VitalChek bad service

So I called the hospital I was born at and asked them to get a copy of my birth certificate. First of all I need the certificate because I just got married and the state I live in will not let me change my drivers license or social security card or anything without the birth certificate.

Anyways, they tell me to go to this website and just fill out the identity verification stuff and then they would process the payment and be done with it.

Well, I put in all the information and it said my identity could not be verified. Here's the beginning of a 2 week nightmare with these people.

They have me fax in an enlarged lightened copy of my driver's license along with a signature (maiden name). A few days go by and I decide to call them and they say that the information is unacceptable because I signed it with my maiden name... Then the other problem is 'the signature does not look like a signature - it looks like a printed name'... um my bad for writing neatly? So after faxing the information with a different signature they deem it unacceptable because it doesn't look like the signature on my driver's license... well that was 5 years ago when I got this license! So the lady tells me to fax a blank piece of paper with just a signature on it and after faxing AGAIN they tell me that it is unacceptable because there was no drivers license associated with the signature... and THEN they send me an email saying QUOTE: 'your account is currently on hold as we are needing you to confirm the mother's maiden name' and then when I called to give them the information, the lady argued with me saying that the email did not say that! REALLY?!?!?!? so then I call and speak with the manager and she tells me that she's looking at the account and EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT AND SHE CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE ACCOUNT..

You are much better off directly mailing your request for a birth, death or marriage record. They get you pay them a $12.95 processing fee on top of the fee you would pay the county. Then if you don't pay an optional $19.00 airmail fee they purposely delay your order. They will not provide a phone number or way to cancel your order. They hold your order hostage for longer than directly mailing the county would take.

I'm hoping their unethical business practices do not interfere with our upcoming trip.

Rip Off!

Lexis Nexis should be embarassed to own this company.

VitalChek nys is lazy

i recieved what i thought was going to be my birth certificate yesterday. instead it was a letter stating that no record was found. glad i paid the 65.00 to have nothing done and no refund.I contacted nys to find out that i needed to contact the village clerk where i was born. After spending 5 mins on the phone with this wonderful woman(village clerk) she said "why yes we have you right here. Now all you need to do is write down your info and mail it to me with a 10.00 check and you will be all set!" Maybe NYS needs to hire me and this town clerk to put forth some effort! Called vital check and had refund request put through so we will see what happens...

VitalChek Terrible service!

Don't get involved with this company! they take your money and THEN tell you instructions that make you jump through all kinds of hoops to get your birthcertificate. THEN they don't send it, don't acknowledte your faxes, don't answer your emails. Don't send back your money. They just DON'T. They truly don't care either. I sincerely hope their business goes down in flames!

On January 4, 2010, I ordered a birth certificate for my aunt, who is 73 years old. She had a hard time obtaining an ID without a birth certificate, and she could not get a birth certificate without an ID. So we were really looking for other options. The people at the Health Dept. gave us this number to call at Vital Check, I paid $50.00 for what I though...

VitalChek fraud

I ordered several birth and death certificates via vitalchek with a credit card, with the understanding that and estimated processing time was 7 - 10 days. I had to pay extra for this service. I could have made a mail in request for the wait time of 6 - 8 weeks. I ordered on 9 / 8 / 09 and my card was charged promptly. My order had "been sent for processing on 9 / 9 / 09". A reltaive of mine also made a request the same day, hers was honored in a timely manner. On 10 / 12 / 09 with no certificates in sight, i called an 800 number from my email confirmation (Good luck finding contact info on the website) . I was told they could submit a request that would take an additional 3 - 5 days to get a response. I asked to speak to someone else. The next person told me that their was no way they could contact the state by phone and that i would have to wait the 3 - 5 days. She also told me that they were the customer service for the state but still could not make contact via telephone. Hmmmm. . . So i asked to speak to a supervisor. I told them we should resolve the issue today or get my money back. They told me they would look into it (After 30 mintues of trying to talk circles around me) . None of them seemed able to count the days on the calendar and were completely lost when it came to customer service. When i did finally get a return call, they informed that it is taking longer because it is a genealogy search. (Mind you the same kind of search my relative did) . When i informed them of this little hiccup, they went back to saying their only service is to send the request in, nothing more. They feel they went above and beyond with their service by simply answering the phone and refusing to give me a time frame. They were very quick to point out that 7 - 10 days is simply an estimate and is in no way a guarantee of any kind. I asked to speak to the supervisior of shakora who refused this request, stating simply that it is not possible. I asked for an address and was simply told we don't have a location. When i asked if she was floating in space she seemed offended. Each person i spoke with offered a new excuse as to why my order had not been filled. They were all very quick to note that their only service is to send the request. They refuse to refund the money and actually made me quite testy in the process. I firmly believe i have been scammed out of my money at this point and will until the matter is resovled. Shakora could not offer any dates as to when this matter might be resolved but simply asked that i trust her, when i have been lied to by this company at least 4 times, 3 of those today. I strongly recommend against using this company as they can not hold true to estimates thier own website. I also recommeded they change their "estimates" to a time frame more fitting.

