When I opened the account 2 weeks ago, I was assured that when my check was deposited, the funds would be available right away. Yesterday, I deposited my check and was told $200 was available immediately and the next day, the balance would be available. We went to the grocery store today where the store is located inside a Schnucks and my ATM transaction...

US Bank unconcerned and unethical

I applied for and received a "1-2-3-Rewards Mastercard". The interest rate was to be 13.99, 18.99 or 23.99%, based on "CREDITWORTHINESS". I have a credit score of 820, and I have never paid a bill late or written a bad check. My home is paid for and I have worked for the same co. for 23 years. I also keep a large amt. of cash in a checking acct. at US bank, for which I receive no interest. I have had this same checking acct at this bank for over 30 years and put up with it going through mergers and name changes. When I questioned why I did not receive the lowest interest rate, I was put on hold, transferred 3 times and basically told that I got the rate I deserved. No one could tell me what the criteria was or put me through to their underwriting dept. THAT is all a secret, apparently. Is this false advertising? YES. Is this a lack of appreciation for their customers? YES. I am moving my cash elsewhere. Does US Bank believe in ethical behavior? NO.

US Bank incompetent management

In my opinion, it would be a sin if I didn't post information relating to a recent employment experience my wife had with US Bank. Specifically their Student Lending Group, specifically the mindless management team responsible for unethical employee relations. While there are many reasons to post help here for others, I will focus primarily on 2 key points. First, a lot of people don't realize how damaging workplace bullying can be to an employee. Damage so deep that physical health, mental health and effects on family members of bullied employee has devastating outcomes. This is becoming "ok" in today's workplace, and in most cases you can do absolutely nothing about it. Either go to HR and commit career suicide, or simply quit. Neither option is fun when you are a dedicated, extremely talented employee needing assistance to deal with workplace bullying. My wife, a very successful professional fell victim to such acts. Her manager at US Bank is an incompetent fool. I will refer to him as "idget". I'll get to that later. Idget was intimidated by my wife, and made it a full time effort to make her life miserable. Deprived her of resources, very critical of her work, micro managed everything she did. Think of the worst manager you have worked for, add to that the sensation of 10 simultaneous root canals you will get = idget. I know that no employee is perfect etc, etc. However this is so bad it needs to be aired in an effort to help those great employees still working for idget. The effects of idget caused a tremendous amount of stress resulting in hair loss, extreme anxiety. What? Someone can have that effect on you? YES. My wife was always energetic and very driven. I sadly watched this crumble right before my own eyes. She was miserable. Now to my second point. Idget is named for a reason. Exactly what he is. I have never experienced someone who is paid at such a high level be unbelievably stupid. Not just "I made a bad decision" stupid, more like "I can't tie my shoes please help me" stupid. Idget puts the meaning in the phrase"you don't have a clue". Idget is not capable of doing anything productive in any area. All of idgets employees are at a senior manager level, yet idget cannot communicate anything in his job without someone doing it for him. I really don't know how to describe this, because it's borderline mental ###ation. You really have to experience this to understand the true meaning of this. I make some bad calls, we all do. Idget communicates, at best, with a 3 year old equivalent skill set. All employees are aware, even vendors. That tells me his boss, and others within the organization are aware too. Idget has a godfather who takes cares of him though. His boss. Maybe a few elementary grades above him though. A joke as well. To all employees or professionals seeking an opportunity within this group please don't do it. It isn't worth the money at all, and the experience can cause serious problems in your life. It's a shame a company with such talent isn't more employee focused in this group. Just stay away is my advice. US Bank is great employer, and I am confident the rest of the organization has stellar employee engagement scores. I'm also confident within time idget will be without a job. But the interesting thing is, he doesn't even know he has one and that should describe how pitiful this individual is. He is married with children, and my heart goes out to these brave people as well.

US Bank deceptive solicitation calls

Alright every bank seems to do this, but I got this unsolicited call from a telemarketer calling on behalf of US Bank and he's telling me that he just wants to send me some insurance plan information. That's it. He goes through this long speech. He kept "smoothing over" this notion that there's essentially no obligation, but the part that I caught (that most people would miss) is when he slipped in a line about "if it's something you're not interested just call us to let us know". I specifically asked him if there was no obligation. He said "no". Well stop the presses @ss h0le! If I have to call to cancel then I'm OBLIGATED to call to cancel! There IS AN OBLIGATION you liars! I hate this deception and I'm sure the banks approve of this deception. No wonder everyone is angry with banks these days.

