Waffle House - unfair no hire list

I also worked for a waffle house and was also treated bad by the management there. Jasper Alabama matter of fact. I was put on the no hire list for reasons that is not true. I was one of the best employee that waffle house had. I was never late and even showed up when it snowed. Rarely sick and I worked really hard beyond what others did there. I was not...

Waffle House - employee treatment

My roommate works at the Waffle House here in town as a grill operator. She has worked off and on for Waffle House in a number of different locations for about 14 years and NEVER has she EVER had so much trouble in one store. Her previous boss was bad, but her new boss is a racist peice of crap. It was thought that under new management that the store would...

Waffle House cooking in silicone

eat at your risk... short and sweet; waffle house cooks in silicone oil, cause it is cheaper...the liver can't metabolize silicone. eat at your risk...
in over fifty years of eating out the worst of the worst five was at waffle house, where even complaining about it, had no effect...all i got from the cashier, who was a regional manager, was; sorry you weren't satisfied with your meal, repeated three times...the juice order was the wrong size, the potatoes were slimy with grease, the toast became muffins, the scrambled eggs were inedible, sickening in fact, ..and so i thought i would email coprolite...you guessed it, no email contact...they know, but they don't want to hear it again from you...so far has america sunk to being a third world country, no butter in this restaurant at any price...all the best waffle house, ripping off poor hard up low income working peoples...

Waffle House racial profiling behind the counter

Waffle House prides itself in being America's place to eat; offering sometimes good food, and pleasant service with a smile. Though in truth those smiles are often faker then many realize.

Nowhere is this more apparent then the location at 219 So. Clayton St. in Lawrenceville, GA. Arrive any time after the traditional breakfast, and lunch rush, and a cloud seems to fall over the entire establishment.

But it's what happens with each customer entering that is most appalling to me. From salesperson, to cook, they watch the guest, comments like how a mother of six "must be a baby machine" or how every taxi driver "is Spanish."

Another server (who I believe no longer works at the location) refused to take tables that weren't white; stating they never tipped! On several occasions other employees complained about her, but nothing was done until corporate's back was against the wall.

On third shift, which must begin some time around eight or nine a whole different bred of staff comes into play. Particularly the cook; he is rash, drunk, sloppy, on several occasions I have seen him not where gloves after sneezing, or changing garbage bags.

And what he has to say; he is perhaps that worst of them all, he watches cars, people, and trends; referring to a group of European Girls as "Euro trash"; and a female taxi driver as the "Mexican madame"; he speaks of sexual acts and deeds without any care for who might be listening; and yet the other staff members just laugh at him, and even egg him on.

In their effort to maintain status quo; Waffle House will likely continue to ignore behavior such as that going on at this location; getting involved only when necessary; and why not they've gotten away with it this long, why change?

Waffle House waiters response

you offend one way or the other when you say Happy Holidays rather than Merry Christmas. Last night I went into my local Waffle House restaurant and told the waiter Merry Christmas. He responded Happy Holidays. I asked why he said that rather than the traditional Merry Christmas greeting. He shared that he was told that was the Christmas response they were to give to their customers. Either way someone is offended with the Happy Hoidays or Merry Christmas response. From God's word it reads "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord". St. Luke 2:11 King James Version. Let us beaware that we can even offend Jesus Christ--after all it is His birthday.

Waffle House very rude staff

My boyfriend and two friends of ours were in Galveston for the Lone Star Bike Rally. Our hotel was across the street from The Waffle House. Upon returning from the rally we parked the bikes and walked to the The Waffle House for breakfast. Because it was Halloween, we had on costumes. My boyfriend was wearing jeans that we had cut some holes in (not realizing the back pocket ended up with a hole in it) He put the keys to the bike in that pocket and needless to say they fell out. A waitress held up the keys asking if anyone lost their keys. Our friend saw this but didn't mention it until the next morning when we couldn't find our keys. We walked over to the The Waffle House to ask if they could look around for the keys. The people were so rude...they refused to look around or call any of the staff that had been working the night before. Later that night, my boyfriend called to see if one of the night people knew where they might be. Sure enough they were sitting right next to the register. Now we will have to make a 4 hour round trip to pick them up when it would have taken all of 4 seconds for the rude***** to look for them.

