. I have requested multiple times to speak with the supervisor over the program. I have also left a voicemail for a different complaint with supervisor about a different issue I had about the program for lack of accountability of my child for hours on one occasion, which has not been followed up nor resolved. I have also spoke to staff to give them specific instructions of how the homework should be complete, which also has not been resolved. This is unacceptable and unprofessional which is a direct reflection of the company.

YMCA primetime after school program

Completed registration and payment or arrangements for payments. Personally spoke with manager everything was ok and completed and paid. Today recieved late notices for non payment for dates paid and dates not even billed for yet.
A new manager took over our YMCA it has been a nightmare trying to register our children which have been in this program going on 5 years. The manager accepted our payments in person by check and then personally took late notices to the school for these accounts. I'm speaking for several families. The program at our school enrollment has just about been cut in half, due directly to this manager. We've never had these problems before this school year. He personally assured we'd be paying the same fees as last year then 2 days later it was taken out of our bank account at a higher amount. The children love the program but what we've been through recently with this manager has us ready to drop your program. Please call Linda Whitaker at [protected]. We'd like to know where our payments went.

YMCA summer camps

I've noticed this summer that the ymca camps are out of control with not enough staff nor camp counselors guiding and correcting the behavior of these kids. On my first occasion last week, a boy approximately 12 was staring me down trying to bait me into a confrontation. Literally staring and staring while camp mates were running around the locker room unsupervised going in and out of the sauna and steam rooms which is not permitted for their age. They are running and whipping each other with towels and cause total mayhem. As a paying customer this is unacceptable. Zero supervision. Next incident 8/2 10 am I was walking past a group of young female camp kids and one gestured her hand right near my space like a slap for no reason and began staring and laughing. It shocked me and came inches from my face and was unprovoked. When I complained to the pool administrator she was kind and apologized and spoke to the group of kids. Not her fault she tried but the kids coming in here are causing problems daily. They are disruptive, unsupervised and have had a 2nd incident with one of the kids baiting me into a confrontation which I did not. While leaving the locker room on 8/2/19 this same day I was almost slapped, a group of camp boys were in a corridor waiting to go to the pool. 15 boys were running wild and whipping each other with towels I couldn't even walk by. All while camp counselors stood by and did nothing. Eventually YMCA employees calmed them down. As a paying member this is disgraceful to have to be subjected routinely this summer. Where are the counselors and supervision. And what's with stare downs and baiting.
I have also noted that numerous children have their hair hanging out of their bathing caps! Hanging down six inches. My wife who. Has long hair fits her hair in her cap. These children need to be instructed how to put their caps on, or refused pool entry. This is a health risk and the health department will be notified. Trying to get your hair in the cap but failing is a poor excuse. One set of rules! Put your hair in the cap or no pool entry. This needs to be taken care of by the YMCA. This YMCA is becoming out of control and needs immediate restructuring if the camps by YMCA from corporate, supervisors and all employees.

YMCA daycare unclean

The daycare supposedly has a cleaning crew that comes after hours but the bathrooms reeked of urine odor and the floors have the same filth patterns that they've had for months . It just accumulates to the point of no return. They facility is full of children so there should be enough income to have at a weekly cleaning service at the least, that cleans the floors, the staircase and railings and the restrooms because we know that germs result in illness especially in children with compromised immune systems. Please let me know if this is not an issue that you handle in direct me to the proper authorities thank you in advance. Whitney Ross [protected]

YMCA discrimination, intimidation, unprofessional staff, keeping people from joining ymca

