Wild Onion Maine Coons The cat is not purebred

I purchased the cat from that cattery a little under a year and a half ago. The kitte was born on May 22rd of 2022. According to contract, the guarantee that it's going to be Maine Coon 100%, but the DNA test results shows 73%. Her one grandparent was not Maine Coon at all, according to the test. Here is the link of the results.

https://www.wisdompanel.com/app/s/3mb7sy9

The cat is not as big as a typical Maine Coon cats and cannot be bred. I asked some money back, but in response, was offered give them back the cat for free, with no offer to replace, or exchange, nothing. I haven't heard back from them for a year already.

This was my first purchase of Maine Coon and they took advantage of it. Stay away from that cattery.

Desired outcome: Replacement or refund

Wild Onion Maine Coons cat breeder/sick kitten

My husband and I purchased a male kitten from Wild Onion Maine Coons in March of 2018. We received a tiny and sick kitten in May of 2019. During the adoption process there were multiple red flags as well. Rude communication and a lot of disorganization.

Firstly, when I asked for my kitten to be registered and what the process of getting that done looked like, my kitten was roughly a month old, Nanette became instantly rude and defensive. She accused me of not believing her kittens were 100% Maine Coon, also accused me of wanting to breed my future male kitten and asked me if I wanted my deposit back. I was completely thrown off guard. I simply wanted my kitten registered because on her website it stated we could do this. I had no idea that it would turn into such a huge deal. I simply thought I was purchasing a pure bred I wanted him registered. This was all communicated through email. I wrote it off as miscommunication and how sometimes written words can come across the wrong way. When we picked up our kitten, we did not receive any of his bloodline papers as promised. I was informed I would receive them in the mail in a few days as she was disorganized and needed to find them. We never saw them. In addition, a couple of months ago I contacted her asking for my cat to be registered. I needed him to be registered in order to enter him into a fine art project. She did not know his parents, had no record on him. Again, she blamed it on poor organization and remodeling in her home. She promised me I would get it in a few weeks. Never received or heard back from her.

Once we picked him up at 8 weeks old and took him to our vet less than 24 hours later, we discovered our poor kitten was extremely sick. According to the one-page document from the vet at his 6 week check up he was 2 pounds then. When we all realized our kitten had not gained any weight but lost weight in the two weeks since the vet visit, we went into crisis mode and started testing him and seeing what was wrong. He was pledged with constant vomiting, horrible diarrhea, and had fluid building up in his abdomen. Our vet was in complete shock that we had received such a sick kitten from a breeder.

Upon a lot more visits to our vet over the course of the following two weeks, our vet informed up the fluid in his abdomen was indicating a very bad disease and that we should contact our breeder immediately. Our vet prepared us for the worst. Once speaking to Nanette about our very sick kitten and informed her of everything the vet told us to tell her, she proceeded to say that our vet did not know what they were talking about and that our kitten was not sick at all. Just an upset stomach. That they were just ordering tests to get money out of us. She told us not to follow our vet's advice and to simply give him a probiotic. She also said in the event something happens to him, she would offer us another kitten to replace him. We were angry, upset, and confused.

We continued to follow our vet's advice and eventually our kitten started to slowly get better. Through a lot of heartbreak and many sleepless nights and help from our amazing vet office and their staff, our little boy grew more stable. A year and half later, our cat has had constant GI issues and a horrible vitamin deficiency that we must supplement addition vitamins and powders to help control his convulsions. He has food sensitives and can only eat certain types of foods. He is still skinny and has issues gaining weight. We are fine paying for the additional costs in food and supplements. We knew this was a possibility when we decided to bring any animal into our home. It is never about how much we have to spend to keep him healthy… BUT, our vet has indicated that she believes he is inbred, and therefore he has all the additional health issues. We should have never received such a sick kitten.

We believe this breeder is strictly out for the money and does not care about the wellness of their kittens. Nanette was extremely unprofessional throughout the whole process. We hope no one else purchases a kitten from this woman. No one should have to go through what we did. We were lucky and our kitten grew into a wonderful addition of our family. But he almost didn't make it. Every visit to our vet, she tells us he would have never made it if we hadn't been so diligent with his care. We warn people of this breeder when asked where we got our cat from. We do not recommend purchasing a kitten from this breeder at all. There should be an investigation into the cattery. There is clearly something very wrong going on.

