Tuff Shed DOOR WARPED to the shed,, little help in repairing problem

TO WHOM WILL RESPOND!
I love the shed but the district manager from cleveland base area that has an outlet on RT 910, Gibsonia is not understanding!
THE DOOR IS WARPED AT THE BOTTOM creating an opening for critters and snakes or chipmunks and mice!, 2 to build it on August 13, 2021, , 1 guy came o do caulking and finish painting certain areas, , another 2 guys came out after complaint of door, , after arguing over a new door that fit mind you a new product!, , one last guy named Paul came out to look at door and place new DOOR, on and it did not fit, , HE called me at work said MAYBE i was expecting to much, , I can not prove that but I KNOW HE SAID IT!, He said he would figure a way to fix it, , I appreciate his effort, but it looks like a BAND AID, a foam around the door opening to fix issue, , , I do NOT know many NEW SHEDS with doors where it does not fit properly and FIX with FOAM around opening, YES the hole is gone, , BUT THE DOOR IS STILL WARPED, , , , , , I got call from CARL, District manager, who said he would give me a smaller residential door with a seal around, BUT HIGHER price, , giving me $500.00 on current warped door and another $300.00, i would have to pay to get residential door with seal. because CARL said he would cost more to but on a new door residential, at $800.00, , , I felt being SCAMMED, , I chose the original door with the band aid foam around shed door as sealed. CARL would not give me the same $500.00 discount as before for the WARPED door, so i can move on from this VERY STRESSFUL incedent from August 13, -- October10th approximately.. Carl was not helpful, , but making a buck and NOT HELPING CUSTOMER for a failed product, , I was disappointed!
CUSTOMER SERVICE is NOT CARL or RON strong point. THIS WHOLE ORDEAL made me very angry from purchasing this product and doing busy with TUFF SHED in the future. I WILL LET people KNOW on SOCIAL MEDIA, and community about a possible loss on a BRAND NEW PRODUCT with POOR manager guidance!

Desired outcome: MONEY BACK ON DOOR and ANY AGGRAVATION for the past few months $600.00 would fix the issue as I need to HIRE someone to fix door properly!!

It is true that doors don't fit like a proverbial glove. The reason for this is that wood will breath over time in different forms of climates. If they fit too tight, they could warp to the point you couldn't open or close them at other times.

Tuff Shed Tuff Shed that I purchased

I bought a shed 2 years ago. All of a sudden it's leaking the bottom of my shed floor every time it rains there's water on it after calling 10 times finally got a hold of someone and a sales representative came over tried to fix it but notice any it needs more shingles. He said he would call me back or come over and do it I've been waiting a month and still not done. The number that I got now that got the guy does not answer the phone so I'm getting the runaround I just want my shed fixed. This has been a horrible experience.

Tuff Shed Tuff shed installation not completed - roof left open

My Tuff Shed installation was supposed to be done on 5/19, then it got pushed to 5/28. It is a 8x10 shed. The contractor came out to build it and did not finish. He then came back and left a worker. It seems to be nearly finished, but I believe they make a mistake when installing the ridge vent on the roof. The roof is left open to the elements - uncovered and no tarp or shingles to prevent water damage. The contractors never showed up again. It is now 6/8 and shed is still unfinished. Customer Service rep Abbey is unresponsive and unhelpful. She lied to me to get rid of me and told me someone would be out to finish it Friday - No one showed up. I have a $6, 000 shed sitting out with an open roof and we are expecting rain. It is too high for me to get up there to tarp it.

Desired outcome: Come finish my shed before it gets water damage.

Tuff Shed Service

Your employee was extremely unhelpful. He acted as though we were an inconvenience. Not once did he get up from his chair, very unwilling to offer any assistance. If you're expecting an increase in sales from your employees, you'll be extremely disappointed.

Desired outcome: Hire new employees

Cannot get a response from customer service about malfunctioning door lock. Shed is new so should be fixed in a timely manner but cannot get anyone to answer their phone. Tuff Shed Customer service

Tuff Shed was purchased as a Christmas gift. It was installed Feb 1st.
They had the information and confirmed it, however, it was still painted the wrong color.
They came back to repaint it, ran out of paint, and just left without saying a word.
When the sales rep was notified a few days later, he stated the workers had not notified him of the problem. He requested pictures be emailed to him, which they were on Feb 6th.
No contact with anyone from the company since.
I uploaded the pictures to the Tuff Shed Facebook page with the same info as above. It appears they took it right down.
Don't they want to showcase their work?
Rick Goelzhauser

Desired outcome: Complete the paint job correctly.

