Whirlpool negative experience with appliance and with extended service plan technician

KitchenAid model no. KFCS22EVMS7, serial no. K22705758.
Water damaged our kitchen and hallway maple floors and water leaked to the unit below damaging the door frames. We had been away and damage was extensive. There is one water line where the fridge sits. It was shut off when someone checked and saw the damage but the plumber said the damage was not caused by the water line. He said he didn't know what was leaking. We moved out while the damaged floors were replaced and refinished. The fridge was shut off. When we came back after the repairs we started using the fridge and our neighbor from the unit below immediately warned us that water was dripping to his unit again. This time we were home and immediately called the plumber back. He rolled the fridge half-way out and saw water on the floor, but also saw water along a narrow plastic tube at the back of the fridge. He told us to call an appliance repair co. because he said a small black clamp attached to the tube may not hold the tube properly. To prevent again damage to the new floor the plumber warned us from using ice or dispenser, and I taped a plastic bag to the back to catch any running water.
Then I called you to schedule an appointment. You contract with Alliance Appliance and I called them also. After a scheduled and cancelled appointment by Alliance, a technician finally came today. What an experience. Extremely nasty, obnoxious and rude, this technician informed me a few minutes that nothing was wrong with this fridge. He said: Your plumber probably fixed the problem. I was with the plumber at all times and he showed me where the water was coming from but never removed any tubes. A larger, 6 inch long plastic tube, that this technician suddenly threw onto my kitchen counter and claiming to have been the problem, was according to him, already fixed. I told him again that the plumber only noticed water coming from a thin long tube connected to the back of the fridge. The technician made his own story.
I was accused by the technician of misrepresentation and lying, of having moved the fridge and maybe damaged it, on and on.
The water damage had occurred before this fridge was rolled out from its space! The fridge is now sitting halfway, blocking our kitchen door. The tech refused to roll the fridge back into its space. Before he left he asked if I use the icemaker and do I want to have the water on? I asked him why he would want to shut the water if the fridge is fine?
This fridge is also making very loud noise but this tech scared me and I did not tell him about the noise.
This incident should be investigated and this technician should not be working in a customer service oriented position. He is very abusive.
I paid $3000 to have my floors repaired, lived away in chaos for 2 weeks, and then got accused by an Alliance Appliance technician of providing false and erroneous information!
The plumber did nothing but look at what the problem could be and he found nothing wrong with the water line.
I hope to hear from you. As for the damages here, there are neighbors who were affected and who witnessed this disaster and I took many pictures.

Has Never been Resolved! This damage issue with a faulty factory product of a Whirlpool Kitchen Aid was just passed over to someone else's desk. Whirlpool totally avoided taking any responsibility and passed it on to their service contractor. The service contractor was strictly a Whirlpool choice. For this reason, both Whirlpool and their chosen contractors are responsible and guilty for denying customer resolution. Whirlpool sold a faulty Kitchen Aid refrigerator and the appliance could never be repaired by their chosen service contractor.
Whirlpool Kitchen Aid refrigerators are not what's promised. Obviously, as I read on, this problem occurred not only with my refrigerator but with many other owners.
Avoid buying A Whirlpool Kitchen Aid refrigerator.

Whirlpool customer care

Dear sir /madam,

There is serious issue of tracking when coming to your customer care support. Did not expect that such a big company like whirlpool do nit track the customer opinion.

Im one of your customers who is fed up with this issue. Your customer care is calling repeatedly to ask of extended warranty of my washing machine.in the first 10 calls was patient answering them that im not interested in it. The call count increased day by day. Today I got 3 calls from different people asking the same thing. This makes the count to 25.

Can you please make sure you track your customers response somewhere so that this will not repeat as it does spoil the reputation of such a good company.

Regards
Bindu, your customer

Whirlpool dishwasher wdf520padb7 serial #f7431091

Bought this dishwasher in sept of 2017. Had appliance technician come out to check it because it was leaking water all over. This leak caused extensive water damage to my cabinets walls baseboards and carpeting. Technician found a faulty part on the dishwasher. Had to submit a claim to my insurance company. My house has been torn up for four months. Also because of mold that developed due to the leak I had to have four mold tests done.