Hello Stefani,

I am so sorry you are so unhappy with your experience with my cattery so much so that you took the time to write such a lengthy complaint with out even giving me the opportunity to resolve your grievances amicably.
I wish that you had called me first to discuss this in person before you took such an exhaustive painstaking effort to defame my reputation.
I am open to try to help resolve your complaints and if necessary after review of Gigabyte's medical records to consider compensating you for medical expenses and medications. If there is a condition that was missed by my veterinarian I certainly would have appreciated knowing there were issues as this was the first time I was made aware in your accusatory post.
Kittens are delicate babies, heath conditions can change very quickly, I have even included this in my Part 3 of my adoption agreement, Heath Concerns and Services.

I would have appreciated the opportunity to discuss your dissatisfaction in person to in order to resolve your disputes and displeasure with this adoption.

Regarding Gigabyte's illnesses
I truly wish you would have picked up the phone and contacted me before you took it upon yourself to bring this information out publicly, I was totally uninformed regarding his health and shocked to learn about his condition thru this complaint board!

I will request access and permission to your veterinarian so that I have full understanding of what was going on with his many conditions you listed,
This will allow me a fair opportunity to access his diagnosis and medical treatments,
I take my business very seriously these kinds of accusations are very damaging, I believe I deserve he opportunity for fair informative response to defend my side of the story.

Regarding registration:
My contract states clearly that registration is available for an additional $25 fee with TICA once I have received proof and documentation that an adoptive clients kitten has been spayed or neutered.
It is evident that you did not read your contract throughly.
I regret that you had to take this out publicly and felt you wanted to do unjust harm to my business.
I do not understand the mentality behind your choosing to document every detail, the public doesn’t want to hear every detail.
I was quite alarmed to learn so abruptly thru your lengthy damaging pubic commentary, this has only caused unnecessary tension between our relationship not helping us moving towards a resolution to your many grievances.

This is what we had communicated last regarding registration, dated May 25th.,
to me

"Good Morning Nanette!

I needed to contact you because I need to have Gigabyte registered. We are entering him into a Fine Art project for Maine Coons and I need him registered in order to qualify. He is such an amazing cat. I’ve leash trained him, he knows sit and high five as well. He’s pretty awesome.

On your website it states it’s a $25 dollar fee to have them registered? I can send that through PayPal if you wish. I can provide documentation proving his Neuter as well. I sent you a text after it was done asking if you wanted documentation but never received a response. I just need him registered so we can participate in this wonderful photography project. They want to feature purebred Maine Coons.

Here are a few of our pictures I’ve taken for his Instagram account"
See attached photos below.

You never said one word about his current condition and your tone reflects that your are not very unhappy with Gigabyte.

Here is what I know about myself as a breeder:
I believe I am very reasonable sensitive person open to all discussion.
I believe I have given my prospective adoptees the impression that my doors always open to any question and to visit the cattery.
I strived to be engaged and proactive with full disclosure with all of my clients when there are issues.
I do not believe I have ever been rude to anybody unless really and rightfully provoked.
I do not think I have a rude bone in my body.
My clients all seem to praise and even go out of the way to thank me for responding and taking their calls. I like to talk to my prospective adoptees to learn information about their sad losses of a dear pet and to learn what their experiences and knowledge has been with Maine Coons, I pride myself for spending a lot of thoughtful informative time on the phone one on one.
I always respond in a timely manner to inquiries and provide vital informative information regarding my adoption process.

Regarding unforeseen illnesses:
When there have been unfortunate and unforeseen illnesses my policy which is also stated clearly in my contract to offer a replacement kitten if a kitten has a genetic disorder that is documented, I offer full replacement no refunds.
Fortunately and unfortunately, I have had to confront these health issues twice in the last 10 years, provide I had access to the facts and medical records.
I have a non-disparagement agreement that my clients have signed of which there have only been two situations in the last 10 years.
I believe I strive to run a very ethical business.
I will defend my reputation and admit to short comings for which you purposely denied me the opportunity in this case on the Complaint Board which I find cowardly immature and truly regrettable after the fact.