US Bank wrongful charges

Lease turn. at the end of your lease you will most likely be contacted for a voluntary pre turn in inspection. * do not agree* these people are contracted by the banks to find or make up problems with your vehical. the more they make up. your going to pay. here is what happens : they will come to your work "so it's more convienant for you". the reality is you don't have time pay attention to what they are writting down and before you know it you have a sheet in front of you with charges that you ultimately will pay or end up with a mark on your credit rating.
Here is my story
they put down paint chip (smaller than 1/8 inch) 31.50each.
they charged me for a new wheel. picture attached. look at the 12 o'clock spot very very small scratches. * $ 1034.24* check payable to us bank
These people or they as I refered to are adesa co. they are contracted by the banks to find problems so the bank can profit from normal wear and tear to your vehical.
If your an attorney looking for a class action suit. call me up i'm in.

US Bank steal

I am disable and I had $ 578 in the bank.

US bank change their policy to every week add $ 500 and/or to have minimum $ 1500 monthly.

Not only that, but they me charged twice. First for not having above $ 1500 a month for $ 8.95, then for not having a account with them any more for additional fee of $5 for cashing/closing the account. In the sum of 13.95 I lost in the bank in a month.

They are the thieves. Synonymous US bank/ thieves.

OR with a $1, 500 minimum daily balance

Funny you dont know or something else.

"OR with a $1, 500 minimum daily balance"

Seriously? You better have that tomorrow.

Dont worry they will "notify" you.

If the mail doesnt come, is your fault.

I see some people dont get off the house.

The closest Chase bank is 20 min away. But sure does look better.

USB is just 10 mins away and closer to all the shops.

Chase is in more remote area. Where business are.

A mail not email. I read all the junk emails just in case.

But even when I called, I said I never got the mail. They didnt said email. They said it got lost then.

Then they told me to close the account. And that was my complain. They told me to do on the phone, again.

How bout the fact when I was in bank a month ago and no one said anything, bout new policy. They could make a sign that says "new policies in effect".

But I guess if I do not want to spent $5 for a check I cash. Better then.

As I see it. I called. I went to the bank. What more should I do?

You still refuse to read. I guess your age must be the probably cause.

Anything more exciting, you have to say?

This is complete and utter ###in bill site. I have a family to feed and provide for! How am I to explain to my pregnant wife, that I will not be able to feed her that night?!? My family and I deserve to see the FULL damned check in my account! Or there will be a class action lawsuit on your hands. And if we find out that my wife isn't getting any proper nourishment because of you, I will be a pain that will not go away!

I came across this discussion while searching US Bank's poor conduct toward the disabled. I am disabled with an MS like condition. On of the problems I have is using phone systems and making online payments, I need help or I screw it up every time. My wife and I have several accounts with different financial institutions. All have been very accommodating and don't charge extra for doing so. Those that do have a service charge for such help have waived it except US Bank. The facts are as follows, we a line of credit secured by our home. We obtained the line of credit through a mortgage broker so we didn't have a say in regards to who the lender was. I can't work anymore so I do what I can to remain productive. When I went to make a phone payment US Bank charged me $10.00 because I needed help from a live person to complete the transaction. I asked for reasonable accommodation in the form of a waiver on the fee and they refused. I had the higher ups review the decision and they refused to alter the earlier decision. Now I am exploring other remedies.

As I see it US Bank's actions are the same as charging for using the wheel chair ramp. My disability bars me from using the free online or automated payment system so I have no choice. As stated above none of our other accounts have taken this position and they have all been very helpful to me. Thus I believe US Bank's conduct deviates from the from the standard practices of their competitors.

Now for a bit of education on disabilities. Having a disability is a very frustrating life and there is no escape from it. 24/7 you can't do what you once did or what others take for granted. Sometimes disabled people come off as whining but that is a superficial understanding of the situation. We just want to participate in life as much as we can. For me every little courtesy is greatly appreciated.

For the original poster I would recommend talking to some credit unions and smaller banks. Tell them about your situation and I am sure you will find a good fit away from US Bank.