Whirlpool whirlpool usa washing machine 3l wtw 5550yw 10.5kg

We are a small hotel/restaurant in Accra Ghana. We purchased the whirlpool washing machine in Dec. from Edricks in Accra. Since we have had it there has been an electrical intermittent fault. We called the engineers out in February which took 5 days to come and charged us GHC100, as the problem was getting worse and worse. They said it was the way we were using it. We tried to manage it but the fault continued so we took it into their workshop in March. They tested it for a short time and said it was working. When we brought it home it still didn't work properly . We called them again for the engineers to come back out and find the fault, we are still waiting! When we call them they say their schedule is not worked out yet, we have been waiting 7 days for an engineer. I have had whirlpool products for over 30 years and know they are reliable, but I know this machine is faulty. The electronic programme buttons are not working and the door is not locking. Now I do not know what to do as its a brand new machine which has never worked properly.
Date of incident ...
Client number...no number.
Invoice number... LACRD/17/0000384
I would like either a full repair (without delay) or a replacement machine.
I have lived in Ghana for over 6 years and know the standard of service here in general is bad, but being an international company I was hoping the service would be better, that is why I continued to choose whirlpool.
I hope you can do something about my complaint, as this has left me a very unhappy customer.
Yours

Whirlpool washer/dryer model wet 402 7ew0 / ser. m60708206

Salesman suggested calling-I like emails. I purchased unit 9/16. I am a single man with another Whirlpool unit at my residence in basement. I purchased second unit to eliminate using stairs. Unit worked ok until 6 months ago; began leaking what apparently was a light oil. Unit-washer-stopped working in middle of wash cycle, making a loud crunching sound and agitator stopped "agitating". Repairman from Countywide Appliances examined and states unit needs clutch and gearbox estimated at +$350.00 (After $80.00 service fee).
Apparently I made a mistake in not purchasing of Warranty---I assumed that my intermittent use would not require an extended warranty on your product. Apparently, I was wrong. I am having a repair done-to move this unit would be very difficult and IT IS ONLY ONE YEAR OLD.
Is there any remedy you might be able to offer me in exchange for great publicity?!
Thanks-a lot of money-just trying to obtain some relief.
Thank you! Dennis Hayes [protected]@gmail.com

Whirlpool washing machine

To the head of customer service at Whirlpool:

I am writing to express my great disappointment at the performance of your model #WFW915YW. I purchased it 5 years ago, along with its twin dryer, and it has been used once a week, most weeks, for one set of bed linens and towels and workout clothes. In spite of this very light usage, the electronics in it have failed, requiring me to replace it, as the cost either way is in excess of $700.

I believed that the Whirlpool brand stood for reliability and quality, and am most disappointed to learn it no longer does.

As the former CEO of a publicly traded company, I know I would have been distressed to learn of this kind of product failure.

Sincerely,
Christie Hefner

Whirlpool washer/ dryer

Hi,
My client# 6794. I washer dryer in my condo which was under warranty and the faulty water pump spilled water all over my floor damaging 500 sq feet of bubbling of the floor. They fixed washer dryer but i have $3500 of property damage which i have not received any resonse.
I have property damage claim which i filled on 19th Mach 2018. It has been 14 working days and no response. The damage control employee Jessica Bowell i left 4 messages, emails and she has not returned my calls or replied to email. When i called the so called Customer Experience Department they the supervisor, Renee told me that he only deals with issues regarding the breakage and forwarded me to Jessica Bowell, and again voice mail.

It is frustrating that there is Customer Service department but no Complain department.

Whirlpool ingus dryer

We had bought a brand new dryer from the brick... the motor blew in the first 20 minutes,
Well things happen, but what shouldn't happen is the nightmare that happened over the next full month trying to get a new dryer.
The brick took no responsibility for this and passed the buck from servicemen to whirlpool, we tried to get to replace it then when fed up I asked them to just take it back and I'd go somewhere else. Either request was ignored the so called customer service people on the phone we useles and treated me like I was stupid two told me it takes 3 business days to send an email. The bottom line I bought a product from the brick, they should have changed the dryer out ASAP and delt with it on their end. How they are still in business is a mystery to me.

Hi Ms. Anderson.

I've read your concerns and understand wholeheartedly. Hopefully we may be of some assistance to you.

Give me the models as you know them directly from the appliances themselves. Assuming the models are listed directly on each unit, if you can include a photo of each, that would be of great help.

To further assist, from where did you purchase these units from? Did you purchase any additional warranty coverage on them?

