Westgate Resorts rip off company

From what I am hearing and seeing, I am not the only one who has had or is currently having a problem with Westgate Resorts/Central Florida Investments. I am hoping that I can find enough people and since there is almost always force in numbers that there will be enough of us to put them in their place. They need to stop doing this to people and we can make a difference if enough of us band together and form a complaint with the FCC.

I received quiet a few phone calls from GMAC TIMESHARE DIVISION, asking if I was interested in renting or selling my timeshare. I own a 4-bedroom at Westgate in Kissimmee, Florida. After repeated phone calls, I finally agreed to rent 2 of my 4 bedrooms out, after the person promising me they have plenty of buisiness people, families, who are interested(a long list), also they have listings at the Orange Convention Center with prospective clients.I gave my cc #, and the charge was $495.00 for them to rent either my 1 or 2 bedroom out. After receiving my money for the rental, never heard from GMAC again. I have called them a few times about the rental, was told no one was interested, after guaranteeing my unit would be rented. GMAC IS A SCAM. Its been since Jan. 2010, and nothing. I am going to file a complaint with the BBB, And the Florida Attorney Generals Office,

Westgate is a waste they don't report on your credit like they said. You are dishing out more money than its worth.I have had timeshare almost 2 years and the deed is still not recorded.I am filing bankruptcy and the treasurer may take timeshare and resale it because of this.I feel like I was ripped off!

We were misled also. I felt like I could not get out of there unless I bought one. They lied to us too. I didnt want it but felt pressured to buy it. They said we could use it anytime every other year. when I try to they end up saying I had to pay maintenance fee first. We just got the time share and put 1800 cash down and they wanted another 500? Then they say we can only use it Monday -Thursday which we were told anytime every other year. I tried to book when we first bought it and couldn't book because there was none available. Then they wanted us to do all this advertising to sell for them but I would never advise anyone to buy from them. I stopped payment on our card and they went ahead and started charging it again. They are the worst I want in on the lawsuit too

We made the mistake of buying a one week time share back in the early 2000's. We never stayed there but did trade for another week stay somewhere else several times in the early years of our ownership. There was always a fairly hefty fee to trade. We paid off the "mortgage" in just a couple years and continued to pay the yearly fees. We have not used our place nor traded in years. Not much was available when we wanted it and the fees were too high. Eventually, the calls began (sometimes 10 a day), which we ignored. We've paid two companies fairly high fees to get us out this mess with, of course, no results. One of the companies was actually recommended to us by the company that arranges the trades (I forget the name). Recently we received a letter from Westgate that said "call us, let's get this settled" or words to that effect. So I called and told them I would never send them any money and I didn't want the timeshare. They replied that they had a warranty deed in lieu of foreclosure that we could sign and, apparently, give back the timeshare. The only catch was we had to send or give them $550 to get the form. We have to contact them by Jan. 31 to arrange this. I have to admit I am tempted to do this just to finally be rid of the timeshare. I hope it is legit. Not sure how the foreclosure would have worked, but I wasn't worried about their threat to do that and report it to the credit bureau. Credit ratings are not that important to me at my age. Any advice?

We want out! We were approached in Gatlinburg, Tennessee about the Westgate Resort. We attended the seminar and of course folded under the high pressure tactics. We fully intended to use the resort but life happened and for ten years we were unable to vacation anywhere. We paid the increasing maintenance fees, and mortgage payments. We finally got an opportunity to spend four days at Westgate, Gatlinburg in 2018. Nice room but there was instant pressure to upgrade our timeshare. On the fourth day of our stay we attended a meeting and because we felt our life could sustain an occasional vacation (Like idiots), upgraded our package. My wife and I discussed later how everything was smoke and mirrors during the presentation. We feel scammed, we have begun trying to unload this money pit and the great investment that was portrayed to us by the salesman is worthless. I called Westgate trying to get the cheapest way out and was told they don't have any return policies. Of course they said we could transfer ownership to someone else but to be honest I value my friends and family and don't want them to be screwed over. So, we are modest people looking for a way to get out of this horrible situation, that has s
o far cost us about $5, 000 a night to use. Please help.