My wife and I have been fortunate and we are not living in a hand to mouth situation, we have choices. Not everyone does. Once I exhaust what remedies may be out there in regards to US Bank I will look to refinance with another institution. Our line of credit was used as a second on our home purchase last March It was originally 250K and now it is under 200K. We have excellent credit and income. We are gold plated customers for a financial institution and we will never do business with US Bank again. Their loss. Furthermore I will not accept a check drawn on US Bank again.

I wasn't suggesting you change to Chase Bank. I was just saying what my experience is. I've been thru many bank name changes over the years. I've also had direct deposit and have never had fees. I think that is the case with any bank. And if I'm not mistaken, I think fees and policies are generally included as a flyer with the bank statements. Usually those nuisance pieces of paper we throw away and never look at.

I have direct deposit at Chase and I pay no monthly fees. Never have. And I'm sure if there were policy changes, they either included it with your bank statement or mailed it separately. You probably got it, thought it was junk mail, and threw it away.

US Bank overdraft protection

Do not use us bank! They are experts at taking your money for no reason! A few months back, after an overdraft fiasco, the bank “officer” I spoke with asked me if I wanted to sign up for overdraft protection by connecting my savings account to my debit card. I said “sure!” (Having just lost $150 in overdraft fees it sounded like a good idea). Here’s the catch … for every item that comes through your account the day the “overdraft protection” kicks in they charge you $5.00! To use your own money! I was never told there was any charge whatsoever. Where is our protection from such scams, I ask?

Yes USBank is a ripoff machine. Ellen67 does not know what she is talking about. They tell you one thing then raise your fees immediately after without stating an introductory period. And if someone else is the cause of the overdraft, do not expect help from them. An online retailer processed an large order multiple times and after speaking with a US Bank representative, they stated that it is your problem and they will not help customers at all. Their job is only to collect as many fees as possible. My advice, stay as far away from USBank as you can and find a local smaller bank branch that works with its customers to keep fees low and protect them from merchant mistakes.

US Bank home morgage

I have been trying to refinance due to a divorce and high interest rates, my home value dropped 20 thousand so I am upside down. My interest rates are above 7% and the other 2nd is 9%. If I was able to refinance my ex would be able to get a loan to pay off the 2nd which in the devoice decree is considered the property settlement and his reasonability. I am not asking for any other money just to lower my rate. I plan to live in the home for at least 12 more years. My divorce decree states I have to stay in Washington school district till my youngest is out of school he started kindergarten today. I have been in the home for 13 years. They have given me so many contradicting reason why they have not been able to refinance or loan re modification.

I found a unauthorized charge on my child support card. I called the relia card number and they said it was a ATM with draw in California as I live in Oregon and worked the day my money was taken out at a ATM in California and I still had my card I started the process of disputed the charge. The dispute center sent me the forms I filled them out filed a police report and faxed all back to relia card. 3 days after I sent it I called them to ask where my money was they said they had five days to return it after they got my information. Finally I received the obey back. A month latter I receive papers saying there taken money back due to no response or papers from me. I called them to ask what's going on and no one can help due to not in my time zone and there 4 hours ahead of me. This I called us bank and the relia cards are not even a us bank product. US Bank stop payment

I issued a stop payment on an automatic debit that was originally set up to help a family member who did not have a checking account. Two months ago I called US Bank to have these transactions stopped and after going back and forth between US Bank (they told me I would have to have the institution (Wells Fargo) that was withdrawing the money stop it) and Wells Fargo (they told me US Bank would have to issue the stop payment) and several phone calls to both banks, US Bank FINALLY told me they would issue a stop payment for six months. Well, lo and behold I find that the funds were taken from my account again yesterday. I called US Bank and was told there was nothing they could or would do about it because WF was using a different check number for each transaction. So I asked them why they didn't advise me at the time that I would need to issue a stop payment every month or at the very least close the account and open another if that was the case. Two months ago I was told that the stop payment would be good for six months! So far WF has been using consecutive check numbers but what if they just used any random check number... How would I know which check to stop payment on!?! What kind of SCAM is this? I'm going to immediately withdraw all my funds from US Bank and go somewhere else ... But not Wells Fargo. I'm also going to talk to an attorney. in the meantime I'm out the money because US Bank will not put the money back into my account even though their rep misinformed me.