Look forward to helping you.

Whirlpool whirlpool stove/oven

Whirlpool dishwasher model wdt970sahv0

The SECOND dishwasher, model # WDT970SAHV0, has failed since shortly before Thanksgiving 2017. The first one, serial #F73216880, was replaced, it never worked correctly. I thought it was an operator problem but asked the installed to return and it was determined it had bad sensor. The SECOND machine, serial # F73216857, was installed December 12, 2017 and worked until the middle of March 2017. I called Whirlpool customer service the week of March 12 and a repairman came March 23, 2018 and determined that the washer motor assembly and the computer board needed to be replaced. I told the company sent, Appliance Connection, that I wanted the dishwasher replaced with a different model. Appliance Connection said they were told by Whirlpool to repair. I spoke with Whirlpool Customer Service March 29 requesting a replacement but was denied. This model should be recalled. Another note: The silverware tray at the top of the tub does NOT clean the items placed there well.
I DO NOT WANT THIS SAME MODEL AS A REPLACEMENT. I have purchased Whirlpool Appliances over the years, I have a large capacity washer and dryer, a free standing double oven and a wall oven. HOWEVER, if this dishwasher matter is not resolved, I want a complete refund of the purchase cost of $747.98 AND the 5 year extended warranty $243.80. Also, this second dishwasher removed from my home. I will never again purchase Whirlpool products and spread the word that Whirlpool does not work with their customers to correct inferior products. Thank you for your time.

Whirlpool dishwasher wdt750sahz

I bought a whirlpool dishwasher (WDT750SAHZ) 3 months ago and have had a service tech visit 3x. The first time was for a faulty float mechanism. The dishwasher worked for a couple of months, but now has had the controller replaced. Today, the technician told me the motor is bad and needs replaced. I've been without a dishwasher for several weeks now and each time the service tech returns, I have to take time off of work. I obviously bought a lemon, and Whirlpool needs to replace this lemon with a new dishwasher that works.

My dishwasher is still broken, and I wanted to provide an update. Because I purchased the dishwasher at Lowes’, I decided to contact Lowes’ customer care, as Whirlpool has offered no further assistance to me. Although not much of a consumer advocate, the Lowes’ rep did explain the WP service policy to me. WP will only replace my dishwasher, if I have 3 service calls for defects within the warranty period. It does not matter how many defective parts are replaced on my lemon dishwasher, but all that matters is number of new service calls logged. Within these first few months of owning the WP dishwasher I have had 4 defective parts replaced – float switch, control panel, motor for TBD reason, and replacement motor for the original bad motor due to a bad diverter on the sump. Since the factory repairman replaced more than 1 defective part on his visits, WP will not even consider giving me a replacement unit. Thus, my only recourse is to continue getting the word out about the poor quality products from Whirlpool. BUYER BEWARE!

I am furious after my latest interaction with whirlpool customer service. After my first post to the complaint board I was promised a replacement dishwasher if the new motor did not fix my issue. The factory technician just left my house shaking his head because the replacement motor was defective. So I called WP only to get an argument and told I would need to wait for yet another part. How can this be? Obviously WP has major qualities issues and does not care about their customers. They cannot even keep their promises. I plan to tell my experience with WP to as many people as possible. BUYER BEWARE!

WP tech returned today to replace the motor. The wait was almost 2 weeks, after shipping delays and a backorder by the distributer. The new motor was defective and the diverter on the sump leaked. I called WP customer service because after my last complaint post, I was told they would replace the unit if this fix did not work. The call left me very angry, as the customer service rep just argued with me. Whirlpool obviously has a serious quality problem. They also do not keep their promises to their customers. I plan to tell my story to as many people as possible. BUYER BEWARE with Whirlpool products. This unit was originally purchased at Lowes. Not sure if they can offer any assistance.

Whirlpool gas range model # wfg515s0e81 / ser# r73122911

Purchase Date 9/19/2017 We have recently replaced all our kitchen appliances with the Whirlpool Brand. My wife and I are very dissatisfied with the gas range. Having a very difficult time controlling temperature in burners especially at low setting. Grates on range top are very heavy to move for cleaning purposes. Especially for Seniors with arthritis. Grates also seem to scratch bottom of pots and pans very easily. Grates don't seem very level small pots and pans wobble. Cleaning range top more difficult being wide open for all debris to fall into. We regret buying this gas range.