I enrolled my son and my daughter in the La Crescenta, CA YMCA for the summer student special in which you pay $75 dollars per membership for 3 months. The second week my daughter took a class in which the teacher is a man named Ethan S. His class is very intense and he gets angry if the people who go and exercise in his class don't keep up. He was pushing my daughter very hard, mind you this is her first class with him, and she got an epileptic attack as a consequence. The ambulance was called and she was okay, and decided not to go to the emergency. But we left home for the night as she usually gets very tired after she gets them. The people taking the class there told her to do it at her own pace, specially a nurse who goes to the YMCA to do exercises in that class. So she decided to take the class again the following week. I told her before she did this to take breaks if needed and do it at her own pace. Ethan seemed to be supported of this, and she made it through the class. But after everyone left, Ethan approach my daughter and told her he did not want her in his class. He told her according to my daughter that it was because he worry about her health and he thought she was not prepared for his class. He told her to work on the free machines until she was strong enough to take his class again. My daughter told me, since I have ask my kids to tell me everything clearly because you can never be too careful and they just gotten used to that and always tell me everything. When she told me, I felt Ethan was playing with my daughter's innocence just to keep her out of his class. I went inside to confronted him about how he could not keep her out of his class, that YMCA is were all people of all walks go to exercise. That you do not need to be very fit, that elderly and people with disabilities can come and exercise. I told him I was going into the dance classes and that I am out of shape too, but none of the teachers ever told me not to come to their class. He said to me that his class was different so that was the reason there was a waiting list. I told him I believe the reason there was a waiting list is because of the limited space. And my daughter had put her name in the list, and waited her turned like everyone else, so why shouldn't she be allowed to be in the class. She had gone to his class do it at her own pace and she did not have any epileptic attack so she should be fine. He got angry and said to me, that she got through his class because most of the time she was just taking breaks, and I feel she is a waste of time, and she is only occupying space, which others who are capable of keeping up with his class could benefit, but they are not there because she took their space. And then he directed himself to my daughter, and said to her in a firm manner "I thought we talk about this Eileen", and to whom my daughter responded "I am sorry sir, but I tell everything to my mom and she believes you are discriminating against me because of my disability". But then he said "you should not exercise if you have epilepsy, and that is my opinion." I said to him, "please don't discourage my daughter she has to exercise for her health and she don't need to be discourage. Also I don't like the remark you made about my daughter being a waste of class space. I want to talk to your supervisor". He gave me the name of the supervisor which is Kelly. In the car, my daughter told me not to call Kelly and that she believe Ethan was sincere. She was going to build up and when she was more fit she was going to signed up for his class again. After that the staff and everyone who is part of that class (members) were being friendly. The members ask her why she was not going to the class she explain, and some said we are cheering for you, while the nurse including myself still thought that there should be no reason why she could not be in the class and that she must have to prepare for it. She was very happy, telling me how Ethan and everyone was being friendly and talk to her all the time. On Thursday July 18, 2019, I took my kids to YMCA to work out. I wait in the car for them because of my daughter condition, so just in case she gets and attack I am readily available. My daughter text me telling me that a woman name Kelly had confronted her and told her that she did not wanted her to talk to the staff, that they were there to work not to socialize. My daughter fell of the cycling bicycle she was riding on because this took her by surprise and she injured herself. Kelly did nothing to help her and left the place. Another man came to my daughter's rescue who saw the whole incident and gave her an ice pack. In the car I told my daughter I had enough of what they were doing to her, that no one should be bothering her. And that the staff should not be talking to her if they knew Kelly had prohibited. That she should had confronted her staff, and perhaps place a memorandum saying that no one who goes to YMCA was allowed to talk to the staff. That I was going to email Kelly to let her know what I believe all these drama was about which was the fact that Ethan had discriminated against her, and that he was scared that he was going to get fired because he knew he had done something wrong and that he did not wanted her in that particular YMCA because she post a threat to him. As he was not doing his job and he was discriminating against the disabled. My daughter went back to exercise and then she came back because the guy who had provided the ice pack told her she had injured herself and should not be exercising. On her way out of the building, the girl working at the front desk confronted my daughter telling her that she was stalking Ethan and that she had all eyes on her. My daughter told her that Ethan was a liar, and she did not understand what this was all about. My daughter told me what had happened, and I decided to confront the girl at the front desk. I told her that Kelly said for my daughter not to talk to the staff, and like I told Kelly that it was the staff members who talk to my daughter. And that she should stopped talking to my daughter. I told her I feel like I need to buy a membership to just to make sure my kids were safe there and no one tried to harass them. She started screaming frantically saying "are you crazy, do you think we are going to let you get a membership here? you are crazy!" Then she added "you and your daughter are both [censored]ing crazy in fact all you are crazy, my partner will not come to work on the front because he is afraid of your daughter, and I am afraid of you all, and [censored] I am going to call my supervisor." When she got Kelly on the phone I said are talking to Kelly I want to talk to her too since I been wanting to talk to her. She then said "[censored] you, I am not giving you my phone to talk to you, you people are weird." I responded to her saying "No I just want to talk to Kelly can you please put her on the phone?" She then walked to a phone that was on a pole by the entrance of the place and started to dialing. At first I thought she was going to have me talk to Kelly on that phone, but then she scream at me again and said she was calling the police. I am not sure if she was talking to the police, but I wanted the police and Kelly to hear me. Explaining that she was calling the police just because I told her that I wanted to talk to Kelly and if she was on the phone, she could talk to me. I am not sure if the police told her to let me talk to Kelly, and that is the reason why Kelly decided to arrive at the location. We were talking to Kelly about what I believe the reason behind Ethan saying he was afraid of my daughter was because he had been discriminating against my daughter and that he was afraid all of these things would blow on his face. She stop me from continuing saying she got that on the email, and she had forward it to her boss, and that when her boss was back she was going to set a meeting and meanwhile for my daughter not to come to exercise there. I told her that this place was the closest YMCA to our home, and I did not see why I had to drive far just to have my kids exercise there. Plus we only have a membership until the end of the summer, and I purchase it for them to exercise. That I was going to get a membership there, even thought I did not care for it because I felt I had to protect my kids. I also told her that I will be video taping the times that we would be there just like they were doing. That Ethan claims that he was afraid of my daughter, yet he was following my daughter all the time. So I don't understand why if he is so afraid of my daughter, why is he following her around? I had caught him staring at my daughter a few times, and I found it odd. To this Kelly respond, "well he works here" and I responded saying "yes, and my daughter works out here". So I told her go ahead and set the meeting meanwhile I will get a membership to protect my kids, and I will be talking to my lawyer to have a clear understanding what our rights are here. You guys will maybe get sued. We are requesting not to be harassed and not to be discriminated from attending any class at our local YMCA. I also do not see why someone who is hired to work with people of all walks, and is obviously is unable to do so should work there. And thinks it's perfectly fine to harass the people he does not like by making false allegations against them for his own protection. I think he know he has done wrong and is covering his back, and getting others to help him. YMCA is a family business that welcomes people of all walks and ages, besides having disabilities or not. The people who the YMCA hires should understand that, and should be able to work with people. I think Ethan cannot do that, since he has a very nasty attitude and should not be working with people if he cannot do it. Plus he is getting everyone in the YMCA to help him get his way, and is training people to be rude to others.

