Voip.com Voip.com lied about the Walmart Gift card

I rec'd a call about getting internet phone service for $19.95 a month. I told the telemarketer I was not interested because I already had a service for much less than that. He asked how much and I said $1.70 per month. He then said they would pay me to try it and would give me a $100 Walmart Gift card. I asked how soon I would get that, and he told me it would be in the box that the equipment came in. I also got an additional # and cell phone service, to try for 3 free months. I figured, how could I lose with getting a $100 Walmart gift card in the package they were mailing to me with the equipment in it. Well I rec'd the package on Wed.May 20, 2009. I immediately looked for the card and it was not there. I called the company and told them I had not rec'd the gift card. I was then told I was not supposed to get it for 3 mos. Well that really teed me off. I would never had gotten the service if I had been told that in the first place because I already had service cheaper. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the person I talked to said none was available. I told him to try and he then said he would have the salesmanager call, but he never did. They wanted a $29.95 equipment deposit, supposedly fully refundable, that had to be paid with the order, + another $8+ dollars for mailing. Since they mailed it they may be in trouble for mail fraud. I still have not rec'd call back from them and do not expect to. I will call again tomorrow May 26th, to see if they can fix this. If they do I will get back to this website and if they don't I will also get back with this website.

Voip.com No refunds policy

I subscribed to VOIP.com for a year. After having trouble getting a number assigned the service worked okay for the price. Just before the annual renewal came up I was having trouble with delays when we tried to talk. VOIP.com emailed me stating I would be automatically enrolled for a second year if I didn't contact them. They also said that if I was having any trouble to go the their help forums and it would be resolved quickly. I didn't get a chance to experiment with the phone until the exact day of re-enrollment. I went through the FAQ and tried all ideas that offered. I then contacted the tech support forum. After 3 or 4 days with no response I canceled the account, boxed up the equipment, and returned it as directed. I used about 21 minutes trying to call my work voice mail to see if the delay was better. They have refused to refund my $212.73 annual payment because it is against their policy. So if you want a few days of non-service for 200 bucks, this is the place to go. How American is this? I am ashamed that these types are so insensitive and unreasonable. It was against my policy to pay for the first month and not have a telephone number assigned but I sucked it up.

Voip.com Extremely poor service uptime!

I have had VOIP for a few months it has always been intermittent but is getting worse by the day. For the past week it has been down more then up. It's been so bad that now I have to use my cell phone (and run up my expenses) to operate my work since my VOIP is always done. I was unfortunate enough to think the 1yr cost effective plan was a good idea. All it does is lock you into losing money for a years worth of service.

VOIP not only has extremely poor service, but the support is worse. I'm not digging the technical support folks who I am sure are trying very hard to fix the mess, but there is poor customer support for complaints, issues and money back. If the service is not working for days on end there should be an offer a refund for lost service and an offer to cancel service so you can at least go purchase a service that DOES work.

Not only has this caused me endless frustration. It's cost me a lot of money. Lots business, use f my personal cell phone so folks can reach me and now a cancellation fee to get myself out of it. BIG FUN they charge you money for the fact that the aren't providing you service so you have to go get another service that does work. Cancellation fee $39.95 and if you perchance don't return the modem which of course has to be shipped out of you own pocket $, then they will charge you another $55.

What a scam... who are they kidding. Is this supposed to be a business? It's JOKE!

You should have research and check forums and sites like this about any service you plan to get or subscribed. I never use VoIP.com but sometimes call quality problems are difficult to pinpoint thats why there's no guarantee whats working with your friend in another city will work for you too.

Also this is why a lock in period is not because you can not get out of the contract without paying a cancellation fee if the service keeps on screwing you up.

I suggest you look for a 1 month free trial period on your next voip provider or a prepaid voip service like Onesuite.com so you can quit anytime you want without paying a cancellation fee or losing the months you already paid for.

Voip.com Nothing free!

1 month of FREE service with voip.com is not FREE. I canceled my service and returned the adapter before the month was up. They charged $41.99 to my credit card for canceling. I called the company and they would not remove the hidden fee.

I was with sunrocket and loved them! Switched to voip.com and unfortunately prepaid for one full year of service at $199. After suffering for 5 months, finally decided to take the loss and find another carrier. Have loved my new carrier when suddenly my phone stopped working. Totally dead! Discovered Voip.com put in an order to re-port my number back to them... no 3rd party verification... no approval from me. Their phone customer support couldn't help me. Directed me to an online fourm and their only response was 'we opened a ticket with our carrier'. So still without any phone service since I don't have their stinking 'gizmo' installed anymore. They basically stole my phone number back. I thought I was rid of them and here they are! STAY AWAY. They shouldn't be in business. My account was still opened because if I closed it I would get socked with a termination fee. They have an option to 'cancel on anniversary' so I opted for that. I think that is the trigger to do what they did to me. check out their forum on porting numbers and I am not the only one they did this to. Many really unhappy previous customers! I'll say it one more time... 'stay away from voip.com'. Their $199 a year is nowhere near sunrockets $199 a year!

The best way to get your money back is to complain to the attorney general of your state and you can also complain to the FCC. They have online complaints and they have to respond to the agencies, I've found fairly quick results this way. Enough complaints will cause an audit.

I don't think Voip.com will be around long (because of such poor customer relations and phone service) so the sooner you do this the better off you may be. Another route would be to contact your credit card company and inform them of a fraudulent payment and they will usually credit your account.

Good Luck!

This company lies and tells you that you can get your money back if you change your mind and then they charge you over 45.00 dollars and then charge you another 41.00 dollars again when you dont wont to get their service. I changed my mind the next day and still got charged over 86.00 dollars. and they wont give me my money back.

Do Not Use This Company. They will cheat You.

Voip.com Misleading promotional advertising, charged a disconnection fee of 14.90

On 12/05/06 I read an ad on voip.com about using their phone service. The ad said if you sign up and your not satisfied with the service, and you cancel in the first 30 days they will refund your money.

Voip.com has 2 ways of using there service. First by using their equipment and connecting your phone to it, and by using a computer based phone system called Softphone. I signed up for softphone and used their service for about 10 days. I cancelled the service and they charged a disconnect fee of 14.90. I asked if I was eligible for refund and got 2 different answers but they ultimately told me I would not get a refund because of their terms of service. Nowhere in the ad did it say softphone was excluded from the guarantee. I also thought the ad was promotional so it overroad the terms of service for that period. Below is the ad I read:

Risk-Free Guarantee

We want everyone in the world to experience the benefits of voip. So, here's a revolutionary idea — try us for a month. If you like voip (like we know you will), keep us. If you don't like us, we'll credit your first payment. Sure, we'll cry a little bit, but we'll move on. We know that you'll love the voip service. If you feel more comfortable knowing that you can cancel, we're more than happy to provide this risk-free option for you.