They did exactly the same to me. Wouldn't do anything about it, just kept saying "You were advised at the time of the stop payment." Me: "Um, no I wasn't." Them: "Oh, we apologize. Let me explain it to you now." As though explaining it after the fact were suddenly going to fix everything. These people are total frauds and incompetents who never deal honestly with anyone.

US Bank robbed my sister and wife

Last week my sister, a single mother, dicovered that she was in huge overdraught trouble, even though funds had been available. yesterday US bank took 75% of my wifes paycheck for overdraft charges, In her case, funds should also have been available but were not, due to fraudulent accounting practices that are becoming the trade mark of US banks 5 star service (theft and conspiracy with a smile). I hope ex-employee wont waste his/her time telling me that everything is in order, 225 complaints on this sight alone regarding US bank, obviously indicate that very treacherous practices are afoot at US bank, probably due to it's impending collapse, and the 25% drop in it's stock value on the stockmarket in the last 6 weeks. I guess the fat cats are going to grab as much cash as they can before the inevitable collapse of this evil outfit.

US Bank pathetic customer service

I'm accustomed to US Bank not being the friendliest or most helpful. Yes, its annoying, but I deal with it... however today was over the top. I called to check my balance today and was surprised that there was more money in my account since yesterdsay. I requested to speak to a "customer service" rep and had the joy of speaking with someone named Erica. Right away I could tell she had a chip on her shoulder. She rushed through some half a**ed explination and when I tried to clarify what she said she began talking to me like I needed a helmet and padded room. She was incrediably condescending and rude. I eventually asked for her supervisor so she could see how to do her job with some class (I admit, I was upset!) And she kept arguing with me, saying that she can do her job and I just laughed and kept asking for her supervisore. This is when this idiot hung up on me. I did call back and left a message w/ her supervisor so we'll see if he's as "helpful" as his employee. God, I hate US Bank- I wish it was easier to switvh banks!

US Bank us bank run through charges

US Bank has continually run through charges largest to smallest regardless of what order they are presented in to the bank, so they can maximize the amount of overdraft charges. My account wouldn't be over draw physically. My available balance would be short because of "pings "for things that were returned or never purchased. Regardless I am getting charged for overdraft charges on things that could potentially run on my account. I feel like am held up by my own bank every month. When I tried talking to them about it I was told they were doing me a favor by paying my larger bills first. They admit that they do it, and I have the statements to prove it!

US Bank lucrative scam and rip-off schemes

I believe there are millions of Americans that fall victim to the deceptive practices of US Bank every year as a result of their lucrative scam and rip-off schemes. And the biggest one which brings in more money than any other deceptive 'activity' is the overdraft scam. These imposters know how to rip you off your hard earned money and make you pay for the trust you put in them which is the biggest mistakes the American consumer makes. Like no other bank this bank knows when to attack you, steal your money and to make up an idiotic excuse, to make the client not the bank look like an idiot. The worst customer service or support anyone would find at any bank is at Us Bank. And just as someone already mentioned it on this site: the US Bank does not care about you, your personality or your business, all they care about is you money. To them no relations, friendship or loyalty is important. Only money. I learned it the hard way. I've had accounts with various banks here in America and across the ocean in Europe. Some were excellent, others fair. But one bank particularly stood out. One that never provided assistance when needed, never honored any written or spoken word, never treated me like a customer but rather like a bill printing machine, caused many disputes and stole money from my account in many deceptive ways. That ladies and gentlemen was US BANK. I never benefited from one single service they offered. Unlike Washington Mutual which had free checks, free money orders, free wire transfers and a good NSF waiver program the hideous US BAnk could never offer one good thing. The only reason why I had an account with these monsters is it was close to the place I lived. Recently I learned of the rip-off scheme, where I was the victim myself. I hope those who read this report will reconsider doing any business with these charlatans in the future and putting the trust in the wrong hands. That's how it works... They set up a trap in which they suspend all your debit card transactions deliberately for several days waiting for a bigger fish, that is a purchase or payment which if added to all recent transaction items either deposit or withdrawal will overdraw your account. Then they quickly post multiple overdraft charges for each transaction made the previous days which in turn will generate more overdraft because they will be considered withdrawals. So, you wake up one morning and check your account balance and find out it's been overdrawn and all transactions made over a period of 3-5 days posted in one single days. Thus you've been had. Easy and painless. Now you contact them in furious to complain about this unexpected act of misdemeanor and that's when the real pain comes; you are welcomed with a smack in the face. Whatever you say doesn't make sense, no proof or evidence intimidates them, you feel in the trap and you are a meal. Calling the corporate headquarter doesn't solve the issue either, they are one big team of crooks in pursuit of the same goal- to rip you off. The moral here: find yourself a better bank to do business with.If you have an account with them close it immediately. Otherwise sooner or later you'll become a statistic too. Any bank, anything will be better then these impostors. You are only strong when you are informed.I am trying to help people understand the reality of the banking world. As for me I am still fighting my rights in this act of injustice. First off went the complaint to the BBB, then the WA State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission, The Comptroller of the Currency and later a legal lawsuit as my last hit to teach them a lesson. If I can find other consumers who've been treated likewise I will file a class-action lawsuit against USbank. They think they have the world at their disposal. Wrong! You bit me and now I'll extract your teeth one by one until you go broke.