YMCA error billing causing nsf within my bank account

In June 2019, I applied for my son to attend YMCA Day Camp at Messmer St Mary. I receive WI Shares for day camp payments and I had to pay $30 for registration fee, in which I gave my bank card information for payment. When calling to have Childcare Authorization set up, WI Shares only was able to pay a portion of the bill, due to the YMCA did not have their summer hours listed. I called the YMCA (161 W Wisconsin Avenue; Suite 4000; Milwaukee, WI 53203) to inform them of this and was told that the will have someone correct the error and inform the the State, so that I can receive the correct hours and payment. I received notice from YMCA, stating that no payments were received and that my son could not attend day camp until payment was received. I had no other choice but to submit the WI Shares partial payment on file. I repeatedly tried back to see if the YMCA updated their hours to no prevail. On June 21, 2019; I received my 1st NSF notice from my bank stating that $5.75 was paid to YMCA and NSF of $27. I immediately called YMCA, no answer left voicemails. When I finally was able to reach someone June 26, 2019; explained the situation, was told the hours are now correct and I should call WI Share to update the Authorization and call them back. Contacted WI Shares, updated Authorization, received the additional funding to be paid to YMCA for June 2019 Billing and was unable to get back in touch with anyone via phone. On June 28, 2019; received another NSF Notice from my back stating that $5.75 was paid to YMCA and NSF of $27. I continued to call YMCA, leaving voicemails and July 17, 2019; someone from billing returned my call. Explain to representative the situation, she understood and check into payments. She stated that they will refund the two (2) $5.75 payments, however, they normally do not refund NSF. She went on to say that they sent out an invoice via email, which I never received it - probably went to SPAM if it was sent. I told her that it was the YMCA fault for not having their correct hours listed, that the WI Shares wasn't able to pay the full invoice balance. That I was the one who called to have the YMCA correct it and my bank card on fill was for the registration fee only. She stated that she would check to see if the YMCA would make an exception. July 18, 2019; the representative called back confirming that the YMCA will refund the two (2) $5.75 withdrew from my account and only one (1) of the NSF Fees. I inform that this was not acceptable. It was not my fault, my card was not to be charged for anything but the registration fee, the YMCA did not have the correct hours, so the State of Wisconsin could only pay the hours that was listed and I never received any invoice stating anything. I feel as though if the YMCA, knows that the billing errors are ALL their fault and to "save face", the YMCA only agreed to pay one (1) of my NSF. WHAT IN THE WORLD DOES IT MATTER IF A INVOICE WAS SENT TO ME STATING WHATEVER? IF THE YMCA HAD THEIR HOURS CORRECT IN THE STATE'S SYSTEM AT THE TIME I WAS TRYING TO ENROLL MY SON IN THE DAY CAMP PROGRAM, THE YMCA WOULDN'T HAVE TO WITHDRAW ANYTHING FROM MY BANK ACCOUNT, THEREBY, ELIMINATING ANY NSFs.

