How responsive is Woolworths's customer service?

Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Woolworths handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Woolworths and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Woolworths pure harvest coconut milk

I am extremely upset with the advertising of this product on google today for $2 for minimum order of $30 but when I tried to place order it says $3.50, I was shocked!

After a few calls to the local store, online chat line and 1800 phone online representative could not honour the promotion.

I shop at Coles and found them to be easy to shop with but my experience with Woolies is not better!

Why would you not honour the mistake and not take accountable for this promotion?

As a shopper I find Woolies false leading in advertising their products and won't hesitate to share my experience if this is not solved.

Woolworths customer service

I went into your South Fremantle store this morning & stopped at the deli section to buy some chicken, when I got there, one of the girls was serving a lady there, the other was bagging chickens to put out, while she was doing this another customer asked how long they would be, she replied very curtly "in a minute", once she put them out I naturally thought she would serve me, but no, she ignored me & went up the other end to serve a gentleman who recently walked up, so I let that one go thinking I'll definitely be served next, but no I was ignored again while she served the next man standing there, I walked off & wasn't going to worry about getting the chicken, but I did need it so went back. I was the only customer, so this young person had no choice but to serve me, when I asked why she ignored me before when I was there, she stated that the man was before me which I know was totally untrue as I seen who was there when I walked up & she was busy bagging the hot foods. When I asked ok so why did you serve the other guy before me, she didn't answer only asked what I wanted. I've worked in customer service & know how important it is, people like Kayla in that store really need to be taught on how important it is & if a customer is unhappy with their service how about a "I'm sorry I should of asked who was next", not just a shrug & walk off after getting my product.

Regards
Denise

I have never seen such a dirty place as Woolworths in coolalinga Darwin. It has been awhile since I have been in there so I thought I would go I and see if things have changed. But to my surprise it hasn't.
As soon as I walked in I noticed blow fies all over bread roll, which I think have been freshly baked. Chicken defrosting on a shelf near the flour, red meat next to cereal.
People that work there are the most unfriendly retail staff ever, there weekend planning is more important to them than to bother with serving a customer.
One Woolworths staff run in front of me almost tripping me over so they could get to the check out. Not once did he turnaround and say sorry or are you ok.
All this is a big NO NO for me.But I no nothing will be done about it.
So I think i will not be shopping there.

Woolworths customer services

Today evening I visit caltex woolworths balywn, top up fuel with coffee, ask the cas for any good offer for chocolate he didn't respond, I have find myself, later he didn't ask for loyalty card. Even he don't have any name badge. On my request he accept it. I moved out with coffee, away from forecourt, where there is no danger sign around was smoking. My location was such that I can't even see the forecourt. That guy walk to his car and saw me, come to me started yelling in a rude tone on me what u doing.. Why u smoking here.. I said its safe and pretty far.. What if anyone smoke on footpath next to forecourt and switch off the cigarette accepting my negligence. After he said get the [censored] out of here loudly twice. I said him what u said.. He raised his hand in attacking attempt and said again get out of here. People around starts looking at me. He said em gona call cops, my boss.. Started taking pictures of me and my car. I said yoo bro, are u in sense, as I said I switched off cig the next moment why u yelling rudely now.. He again raise his hand and shouted get out. This time I abuse him.. I was so dumb, embarrassed and shivering because of his tone that I was not able to drive. I stayed in car for a while but he was still shouting. I have too many questions,
1) what the people using mobile phones when fueling up.
2) when I already accepted my negligence and was going, how dare he tried to threaten my by rising his hands and shouted at me.
3) I always prefer woolworths over others, but I think I am done.
4) I had explained the 100% truth scenario, I want answers, for what reason he he said me get out?
5) is that caltex how good the caltex costumer service is.
6) I am the researcher in chemical engineering.. And happy to defend my location was safe for me and everyone.

Woolworths customer service

I live in a small town called Carnarvon and as a very regular customer of Woolworths I have never had a bad experience until recently.. Not once but twice with the same staff member.

She is the manager at the customer service desk an older lady but I did not catch her name. Anyway my first encounter with this staff member was when I arrived 2mins to closing which I fully understand why I might not be able to enter, however I begged if I could just grab a tin of baby milk I would be 30seconds, note at this time customers were still in the check out putting through alot of items so I thought slim chance but wouldn't hurt to ask, when doing so this staff members reply was "Don't be stupid!" frowned at me and walked off. I replied "A simple no would have done love" to which she turned around and shooed me with a gesture using her hand.