I did a balance transfer to my us bank for $8000.00 on July 25th 2013 they said they never received it. Three weeks later a miracle happened and it showed up, they said oh it must have been lost in the mail. I said oh really why did the other transfer I did get their in 4 days and took three weeks for you to get it. I told them this was real convenient for them to collect another 3 weeks interest on my account. By this time I had the transfer bank put a stop payment on the check because we thought the check was lost in the mail. It was never lost they did this on purpose. They say I have no proof of this. So on August 13 the discover company sent another check, they received that check on 23rd only for them to tell me they had to put a hold on it until it cleared. Today August 28th 2013 I am informed they told my discover card where the check was sent from, my account was an invalid number and didn't exist. So now they put another stop payment on that check. US Bank has cost me a ton of money not to mention the emotional stress and tears for all the crap they have put me through. I talked to US Bank and they said since this was tied to my checking account for overdraft protection thy wouldn't deposit the check sent to them. I said why would it matter where a deposit came from? I was told some cockka mammie story that made no since at all to the affect they wouldn't except checks into a checking account for a balance transfer. Have you ever heard of anything like this before? I told them this is wrong and all they wanted to do is collect more high interest from me. I cannot believe they can get away with this. I would like to file a class action law suit. Based on what has just occurred I believe this would make a good case against them of not wanting to give me the ability to pay off the high interest I'm being charged by them.

Yes I thought that too. US Bank is a rip off and instead of helping you manage your account they rather rip you off. The debit card and online is a joke is setup for them to make money not to help you. I would check online every transaction I had to be sure I had the money to cover my purchase however the online site is not accurate. Plus my saving was connected to cover when I go over but if it's on the weekend I still get over draft charge. It's frustrating and I have a gold account now but due to them not approving me for a charge card they are dropping my account to silver. It's unfair because I signed up for a gold for free now they are telling me if I want to keep I will have to pay. I'm tired of US Bank they are nothing but major rip off. I will be going with a different bank real soon seem like it would be to dig a hole in the mattress to save if I'm going to have someone f*** me around on my money I rather do it myself.

Deceptive practice, then becomes an act of gross negligence as collection agencies support the criminal activities of banks with this type of oversimplified logic. What consumers need is some type of document sharing program that will trump these liars in court. usbancorp by there own addmission alters documents on a routine basis. Sharing court records etc may be the key to class action. Good Luck

US Bank liars

I was closing on my house and after I closed an auto draft came out so I tried to get a new payoff letter from cooperate and i was on the phone from 8:30 am to 5:15 pm and was told by 2 different people one that was a supervisor that they would send it and it never came so the next day I started again from the local branch and they told her they would fax it over in 5 to 10 minutes and they never recieved it. To me U S Bank are a bunch of thieves and liars and will never do business with them again. I was transfered to departments that have nothing to do with loans, lied to 5 times, and still dont have my $978.76 and it will take 14 days to get back when it was their fault for not sending the letter to the title company or I would have my money. Very hard people to get anything out of but rudeness. This is a direct line to Jermia Garcia so please everyone that has ever had a problem with them call and tell him about it. [protected]