YMCA after school programs/classes etc

The YMCA as a whole is trash! They talk about community building and doing good work but they do not pay summer camp employees fairly. If employees are going into overtime they go in to system and change hours so that it looks like they aren't. They list a persons hours as one thing but tell them something else all in the name of not paying them. Of course when questioned they guilt people by reminding them that the Y does good things for the community and "think of the kids/do it for the kids." To top it off supplies are not always available so certain people have to pay out of their own pockets in order to keep the camp going. I am truly disappointed at knowing this because like everyone else I thought that a nonprofit would be better/ do better than private corporations. Nope, just as bad if not worse because they pretend to be good people.

YMCA user-friendliness

User-friendliness
So I travel from Indianapolis to Minneapolis to visit my grandchildren maybe twice a year and usually go to the YMCA to work out I pay a fee. I am told now that is not acceptable you have to be a member so if I understand this properly you are a federally funded organization I am a veteran I am also a member of the clergy and you have no exceptions to this rule. As Clergy I also take exception to the fact that you have Christian in your name which as I look at your organization I see you doing just enough good to look good and feel good so that you can charge higher fees then most clubs so I cannot afford to be a member in your facility you cater to those that have money when I drive into your parking lot I see Mercedes-Benz, Toyotas anything but something that would reflect an organization that is giving back to the community. It is my intention mount a campaign to expose your corruptness To tie your claim to be a Christian organization with the Christian organizations in America driven by money and prosperity focused. You reflect what's wrong with America not what's right. I know harsh words from a clergy but when Jesus saw hypocrisy he let loose.

YMCA ineptitude of senior management, for golden isles ymca brunswick ga

My wife and I have been members of the Brunswick Georgia YMCA for approximately 14 years. Although we are happy with the members and local employees we are very dissatisfied with the decisions by senior management. The exercise equipment in this facility is in poor condition and so crowded together you can hardly use it. In addition, the physical and sanitary facilities are filthy. A year or so ago a decision was made by senior management to move all the exercise equipment onto half of the basketball court. Recently, that decision was reversed and the equipment with the exception of free weights was crowded into smaller rooms. The free weights remain on the basketball court with a plan to move them to a room formerly occupied by the Core Zone Room. (This equipment was moved to Darien, Georgia and is no longer available.)
As much as we have enjoyed our membership and contributing to Y charitable causes we are seriously considering terminating and joining another facility unless things improve.

YMCA perry ohio

I am writing to notify that I think it's completely uncalled for that when the kids/adults in the bigger pool are required to take a break that it's ok for them to hoard the kiddy pool. There should/needs to be rules and regulations that they should follow. Example: height and age
It makes our time with our 1 year old unenjoyable because we cannot be in the water when the big kids come in. She shouldn't have to worry about kids running through the water nearly knocking her down and splashing her. This is absolutely unnecessary and absurd that there isn't any rules for the kiddy pool.

YMCA being unfairly discriminated against by a couple ymca employees

I've gone to this Ymca in new britain for a long while now to use the pool&try to help me stay healthy, etc.. whenever I use the family/Disabled locker room I've never had a problem using it to change&take my time because (I'm Physically Disabled) from neck Surgery, Diabetes&Low back pain! Recently I've been Unjustly&Unfairly Harassed&Discriminated against by a few Ymca new britain employees who work mainly up Front. This Is a FACT&two of the employees are black men who "Apparently Don't know much less Care" when someone like me is (Legitimately Disabled)&Still get Harassed&Discriminated against for using a Locker room to help keep me safe in case I Pass out from type 2 diabetes which I Did Pass Out for about 10 mins due to Very low blood sugar level! I Want EVERYONE To know how much they Not only Don't Care about someone like me who's disabled, some of the Employees who work Upstairs do it Intentionally&Only Care about Themselves!👎Will be Ending my membership to this Ymca Very Soon&(I Strongly Advise) Anyone who thinks about wanting to join this facility to Have Second thoughts&Don't put yourself through this kind of Unwarranted/Discriminatory Situation! Best advice is to NOT join here.