Respectfully,
Nanette Allen

Wild Onion Maine Coons dying kittens and dishonesty

I paid a deposit to Nanette Allen in the amount of $600 for a kitten in Dec 2018. When the time came to have my kitten shipped to me, she emailed me to say that she had to put the kitten down at the vets the night before. I asked for an explanation and a report. She has not provided me with anything as of yet. She offered me a different kitten and I was already waiting for one of her other cats litter so I agreed to it. When her due date came and went I contacted her again to get a update and she informed me that all of the kittens had died. At that point I asked for my deposit back and she agreed to pay it back but has not honored that and it's been months. I found out that she actually sold my kitten to someone else because she could not ship it do to her not being honest about it's age and health. I also believe that she is not take her kittens to a vet. I noticed her mama cat was pregnant immediately. Died kittens or no died kittens, I find this very alarming. It's becoming pretty clear to me that she is a kitten mill. This is not a respectable establishment or even a cattery. She needs to stop breeding. It's time for her to stop with all her repetitive excuses and throw in the towel. Also pay me back my money.

Wild Onion Maine Coons kittens

This breeder has been dishonorable, and provided false information about the kittens we purchased. She delivered them on a day I told her that we were hosting an international conference and we were not home. She dropped them off anyway, and very late in the evening. The birthdates were incorrect, the kittens were disheveled and had constant diarrhea when they arrived.
We paid over $3500 for 2 kittens, a male and female. When the vet examined them, he determined that the female was much older than stated on the docs and the male was much younger and should not have been taken from its mother. The female also had a hernia. The male was missing a testicle and had swollen gums.
Nanette Allen completely refused any responsibility of these issues despite several texts and emails to her. She flippantly ignored most of what I said and then said that I was responsible for their health maintenance. Yes, IF I were given the healthy kittens I paid for!
She agreed to pay the vet for any extra surgeries, but my vet feels she is dishonest and does not want to deal with her.
During the spaying, the vet found a huge tumor/ cyst of the kitten's ovary. He said in all his years of practice, he has never seen anything like this in a kitten. His estimation is that these kittens were in-bred and not healthy and that is why they have these issues as well as fur that is constantly unkempt.
Wild Onion Maine Coons is out for money and does not care for the health of the kittens or the satisfaction of the owners. Providing incorrect birthdays and false health information is a danger to the kittens well-being.
She owes us a major refund, which she will not consider. She claims her inspections have been good. I find it hard to believe unless she is paying off the inspectors. She was always asking if we "bonded" with the kittens, I suppose so that we would not want to return them.
At this point, God will give her what she earned and deserves. She is incompetent (even admitting that she could not keep up with the records of the kittens), uncaring, money hungry, and rude. I write this complaint because she is dangerous and her kittens are ill. Buyer beware! These kittens were a birthday gift for my wife, but it has turned into a disaster thanks to Nanette Allen and her Mis-cattery.

Wild Onion Maine Coons complaint about a complaint!

I am writing to protest an unfair and totally unfouned complaint.
I have been raising healthy thriving Maine Coon kittens for 10 years.
In all those 10 years I have never received a complaint or raused an unhealthy kitten.
I have not lost a kitten to any genetic disorder or disease.
My website and cattery has operated for 10 years and never one incident or complaint of unprofessional behavior.
If I were to post on my website all the wonderful testimonials and photographs I have received through the years it would take many pages on my website!
inventive woman's complaint.

I had no idea who I was dealing with.
The woman was complaining got involved long after I had signed a contract with her husband I have never dealt with her before I had I any idea with the nature of This woman's mental stability was.

My protocol is to to speak to prospective adoptive clients so that I can interview them and understand what they are looking for as a pet and what their previous experiences has been with Maine Coon kittens before I approve an adoption.
The husband contacted me and we had nothing but pleasant communications until she got involved.
The kitten left my cattery thriving and healthy she had been to the veterinarian the day before and given a clean health document.
I received a text message saying how wonderful the kitten was and that she had eaten and was taking a nap.
Her daughter was waiting for her to wake up sick she could play with her...
The next thing I receive the phone call Anolon phone call from the veterinarian saying the cat was sick and vomiting!
I told the husband that I would take the kitten back and give him a full refund I was not comfortable with them having the cat and obviously the kids have gotten into something and ingested it and was vomiting it did not happen in my cattery but they needed somebody to blame.
I called the veterinarian clinic the next day and the vet actually apologized to me after she was made aware of the true facts.
I felt this the horrible for was the little girl who apparently was crying her eyes out in the waiting room.
She was the person who lost a perfectly healthy kitten due to her mother's alarmist behavior.
Unfortunately this didn't end after husband return the kitten and I gave him a full refund and made him sign a waiver she continued to call every government agency to complain and report me and it hasn't stopped.