I don't understand them not looking around for them because that's dumb. It would have taken the staff all of two seconds. But I can understand why they didn't call the people who were working the night before. When I'm not at work, I don't want to be bothered with calls from work asking me questions.

Waffle House wrongfull termination

I was a recent employee of this store I am speeking of I was terminated of employement on July 4th, 2009 due to requesting that Holiday off Three weeks prior was told by are new manager who was braught on at the time It wouldn't be any problem Due to are Unit Manager who quit are District Manager Paul Welch who took over scheduling people had my request and refused to let me have that Holiday off Even After working every Holiday during the time of my employement and certain one who didn't put in a request got it off and also the one who went crying to him did I think their was too much favorits of certain employees going on in that certain store with certain employee. During the whole time in 10-months I've worked their I was wrote up and threatened my job because the Unit manager blamed me for gossip around the store on grave yard shift and it was the first and only write up I ever got never got warning write ups prior .

I went in to this store to pick up my last and final check on July 13th, 2009 and another fill-in manager was their from another store she had called another District Manager who was related to My District Manager set up a interveiw by phone to explain my side of what happened and she never called me like she had scheduled with me . their is alot going on in Wafflehouse Store # 999 with people coming to work selling drugs across the counter doing drugs out in their cars doing them while they are at work I've spoke to management about this are Unit Manager we used to have before she quit and nothing ever got done it was directed to the District and they never did anything either I don't think the owner Mr, Larry Cannon knows anything of this going on and til this day the same people are still doing the same thing inside this wafflehouse . I've even told the managers at one time I would like a transfer the said NO .

I think it boils down to is because i asked for one day off and i was tolld either I work it when I had family from out of town in or I was fired and I was terminated and when I was Hired I was told it was a family oreintated store.

I've never received a call from them when it was scheduled or anything and I loved my job and working with people I worked grave yard 10- months straight on called in one time with a migrain and was sick from it and was told to take something for it and come work my shift by paul welchs the district manager and wasn't able to even hold my head up this is the kind of people who manage these stores .

Its been one month since I was let go and still knowone has called me .

I wish to express my utter disgust at the treatment my family received by your manager at the Buckeystown Frederick location at Wafflehouse. Her name Sophie Bam. My cousin, whom is 16, started her first job at the Frederick location, and your manager and she became fast friends. My cousin has bi-polar disorder, and last Friday 7-11-14, ran away from home. Your 21 yer old manager harbored a runaway, by taking in my cousin, knowing she was a run away, and initially lied about her whereabouts. The police were at your establishment two different times looking for my cousin, and finally took her into their custody that following Sunday, after finding her working, even though the day before her guardian came in asking for her work license to be given back, as she was not allowed to work there anymore. Sophie Bam then LIED to my cousin, whom I must reiterate is a minor, and said she didn't have/couldn't find/was at the corporate office, her work permit. I do understand that it was most likely deceived by my cousin, but as an adult, as a person YOUR company trusts to hold a management position, this person not only lied and deceived to cover her own ###, but for a sixteen year girl who was not allowed to work at your establishment, this manager discarded the wishes of her guardian, and allowed a delinquent runaway, to continue working despite the fact that she knew that not only her family was looking for her but the police as well! And here she was allowing her to continue working and harboring her!

When the police showed up the second time at the restaurant to search for her, they found her working, and the manager admitted that my cousin had been staying with her.

And now to the part that has me writing this letter, to not only you but EVERY media outlet I can find.