Next encounter two days later I was buying tobacco at the service desk and all I said when asked was "Can I please get a packet of Winfield gold 50g a packet of blue Rizal papers... Then she interrupted and said"see these (shows me her hands) I only got two of them so one thing at a time. I replied "dont worry about it I'll go elsewhere with that attitude".. she ignored me and looked over my shoulder and said "next please".

I find this Manager at the service desk to be very rude very abrupt and definitely needs to be talked to about her customer service and attitude.

I worked for Woolworths for a wonderful 5 years as a manager and only left to start a family. It is a company that I still recommend friends and family to apply for it because it can be a career and options are endless. But I am majorly dissapointed in seeing such a team member representing such a great company in a negative way. The current team working there is fantastic and I believe Carrisa the store manager has a good crew in there at the moment but one bad apple will rot the team and truly believe I am not the only one this lady has been unprofessional and rude to. I will still continue to shop at Woolworths as I am a loyal shopper but will wait as long as I have to not to be served by her again.

Carnarvon, WA Woolworths shopper.

Good on you for expecting better. It constantly amazes me that people like this manage to get good jobs with (as you said) good companies, whilst so many others (that would be far more capable) are unemployed. This woman sounds like a piece of work, and a terrible representative for the company.

Woolworths customer service

case 1: the item scanned Wrong price at Woolworths, harbour town Biggera waters, got help to fix the price, I paid by cash but didn't get the right change. I thought something must be wrong with the machine and was trying to tell her the background story but the supervisor was gave me a strange look as if I was complaining about 60 cents short change. She didn't utter a word except the strange racist look.

Case II: I read about the Woolworths 700 cage free eggs being contaminated with salmonella and being recalled. It didn't say about QLD however, after I read that I realised my husband got fever for the last two days. As a consumer, I was very scared and went to talk to Woolworth at surfers paradise. I showed the post to her, and the eggs I bought. The lady wasn't happy to hear that. I understand that there was nothing mentioned about QLD . I didn't go to get my money back. I won't be rich with $3.90. I was there with a query and she was like" you don't have receipt, I will give only $3.00. This is not the way you treat your customers. Everyone is worried about their health, so was I. On top of that my husband was taking parasol for fever from last night. It's certain that I am anxious. Everything just don't relates to money. You have to have a patience to listen and think what would I do if someone treated me like that. It's feels so sand that such a giant brand have poor service system or may be some people never change.

I couldn't stop myself from writing from today's incident.

Woolworths Online order no 34363108 and 34411198

I ordered 17 pecs of gillette mach 3 base razor plus 2 blades 3 pack on 19/03/2019 and I got only 8 pecs only. Then I called to 1800000610 and one of your officer name opeti told me he can reorder balance qty free of charge and delivery will come following day 5 am to 8 am. I was waiting for that form the morning but didn't received.

Then I called to that no and asked the reason for that. Then that officer explained me run out the stock. Then I asked to to speak to one of your supervisor called jamie and explained told me the same reason.

Generally your staff spoke me in a rude way and my problem is if you are not enough stock you do you proceed the order.
After 34363108 I done 34411198 on 20/03/2019 order and that one also you processed and today morning I got the mail you are out of stocks.

What type of game you are playing?

I ordered this items for donation and I promised them I will send these items soon. But now i'm in very bad situation to face them. Actually you put me on down.
My problem is if you are not updating your online system customers will face more trouble.
I believe this is against to the consumer law and I will inform this other relevant authorities also.

Thanks

Was about to consume it, but luckily saw it in the nick of time.

The packet was purchased from baulkham hills woolworths.
The packet was purchased mid feb 2019.

I expect a refund for this item as I ended up wasting the whole packet.

Woolworths customer service

It is absolutely disgusting how rude the old hag was at the self service checkout.
Not only was she rude and arrogant she also was trying to say I didn't scan some pf my products she was trying to say I was stealing

I think you need to look very closely at your old workers they have the vibe they are better than everyone else.

After I payed for my groceries I asked for my tiles she snatched my docket out if my hand and went through it to make sure I had paid for everything with a angry look on her face. Not only did she do this but she gave me my 4 tiles and didn't even apologies or anything.
Very rude and has no clue about good customer service.

Just because she is older does not mean she can treat people with disrespect. You really need to teach your staff good customer service!

I will not be shopping there at booragoon ever again and I will pass on to everyone I know.