YMCA failure to honour promotion offered to compensate for warm water training pool closures for weeks in 2018 for pool repairs

My Name: Joy Blake
Email: [protected]@humbermail.ca
Client Id# 3143552
Member since February 16, 2018

I attend North York, Ontario Canada YMCA and only attend the facility to use the warm water aquafit as I am recovering from a vehicle accident and that is the only form of exercise I can do. Also, I cannot use the regular/the main pool as the water temperature is so cold it sends my body into shock.

Last Summer due to repair on the main pool I did not have access to the training pool where the aquafit classes are held for a few weeks. The water exercise is the only thing that helps keep my feet swelling down. In addition to the inconvenience of not having access to the warm water pool during renovation, when the pool was active, a lot of patrons along with myself had difficulties staying in the pool while participating in a 45 minutes aquafit classes for the full duration, as the water temperature was too cold in the warm water pool.

I sent a message to your head office in Toronto as no one at the York York branch was able to do anything, find a solution or know who the patrons should speak to about these concerns. I would hear it in the change room and sauna all the time females complaining about the facilities and the lack of concerns from your staff.

I am more frustrated because due to my accident I am not able to work and is on disability benefit which is not enough and rely on my family to give me funds to pay for the YMCA membership. I pay for 3 months in advance each time to motivate myself to leave home as otherwise, my low energy leaves me unmotivated to leave home. So, when I pay in advance and cannot use the facilities because it is closed, then I waste that money.

After my complaint to the Toronto, Canada head office on Yong Street, I was contacted by the North York Bayview /Sheppard manager name Slobodan Stojanovic stating he's the Director of Aquatics and wanted to assist. We met and I shared my concerns along with some of the same concerns affecting other members.

Slobodan then agreed to help make up for me not having access to use the aquafit facilities, he would offer me 2 weeks plus membership. I had some trouble with my car and it took a while for them to diagnose and fix the issue so I was without transport to get to the YMCA. In addition to my car issues, I traveled. I received an email from Slobodan saying that the 2 weeks plus membership was good and he could add it to my account so I could use it in the future.

I renewed my membership and paid for 3 months+ 7 days prorated in advance to start on Sunday, June 9th, 2019. I messaged Slobodan with the email he sent requesting that he can now proceed to add the 2 weeks plus membership promised to my account. This would be a good transition to have access to warm water or hot tub while I transition back into the warm water aquafit pool and its varying temperatures.

Sunday I got to the pool for my first day and the training pool was closed. I drove there wasting my gas without any health benefit. I simply sent a follow-up email to Slobodan reminding him to add the 2 weeks plus to my membership account. Slobodan replied the 2 weeks plus membership would start June 11 to June 25th. I replied trying to confirm further if the 2 weeks plus membership was to start today June 11, what date does that extend my 3 months and 5 days (paid )left from my paid membership to?

He said he would have some person name Katie Lowe call me. She called me and I find her to be uncaring and unsociable. She admitted she did not know the full story behind why I got the 2 weeks plus membership but that the only way it will happen is if I use the 2 weeks plus membership, it would be taken off my regular paid membership. She also said even though she was just hired in February 2019 as Sales Manager, she stated Slobodan had no authority to make such an offer of 2 weeks plus free membership to me.

I find her rude and insulting. Claiming it was simply as a goodwill gesture which I either chose to trade for 2 weeks of my regular membership or not get the 2 weeks plus membership at all. The 2 weeks Slobodan offered was not contingent on me giving up any of my other paid regular membership. She made it seems as though I am just looking for something free and was not entitled to anything.

I feel different as it was membership I already paid for and was not able to use due to your renovation closure that Slobodan was trying to make up for by offering the 2 weeks plus as compensation. I use to hold YMCA in high esteem and used to work in the community before my accident as a Business Advisor. I was also in a community volunteer outreach group that would share with people about places like YMCA and the different services they offer the community.

I advised both Sloban and Katie by email that I will be taking this further and including the media, member of parliament and anyone I can share this with to let people know about the other side of YMCA. In addition, I am a web designer who has a review website in addition to my other sites and will now gladly share my experience on my review site that will, in turn, auto post my reviews to multiple social media platforms across the web, thus allowing me to share my reviews further.