Whirlpool refusal to issue parts authorization reimbursement

My wife and I purchased a Whirlpool 36" Wide French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerator with StoreRight (Model # WRF757SDEH; Serial # K55120418) on 1/1/2016 for $2339 from Lowes. An expensive purchase we hoped would perform without problems for many years. The ice maker suddenly stopped working and we scheduled a service call through Whirlpool's website as this was the most convenient way to schedule the repair. The Whirlpool contracted repair company (Advantage Appliance Repair - See attached invoices) came out on three separate occasions 3/14/18, 3/19/18, and 3/22/19 to review, diagnose and fix the presenting problem(s).

The initial problem was diagnosed as a bad thermistor which required the entire ice maker to be replaced ($139.94 parts and $169.99 in labor). Unfortunately, that did not resolve the problem. After a second call, it was suggested the Ice Box Fan was also bad and needed to be replaced
as well ($180.31). Mind you, this is an almost brand new Refrigerator.

At this point, I called Whirlpool Customer Care to notify them of both repairs and of my disappointment that an almost new refrigerator would need to these type of repairs. My family is a loyal Whirlpool customer and in addition to the Whirlpool refrigerator we also have a less than 2 year old Whirlpool dishwater in our kitchen as well. As such, I requested that Customer Care provide a Parts Authorization Reimbursement for both parts replaced (the ice maker and ice box fan). The initial customer care person said they could not assist and transferred me to the supervisor. I then spoke with the supervisor who said because we used the Whirlpool website to set up our repair and did not call Whirlpool directly via the customer care line and subsequently used and payed for the 3rd party repair company (the company that Whirlpool authorized and contract with via their website) that they could not reimburse what was already paid for. However, the supervisor did tell me that if we had called first to the Whirlpool customer care line they could have and likely would have authorized reimbursement for these parts. I explained it should not matter how this was brought to Customer Care's attention as we went through Whirlpool's website to address the issues we were having (i.e., broken ice maker). I asked that if Whirlpool were willing to reimburse for the repairs via a phone call then they should reimburse regardless of how the issue was presented to the Customer Care department. To my great dissatisfaction, the Customer Care Supervisor said this was policy and there was nothing she could do. I asked several more times if Whirlpool could assist and make this right and they refused. I really could not believe there was nothing the supervisor could do and told her I felt this way. I asked one last time if there was anything that Whirlpool could do to make me feel better about this as I was a very dissatisfied customer and this had turned from a bad customer experience into a consumer who likely would not choose Whirlpool for future purchases. This experience was and is extremely disappointing. Especially since Whirlpool would have helped provide reimbursement if I had called in on the Customer Care line.

I disagree with this outcome and believe reimbursement for both the ice maker and ice box fan is in order. I have no problem covering the cost of the labor paid to Advantage Appliance Repair. I hope this message creates an opportunity for improvement for how these type of complaints are addressed and that appropriate resolution is consistent whether the problem is presented via the customer care line or through the company's website.

Thank you. - Jeremy Spencer

Thank you for your response. I did, in fact, mean 2018 not 2019. To answer your question regarding an extended warranty, no we did not purchase one. Regardless, to have two repairs required totaling $500 on a refrigerator at such a young age seems unreasonable. We purchased a Whirlpool for the quality the brand has been known for. Unfortunately the experience we have just had (two different parts requiring replacement at the same time) makes me believe these parts were faulty to begin with and should not expect to replace at this age of such a high quality appliance. This is why I'm requesting the financial restitution for these replacement parts. Again, I'm happy to pay for the labor. Thanks for your sincere consideration.

My best,

Jeremy Spencer

Unfortunately, any and all brands have a certain level of failure. Ultimately that is why warranty coverage exists.

You're unlikely to find the parts or labor are covered, but if you'd like to contact Whirlpool directly, call [protected].

Best of luck.

Hi Jeremy.

Appreciated reading your concerns.

One of the dates you posted was for 2019; I'd assume you meant 2018 as the 2019 date would have not taken place yet.

Whirlpool is known to make one of the finest lines of appliances within the industry. One should understand though that all manufacturers create their products for a certain price. When costs are calculated, statistics are uses in knowing fairly accurately how much money will be used to service warrantied products; therefore it is truthful to state that the length of a product's warranty is directly reflected in the product's final price. In order to offer a product at a reasonable and more competitive price, most appliance manufacturers include a one year, limited warranty with their products. For customers that feel this length of warranty is not long enough, both the manufacturer and retailer generally offer extended warranty coverage to cover unexpected problems.