I have been an owner in Gatlinburg for many years and have had many occasions where we were unable to use the property. We went to Florida and stayed at Westgate. I had reserved three 2-bedroom condos and requested they be next to each other. When we arrived, the rooms were in different buildings. Several hours later and many different conversations with management, I finally got everyone in one building but different floors. We did not get keys to the last room until 11pm after I again walked back to the reservation center and complained to management. (we arrived at 4pm). The water park was constantly closed due to potential bad weather threat even though all the other pools remained open. One day we were planning on taking the kids to the pool and I put our towels in the car as I was loading other items in the car. My son got arrested for "stealing towels" when security saw him take the towels out of the car. As an owner I have the right to use all the amenities so why was my son arrested. They put the pool towels in the bathroom - how are you suppose to get them to the pool? It cost $1, 000 to bail him out and another $4, 000 for the attorney. The case was eventually dropped but we then had to pay an additional $2, 500 to have his record expunged.
Total this vacation cost almost $10, 000 plus the monthly cost of buying the property, yearly taxes and fees. Additionally - why did the property fees go up in Gatlinburg when the property burned down and half of the property has not been rebuilt? Just more fees I am required to pay.

YES, I want to sue.

Please NO TIMESHARE CANCELLATION GROUP CONTACT ME. I AM NOT IN THE MOOD. This vicious cycle of Predatory sales and lending practices conducted by Westgate Resorts by THE THOUSANDS and the inability for the victims to be heard and the predatory practices of the EXIT CANCELLATION COMPANIES that COMPOUND the injuries HAS TO STOP. How many hundreds of thousands of people is the government going to allow to be brutalized. These are innocent people - middle class - who fell into a trap and we all seem to feel there is no way out. How can that be? Where is Michael Moore! He would tell the truth.

Hi, my husband and I fell for the mountain of lies and empty promises last year in June. We also were not told that we could rescind after so many day when we purchased at the Orlando location while staying in Vegas. We have been trying to get out of this thing as soon as we started reading all of the negative results. Nothing! I've reached out to them as they now have their "Legacy program" to see if we would qualify as their website is very vague about who could qualify and who could not. I was then told that the only way they would take it back if we had paid of the ENTIRE amount we owe and pay them $900 to process the deed return. I'll be damned to pay them any more money, just so they can turn around and scam out another person of $20K+. Basically I would be paying them to take it back just so they can make a profit on it again. I asked them how stupid they thought I was to even consider such a one sided deal and to stick it. We really just want out and are wondering if there are any LEGITIMATE class action lawsuits happening against Westgate we could join. I'm absolutely exhausted over this crap!

My ex-wife and i purchased a timeshare at Westgate Vacation Villas in Kissimmee back in 2000 for every even year. The timeshare we purchased, along with the resort, have not been maintained since. We just want out of a very bad investment.

Westgate Resorts Lousy service

I bought a timeshare from Westgate Resorts and paid off my debt more than a year ago. Since then I was promised that I was to receive my deed and other official documents within a few months. It has been longer than a year, I even visited Westgate a few months ago, and despite of empty promises and lousy excuses I have not received anything except lousy service. The only time Westgate made great effort and used an aggressive approach was when they wanted to sell more or needed to collect money. Every time I spoke with a customer representative there was the usual sentimental bogus and marketing strategies where there were specials involved for me to upgrade and that the deadline for the special would expire soon. I would not recommend anyone to buy a timeshare from Westgate and fall for their marketing strategies, at least not if they do not really care for their customers (after collecting the money) and give such lousy service.

I have received no help in trying to sell my timeshare after being told that it would be sold in about a month. It has been more than six months and not a single offer has been made. I have received several phone calls asking for more money to advertise another way other than just on the internet . How can anyone logically believe that a magazine may be more effective than the internet?

Westgate Resorts horrible customer service

The first complaint was about the hotel. I was unsatisfied with having no privacy on the balcony and also there were waterbugs on the balcony. I travel to Myrtle Beach every year and this was the worst experience I ever had. It was not a hotel I stayed at it was a motel and it was not worth the money. My clothes in the room was wet from the mist in the room. the bath tube was clogged up. I didn't make an issue because I invited people and I did not want to spoil our trip. I received a survey from expedia so I decided to reply.

This is were my second compliant comes from, I was tring to respond to the survey and I couldn't get into the system beccause it was asking for my pass word and login. Well, I didn't remember them and it wouldn't let me access the survey so I spoke to two representatives that provided horrible customer service the I asked for the manager and they gave me a run around. the third representative was the on e to actually provide real customer service. I am highly upset and I will not support this company this is not my first time doing business with expedia but it will be my last since expedia does not have the time to here their what their customers have to say My money is not good enough for you.