US Bank misinformation for overdraft fees

I was contacted by dmk & associates, a collections agency, on december 18, 2008 regarding an outstanding balance on my us bank account. This was the first i'd heard of this matter. During their initial call, I requested a validation statement from dmk and they said they would send it to me, which they did not. I called us bank later that same day and was informed that I owed $329.00 and that my statements had been mailed to my previous address. I told them I had moved in early 2007 and corrected the address on the phone (Since they evidently missed the change of address request I had mailed them) and I asked what the charges were for. I was told I would need to go in person to any us bank branch bank to obtain copies of the statements. My account is a "checking as savings" account, which I used rarely and kept a $5.00 balance. I never had any checks or a debit card associated with the account, which means the only way I can obtain funds from it is to go into the bank or provide someone with my account and bank information. Since I did not remember using the account at all in 2007, I suspected the charges may be fraudulent - especially since my statements were being sent to the wrong address. I visited the branch nearest my home on december 20, 2008, and spoke with the bank manager. He told me he suspected the charges were all overdraft fees, but could not find any information in the computer because "the account was closed and charged off." he said he thought the bank had made an error and could resolve it easily and he instructed me to go to the branch where the account was originally opened and request the statements to substantiate the original charges. He referred me to the bank manager at my original branch. He said he would notify that manager in advance and she should be in touch. He also recommended that I advise dmk & associates that the matter was being handled by the bank. I did not hear from the other bank manager. Following the holidays, I called her and she said she knew about the matter, but couldn't help me. I told her I just needed to know what the original charge was for. She promised to call me back. She never called back, so the next weekend (January 3), I went into the branch in person and asked for the statements. The bank manager advised that it was too late for me to dispute the charges because the bank policy limits customer disputes to 30 days after the original charges appear on an account statement (Obviously, it was impossible for me to make this deadline since the statements did not go to my current address). She also stated that she could not obtain the statements I requested and speculated they were "probably overdraft fees." she offered to contact the recoveries department and call me back. When she called me a few days later, she left a message advising that the recoveries department could not provide the information I requested. On january 17, 2009, I copied the attorney general's office on correspondence between myself, u. S. Bank, and the original collections agency, dmk & associates. I stated that I was disputing the bank charges until I received documentation showing what they represent (What the original amount was, how it was posted - check, debit, online, etc., and who it was made to) as I cannot determine what they are and whether they are legitimately incurred by me. On january 30, I received a letter from us bank recoveries with statements dated april 20 through august 20, 2007 attached. These statements showed my balance was $5.00 until a single posting was made to my account of $358.83 on july 16, 2007, which overdrafted my account. This is not a charge I recognize and it makes no sense that it was posted to my account. (Why would I try to withdraw or make a purchase of that amount knowing that I only had a $5.00 balance? Further, what teller would allow me to do this since I would have had to go into the bank to take out the money?) subsequent bank statements show additional overdraft fees accruing as a result of this posting. On february 9, 2009, I received a letter from the attorney general's office stating that they would assist me in contacting the company and requesting an explanation of the charges and to keep them abreast of any further information. On march 3, 2009, I called us bank's recoveries department (Again) to inquire about the source of the $358.83 charge made against my account. The representative I spoke with had a lot of difficulty finding any information. Finally, he agreed that I had a $5.00 balance until july 2007 when, he said, a $26.00 overdraft fee was posted to my account as well as an additional charge of $7.00 per day for every day the account was in overdraft. The representative stated that he could not find a record of the original posted amount that caused the overdraft and asked me where I came up with the $358.83 amount. I told him that it was in the statements I received from us bank recoveries. He said the charges appeared to him to be fraudulent as he could see no record of them on my statements. I asked him if there was anyone else at us bank I should contact to try to resolve the matter and he said the recoveries department has done all they can for me. I asked him what the best way to resolve the situation would be and he suggested I contact an attorney. He offered to send the account statements to me and I received them in mid-march. Unfortunately, the statements are not helpful, though, because they are reports of summary balances and do not show how the original charge was made or who it was to. I still cannot determine what exactly I was being charged for in the first place — who charged me and how it was posted to my account. A couple of weeks later I received a letter dated march 19, 2009 from the attorney general's office, enclosing a letter they received from dmk & associates, dated february 12, 2009. The dmk letter stated that they had closed my collections account and returned it to u. S. Bank. I considered the matter closed. On april 9, 2009, I received a call from from weinerman & associates, another collection agency retained by us bank concerning the same account. Their representative claimed to know nothing about my dispute. I had to explain everything and fax information to her. I never heard from her again. On april 15, 2009, I was contacted by morris law group p. A., another collections firm (!) who advised they were retained by portfolio management group (?) regarding the u. S. Bank account matter. I was told that the current amount due is now $495.19. I explained the situation and again agreed to fax my correspondence to this new collector, which I did the same day. Yesterday, april 25, 2009, I received a bill in the mail from rl morris & associates, pllc (Evidently the same agency as morris law group, p. A.) requesting that I pay the us bank charges in full. I sent them the same dispute letter i've been sending to the other agencies and copied us bank and the attorney general's office. I am at my wits end. The situation is becoming worse every day. Us bank refuses to substantiate a charge they posted to my bank account, which may be fraudulent. Instead, they continue to tack on additional fees and turn my account over to numerous collections agents. Meanwhile, I am receiving weekly, sometimes daily, calls from (Now 3) different collections agencies. I have been forced to spend my time and money faxing, meeting with people, making numerous calls, and mailing letters, all in an effort to defend myself. I am concerned about my credit score and feel completely powerless to resolve this matter. I have kept the attorney general's office informed of all the developments in this matter and I am keeping excellent records. I plan to speak to my attorney next week for guidance on how to proceed. It's unfortunate and unfair that I should have to retain a lawyer and incur legal expenses in order to resolve the situation when it could be easily settled if us bank would simply provide the information I have requested.

