USAA - settling an auto accident claim

I have been unable to obtain a fair settlement for an automobile accident that occurred on Dec. 21, 2019. My 2016 Cadillac was struck from the rear by a USAA Policy holder. I was sitting still at a Pharmacy Drive up window. When the other vehicle slammed into my car. The other driver, apologized and accepted full responsibility. I promptly reported the event to USAA. They verified the claim and accepted responsibility for the damage. They sent me to their shop, Service King in Dallas. I was told that the damage would be checked there. The shop briefly looked at the damage. The young man refused to open the trunk and view that damage. I told him twice that it would open and reclose fine. He tried hard to persuade me to leave my car and accept a rental on the spot. At this point I realized that USAA and this shop had devised a way to get around the Texas Law explicitly prohibits an insurance company from requiring repairs at a shop of THEIR choosing. Had I left my car. I was told it would be torn down and the shop would negotiate the price and what else would be done. Obviously I would have no say in the process. I would have to take it or leave it. The only option would be trying to move a partially dismantled vehicle to another shop...not a desirable choice. In effect no choice. A few days later I received a check for $4, 000 . I had not discussed this or agreed to anything. The check has not been cashed. I sent an email refusing to accept it as a settlement. No response from USAA before or since. I had also advised them that I had 3 estimates 2 from Cadillac Shops, and one from a highly reviewed independent. The average of the 3 is approximately $8, 600. I advised USAA that since they were totally uncooperative I was going to advise their insured accordingly. This man is 87 years old. I was left with only one viable alternative. I filed suit against this elderly gentleman a month ago. At no point has his Company done anything to settle this since arbitrarily sending the ridiculously insufficient $4000. My point in making this complaint is to make. current and potential policyholders aware of what to expect from USAA. If they will subject an 87 year old established client to the stress of a lawsuit, with a jury trial yet. Having made no effort to avoid it. What do they think 🤔 that Co. will do for them? This is not the USAA that had an A Rating with the BBB. They now literally have an F. i'll Be fine I have a different company 😜.

USAA - auto insurance

USAA Auto Insurance has performed miserably I have been a USAA member for 43 years and paid a premium for all my insurance needs because I felt that their service would be the best if ever needed. I was wrong. I had my first claim on Friday October 23 – my personal auto was in an accident. On the following Tuesday they declared it a total loss and offered me a payout. It turned out pay out was 30% less than the replacement value. I called the claim rep to get some help and understanding. I was only able to leave a message which I did each work day for 5 days in a row. I never got a return call. Finally in complete frustration I called the USAA office for new insurance. That did result in a call back. I was basically told to go pound sand. They would not consider my replacement value need and there was no appeal process. To further aggravate me they told me that I only had 4 more days in the rental car. As we speak, the rental car has been turned in and I have not received a check for the car that was totaled. I am now buying insurance from the agency that has the lowest cost. It is not USAA.

USAA - refusal to take payments over the phone

My husband and I have a cancelled credit card through USAA. He is the primary user and I am listed as an authorized user. I have called repeatedly and had my husband get on the phone to authorize me to be able to pay---yes pay--on the account. Now mind you these are automated systems in every other situation. Only USAA has you talk to someone directly, and they keep refusing to take my payment. It should not matter to them if a complete stranger wants to make a payment on a bill, let alone the wife who is listed as a card user.
They can certainly collect late fees this way.

I am going to report this to every relevant agency, as well as the Better Business Institute.

Please be very careful when dealing with this company. By the way, my husband is a US Marine Veteran--the very people this company claims to support.

my husband and I have our checking and credit card with USAA. this past month I went on and paid our balance on our card, not knowing that some how another payment has been scheduled to go on the card on the same day. well so you think anyone at USAA could help and fix this problem? heck no. 4 day later and over 8hours on the phone with customer service most of the time on hold and nothing as of today my money might be release some time next week if at all. sad that this bank could careless about its customer's, they have no customer service cause no one knows how to do their job at all. they just pass you from one person to the next and they all reassure you that they are the ones to help and fix the problem but by the end of the call no way do any of them do anything to fix the problem. it sick that being on social security this bank stole $466.21 from us and act like its no big deal.
We will be ending our accounts with USAA by the end of the month..

USAA - mortgage loan application

Hastily pre-approved for a mortgage without completely understanding my situation. Do not hear from them about a problem until less than 2 weeks before closing.

Waste a week going back and forth with their inept mortgage processors trying to get them to understand my situation and correctly convey that information to their underwriter.

Final straw was a senior loan officer telling us to LIE on our application and say the home was a secondary residence when in fact it will be our primary. She stated this was the only way we would get approved. By lying on a loan application where you sign your name stating that if you lie on it then you could be sent to jail.