I first contacted VitalChek on May 18th to get a copy of my birth certificate for an important state permit. It is now July 13th and I still do not have my document. Over the past TWO MONTHS I have faxed copies of my state driver's license several times but they keep emailing me back (many days later) telling me I need to resubmit ID verification. They suggested I enlarge the picture by 200% and darken it. I did that. I even tried several different shades of darkness and none of them worked.

Note, none of the six figure business deals I do by fax have EVER been kicked back to me. Why can't VitalChek get a fax machine that can print legible copies?

I've been unable to reach any customer service people and no one bothers to call the phone number I gave them to let me know what to do. This was supposed to be fast and easy. It's been none of the above. I'm very angry and frustrated with this company. I would advise anyone who needs vital documents to AVOID VitalChek, especially if it's urgent and important.

This company should be shut down immediately!

I ordered Birth Certificates for my children and they said I should receive them within 3-5 days and it's been 10 and I can't get a response because every time you call they say they are experiencing high delays and your wait can be over 30 minutes. They also encourage you to call back at a later time. I have held on 3 different occassions for over 40 minutes and no one ever answers the phone. This is awful customer service and a total ripoff. I should have reviewed all of the complaints about them online before ordering from them.

I was looking for my deceased fathers birth certificate. I was lead through a maze with Vitalchek. They took my creditcard information first, then put a disclaimer that if they were unsuccessful that a charge would be placed on my card regardless. I DID NOT AGREE TO THOSE TERMS and opted out using the DISAGREE (with terms) button. It wouldnt let me off the screen so I closed my browser. THey have placed a charge against my account and even after contacting them through email, they insist that I owe them money. I have received emails saying that I need to provide more information, which they will not get. I OPTED OUT.

I used *veryfrusratedInCt* advice in the post just before mine, and politely threatened to contact the B.B.B. again? ha ha I received an
email couple hours later saying everthing is complete with my order and its on its way. Please understand I have been faxing and uploading the same document over and over, on hold, emailing fuming and crying for weeks getting the same email sent to me over and over with no news except upload or fax again from a bot. I have received my doc and I WOULDNT RECCOMEND vitalchek. Im lucky to have found this site or I would still be waiting. Thank you *veryfrustratedInCt* great advice. Its worth a try, and worked for me and all I did was bluff.

I uploaded the document, 200%, lightened for legibility; now, a week letter I have received the e-mail saying they have not received proper identification, and that they retain the right to keep my money. I don't appreciate a threat that suggests they will keep my $70ish dollars for 5 birth cert due to a system failure on their part. Looks like I need to fax it, but reading former complaints from others, I'm expecting that my transmission method won't change the outcome. But here goes nothing... I'm very disappointed. I thought that by paying this extra service fee and high shipping costs, excellent service would be delivered. To be continued...

On March 9, 2009 i ordered my birth certificate, yes through VitalChek! $43.00 I paid them, with my husbands credit card. I am a stay at home mom with no pay! My husband would and has only allowed this one time use of his credit card/bank card! I had just begun my compter/internet experience. Having three days under my belt, i was taught a very important/expensive lesson! THANK YOU VitalChek! The California vital records office finally called me about two months later. Just being helpful they explained to me that the money i paid would not be buying my birth cert.! Like a child I asked, "WHY!" Because i had went through VitalCheks site, that was basically their fee, and it would not be paying for my birth cert.! Now, more money would be needed to pay the "REAL" vital records! THANK you Ca. for that courtesy call! Here we are February 8, 2011 still have no birth cert. Can't really understand how these people havn't been shut down! Can anybody HELP, still can't use the credit card on line or w/out my husband right next to me like a child, and I'am 36yrs old! Well you really taught me!