My cousin denied that she was staying with your manager, and convinced Sophie to change her story to keep my cousin out of trouble. When Meegan and her guardian returned to the store to talk to the manager, the manager not only retraced her story but told my cousins guardian that it was SHE, SHE, who and I can directly quote "acting insane". This absolutely disgusting offensive term out of the mouth of your manger to the guardian of one of your FORMER employees, because as many problems as my cousin has at the moment, this lying, deceiving, disgusting excuse of a manager doesn't need to be another problem for her?

I understand that like most companies, Waffle House tried to employ those who can represent the brand to the best of their ability. This manager not only smeared the name of your company today by harboring a criminal, which is indeed illegal, but disrespected a customer in front of other employees and customers.

I demand that swift action be taken to remove this poor excuse of a manager from her position and this company, because I know that Waffle House does not accept this kind of behavior, and I know that Waffle House trains its employees better than to ever disrespect an employees family in front of customers like that, or at all! I know that Waffle House cares more about its brand, and it's costumers than to let this continue or EVER let this happen again, being a business about the people and all.

Sincerely a very dissatisfied customer.

Waffle House discrimination/harrassment

The Waffle House Corporation has long ago lost its traditional value of good customer service coming from making the employees happy. It has now become a number company, like so many other companies that start out and grow. It harasses its employees and make them do more work than most labor boards would allow but few employees complain because they need their jobs. I have several examples of how employees have been taken advantage of while the company rewards those who follow whatever trend is set at the time. Their is discrimination going on with the employees as well as the customers. Someone really needs to look into what the waffle house is doing.

I went into the new Waffle House in Clinton, SC Hwy 72 about 11:25, just last night, December 5, 2009.They were not particularily busy. There were just two guys there. The cook and a waiter. I was never greeted. I went ahead and sat down and waited 5 minutes. Still NO acknowledgement. The entire time, both cook and waiter spent flirting with four high school girls who'd just gotten back from the State Championship Football game in Columbia (SC)...Man who had already ordered and finished, came over and sat down to me at the counter. He waits, then goes "HEH, wanna' pay here". The waiter kinda' gives him the hand-sign, "YEA, wait a minute" while he continues to flirt with high school girls (btw, he was in his 20's, none of them were over 17). I got up and left and I think the man got up right after me.

Since then, I've talked to a couple of different folks today and they confirmed what I thought. This wasn't an isolated incident, but systematic. Many times folks have ordered take-outs, then waited 10 minutes to only find out (and those doing the ordering only have a 30 minute lunch break and unfortunately, now that the MacDonald's is being rebuilt, WH is the only place to open on 3rd shift) WH said they "never got the order". This has happened a couple of times. The person was late by a half-hour back to work (took an hour) to get the food.

I've got a call in to the company BUT I"m g0ing to go further than that. HELL, there are people needing jobs desperately. The radio talk shows around here are heard by alot of folks. I've actually gotten results from making PUBLICIZED complaints in the past!..

You know, they say one person will usually tell 10 about a bad experience. I'm going to tell a few thousand Monday morn!.As far as cleaninless issues, if you see a legitimate problem, don't tell the resturant BUT immeadiately call your local health department's emergency reporting line and then STAY on the inspectors.

The idea is, when WH or anyone else decides it's cheaper to do it right, then do it wrong, customers will be happy.

I worked at the Waffle House where I loved the customers but was treated so unfair. I did my job above and beyond the call of duity always hopen to make some kind of difference. It did not work and my efforts were endless. TO YOU ABOVE. Did you work there or are you a male jus caught up in the waffle house way? LOL. You need to read a book or consider one other than your self. I had a problem with my check the entire time i workd there. when i went to the management they would blow me off and never fix the problem. when i pushd the issue after being short on my check every week they would change my schedule with no prior notice i would drive takes me hour to get there i live far away jus loved the SPRINGVILLE AL STORE. and slept part of the day to work the 3rd shift 10 hours and they would have taken me off the schedule with no prior notice. question for you how would you feel? and if you were senior mang h0w long would you work there with no pay or your check messd up after workn so hard all week time and time again?