Woolworths woolworths brand vanilla creamed rice

Bought three cans creamed rice, opened two to find the rice wasn't cooked properly, not much rice in it and it doesn't taste right. I have the other can. Id rather let you know the product isn't good than just get my money back. You need another recipe just saying that truthfully. Happy to give you recipes but i'm sure you can find some good ones to make them more eatable.

Woolworths customer service

Hi, Woolworth in Marriot Waters, Melbourne needs a lot of improvement on customer service and stop the tricks they play with price dropped labels. One staff schooled me that the label just slipped to the next shelf and no apologies or anything professional one can expect! Photos attached and you can easily see the juice at the bottom Nothing but has never been $8.50 but they put price dropped to $8. A customer should not work on what label belongs where, it has become ridiculous. How many customers just go and get it looking at all these price dropped labels? What is the management doing and when the staff had their last training? Some staff is so rude and should deal with themselves first before going to work in a public sector. Appalling!

Woolworths woolworths delivery driver

On 17/03/2019 at approximately 2.30pm I was driving home from the Woolworths in Bell Post Hill, Victoria. I was at the level crossing and the car ahead of me had decided to pull out and do a U-turn so I waited for them to do so then slowly began to move up towards the next car in front of me. A Woolworths delivery truck (one of the smaller ones) zoomed up on the inside lane and swerved dangerously in front of my car almost collecting my passenger side front panel. The licence number of the truck was 1LV 7KV. The driver looked to be of Indian descent and was in a hurry as I then watched him tail gate the driver in front of him to then slam on the brakes so he could veer around a corner onto a side street. He was driving very dangerously and should NOT be driving a car let alone a truck! Extremely frustrated and concerned that this type of dangerous driver is on the roads and working for Woolworths!

Woolworths cheesecake passionfruit.

I am complaining because the crumb at the bottom of the cheesecake is very crumbly like sand. There is nothing binding it together.
I didn't service this cheesecake as it was very messy upon serving .

Disappointing considering the price Woolworth's are charging for their cheese cakes

As a consumer I would not purchase your cheesecakes again. Will go to Coles and check out theirs.

When removing the wrapper it breaks this is really annoying and makes it hard to remove the remaining wrapper. Please resolve this with the manufacturer its been going on too long.

Here's something that would make your cheese above the rest. Place for example an arrow (say black) on the rapper side where its starts to be removed. This would make it so much easier knowing where to start removing the wrapper.

Good idea don't you think!

Woolworths woolworths car insurance

I am a current Woolworths employee, I have 2 Woolworths car insurance policies! 1 policy is up for renewal, I was very shocked to see my policy increase for the year, as I have never made a claim, my car value go down, but my policy goes up. So I call to talk about my renewal, instead of start shopping around. I wanted to stay within my company I work for! The operator "Keith" couldn't do anything except tell me to go online to the woolworths staff benefit site and go though there to get a better policy! no reduction offered, even tho I have another car policy with you with my already staff benefit applied! He told me how does he know I am a team member? anybody can say they work for us! sorry? I said because of my staff employee benefit card, which is also applied to my other policy! Still said he couldn't do anything to better my policy and I needed to go on the site do it myself and then call them back and we can see what we can do! 2 things is very wrong with this, one as an already existing customer to be told, I have to do all the work and call them back, to stay with your company and take my money is appalling customer service! not to mention im already working for this company! 2 to not offer any discounts to keep an existing customer for the sake of any reduction, you are willing to lose $800+ a year for no reduction, is not good business sense, in fact it make zero sense to me. I a going to start shopping around, and is very disappointing to think not even a customer or employee is worth anything to this company.

Woolworths macro black beans

Have just opened a tin of black beans to find they have degraded inside. Beans had disintegrated and smelled very bad, completely inedible. This is not the first time this has happened - about three times in the last six months. The tins are not damaged, so why is this happening? Very disappointing as macro is usually a fantastic brand, but this is starting to put me off.

Woolworths produce far from fresh; wrongly advertised fruit; price vastly different between stores

I find at this branch their vegetables and herbs are not up to scratch, on Thursday 28th Feb, I needed a leek and the only one there was not fit to feed the pigs, half the time broccoli and continental parsley are yellow.
I purchase an advertised red dragon fruit on the same day when I got home and cut it open it was a white one, all of their white dragon fruits are labelled as red dragon fruit.
Price of figs at the Hume Hwy Casula branch $1.00 each, same figs at Fairfield Heights $1.20.