US Bank deposit error

Bank error in your favor! Collect $200.00! Yeah, right! I don't think so. Exactly one week ago I had made a deposit of $250 into my checking account. I made sure to save the transaction slip and filed it away. The next day, Saturday, I went online to check my ledger's balance against the balace given on my online statement page. I was shocked to find that the amount deposited into my account Friday afternoon was not $250.00 but rather $2.50. As it was Saturday after 1pm I knew I would not be able to speak to anyone. I did make 3 attempts to contact US Bank's customer service department via telephone but was unsuccessful. I only recieved busy signals each time. (Not sure if that was my cell provider's fault or the Bank's)

I decided at that point there was nothing I could do until Tuesday the 31st of May as the 30th was Mermorial day and a Federal holiday that banks close for. So I reported my problem to the bank where I made the deposit. The teller who took my deposit on the previous Friday was there so I spoke with that individual. I made sure to provide a copy of and the orignal copy of the deposit slip and printed versions of my online statement that reflected a deposit of $250.oo but showed on the same page only $2.50 being deposited. The teller in turned spoke with the assitant branch manager who instructed the teller to phone a corporate number. After waiting for 30 minutes for the teller to get back to me, I was informed there was nothing the branch could do for me immediatly. I would have to wait 48hrs for a temperary deposit of my missing $247.50. The teller and assistant manager explained that the investigation would take place over the next two days before I would then recieve my funds again. Mind you that the deposit I made was $250.oo in CASH, not check or any other form of currency but legal tender in the form of U.S. dollar bills.

I was further shocked at the repsonce they gave when I asked for some sort of finacial compensation for the banks error: "There is nothing we can do for you. But please go ahead and pay your bills and if you gather any over draft fees we will be glad to remove them from your account." EXCUSE ME?! WHAT?! My jaw hit the floor at that reply! To make matters worse, it was the assistant manager who told me that. Well, I explained to that individual that I did not find that acceptible and felt a matter of $35 for the initial error plus $7 a day for however number of days it took to resolve this matter was more appropiate. (That is what I was hit with 2 years ago when I was over drawn by less than $20.00 thru my own admitted error with the same bank.) The assistant manager told me that was not possible and did not offer any other compensation save to go ahead and over draw my account.

Well, 48 hrs came and went. No money in my account. I woke this morning to find the error corrected but it was dated for yesterday. I know it was not a late night deposit as I also checked my online statement at 12:07 am this morning, 3 June 2011. I again went to the same US Bank branch and asked to speak to the branch manager. I explained my situation to the branch manager and made sure to include in my statement that all persons I spoke with were polite and curtious as they were but that I did not find this situation in the least bit acceptible. The branch manager proceded to offer me $25 as an apology and admitted that the staff made and error in not reporting this to the branch manager. I did my best to graciously decline the offer and explained that my time, trouble and the inconvenience this has caused me was not acceptible. I relayed my justification for recieving $35 for the initial mistake and $7 a day for each day afterwards. The branch manager declined at first to consider my proposal. After I relayed the fact that the bank's own policy was exactly that when I was overdrawn by an ammount less than $20 that I felt my request more than fair as the bank's error was well over $200.