Waffle House paid for 2 orders...

After getting off work on July 4th, My husband and my daughter and I went to Waffle House for a late dinner. I placed an order to go for two all star plates. Well after getting the food and taking it to my son, he calls me and tells me that there wasn't any bacon, his girlfriend had one egg, no chili and 2 pieces of tomatoes was on his hashbrowns. I paid over 15.00 dollars for this food and to not get all that I was charged for is a shame. If the people there working spent more time paying attention to their job instead of listening to the Ipods and texting the their cell phones the service might be better. Get better people to work nights at these places and your business just might fair better then it does. I won't go there again, I assure you.

We are visiting Naples from out of town. We have been to this Waffle House on two or three occasions because it's walking distance from the hotel and open late. The late night employees there are the absolute rudest people we have ever encountered at a restaurant. Every single time we have been there the employees have extremely nasty attitudes. Second...every single visit they have screwed our orders up. They have either gave us the wrong order, burnt the food, and the last straw last night was the chicken sandwiches we brought back to the room were raw! We made a complaint with the manager and he acted as if he could care less. Needless to say...we will NEVER return again. We wasted money on raw food or burnt food or wrong orders on more than one visit. We do not reccommend this place to any one unless you like rude service or getting sick.

My family and I ate at the Smyrna, De on April 15 at about 4 a.m. location this morning. I have always gotten good service at this and other locations, until tonight. While we ordered our food, the cook went to his car and spent time talking to a woman, when he returned he went straight to the grill without washing his hands. When our food arrived there were several mistakes made (wrong toast, missing onions on hash browns and we had to ask later for my chili). We asked the server to simply fry us up the onions and bring them out instead of remaking the whole order. We had to ask the cook for refills and asked for my chili after ate my meal. When we asked the server about the onions she LOUDLY announced, “They’re coming alright!” and continued to run her mouth to anyone and everyone in the restaurant about us. My sister in-law commented to the server “I’m sorry but we did order it that way it’s not our fault it was wrong.” Then the waitress said” look I do not have to serve you. I’m not bringing you your toast now” to which we replied, “well don’t expect a tip with that attitude” she said she did not care and walked away ignoring our request for her and the cook’s name. She came back with our receipt (her name scratched off) and ran her mouth to every customer in the place about us using very colorful language. We ask the cook, who was quiet through all of this, what her name was, his reply was “Dave” we said no her he said “Donny” and she laughed aloud. The scratched off name looked like dauphine or something close. At that point I said “if you’re not serving me I’m not paying” she replied “I don’t give a s**t it’s not my money”
I can’t tell you enough how mad and astonished that anyone with this type of attitude has a job working with the public. I am done eating at Waffle House at this point. I have never been treated with such disrespected at any place ever. I will be spreading the word of my experience to everyone I know.
Thank you

The waitress' are either to old to be a waitress or to rude.
The cooks are to slow. All around service was awful. Waffle House is not what it used to be. I have a family of 12 to 15 that used to go at least once to twice a week, now we got to find a different place to go. Thats sad that we as the public has to suffer such bad service.
My name is Evelyn Pele. My phone number is [protected], I would like someone to apologize to my family and I.

To supervisior or management:

I was in this waffle house this afternoon around 3:15. I had order a small salad. The waitress told me there wouldn't none made up. She didn't offer to make one up. The other strong complaint that I have is I notice when the cook was preparing food, she doesn't wear gloves. She was handling all the food that we order and wearing no gloves. This really turn my stomach. I have worked in a school lunchroom before and the workers wear gloves. When the waitress brought the food, I notice that she had let one of the sandwiches touch her apron which I thought was very unsanitary. I think that I need to run this by the health department and get there opinion on it.