We transferred our loan to more capable people. AVOID AVOID AVOID at all costs, I will never deal with them again they are idiots and don't care about their members.

I had the same experience. USAA pre-approved the loan, kept asking for paperwork and knew that the underwriters were probably going to deny the loan. Always out of the office and didn't return calls. We found out 2 weeks prior to a closing date that they turned us down and had to find out that information from someone other than our loan processor. AVOID AVOID AVOID like the plague! I've been a USAA member for over 20 years. Their life insurance department is just as bad as well.

USAA - misleading tactics and information

Veterans need to stay far away from this company at all cost. They promise you the world at a low cost, but it eventually cost you an arm and a leg. They set you up with a loan processor who returns your calls at their leasure and never gives you the information you request, i.e., final closing costs, it's always "We are still processing this information". It took two weeks to gain this information from them, even though they had all my figures on hand involving this VA loan mortgage. They work at their leasure, especially working with your agent and attorney. Go elsewhere...for your own sake and sanity!

Just responding to your complaint. I work in the Colordao Springs office. I can tell you that at least my office is on what is known as a "work slowdown". Since us mortgage processors are not unionized, we have little recourse when huge work demands are made upon us. For example, our average caseload is 80 borrowers! We have got to process 80 different loan files concurrently with no support and no systems training! The only way to "get rid" or move oans off of our "pipelines" is to delete the documents the borrowers send in via fax (which comes right to our in bix, email OR delete the emails directly OR delete the inquiries from the member portal system. (thats where you log in to see a secure message). This is all out war and I am sorry it is you, the member that suffers. However, how do we get management's attention?

I admit, there lso is some bitterness on our part as well- picture this: You work for slave wages at a mortgage company, you are treated like dirt, and expected to meet goals. Now, also picture looking at loan applications all day of you phucking winey cry babies retired at 39 years old with a pension for life! WTF? No wonder our country is in trouble- freeloaders like those members that have NEVER seen combat/war theater. I can understand taking care of our Veterans that have seen battle- I get it. Anyways, just know that you are way way way better off walking in to your local community bank and sitting across from a real person rather than dealing with a remote service center (USAA) that could care less!

You are right Veterans need to stay clear of USAA. USAA tries to tell everyone that they are a Federal Savings Bank that caters to military, former military and those who support the military. Up until recently I fully believed that this was the case. I have had USAA since I was about 16 years old, through my fathers service to our great country I was “fortunate” enough to be able to get USAA membership. Then once I joined the military I continued to use USAA. I am now out of the military, and contracting for the U.S. military in Afghanistan. I have been in Afghanistan now for 14months. I applied for a home loan through USAA and was approved immediately. I followed all of USAA’s mortgage services representative’s instructions (Sandra Tessitore). I had 45 days from the day the offer was submitted and all of my paper work was filed out, for Sandra to fill me in on any issues that might arise. Several times I emailed her with questions only to receive no reply for several days, or until I got sick of waiting for an email and called her directly. Seven days before I was supposed to close on my house Sandra notifies me that since I am a contractor, I need a letter from my company stating that they will keep me on contract for three years no matter what, and that my pay will stay the exact same ($145k a year). I asked her why it needed to remain 145K when the loan I am going for was only 220k borrowed…her answer that’s what the underwriter wants. No company can guarantee employment for three years and these conniving criminals know it. So due to USAA, and Sandra Tessitore, I am out $2, 000 dollars earnest money, the fees they charged to go through this entire process (with the extra points I bought around $600), probably around 20 hours of my times on the phone with them, oh yeah and did I forget to mention a house. USAA is not about helping military and former military get fair deals, they are all about making the quick buck and then dumping you in the trash like last weeks leftovers. If USAA would have told me these ridiculous “regulations” up front I could have had the time to go to a lender that can give loans to those who serve our country overseas and not the thieves at USAA. Once I am back in the states, able to go into reputable bank and insurance company, I will be getting rid of my USAA Performance First Savings Account, Normal Savings Account, Checking Account, Life Insurance, Home Insurance, Car Insurance, and Credit Card. USAA will not care about this because they have thousands of members who are unaware of their crooked practices. I just hope that this review will help fellow contracts know to go through another lender and not make the mistake I did by trusting USAA.

USAA - bank operation on gossip not documents

USAA Bank told me their records show my step daughter Kathleen Walker of Sultan Washington, telephoned the bank and told them I was divorced from her dad. My power of attorney was immediately cancelled, and I had no access to any account. My home and car insurance, and credit cards were cancelled. Our stocks sold. There was never any divorce. They told me to prove there was no divorce. I told them to prove there was. No reply. As a result of them working on gossip, about $400, 000 was stolen.