Westgate Resorts tricks up their sleeves!

This past year, my husband, sons, and daughter took a 7-day trip to Florida on the premise that we would tour the Westgate resort as one of our places to stay. We upgraded to one of their rooms for $99.00 and was really pleasantly surprised; that is until we began checking in. First we were bombarded at the check-in for another 75.00 deposit that had to be put on a major card, even though the lady on the call told us we would not necessarily need a major credit card as long as we had a debit card; then we had to show ourselves to our room; the rep was too angry that I didnt have a major credit card; then we had to go to the presentation, that was supposed to be 90 minutes, but turned into three hours of the same bull spoken by three different people. We knew we couldnt afford that first, second, or third package deal and kindly told them so, that we really just wanted to see how the timeshares worked, but the snobby woman, who at first was so sweet I was nauseated, became so nasty and billigerent that we werent buying that shebegan telling us that she "knew you (we) couldn't afford this anyway and that we had just wasted her time!" But before my husband had to pull me away from the table cursing her out, I let her know that if we could afford it, I would have never purchased from her and her stank attitude, and if anyone's time was wasted it was ours, because we could have been at the park with our free ticket, 50.00 gas card, and our 50.00 Goofy bucks anyhow; messing with her dumb ###!

Oh, I forgeot to say this--the most important part. Later we decided to purchase a small package for 500.00 to be able to vacation for one week anywhere in the U.S. to mimic the resort stay. It was a thirty dollar deposit and the payments would be 250.00. So I signed for that to be direct pay out of my account using my card and the guy had me to sign one sheet that had that up there. However when he scanned my card the receipt came back out with the 250.oo written in and i did not realize it until I returned from vacation and my bank sent me an overdraft statement with the 30.00 and 250.00 charges. Oh, I began calling Westgate that day to have the charge removed and they said that it was a charge that I signed for. Mind you I live in NOrth Carolina, I told them to cancel both of the charges, send me my money back and pay my overdraft fee or I would sue them so hard, that their children's children would have a hard time finding relief. The manager came on and agreed that his receipt did look altered and that he would indeed reimburse but wanted to give me another night free to stay in the resort for my trouble. I told him to just send me my money back to the bank, and I would be happy. I called my bank, had the fraud protection added, was reimbursed that same week by my bank and Westgate. Then we closed that account and opened another. I was determined not to let them hit my account again.

Be glad you didn't buy into Westgate. We purchased in 2003 and they never have availability if we wish to trade to a different Westgate location...and if they do have something (never right dates), it's an arm and a leg in fees to transfer (far more than it's worth). Originally, they promised us no fees to transfer within Westgate. That changed in a hurry! Plus, their cleaning fees keep going up each year and the property we own is NOT maintained. They use high pressured sales pitches and wish that we were never suckered into it.

Westgate Resorts scam and cheating

This place will tell you a lot of things to get your money and what is so bad is after the agent tries to sell it to you and she cant get you to then somehow she will signal to someone else of course the first one tells her all about you and she leaves for awhile and comes back and says oh don't tell anyone but I will give it to you half off.

She will make you think you own a unit but why is it they can rent it out to anyone and I thought if you own it you could stay all you want, but you only get it once a year. So its a timeshare not a deed. Its like they still own it and you get nothing. And if they make you stay there 7 hours like us you would sign anything and regret it later.

I canceled mine sending them a registered letter and changed my checking account number.

I was referred to Westgate by a friend who claimed that it was so great. It was supposed to be a 90 min presentation it wind up being 5 hours long. After feeling obligated by a little nice old salesman and his fast talking manager we purchased Got home and now have changed our minds. I am going to write 2morrow to cancel hope all goes well with canceling.

West
WestGate properties are a scam. Here is what you do? When they contact you to offer you to stay at one their properties for a low low price (something that sounds good) - ask them to vie you the price without the presentation. This may be $100 more. If you can't get the no-presentation price then do what I did. Sit through a presentation and ask for the cheapest plan they have. You have 30 days by law to cancel anything. Write a letter to them stating you want to cancel the plan and send it return receipt. Option #3 - when they contact you to stay at one of their properties and prequalify you on the phone tell them you don't qualify for the special but would like the no-presentation price. If they lie and state they don't have a no presentation price than remind them of their unethical business practices well documented with the Federal Trade Commission. Works every time. My wife and I stay at all Westgate Properties and NEVER attend presentations.