Thank-you

We arrived at Unit 440 off Montague Ave. on July 14th at around 8:45pm and there were no customers but all the tables were dirty. We stood and waited or someone to come and clean them. We ordered our food and i told the waitress please cook my eggs very well. she brought them back almost not fried at all. she took them back to the cook and he complains about how i want it! my son ordered a chocolate milk, she brought him a coke. as we were eating, two waitresses went into the back and started yelling at each so loud it was unbearable! The waitress just hovered over our table and kept asking literally every 2 minutes if my husband wanted more tea after he stated no the first 2 times. I then made up my mind that I will never return to this location ever, ever again! This was ridiculous! No professionalism in this place at all!

Ok, I called the WF after Xmas eve, when the 3rd shift walked out, rather than stay and work. The 2nd shift was going bonkers, after all they are the only place open. Then 2 hours later the 3rd shift is allowed back to work. Well I called to complain, about what they were saying, and to uphold the manager. What happened? They complaint department, gave me a higher like regional manager who I talked to and then told the employees in question what I said and even embellished it. Needless to say when I went back and had to face one of the employees it was not nice. IF they keep running a business like this, then they will go broke.

On March 12, 2017 8:30 AM Waffle House located at 9293 Hwy 48 Gulfport, Mississippi. My son got home on leave from Iraq, still in his uniform. When he got off the air plane he stated he needed something to eat and wanted to go to a waffle house. We sat at the counter for 45 minutes being ignored, a bus boy did give US a coffee and tea. I attempted to get the waitresses attention twice by saying 'mam', as she passed by me, within two feet of me, but was ignored. As we were leaving, without eating, we were charged for the coffee and tea, workers at the Waffle house acted like it was a big funny joke about not serving an active duty Army man. Beings back in Viet Nam doesn't it. Coming home to AMERICA and being treated like this. I am calling for a BOYCOTT of all waffle Houses in the WORLD.

Waffle House - cook sexually soliciting

I was In the waffle house this morning, May 24th 2009 around 10am. When I not only watched but was also the victom of the cooks sexual solicitation of a much older male customer. She was talking rather loudly about how much money it would take to get her to go home with this gentlemen for a few hours. Then she started telling about how she used to be a...

Waffle House no customer service

We are visiting Naples from out of town. We have been to this Waffle House on two or three occasions because it's walking distance from the hotel and open late. The late night employees there are the absolute rudest people we have ever encountered at a restaurant. Every single time we have been there the employees have extremely nasty attitudes.

Second... every single visit they have screwed our orders up.

We do not recommend this place to any one unless you like rude service or getting sick.

Waffle House hair in food

My husband and I were hungry around 3 am so we decided to go to The Waffle House. When we got in in we were treated very well. The only thing about them was that no gloves or hairnets were worn. I ordered eggs and as I was eating there was a red strand of hair weave in my plate, so I decided to get a salad it was not fresh and looked like it had been in the fridge for days. As the waitress brought us our glasses she grabbed them by the inside, we were very disgusted with this filthy restaurant and workers.. I called the next day and explained to the manager what happened she just said ok and... Please dont go to this filthy restaurant just like us you may not make it five miutes...

Waffle House terrible experience

Southern Waffle House purchased the Nashville based franchise from Tree Top Group in 1999 by the Shaub family and have grown the business now to 113 stores. Those of us who grew up with Waffle House (from the 1950's) know that WH is a legend in their own time, and we know and appreciate what we have had over years. SE WH recently chose Chapter 11 bankruptcy to cure their problems and now it appears their are other, more malicious events including check kitting, embezzlement of company funds, numerous harassment charges by employees, poor hiring practices, unclean/unsafe food preparation, taking advantage of new employees, rampant stealing by employees and management, drug use by employees including sales in their bathrooms and this can go on and on. Numerous calls and written complaints to corporate management in Georgia brings nothing and the local store is informed and the complainer questioned by store management, in one case told to not come back to the store solely on the basis of a justified complaint.