The branch manager called me today after speaking with superiors. Still the best that is offered is $25 for a bank error that took seven days to resolve and was admited by the branch manager that it could have been solved the moment I stepped back into the bank. I should ask for more compensation but will be happy to recieve just the $77 I asked for at the start of today, Friday the 3rd of June. I suppose the best I will get will be the $25. Sadly I cannot say that I will be with this Bank much longer if my request is not granted.

I would hate to have to leave the bank as I find the persons working there to be so nice! But policies such as theirs thus far are not acceptible. Why should I be held liable for mistakes with one policy but the bank holds themselves to much more lenient rules in their favor. To then suggest that I should go ahead and over draw my account is just intolerable. If I was asking for a full $247.50 credit to my account in addition to what was missing I could see a flat out NO from US Bank. Sadly though, my very small request of an amount that is less than peanuts to a business like US Bank corp. seems to be too much to ask for. Truthfully, maybe my money is better off under my mattress or shoved in a small fireproof safe in my home behind a picture on the wall. I should note that if this situation was resolved immediately on Tuesday the 30th of May, that I would proabably have been more receptive to the idea of only recieving $25 in compensation. Too bad the entire situation was drug out for 7 days.

Update by Indiana2011
Jun 08, 2011 4:57 pm EDT

I am sad to report to this community that even the simple offer of a $25 credit has been neglected on behalf of US Bank. I did visit the branch on June 4, this past saturday. The purpose of my visit was to accept the $25 credit to my account after being told via a voicemail that the bank is unable to grant my request of a $77 credit. The person I spoke with, who I originally thought to be the branch assistant manager, informed me that they were indeed just a normal banker. The person did take my information and verified my account number and the situtation and told me that the $25credit would be added to my account the following Monday, June 6. The banker did tell me that the credit may not show until the 7th. Today is Wednesday the 8th and there is no sign of a credit.

I grow tired of this issue. At this point I feel there is nothing that I can do to gain any compensation for the bank's error. At this point I shall wait until my last written check clears and withdraw my remaining funds from the bank. I know that there are members of the US Bank Corp whom read the complaints from this sight as I have verification from a popular consumer research radio show in Atlanta, Ga, : The Clark Howard Show.

To the members of the US Bank Corp whom read this: I intend to withdraw my funds from your bank as soon as my outstanding checks have cleared. I will leave the bank and not recommend your services to any person whom asks. I will not bash your company. I will not praise your company. I leave this message in hopes that US Bank Corp will correct this error. Should the error be corrected and my requested compensation be granted and taking into account all the days from the start of the error through the final correction ($35 plus $7/day -today being June8, 2011 with the situation still not resolved by means of my fair and justified compensation) I will indeed make a post on this same sight stating that US Bank has made the error right and completely satisfied my requests as a consumer. Untill, the error is corrected I will make no such statement for the public to see.

US Bank u.s. bank in holladay sucks!

I have been a member of America First Credit Union for a long time and have always loved them! I used the U.S. Bank ATM because it was with in walking distance of where I needed the cash. I walked out the door and realized I didn't grab my card and when I walked back in the card had all ready been sucked back into the ATM. I called the U.S. Bank customer service and told them what had happened and they told me if I brought my I.D. in when the bank re-opened in the morning I could get my card back. I came back when the bank re-opened and they said they would destroy my card because it was not a U.S. bank card. They said they had it but they would not give it back to me! I was there for an hour with my screaming baby and they would not budge. I went to America First Credit Union to order the the card again and they said that when non- America First members get their cards stuck in their ATM machine they call a number to verify the card is not fraudulent and then the card can be picked up with I.D...

U.S. Bank is sooooo dumb. I was there with my I.D... I could prove who I was and my card was only foot steps away and the jerks would not give it back! I will never bank there and I will tell all of my friends and post this story all over the internet for people to stay away from this stupid bank!