Westgate Resorts no loyalty to old owner

My husband and I have been an owner at Westgate since 1994. Since, that time we have upgrade twice. A upon purchasing at the Towncenter before it was completed, making our decision based on presentation. We stayed in our unit for 3 years looking down at a dirt hole, with the promise we would a have beautiful swimming pool as our view. Well, it turn out to be a view of a garbage dumper. The view of the pool turned out to be for the units more to the left of the building. We feel that they misled us. We were informed that the only way we could change our unit was to purchase another unit. Westgate only wanted to give us what we paid for it, not the increase value after 12 years. In order to purchase we would have to come up with another $10, 000. We do not want to invest anymore money. So we are stuck with looking at a dumper. I could not refer any of my friends to buy at Westgate or any timeshare. All they are interested is getting your money. My husband and I have been a owner at Westgate since 1994. Westgate Resorts high pressure sales, full of lies!!!

I too sat through long high pressured torture and finally gave in and was gullible enough to purchase a time share with Westgate. That was the fun exciting part because I actually beleived what these sale professionals said was true. Come to find out now after 2 1/2 years and still not being able to stay at any of the different resorts because it did not work like they told me and in addition additional $500 fees are added at whim when they feel like you are vulnerable. Do not buy from Westgate and take a tape recorder with you to any other time share you may
go to. Still no resolution after many attempts with Westgate...be warned ! Robert

OMG...I honestly cant count the number of lies. First off our salesman swore that he was in the NFL and the injury list, since I have no clue who is won in the NFL I had not reason to doubt him. He promised us 2 extra nights on the vacation that we was on, show tickets, dinner tickets. Well when we found out he couldnt do this and they wouldnt honor his promise, I called the sales dept there in Branson to cancel, it had only been a day and a half since we signed the contract...and after sitting there for 8 hours, I think I would of signed ANYTHING. Well they informed me that it was ok and that they would go ahead and cancel it, I asked for something in writting but of course there was no one there that could do that...that happened twice, both my husband and myself had called to ask, then they said they couldnt give us our refund, but they will be mailing it to us...a week after being home we got a call stating that they will be sending us our refund and for our "troubles" they will send us another free vacation...NO FREAKING thank you. Well 3 weeks has gone by and still nothing in the mail, I called to check up on our refund and I find out they didnt cancel and it was to late, and they will still withdraw a payment out of my account. The lady had the nerve to tell me " I"m one of THOSE people that wants all the free stuff ", then they tell me about the number of show tickets, dinner vouchers was worth ALOT more then my deposit, so I find out he had put in my records that he had given me all these free things, which we ONLY received 1 breakfast. They lied ALOT, they think I"m going to just sit back and let it go away...but I WONT. They even told me they NEVER have anyone complain...then I get onto this website and realize there are ALOT of complaints. I'm wondering about a civil lawsuit, if enough of us get together, I'm sure we could do SOMETHING

Westgate Resorts scam and stealing

Westgate resorts left us in a state of absolute amazement. The customer service was the best our family had ever experienced. They were there for everyone of our needs and definitely went the extra mile. We recommend Westgate in Gatlinburg, TN. It was 5 star and will be the only place that I will take my family. After we checked in it was like we were the only family on the property. Not literally but the way that they tended to all of our needs made us feel that way. Westgate you are our only stop.

We have been owners with Westgate Lakes in Orlando, Fl for approx 7 years, and we have very good experiences with the company. We have always been treated as five star owners as it is a five star resort. The only complaint we have is that we have to pay an exchange fee when we want to stay in another WestGate owned resort. I understand a fee if we book outside of WestGate ownership and pay a fee to Interval International for that service, but I don't think it is right to charge a fee for exchanging to another "WestGate" owned resort. Of note, the other WG owned resorts that we have stayed at also are five star. The ones we have exchanged to are Las Vegas, Branson, and Gatlinburg with great experiences at all. Westgate Resorts fraud and cheating