I tried to obtain a death certificate for my father, and had the same results: multiple uploads of my ID, none of which were acceptable to them. Then, they didn't like my official sealed birth certificate from the State of Missouri. Next, it was that my signature wasn't identical in every way to my ID signature. I'm usually a very reasonable person, but I am chronically ill, in mourning, and forced to deal with tons more crap than I should have to because these incompetents can't seem to get it together. This drove me to the end of my patience, and I ended up being rather strident with the neighboring state's Dept. of Vital Records. I talked to their Vitalchek rep., who wanted me to jump through all the same hoops again because she can't access the files directly. I insisted on a FULL refund, and will be checking my credit card tonight to make sure I got one. The service is the worst imaginable, and these [censor]s will make your life far more difficult than it has to be. Don't use them if you have any other recourse.

VitalChek no response

Placed order for a death certificate months ago and no response. Called 800 number and got a recording and waited for an hour with no one to talk with. When on went to their website and gave id # and pin #, it showed the numbers expired (No wonder!)

These are scam artists. Don't believe their advertisements

VitalChek withholding birth record

I called the WVA Bureau of Vital statistics when I moved from FL to WVA to obtain a certified copy of my birth certificate which I needed to obtain a VA driver's license. I paid $49.00 to have this mailed UPS, and was told WVA would send the copy the day after they received the request. Received a letter from VITALCHEK stating they needed my current driver's license copy mailed to them enlightened 3 times and enlarged 200%. So I went to the library and copied the driver's license 155% (their copier won't enlarge higher), and lightened it 3 times. Vitalcheck wouldn't take this copy as verification of my identity. Keep in mind I could read the copy just fine. I also had to pay for this copy and to have it faxed. Now we are up to about $53.00 in charges. Okay, so I get another letter and automated phone call stating they can't read my copy. So I went to another office supply store and paid more money to have the license lightened 3 times and enlarged 200% again. I also paid for the new fax. Now we are up to about $57.00 in charges. Vitalcheck still refused to release my birth certificate copy saying they couldn't read it. They only illegible thing was the year of the duplicate copy of the driver's license that had been issued. What does that have to do with proving my identity? This whole thing is absolutely ridiculous. I have waited over a week for one certified birth certificate copy so I can get a driver's license and job. I even had sent WVA a xerox copy of my birth certificate with the certificiate number on it to expedite this process. What kind of scam is vitalchek running?

VitalChek rip off

They charge a high fee and promise that they will deliver birth certificates and other vital statistics certificates in an expedited fashion. However, they provide no added value. I received a notice from NYC that the information on my birth certificate application via Vital Chek was incomplete I contacted VitalChek to ask them to make the correction. I was told "it is out of our hands now, contact NYC directly." It turns out it is literally impossible to get through to NYC vital stats by phone and I had to start the process all over by mailing an application to NYC at a fraction of the fee originally charged by VitalChek. They are a total ripoff -- avoid like the plague.

Vital Chek is a big scam. Paid 40 dollars for grandfathers birth Cert and got a email stating that they needed more info. I got my mothers birth cert and mine for them and up loaded it. called the rep and he told me that was all they needed. I get another email stating that they could not read my drivers license for the second time. So I called the rep and they said that it is readable. now it is 20 days later and there still is not Cert. I call them and they tell me that it is still processing... VitalCheck is a rip off. Do NOT use this service. I will have to cancel my CC because I gave them my number; and they have my vital records. I paid for a death cert and never got one. What I got was a run-around of asking for the same information again and again; I sent it to them and the response I get is to ask for it again. Never use this service. NEVER NEVER NEVER