This is unfair and I am tired of having to deal with these confusions and ups and downs with YMCA when all I am trying to do it simply working towards maintaining better health even with my accident injuries. I was planning on being a champion for YMCA and even last night was sharing with two different people about the benefits of YMCA. Now, I will never see your company in the same way again.

Katie Lowe was like a politician that offers her spiel, trying to schmooze people into accepting what she has to say.

She was out of touch with human emotions and only cared to show she was in charge and what she says goes. Why should I be caught up in YMCA politics of your members trying to show up each other as to who is in charge and who can override the other's decisions?

I under nothing is perfect and things happen in the real world so I am not looking for perfection. I am not looking for what I have been getting from YMCA either. When my accident lawsuit is over, I will part ways with YMCA for good.

There so many issues but no one to address them. I also asked your staff on Sunday and ask Katie again today. From last year I wanted to try to attend the gentle Yoga class. The class is for 55 mins to an hour. The aquafit registration form only comes out 20 minutes before the start of an aquafit class. If I arrive an hour before the aquafit class starts the registration form is not yet out for aquafit so I can only either go to yoga or go to aquafit class (one or the other).

You would have to end up spending almost 4 hours at the YMCA to be able to attend yoga, then wait for another almost hour to 3-4 hours depending on the day to be able to sign up to attend aquafit classes after. There is no way of scheduling 2 classes in a day to utilize the day at the YMCA. It just isn't set up that way.

I asked if it was possible that they could put out an aquafit registration form so if I arrive an hour for a yoga class I can then sign up to make it in the second aquafit class as the yoga and aquafit classes usually start within the same time frame if you are at the Y for that time. Again as expected, Katie who is the no person was quick to say it is not possible.

I rather to be contacted via email listed above, since when there are phone conversations there is no accountability and people say things they can then forget or deny or if someone moves on or take over like is my case presently with Kate saying she is Manager above Slobodan and will not honor his promises.

Summary: I was promised 2 weeks plus membership for past inconvenience of not having access to paid services due to main pool closure and me not having access to warm water pool.

I was also promised that if there was issue with accessing the training pool (warm water aquafit pool) and I am not able to access the facilities that if I were to notify Slobodan, he would allow temporary access during those times to plus area so I can continue to have access to warm water/hot tub which helps my body swellings as since my accident warm water pool activities are the only form of exercise my body can withstand.

Your representatives mainly Katie has refused to honour promises made by Slodan before she was hired as Sales Manager.

Below I have included some of the long email threads exchanged between Slobodan and myself to get to a resolution of me not having access to use the warm water pool. According to Katie none of this will be honoured.

Hi Slobodan,

This is Joy Blake a patron of your Bayview Sheppard Ymca. You can read the email threads below to jog your memory. I am in touch with you as you had promised me I'd get my 2 weeks promo back in December but since my vehicle wasn't working and I was traveling and would not be able to use the facilities, I had suspended my membership.

In your email directly below this, you replied "Would you like to keep this for another date in the future? Or you like me to grant two weeks plus membership promotion? Or you like me to grant two weeks plus membership promotion?". I have reactivated my membership so far paying for 3 months+ 7 days prorated in advance and is emailing so you could please add the 2 weeks to my membership. I would prefer the "2 weeks plus membership promotion" to start out with if you could arrange it for me to transition back into my aquafit routine.

I hope that this time around I won't be experiencing the fluctuations in Luke warm to cold water temperatures of the aquafit warm water pool as it was in the past.

I am supposed to be starting Sunday my aquafit June 9th. If possible, If I could start the 2 weeks plus promo before going into my actual full month which starts the 16th, that would be a nice treat.

Looking forward to hearing back from you with confirmation.

Sincerely,
Joy Blake

Hi Joy,

Just to follow up, I was about to grant the promotion I promise, however, the system is saying that you have a valid membership until May 7 2019. Would you like to keep this for another date in the future? Or you like me to grant two weeks plus membership promotion?

Hi again Slobodan,
Thank you for your time today.

You asked me to let you know when my next payment becomes due which is on Dec 16, 2018.

Regarding our discussion where you asked me to email you when the training pool is broken so you can arrange an access pass to the plus section, as I mentioned, I would prefer if you put a note on my file with this arrangement, just in case you are off on a vacation, etc when this happens.

Thanks again for your time and suggestions like using the family area.

Also please remember to check into my suggestion of extending another subsidy threshold for people/ persons with a disability needing access to warm water.

Sincerely,

Joy Blake