This WH franchisee will hire anyone based upon their ability to breathe and to sometimes wash their hands. They hire druggies, common criminals, major criminals who are not screened for the protection of their customers sake, active and ex prostitutes, barmaids who have been run out of the liquor business. They go out to the truckstops and pickup 'pavement princesses' to act as waitresses, hire them THEN ignore the stealing, shortchanging customers, etc.

After nearly 50 years of patronizing WH, locally in Nashville and traveling the southeast, we will not grace the foyer of any of these hashhouses again. Hash used to mean a food substance now it appears as an illegal substance. Unforgivable, not worth your money, your self esteem or your time to support. These are trash houses serving food not fit for humans OR animals and they need to close... starting with SE Waffle based in Nashville and regionally with their 113 stores. Garbage merchants...

Very good description. Said it better than I did. Apparently you remember when it was quite the place.

I visited my daughter and grand kids over the Thanksgiving holidays and we went to Waffle house No 353. My wife and i ordered a patty melt and we dreceived two pieces of white toast with a slice of cheese on each and a hamburger patty with no grilled onions or pickles and it was open face. The server and cooks did not know what i was talking about when told that this was not the patty melt but just a cheese burger with two slices of cheese and then that took the plate back and came back with a couple of half grilled slices of onions. I though that the personnel was trained better than that and have never experience such at any of the waffle houses in the Metro Atlanta Area and we do go often to the local ones.

Waffle House - unfairness

The manager in the waffle house (alabaster al) does not treat employees equally. She has her favorites and it really shows. I was a first shift employee for 3 months and she hired back a girl who was working 3rd and gave her my first shift position. I talked to the manager about it and she told me that the girl never quit. (even though she was put on the no...

Waffle House worst treatment ever

Waffle House

Cuisine

On July 25th 2007 between the hours of 6.30 and 7.25 PM. we were harassed by a Waffle House Manage named Connie.

First Connie demanded that we order immediately because there were other orders in from of us. We explained that we were waiting on another person and connive responded with a "Whatever" and turned around and walked off.

A very nice young man by the name Carl waited on us later providing excellent service. When our other party arrived her car bumped into the curb. Connie mad a big issue of this stating that a man by the name of Stafford Belk would be more than happy to sue her for damages if there was any. When the young lady went out to move her car, Connie confronted me with the threat that I would be held responsible for damages. I informed Connie the vehicle was not mine and I would not be held responsible for anything. Connie told me not to get sassy with her that Stafford Belk had sued and won a case against somebody else for $800.00 for driving across the grass and that she was going to call him and tell him that it was my fault.

Upon inspection there was no damage including even a black mark on the curb, things settled down for a while and Carl continued to service our table until Connie out of cruelty alone demanded he clean up his section and go home.

We cut our meal short, paid and went to a adjoining parking lot to wait to see if the police or Stafford Belk came since the threat had been made. While in the adjoining parking lot, Connie came out of the back door and glared at us while smoking a cigarette for at least 15 minutes.

We later went to the other Waffle House on Cherry Rd. where we had excellent friendly service and was informed by the waitress that many customers had came into the Cherry Rd. Waffle House with similar complaints and it would be best not to go back because Connie's husband also worked at the Anderson Rd. Waffle House and they had a reputation for starting problems with customers who had previous bad episodes with either, then having the customer banned from the premises.

The cherry Rd, Waffle House waitress also informed us that she had been banned from the Anderson Rd. Waffle House property by Connie and that Connie had been recently fired for spitting in a employees face but rehired as manager again within a few days.

In retrospect; It is tough enough to put up with a person having a bad day who is paid to wait on you but would rather threaten customers directly and through third parties to extort or sue you for $800.00 for bumping into a curb, and it's even tougher to see that person abuse their position by being cruel to their subordinates...

I would strongly suggest anyone not wanting to witness or be a party to the same treatment not go to the Anderson Rd. Waffle House.

To Whom It May Concern: This incident took place last night 10/24 at around 10pm. My girlfriend and I went to a movie Newport, KY.