Woolworths 1) woolworths homebrand triple action chlorine 2) the woolworths customer claims team legal services group

This matter relates to serious chemical burns sustained by using Woolworths Homebrand Chlorine. See pic.

Below is an email sent yesterday to The Woolworths Customer Claims Team who are totally disinterested in the matter. I can send full details if you give me an email address.

My details: Name-Peter Brooke; Email - [protected]@yahoo.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Geoff,

Also attention Vanessa Thorburn

Re: Home Brand Product - injury to Peter Brooke Ref: 459686
Re our call today, the Australian legal position is basically as follows in relation to the sale of products which cause harm.
As we all know, under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), consumers can seek compensation from manufacturers if the product they purchased causes loss or damage. These losses or damages can range from economic loss to physical harm such as an injury to a person who has used the product. I have used your heavily promoted Home Brand product as a result of which I was injured. That's common ground….yes?! I wasn't even aware that Zodiac Group Australia Pty Ltd existed before Woolworths flicked me and said that I was to go after them and not Woolworths.
The packaging on the product clearly states that the chlorine is "Woolworths Homebrand Triple Action Stabilised Pool Chlorine". Front and back, bold as well as fine print, it's all Woolworths Homebrand Triple Action Stabilised Pool Chlorine. Woolworths used its brand identity to sell more of the goods. See below what I purchased. You have this on your file, of course, but I wonder if anyone there has even looked at it and considered the legal ramifications of the wording of the packaging. I know that you hadn't seen the photo as the file had just been dumped on you and I doubt from the tenor of the conversation that you have bothered to look after said conversation.

Anyway, the packaging is obviously a marketing ploy, pure and simple, to engender confidence with consumers thereby selling more product and making more money. If the product was labelled "Zodiac Group Australia Pty Ltd Triple Action Stabilised Pool Chlorine" it wouldn't sell as well, would it?! Good for Woolworths to have the power & might to be able to do that, but with that form of power commercialization comes a high degree of responsibility to your customers, as well as ethical standards along with corporate responsibility.
Have a look at how Woolworths heavily promotes its Homebrand products (for profit):

Are you aware of the definition of ‘manufacturer' under the ACL? I don't think so! The ACL also defines a ‘manufacturer', which includes businesses involved in the following activities:
• making or assembly of goods;
• importing goods where the manufacturer does not have an Australian office;
• uses their brand identity to sell the goods; and
• promotes their business as the manufacturer of the goods or allows another business to promote their business as the manufacturer of the goods.
The actual manufacturer is generally the first in the line of distribution. If a manufacturer develops and makes a defective product, they may be liable for that defective product. Manufacturers are often the primary party held liable in defective product lawsuits.
The retail store that sold the product does not also have to be the manufacturer to be held liable in a defective product lawsuit. Because the retailer is a part of the distribution chain, the retailer may be liable for the defective product. For defective product lawsuits against retailers, a plaintiff does not even have to be the buyer.

The definition of a manufacturer under the ACL means that a person can be deemed to be a manufacturer, and therefore potentially liable for problems or defects in the goods, even if they had no role in or control over their manufacture. A person can also be both supplier and manufacturer (deemed or otherwise). Despite you telling me that you knew that Woolworths could in no way be considered to be liable under the ACL, with respect, you were quite wrong as I was trying to tell you.

The actual manufacturer not relieved of liability if there is a deemed manufacturer. The categories within the definition are not mutually exclusive and, importantly, the actual manufacturer of the goods will not be relieved of liability because there is also a deemed manufacturer.

Woolworths touts that "Woolworths, corporate responsibility has always been about doing the right thing". Woolworths' words, not mine. Do you think that treating consumers in a shabby fashion as you have treated me in this matter is "doing the right thing"? We all have our standards, Geoff, but I wouldn't have thought so.

You also told me point blank in response to my question on the topic that Woolworths & Zodiac have not spoken about this matter. Really!? What if I told you that I had direct information from someone with a conscience within one of the two corporations involved that this is certainly not the case? In any event, do you really believe that Woolworths and Zodiac would not be talking after an event like this, or maybe even embark on a concerted course of action to ignore me in the belief and hope that the matter would die on the vine?

Kindly have someone who is knowledgeable and in a position of responsibility respond within seven (7) days confirming that we can deal with this matter sensibly.

Also, for the record, Zodiac has failed to respond to my claim apart from acknowledging receipt of same and confirming that the matter has been referred to the correct department.

Yours faithfully,
Peter Brooke