VitalChek received the order for my Birth Certificate on SEPTEMBER 15, 2009. They say they sent it to my state health department on 9/17/09. As of today I have not received my Birth Certificate NOR A RESPONSE TO INQUIRIES!
I called and the rep said it had only been 6 days since the order. I read from my receipt the date it was received and she said she must have been looking at the wrong numbers. DUH!
She took my number stating that she would call me back with a "status" report. That was a week ago - no call.
I sent an email with this information. The return email says they will respond in 5 days! They must have a ton of email complaints if it takes that long to get a response! I would venture to suggest that I'll never get an email either. (Best predictor of future behavior is PAST behavior.)
I called again October 26, 2009, and got a message that the help number, [protected] was no longer in use! Are they out of business?
I suppose I've lost my money to a negligent, dishonest business. Their ads say clients should get Birth Certificates in no more than two weeks. Try six weeks and still nothing!
What can I do? To whom can I report this?

I am writing this compliment to VitalCheks for helping me in a timely and orderly fashion. I do not know what any of these other people are talking about because I used VitalChek.com to order a Certified Birth Certificate from Kern County on 5/04/09, faxed in a notarized "Sworn Stament" on 5/05/09 (after business hours), they mailed my birth cert. to me on 5/06/09 and recieved my Certified Birth Certificate on Friday 5/08/09... WOOOOOOW! That is service!

I don't believe this post for a second. Why would anyone log on to a complaint site to post something positive about the service a company advertises as their normal course of business? This was most certainly posted by an employee of the company trying to cover up their fraudulent practices, which in itself is yet ANOTHER FRAUD committed by VitalChek.

VitalChek online fraud

This company sent my birth certificate, including all my most private info, with Social Security number, to a stranger! I got a call from a stranger in Oregon (I am in New England), who also ordered a birth certificate from Vitalchek. They got an envelope addressed to them, but with MY certified birth certificate inside. Thank God it went to a decent person, who called my cell phone number, which was with my info inside. They are going to mail it to me. Now, they don't know where their birth certificate is, as they have not received their correct one.

If this info had gotten into the wrong hands, someone could easily steal my identity with it! It seems pretty ridiculous that I had to get a notarized authorization form sent to the state of CA, proving I was who I am, in order to have the birth certificate issued. And then, it ends up getting sent to a total stranger!

This company should be put out of business! The internet is full of complaints about them. I only wish I had done my research before using them! DO NOT trust them with your vital, private info!

I've seen so many complaints and was concerned about ordering my birth certificate through VitalChek, but I needed it quickly and it seemed okay since the county's site said to use VitalChek to pay with card online. So I took a chance and I am very, very pleased. The site says if you order it through regular mail it takes 7-10 business days but I ordered mine on Monday (3/7/11) and got it today, Friday (3/11/2011) in the mail. I'm not sure what's going on with all these people calling it scam and/or having problems getting certificates through VitalChek but I have absolutely no complaints. Maybe some people are not entering information correctly or something? I don't know and I feel bad for those having problems but, in my opinion, VitalChek is definitley NOT a scam. Good luck!

I request a birth certificate to Vital Check and after i was charged they send me more papers to fill out, i believe this is a scam they charge you first and then they drop the bomb that u need to copy paste scan and send them more information. I try to find the phone number to contact them with out luck.
Really poor service its a shame that the state of Texas referred me to them.
I'm trying to get my money back and if I'm lucky they won't take it all in hidden fees.

May 12, 2009!
In good faith I placed an order and my credit card was charged on March 26th. I have been patient and in contact with thier office numerous times. I have yet to receive even a confirmation that the order had been shipped. The claims you they about delivery time are obviously bogus. I have taken a new job but can not start until I have a birth certificate. It is doubtful the position will be held for more than a few more days.

I ordered a couple of death certificates about 2 and a half weeks ago to be sent from Connecticut to Canada and paid 56.95 total. Our family needs this information as soon as possible for legal purposes. I hope they will be decent and refund me my money or is this the American way...

I got the impression that they were supported by the government agency that issues these documents. If they don't deliver what I paid for I will try to shut them down.

On June 8, 2007 I placed an order for an expedited certified copy of a Birth Certificate for travel purposes. My credit card was billed on on June 14, 2007. The certificate service was advertised as being delivered in 7 days - 2 weeks. It has been 30 days. Although I was issued an order confirmation number and directed to track the process of my order I...