Through an owner referral, i rented a weekend at Westgate Resorts Orlando. However, I changed my mind after receiving a better deal through the Armed Forces Vacation Club. I called Westgate to cancel. They told me I had 14 days to cancel from the date I paid for the vacation to get a refund. It had been about 8 weeks. I never received any notices on the phone, in the mail or email stating that I had 14 days to cancel my rental. All I received was an itinerary via the email that stated if I canceled my stay within 14 days of my arrival I would have to forfeit 25 dollars. I tried to file a dispute with my credit card company. Westgate Resorts lied to my credit card company and they decided that I did owe the money. I am very disappointed in their sleazy sales tactics and will pursue this out of principal. I filed a complaint with the Central Florida BBB but have yet to hear from them. I strongly suggest a class action lawsuit against them, they are corrupt and I will advise everybody I know within the military community to stay away from these people.

We got pressured into buying one of these. They kept the paper that said we had 5 days to cancel so we did not know about the rule. Until I started fighting with them over it. Then magically they send me a copy of that one paper that said it. I am still fighting with them and will not use it. It is a rip off and they know it. I would also cancel my credit card if they believed them and you have proof that you did what was required to. I would ask for a reconsideration from your card company and keep the pressure on. I tell everyone I know not to have anything to do with Westgate. When they call I even argue with the person especially when they ask me for referrals. I tell them I would not even refer people I hate to them. I told them they could have my timeshare back I'll take it in the shorts for the money they stole from us. They even refused that offer. So that should say something right there.

Westgate Resorts unauthorized money taken from my checking account

I was told that my checking account would only be debited 129.00 for a vacation package. The balance was due on July 7th. As I continued with the hour long conversation with Westgate reps. Julio and Manny additional costs and that fact that I was put on hold for extended periods of time led me to cancel the transaction. The only reason I found out that Westgate Resorts had just debited my account for $563.00 was because I was preparing to pay another bill and I went to check my account and I noticed that my account had less money than I expected. I called Westgate and no one could give me an explanation and I have been given the runaround for the past 2 1/2 hours. I was told that it would take 7-10 days for the money to be placed back into my checking account. At no point during our conversation did Manny or Julio tell me that 563.00 would be taken out of my checking account. I specifically told them that I only could give the down payment in the amount of 129.00. I can't believe that they can get away with lying and taking unauthorized amounts of money out of consumers account and then tell you have to wait 7-10 business days to get your money back. I need this matter resolved immediately. No managers were available and I was given phone numbers that did not work [protected] and told that it was the non owner relations number. I was put on hold several times.

I was told that this resort was excellent. That was not my experience tonight.

Westgate uses an in house collection agency

Same here, paid account in full WESTGATE 3rd Party collection agency was allowed to retrieve some funds from the submitted payment (which zero out the balance)... The collection agency removal of funds put the account in late status, therefore, establishing some re-occurring fees for the agency. WESTGATE stated that I would have to talk to the third party agency because WESTGATE cannot access the account to see what funds are missing, late, etc.. After repeated conversations and explaining that I have print screen documentation of all transactions and payments, including where the third party taking a portion of the payments made on the Westgate owners account. Granting a third party company an owners account has to be a major violation of the law. The individual that was assisting me and the "supervisor" whom both name I would assume are fictitious, both stated that they are "unable to see my account, I would have to contact the third-party agency and the third party agency will release my WESTGATE account so WESTGATE can see my account and then and only then will they be able to assist me"Legal" advisement states that this is a serious matter, BUT, as many are aware, trying to speak to anyone at Westgate about anything that don't involve money or joing to bring in more money is a joke. FYI - WESTGATES GRANTS THIRD-PARTY COMPANIES ACCESS TO YOU MAINTENANCE ACCOUNTS, including your payment processes.

I try getting out from under my timeshare at the Westgate Resort in Kissimmee Florida. We have been have problems keeping up with our own home since the Hurricane Katrina damages our home. We explained to them that we could no longer afford to pay for the resort they wanted us to pay for them to sell it. By the way my maintenance fee was $699. If we can barely pay for repairs of our own home how in the world we could pay for a resort that we cannot not go to . So one day I was checking our credit and they put us in foreclosure on something that we never use but once. How in the world could they do this? If anyone have any idea of how to fix this please write back to me! Thanks!