Tuff Shed 10x12 shed

Ordered it on Sept 3, 2020, no communication until early Dec for installation, I called numerous times for any information regarding dates and pad requirements, they never called back! Rescheduled installation twice due to COVID, that's fine. One occasion no showed up, no call, next no show, but they called! When they did show up there were no shingles, trim boards and the ramps they sold me were "never" offered but they were on the sales order they signed off on, so they sent three foot ramps after selling me 6 foot ramps. Two weeks later they still have not completed the shed, upside is we have had a chance to look at it and find no studs on the door wall, the side wall has wall studs however there are no nails on two of the studs, the shingles are blowing off, still have no trim or drip trims and they are harassing me to sign off on the job as complete. I do not blame the contractor, he was given a poor quality product to work with and had to go to the hardware store to purchase shingles just to install them as well as a few other items to cover the insufficient factory issues. Tuff Shed will not return my calls or provide me with a schedule for completion.

Desired outcome: Finish assy of the shed

Tuff Shed Purchased, not installed, three months

I had problems with scheduling right away. They made promises since September, install dates were missed without notification. I have missed days of work, I have spent hours on the phone, I have called every number. One excuse after another.

Now, my calls are not being returned, and there is no installation date set, $6, 000 dollars has been stolen from me. I feel like My only recourse is to go to Home Depot and beg for a refund.

Please help?

Tuff Shed Shed installation

Please beware of Tuff Shed buildings especially if you are unable to properly inspect the building after assembly. We purchased a $6000, 10 x 16 barn style shed back in Sept 2020. It was due to be installed a month later in October due to a waiting list. The original install was cancelled and we rescheduled for two weeks later. Upon completion, there was a plethora of poor craftsmanship, poor quality latches, walls out of plumb that are visible to the naked eye, trim improperly installed, 3" gaps in roof barriers, doors misaligned, trim pieces cut over an inch short, incomplete paint job, tongue and groove flooring installed improperly defeating the purpose of tongue and groove, missing support for overhead loft, forgot to caulk any of the shed and other miscellaneous smaller items. We have called numerous times, even had a manager visit our home who was appalled at the work that had been done. We keep getting promises to repair with zero follow through. They had a contractor come by to perform repairs and he only covered the mistakes with blocks off wood over the ceiling gaps, tried to repair a poor reveal on double, Mr. Ed style doors and damaged the already cheap hardware, installed a new floor over the top of the original, improperly installed floor and left it looking worse than the original. When the manager visited our home, he actually pointed out mistakes I wasn't even aware of. It is now Dec 3rd and we cannot get a call back to fix obvious and multiple poor craftsmanship items. We purchased this shed as my wife runs a nonprofit for a veteran service organization and we were throwing money away on storage rental. We have been impacted by Covid and now paying for our storage rental and the shed hoping they would make it right so we could move our storage into the shed but cannot get a call back at this point. We purchased from Tuff Shed Mesa in Arizona.

Tuff Shed Preparation and quality of build

I wish someone would have came out to my home. Instead, they used google earth to survey the area and provide recommendations. This is not bad however; you are taking a risk. They may recommend the wrong color match for your siding and roof. Which is what happen to me. When you complain about it, they revert back to the documents you signed. Well, you got me there. Most customers tend to go with the recommendation given. You have to assume we are novice. Now, I'm an easy-going guy, but it was hard to let things slide on this build, being that I paid near $4000. The vent holes where cut but no vents. The double door is not lined up. The floor is not secured to the joist. When standing on it, it dips in. Once you see a few mistakes, thing just start to pop out at yea. Just under half of the nails used did not even make contact with the jointing wood. I had more nails laying in and around the shed, then in the wood. Lastly, I don't recall ordering a bunch of used cigarette butts to be placed in and around the shed. I'm sure that was free of charge. Now, I apologize if you can hear anger in my voice through these words. That's not my intent. In my line of business, I cannot afford to be screwed over. I came home from sitting on a mountain top in vic Balkh province in Afghanistan to get this thing done for my wife and failure is not an option. I need you guys to get these complains fix ASAP. Even if it cost me more. I have 24 days before I am sitting back on that MT. Y'all have a nice day.

Tuff Shed Shed

Purchased a shed from Home Depot. I did the research and figured Home Depot and Tuff Shed would deliver a great quality product.
I paid for the product in early April and the final completion was in June. I was charges 142.00 in interest over that time.
The initial installation had flaws.
None of the ends met, the window was broken on installation, The roof was incorrectly installed. After a month and many phone calls they (Tuff Shed) came out and took off the shelving and roof! A tarp was installed over the area where the roof once stood. As it rained the weight of the water pulled the sides in on the shed. Many, many phone calls later and two people arrived from TX to fix the issues... several weeks later they completed the shed... did not put their name plate on the shed... go figure.
Phone calls, interest paid, time consumed, frustration... I should have at least been given a discount... They ran!
Home Depot and Tuff Shed have both let me down.
funny how Karma works out... buying another shed... will go with other companies... but will remember the false hopes form this.
I am not giving up, whenever I feel I should let it go I get upset and still feel I am owened something. The lady I contacted at Home Depot said it was so bad that I should have been given the product for free!