I am posting everywhere I can to warn people about USAA and their horrible treatment of customers (members) - USAA Mortgage is run by mexican immigrants, I am totally convinced of that! Our VA Mortgage Processor, could not communicate well at all (and I think she cursed out my husband in Spanish) therefore, I will tell everyone I know AND the VA loan center about how Veterans and their families are treated.

I applied alnong with my husband for a VA Refinance a month ago. My husband is 100% disabked as a result if service in Afghanistan- a grenade exploded under him during a "sweep". He is a grunt, an infantryman and would die for his country- and he almost did! Anyway, our VA Processor kept telling us he has to pay the 3.3% funding fee. Then, she changed her mind and said no he did not. She refused to accept any paperwork from the VA with his rating. This incompetant [censored] mexican lady put us through hell and back! It finally came to the point that our lock expired not once but twice on us. Had we gone through with the USAA refinance, we would have had another half a percent tacked on to our rate.

I am thinking that this malicious treatment has to be criminal or fraud. I find it hard to believe that a fortune 500 organization would be so "politically correct" in its hiring to reflect the large mexican american population in TX without regard to skill or merit. I understand that they have a consumer reporter on KENS 5 in SA. I have contacted him and they will be airing an expose on USAA Mortgage Services in early Feb 2011.

I want to vomit when I think of the bad people there.

USAA - possible fraud?

I had established a new bank account to use for my online buisness. So after some searching i decided to go with USAA bank's free checking account wich only required at the time of writting this a minimum $25 opening deposit so i set it up to take $35 from my other bank account to my new usaa account. A day later i got an email from USAA saying my account...

When you spend more than what you have in the account or do an over-draft the bank will charge you NSF fee for going in the red. I've done this too many times, but its totally in the terms of service. Most banks have fees like this when you spend more money than is in the account.

If it can be proven that the charges were truly unauthorized, the bank refunds these fees. What kind of charges were they? Did you dispute them?

USAA - cam and cheating!

I had insurance, and currently have Banking, a auto loan and Credit Card through USAA. In the past I was not the best at paying my Insurance on the exact date that was posted. But I did always pay them in full for what they wanted. Never had a problem until earlier this year when they decided that because I was not paying them in full. (Witch I know was my fault.) That I can no longer have access to my Bank, Credit card and Auto Loan online. In fact now all I can do is call them and wait for 30-40 min jsut to get a account balance. Since then I have taken my banking els wear. But what the hell, ok I understand the insurance and such. But I have always paid everything... especially the insurance before then policy period ended. My COMPLAINT here is why am I being treated like a second rate customer.

I have been writing editorials about Kansas based Seaboard Farms and how they have been polluting the Smoky Hills and Arkansas Rivers...for twenty years now. Seaboard, I have repeatedly documented, has been trafficking COCAINE and other hard drugs through Juarez and Lorado up to their distribution center in Guymon Oklahoma for over twenty years now...Hillary Clinton has for 20 years been Running Interference for Seaboard's Steven Bresky for 20 years niw. This [censor] has run me through a number of Federal and State Courts and collection agencies during this time period...Clinton and Bresky and their thug lawyers have robbed me of my IMMACULATE KANSAS MEDICAL LICENSE, bankrupted me and my ex-wife, stalked me and members of my family and selectively prosecuted each of us...they run credit checks and then if a few dollars behind, these thugs weasle their way into what ever company/agency and bribe someone in that organization to selectively prosecute. I contend that they may have had a hand in cancelling my USAA auto/home insurance...will send a CD outlining this to USAA and theVa Insurance commissioner...