Is anybody interested in my Timeshare in Orlando. I'll give it away for free. You will only pay the change of property cost involved. Obviously you will have to pay the maintanance fee for this year . I have the last week of August every other year, on even year. Mainatance fee will have to be paied only for the even year. My child has already passed the age to go to Dysney World and it's getting more and more difficult to go for me. It's true if you don't pay the maintanance fee (around $500) you get charge with these collection agency but if you think you really would like to go to Orlando every other year, it's a great deal for 500 or 600 dollar! No agency please only private paties.

I purchased a WestGate timeshare at the very end of 2006 so I had no fees due for 2006
in 2007 I was the one calling them to see when fees would be due
I was told it would post online as soon as everything was due
It did not post online till around June ( I paid it )
so this year in 2008 I just assumed that fees would be due around the same time
NOPE they were due a few months earlier this year
and so they did fall behind and I started gettting unreal amounts of phone calls
from Pinnacle and of course wanting an extra 300.00 from me
I do like my timeshare I think they are a great place
but I money wise they will screw you over if givin the chance

They also have a bigger scam with the collection company Pinnacle that the hurriedly pass you acct to for late payment. This company will add an additional $300 to you balance and they are very aggressive..

Westgate Resorts failure tyo answer my last 5 emails

I have now written 5 rmails between the 27th May and the 1st April asking about the deeds and/or docement relating to my timeshare WTE532. I phoned yesterday the 1st April and spoke to Hernan who said that he would investigate and call me back - still absolutely nothing. I wish to sell the timeshare because in my opinion it is the worst thing possible. In the past letters have arrived with NO date, NO signature and NO name. If I ring back NO body knows a thing and the paper the letter is written is not worth a light.

i tried to use our timeshare we bought march of last year. when we went through the presentation, they promised us the stars and moon. they kept giving us a run around on reservations. they wouldn't return phone calls or emails. 2 weeks prior to when our vacation was scheduled, we still didn't have a room. after calling 10 times in a row, we finally got someone who spoke clear enough english to understand. they had a room for us...for $797. i was like wtf? i've payed out over $7000 for timeshare in which the total price was $14000 over 10 years and can't even use it like it was promised. i ended up staying on disney property for $417.

oh and we haven't gotten our deed yet either. we even went over there while we were in orlando to find out what was going on. no one seems to know. i'm selling the stupid thing and filing a complaint with the better business bureau and florida attorney generals office.

These guys are worse than crooks because theve made an art of lying. We bought, we tried to get out, no replies- no service -no emails-etc...

We are Westgate resort slaves to a hotel in Las Vegas that has gone into financial stasis and wont be completed in time for our first stay. By then we will have paid out $12000 of our $17000 at 17% interest (they forgot to mention the interest).

We travel cheaper by internet than by their memberships or discounts.

The next time you call ask the rep if your Account is in deeded status! If they say yes ask for the county courthouse phone number. You can call the courthouse and get a deed mailed to your home address. If they don't have the phone number ask for the county and you can get the phone number via net. If your account is not in deeded status, which your home resort being the towers it should be, ask for a copy of your contract and that you are willing to pay the ten dollars.

Westgate Resorts westgate resorts

Thank God! for the internet. My family and I was at Vegas this wk. I can’t believe that i got scammed by westgate salesguy. Unfortunately i’m still in that grace period of opting out on my contract. I want to know are they going to honor the cancellation? After we made the purchased, i had sleepless nights back at the hotel. I did know that you can still cancel the contract within the grace period, that was given to you by the state you are buying the property from, all states are different. I just got home from Vegas few days ago. I think my deal was the worst of all. I’ve almost cough up 33K then I told the salesguy the interest on that loan is too high. Guess what the salesguy do. He/she went up to the boss told the boss that i wouldn’t be paying that kind of interest. guess what the boss did, the boss took off 10k right there, so down to 23K, but the interest on that loan is still the same. I still took the deal at 23k.Then when I got back to the hotel I kept telling myself i could’ve bargain with them for less. I’ve been teaching my kids in life there is no such thing as a free lunch. Oh well, sometime adults might forget what they been preaching to their young ones. The offer was so enticing what the heck, 90mins tour turned into 4-5hrs. I don’t know if my story will help of you or not, but make sure you don’t make the mistake that i made. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed, it’s not a done deal yet if I could get out of this contract. please, forgive me if my grammar/spelling is out wrack. Oh, by the way reason we attended that tour is get back my deposit. To all of you out there remember THESE WORDS T*I*N*S*T*A*A*F*L(There is no such thing as a free lunch). I’ve learned my lesson. Thank you reading my blog.