On the 4th of July I received a visit fro animal controlled of reports of abuse to animaks.
They were invited in to inspect my house home/ cattery.
Everything was in order they stated that they saw no abuses, only a clean and orderly environment.
I have received letters to cease and desist my business.
I have also had visits from other animal welfare agencies that have visited my cattery each were found my cattery in compliance.

What is very upsetting is the fact that I open up my website and there is this one article that comes up.
I did nothing to deserve very damaging nesided inaccurate accounting from a very disturb vindictive woman.
I would like the post taken down or this letter published in my defense.

I am writing to protest an unfair and totally unfouned complaint .
I have been raising healthy thriving Maine Coon kittens for 10 years, in all
the 10 years I have never received a complaint regarding an unhealthy kittenor had a unhappy adoptive client.

My website and cattery has operated without one incident or complaint of unprofessional behavior.
If I were to place a post on my website with all the wonderful testimonials and photographs I have received through the years it would take up multiple pages...

This one isolated incident has cost me a lot of money hiring a lawyer to defend my business and reputation.

I was contacted by the husband and dealt initially with him in the beginning of the adoption process.
I had no idea with the nature of his wife mental stability and position as a lawyer for AIG.

I never would have agreed to work with them on an adoption if I had spoken to her initially. I would have declined working with them as clients.

My protocol is to to conduct a phone interview with prospective adoptive clients so that I can get a sense of who they are and if they are responsible pet owners and a good fit for one of my kittens, before I approve an adoption.
The husband contacted me and we had nothing but pleasant communications until she got involved.
The kitten they reserved left my cattery thriving and healthy after she had been to the veterinarian the day before with a clean health document.
The wife, child and grandmother came to pick up their kitten.
Soon after they left the cattery, I received a text message saying how wonderful the kitten witmth a positive update on her activities.
She had eaten and was taking a nap.
The daughter was waiting anxiously for her to wake up so she could play with her.
Hours later I recieved an akarming phone call from a veterinarians office stating the kitten was sick and vomiting!
I searched entire cattery play area where the kitten was housed.
There was no evidence of any object she could have chewed or ingested.

I calked the husband and stated that I would take the kitten back and give him a full refund.
I was not comfortable with them having the kitten and obviously the kitten had gotten into something and ingested it their home and was not a safe invironment.
I could onenvironment. From their behavior that they panicked and needed somebody to blame.

I called the veterinarian clinic the next day and the vet who examined the kitten actually apologized to me after she was made aware of the true facts.
I felt sad for was the little girl who as the very describe the scene was sobbing her eyes out in the waiting room .
She was the victim who lost a perfectly healthy kitten due to her mother's alarmist behavior.
I spoke with the husband and stated I would take the kitten back immediately
with a full refund, he signed a waiver and I thought the incident and dealing with this family was closed.
Not the case at all, in fact the wife continued to call every government agency to complain and fike reports to damage my reputation.

On the 4th of July I received a visit from the animal controlled stating they had received a reports of abuse to animals.
They were invited in to inspect my house home/ cattery and found
everything was in order.
They stated that they saw no abuses, only a clean and orderly environment.
I have received letters to cease and desist my business from other government agencies.
I have also had visits from the animal welfare agency and found my cattery in compliance.

What is very upsetting is the fact that when I search for my website this one article comes up.
I did nothing to deserve this very damaging and completely inaccurate accounting of what actually accured.
I am the victim and have been attacked by a very disturbed and vindictive woman.
I would like the post taken down or this letter published in my defense.

Entire process was fraught with unprofessional behavior. Have emails to attest. Ultimately was presented with a beautiful but ill kitten. Kitten was sick within hours of bringing it home. Took it to vet because of diarrhea and vomiting that began three hours after kitten arrived. Vet noted the rapidly declining health, bloody stools. While at vet office...