Most of you won't believe this but my husband has been with USAA since 1960! And it was in 1959 that I was listed on my father's (WWII vet) auto insurance, My late husband and I joined USAA under my father's service when we married, then he rec'd his commission 10 Dec 1962 and we transferred over to our own account. We had insurance and banking - no credit cards since they were not an option then - and we added renters insurance after we were able to buy a little furniture, but then 2nd Lt's were paid $220/mo! and we had a baby! To make along story short - no problems and when he was killed in 1965, they immediately sent me all of my funds, paid the insurance accounts, and I believe I continued to carry USAA as an officer's widow (I was all of 22 years of age). Then I remarried back into the Army - I loved the life and had been a Navy junior checking in with 13 schools from 1 grade to 12th. Like I said in the first sentence, my new husband (now of almost 50 years) already had USAA, so when we bought our first home, we added homeowners, and are in our 3rd home now (and hopefully 4th soon). We bought a rider when I inherited some expensive jewelry and added the pearls he brought back from Korea, then adding more inherited pieces later. Now my jewelry has been stolen! It is not the cost that bothers me but the fact the pieces belonged to my maternal, paternal grandmothers, my mother and my husband's grandmother - I cannot get that back! I had a hard time reconciling to the loss, had a very serious surgery with a long recuperation before I began looking for the jewelry I wore every day (I never thought to look for the other) since I had put it in a small bag in my drawer before surgery thinking it would be overnight - it was 5 nights and home healthcare for 4 mos. In the meantime we put the house on the market had were requested to leave when it was being shown, and several times returned to find the side door unlocked, and once, even open.
I still hoped I would find my jewelry, so my husband brought down ever storage container from the attic and I spent months going through them, piece by piece, hoping I was mistaken where I had left it. However, one day i decided to put on some other jewelry, opened my drawer and it was GONE - nothing but empty boxes. This had to take some time and could have happened only when we were gone! I finally called USAA and reported the loss. They have tried to under estimate, even the appraised jewelry on the rider! every item, and we have replacement insurance on the rider! Now they are offering me a $2000 diamond from Tiffany's in place of a $4000 (appraisal they accepted) diamond that belonged to my grandmother and that I wore all the time! If that is replacement value, my dictionary does not agree with the one they use at USAA! Somehow, and we don't know how, they got my husband's cell phone # and we don't even use it when we are home and we asked to be called on our home phone! They called 3 times on his cell phone yesterday! What is their problem? I wrote and told them that I would NOT accept their $2000 Tiffany's diamond for the one I lost - period! And now we are in round three!
How many years is that? I believe it is 55 years my husband has been a member, and add my 5 1/2 years, that's 60 years paying premiums on checking (we moved that a long time ago) auto (we also switched to GEICO about 20 years ago), and homeowners! Looks like this is the end of a long friendship right here at the end of our lives we now have to worry about buying more insurance and wondering if we will ever be reimbursed for what we thought was so safe! OK - we should have had a safe, and we do now, but I wore the most valuable jewelry all the time, except when in the hospital. Now it's gone, and I have paid for my stupidity, but USAA is putting the final nail in the coffin! Replacement value is just that! They owe me a diamond with the same weight, and clarity as the missing stone! PERIOD!

USAA is horrible. They care about veterans...my ###! I opened a simple $500 secure credit card which means they had my money. They proceed to not send statements. I would have to get online and figure out when I due date was. When I made payments they wouldn't credit them for 10 days. They finally closed the account which was current and couldn't wait to report me to the credit bureau. Even though they themselves show I oe them nothing they still reported is closed by them which is damaging. It's almost like they couldn't wait to report me to the credit bureau. I will never do business with them again. And again, they don't give a crap about veterans!

Created an account with USAA while I'm in Delayed Entry Program (DEP). The worst decision I've made in my life. My account was created on July 30, 2015. By August 15, 2015, my online account was locked. I called the support number to unlock my account. I was told by a representative that my account would automatically be unlocked after 3 days. However, that never happened. Called back a few weeks later and was told my entire account was locked and USAA was exercising their rights not to do business with me anymore. I tried to ask why, or even when did this happened. No one wanted to give me answer. Neither did I receive a notification saying that they were closing my account. After several more phone calls, I finally was able to talk to a respectable representative and was told that they would go back and review my account to see why it was closed. Even though they did go back and review my account, they did not contact after the review was done. I had to go through more phone calls just to go any results. I was to that my account was closed due to "fraud". Yet, I never made a deposit/withdrawal, I've never been convicted of a crime, I didn't even get a chance to activate my debit card because my account had been locked before it came in the mail. So how did "fraud" end up on my account. In October of 2015, a representative had a theory. The representative suggested that USAA requested for documents through email and because I never submitted or signed those documents, they closed the account. However, I never received such email. If there was a problem of miscommunication, you would think that USAA would want to find ways to resolve the problem or at least take "fraud" away from my name. But no, not with USAA. Their favorite line is, "We're exercising our right not to do business with you." Tip for Today: Just go with Navy Federal. Saves a lot of headaches.

Guess I have company. 29 year member with 7 fig brokerage, homeowners, 3 auto policies, checking, SEP, trusts, credit cards, life, health, basically everything. Never past due on anything. Two days ago they said my online access was terminated for "past disturbances".. Two and a half hours on different holds and no one knew why. The next day my credit cards were closed and still ZERO explanation why. I thought they were great. But there is something seriously, seriously wrong there. I see the positive comments and would of agreed until this week. Members beware, they can make your life a living hell without even the courtesy of an explanation.

These comments are so true. They are scam artists and need to be shut down, maybe even deport them from the USA, they are not there to support our troops or US citizens. I would never recommend them to ANYONE. The CEO is useless as well as his executive assistant, with whom I had to displeasure of speaking to since he was out on a golf course or one of those upper management fiascos that the bigwigs go out on, and after being a customer for 20 years the worthless Martina Morales the executive assistant for Joe Robles, she conveniently cannot even find that I ever had accounts with them, gee way to treat a customer. Shut them down. They are horrible.