We just went through the same thing we just got back from Orlando. We did the whole 90 min tour bs that turned into 6 hour beleive it or not. We went in the off season and the parks only stayed open til 6pm. We got to WGL at 7am to take out tour and we didnt see a rep til 9am. The breakfast was horrible. They kept pressuring us to buy one and we kept telling them no even after 4 ppl came to talk to us. Well the 5th guy talked us into taking a vacation package with them and it would cost $795 didnt sound so bad...so we signed the contract and got it home and decided we didnt wanna do it bc we knew how it was gonna be...once we got down there we would be hounded into buying one and we didnt want it...we sent a certified letter today along with the membership thing they gave us saying cancel it...so i know how u feel just the sucky thing was our whole day was ruined bc of them the parks closed at 6pm we got there at 7am and didnt get to leave til 1pm. Oh and we got a free breakfast buffet in the Smokehouse Grill and we figured we would go and beleive it or not we was hounded again on trying to buy saying he was from corprate and the price we got was way to low and our agent shouldnt have even gave it to us for that price...ITS ALL A BUNCH OF BS! NEVER WILL I DO A TOUR AGAIN!

Westgate Resorts westgate resorts is duplicitous

The State of Florida protects the interests of business' over those of consumers.

Caveat Emptor when dealing with Westgate Resorts, and the State of Florida.

My fiance and I were solicited, and accepted (mistake) a great deal from Westgate Resorts regarding discounted hotel rooms and shows in Las Vegas, Nevada. If we gave Westgate Resorts $159 we would receive, among other benefits, a vacation package that included the aforementioned discounts. That sounded great as I am sure it could have been.

We were solicited the deal months in advance of the actual dates and times we were to go, and at that time our lives permitted the trip. However as the time neared for us to go, our circumstances changed and we were unable to take advantage of the vacation package offered by Westgate Resorts.

We called Westgate to get a refund, and to our surprise we were told sorry. Westgate Resorts have cancellation policies/rules that read as follows:

"Any travel date cancellation/change within 7 days, will result in a $25 service fee

Any travel date cancellations/changes made within 72 hours of arrival are subject to a service fee of $25 plus the first night's room rate at the non-promotional rate. No refunds will be made for No Shows or early check-outs."

Westgate Resorts terms and conditions mention the latter, but do not mention what to do if you cannot make the trip at all. If we had cancelled within the 7 days and paid the $25 service fee and received a refund of $134, we would have understood that. However, we called to cancel outside of that 7 day period and were told we had no way to recover any portion of the original $159 paid. We were given the chance to postpone the vacation package (time slots) for an additional 3 months or 6 months for $19 and $50 respectively. That would be great, but the reason we could not go still existed, so going later in the year did not negate the fact I could not go and wanted a refund.

It was explained to me by a well rehearsed manager of Westgate, that it is the State of Florida which says that once a solicitation has been made and accepted any money paid is non-refundable after 14 days. (Nowhere was that mentioned in the paperwork given to us by Westgate Resorts). The manager then told me that people who sign up for these vacation packages do not intend on canceling them, and I should have asked about cancellation policies if that was a concern of mine. Well I am not a fortune teller and did not know I would lose my job 2 months after agreeing to the $159 for the vacation package. Let me tell you how bad I wanted to reach through the phone line, and ...! However I am Christian.

All in all Westgate Resorts would not refund our monies paid, and basically said their hands were tied because of Florida Law, and I should talk the state if I had issues. I think that is very convenient that this non-refund law is not mentioned by Westgate. It is unfortunate that you have to get taken advantage of once before to know these sorts of things. My advice to everyone is make sure you are going to be able to go to these silly time share events, and know what state laws are applicable regarding refunds before you sign up for what sounds like a to good to be true opportunity. Otherwise you will get suckered into buying some guy from Nebraska who signed up for the same deal and was able to go, a round of drinks.

Westgate Vacation Villas - is a rip-off -scam. I purchased a vacation package July 2011, I was lied to and misled too. Everything is true about is company. Please be advised not to buy a Timeshare or a vacation package from this company. They asked me to fill out an application, to run my credit, instead they open up a line of credit in my name with Bank of America for $5, 000. The membership was originally, $7, 900 dollars what a big discount, because they did some underhanded sh--- to me and I couldn't cancel after 3 days .