Ultimately then, it would be helpful to know if you purchased any additional warranty coverage through Lowes, Whirlpool or a different third party source.

Please note, if this issue has already been resolved to your satisfaction, there is no need to respond to this text.

Thank you.

Whirlpool double oven/ model# wod51ec0as

I had a house built in 2016 that came with all Whirlpool appliances. A couple months later in November, it required service on the double oven because it wasn't heating at the designated temperature. The tech explained that it could only be tweaked because a temperature range (not necessarily the entered temp) was acceptable. Ten months later, it started shutting off in the middle of cooking, giving a message: call service, F1E1 code. After multiple attempts to resolve, I again contacted Whirlpool in December 2017 because Christmas dinner was a disaster (undercooked turkey because the oven shut off). I was told to shut off the breaker to the oven and turn it back on after a minute. REALLY?! After dealing with this over the last few months and increasingly not be able to use, clean, turn on the light or turn off the code, I again called but could not get through during regular business hours. So, I had to go through the weekend unable to use the oven. I called again this past Monday (03/19/2018) and Whirlpool had a tech come out this morning. I had to pay nearly $400 to repair a fairly new oven that should not be broken less than two years from purchase. I'm not sure if this is an isolated incident or a defective oven but regardless, this is unacceptable and does not speak well of Whirlpool's products. I would think that they would create better products with some longevity and stand behind their products.

Whirlpool maytag 62 mvwb955fw

I purchase this washer on Feb 5 30 days later on March 5 the top glass lip broke all by itself. I out a complaint in that day and was put in touch with the local repair company Advanced out of Springfield. I was told my part was coming on the march 7 and no phone call so I call Whirlpool, We find out the part was shipped but damaged so another part was to come in March 9th. Again no call on the 9th so I call Advanced and whirlpool the part was suppose to come in march 11, again I call both and I speak with a rude man from whirlpool, I as how do they track parts that are suppose to come in for repairs. He tells me they can track parts cause they can come for all different venders. So I ask does whirlpool make the parts or does another company? He responded whirlpool. I asked why would you not track parts. Last I new everyone tracks all parts as its money coming and going. After that I gave up with him. So we have a snow store and I'm told its coming in Friday March 16th. Again I call Advanced and they said now its coming ion Monday March 19, So I call again and they tell me its coming in March 21. So I ask is there a tracking number for the parts and the lady at Advanced said yes. I say why is it that since the last week or so no one can tell me where the part is. I now know why these companies suck. No one can track packages and they are losing millions a year cause they send parts with out tracking or the people they hire don't have enough knowledge to track packages. So ill wait to see if I every get a call in March. Guess its almost time to hire a attorney

I appreciated reading your concerns but have a difficult time deciphering exactly what has taken place with your order. For example, what exactly its a "snow store?"

I will suggest that the replacement of a physically broken part is extremely rare, in that it normally does not fall within warranty.

Whirlpool whirlpool refrigerator

My Whirlpool Refrigerator is approximately 6 years old and it has been making noises for 4 years. In the past year, on the exterior of the refrigerator, the paint is chipping away. This refrigerator seems to be more like 26 years old than 6. Does Whirlpool stand behind their product? I bought a matching oven thinking that Whirlpool was a good company.

Appreciated reading your concerns. I can understand your frustration.

Whirlpool is a great company which, itself, owns multiple other brands. To be cost effective, Whirlpool, like most other companies, provide a one year limited warranty with their products. However both Whirlpool and many of the retailers Whirlpool sells through, offer extended warranty coverage.

When you purchased the product, did you elect to have the unit longer than the first year?

Whirlpool dishwasher

I recently bought a WDT750SAHBO new dishwasher. From the very start it did not drain completely. At times it would keep a small amount in the filter area, which I understand is normal.-other times it left a large amount which drained out on floor when door opened. A service man said it is a plumbing problem, but it is the same plumbing that has been OK for 40 years, and several machines! I talked to a plumber, and was told it must be a defective machine. I am very unhappy at the present! We are not using it at this time.

I can press the "cancel drain" button when water is standing in the bottom of tub, and some times it will drain, and other times it won't.