Heading to Target soon after to get a plain [censor] and color paints that will say feed your Westgate bed bugs or something to that effect. I will be at the morning presentation with it on.

Westgate Resorts Never again!

West gate Resort in Orlando is based on timeshare sales. We went there on an offer and was told we would have to sit through a "presentation." The presentation started at 0730 am and the high pressure sales continued through to noon. Four and a half hours of the salesman pushing the sell. He started by telling us ... no pressure, just a presentation. He would not come up for air, and after we told him no thank you, he brought another person to make us another offer, then a third person after we again declined. When it was all over we were told we were not welcome to return to West gate. WHAT? Who wants to return? The accommodations were not anything spectacular. We told him we just invested in property and could not afford anything else. What a waste of time. The whole resort was full of people coming on the presentation. There was a large hall size room with well over 100 sales reps pushing the place down peoples throat. I have been to timeshare presentations in the past and they last an average of an hour and half. I have even purchased. This was one a friend had purchased and I went along with. Never again!

Wow! everything here sounds so familliar. we stayed at the branson westgate woods resort. oct 2007. we were expected to wait for 45 min for our 'scheduled' appt. i asked to talk to someone b/c i was promised the presentation would only take one hour and i was holding them to it! they were very high pressure - bringing in several reps after my husband said no. do not go! it is not worth the headache!

I hate to say it, but I purchased a timeshare in Gatlinburg, TN. It has been a nightmare trying to exchange. I can never get a unit where I want to go. I can only go where there is a unit available. And the problem is when someone deposits their week, the week is backdated several months and not made available for other owners. It is used for non-owners to reserve and pay. So when I try to exchange there's never anything available.
DO NOT BUY ANY TIMESHARE AND DO NOT USE INTERVAL INTERNATIONAL.
I got stuck.

My husband and I foolishly bought into Westgate Historic Williamsburg. It has been nothing but sheer frustration, they don't hesitate to take your payments and maintenance fees. Just try getting your week, the free week we were given for buying in cost us just shy of $500. We were told our week was a floating week and it was in the prefered/premium category. However, when we try to book a week, we cannot book the weeks of July 4th, Thanksgiving week or Christmas week unless we pay some outlandish fee for those "special" weeks. We try to book the week on our deed, and were told sorry, but no can do, but we can accomodate you for a 5 night stay, although your paying for a week. No offer to compensate us for the nights we weren't allowed to have. So I told them to stuff it. We called back several days later, and now are told there is nothing available until the week before Christmas, well we have already booked and have arranged to go down the week of Jan 4th, so once again, every week we tried to book, we were told there was a lock out on and a member of senior management had to open it up. Again today, I was trying to book the first week of May 2009, and again met with it was locked out and only senior management can approve it, so I said this is the 4th or 5th time this has happenned we call, we can't book anything. You guessed it, Sr. Mgmt is not availble on weekends. I am still waiting for the call from the last phone call in Sept, this is now Nov, you can bet I am not holding my breath. But by not allow us our scheduled week per our contract, they now insist it will cost me an additional $130 to use the week in the future.

While this totally naive individual could not comprehend was that by not booking my reservation equalled telling me it was unavailable, he insisted it was but that upper mgmt have to open it up. Well frankly I am more than tired of having to spend hr after hr on the phone with these script reading ###s. I said to my husband while on the phone with this rep, that if we had purchased the 2+ bedroom unit we would be accomodate, but because we purchased a smaller unit they were in essence telling us to go to H*LL.

This is all in addition to being told they were building new units and an indoor water park. You guessed it neither have been done. We have heard and read where people are shuffled to Heritage Inn, which is the equivalent of a city dump. I was smart, I took photographs of the unit we were supposed to get, if I don't get that when I finally am able to get a reservation I will be contacting the BBB, our Attorney, and the Atty for Va, and NY.

In essesence it's virtually too late for us, but please do NOT purchase, its nothing more than a high price scam used to get you to virtually give up and give in. This was our 20th anniv gift to each other. Do yourself a favor and seek out fairfield resorts, from all I see and hear people are alot happier their. The sales tactics here are simply strong arming and wear you down techniques that go far beyond the 90 min.