Tuff Shed Miss representation of product

My name is Richard Craver & live at 2027 Silver Spur St' Las Cruces NM 88012 I called Ron Meese the salesman for Tuff shed in Las Cruces, NM about the 21st of Sept & he came out with a lap top computer & set up the shed I was interested in & I marked the shed I was interested in on his brochure He set up the unit on the computer with the price and all the other details & then asked me to look at it which was very hard to keep my distance because of the Vires and the computer information was so small I told him I could not read most of it and I have good eyesight. At that time I told him I don`t like any surprises so I went over what I wanted a (8' x 10' shed with a door on the 8' end) Ron said I will send you an e-mail as soon as I get home so you can review it in case you have any questions about it. From that time on I never heard from him or any else until the 26th of Sept. from the builder in El Paso, NM that they were starting the building of my shed & it would be delivered on Oct. 3rd I tried to call Ron several times & then the crew came on Sept. 3rd to set up the shed. I wasn`t feeling very well that day because I am 83 yrs. old & just went thru the moving into a new home so I showed them where I wanted it & when they were finished I took a quick look at it & it looked Ok. Because I ordered a 10' by 12' shed from them for my old house just 2 yrs, before I got treated great & I had a good opinion of then I trusted the Co. Later that day I was feeling a little better & my wife & I went out to take another look at it and I said it looks a lot smaller then I thought it would. My wife said our shed at our old home was 10' x12' so I guess it would look smaller. I decided to measure it just to make sure & it measured 6' 2' x 10' 2' I tried to call Ron that day several times but never got an answer so I figure he must have Fri. & Sat. off so on Sun. morning I called Ron again and he answered this time I told him that I was disappointed because I knew I had asked for an 8' by 10'and never received and e-mail or any other communication from him & never got any paper work on the order since he came to my home and set up the transaction. I am so disappointed with Tuff Shed and Ron Maese that I want them to come back to remove the Shed & refund my money.

Tuff Shed Concrete supports, wood shims, trim boards, door drip edge, door, not level

Concrete pad stacks are rolling to the right, some of the blocks are broken, some are not supporting the building, the entire building appears to be shifting to the right. shims have not been installed properly, shims are coming loose, some are not supporting the building at all, the door drip edge is pulling away from wall, the belly trim above door is pulling away from wall. All support pads were installed inline with outside of rim joists but either they have moved or the building has.
This was a concern I had when talking to the person from Tuff Shed which came to inspect the location. I explained to him that the ground in this area was extremely soft. He assured me that would not be a problem and if it did there was a 5 yr warranty to cover it. This statement was also told to me by the installer sent by Tuff Shed. I have not been able to contact the warranty department. I have been trying for about 4 months now. All I get is a machine that tells me to press 1 for a call back or 2 to leave a message. I have done both but I have not received a response. I have however spoke to Home Depot which put me in contact with Tuff Shed in Oklahoma City I spoke with a young lady (Robby) said she would pass it to her General Manager, still no call back. I spoke to a salesman (Keith Wells) on 7/29/2020 at Tuff Shed in Oklahoma City. He said he would pass it on to the proper people, as It was not his department, and copy me on his E-mail. I did not receive the copy and no one has contacted me.

Tuff Shed Tuff shed warranty issue

I have a warranty issue with my double doors. They are sagging due to too short of screws being used on the hinges for how heavy the doors are. Based on bad responses from my previous complaints, I had an email for an assistant manager in the Louisville, Kentucky plant. Over 3 weeks ago she answered and stated the District Manager, Barry Glastetter, would contact me to get me on the schedule. I have not heard back from Barry or any of my followup emails. While I like my shed in general, the customer service from this company is very poor. I had provided pictures to the company in my original email to Stephanie Traver

Tuff Shed Storage building

I have called the customer service number perhaps 5 times and have yet to talk with a customer service person about my warranty problem. The door will not close properly forcing me to slam it and yank very hard to open it. It is a simple warranty fix, but no one calls me back.

I do not understand why a company that touts their quality and their service fails to contact me about a simple warranty matter.

TUFF SHED fails to live up to its warranty.

Tuff Shed 8x12 shed

Tuff Shed in St. George has an awesome salesperson but everything he promised was not delivered. My shed was originally promised for June the 8th and I paid more than I would have paid Home Depot for the same shed because of the earlier promise date. Since I wanted to have it by my birthday. Today is June 29th 2020 and my shed is still a mess. They left a gap where you can see the metal frame inside and water can get inside. Look at the door. Does that door match up? Disgraceful and now they tell me that due to their installer having Covid they don't even have a date to be able to schedule me for an appointment. The customer service is beyound the pale. The Las Vegas builders didn't ship or lost a door and my door still doesn't match. The gap is still there and they don't even care to call me and let me know what is going on. I have called them over 10 times. They over deliver and under promise. Do not order from them they are not the best as I have compared to my neighbors and their customer service is non existant.

Tuff Shed Deterioration of shed due to moisture

See above

The Tuff Shed brochure I received when purchased reads "All trim boards will have been painted front, back, sides, top and bottom before installation on your building. This process makes it virtually impossible for moisture to penetrate the substrate." Unfortunately moisture has deteriorated the trim boards and lower 8 inches of the siding. The trim boards are rotten and the local Tuff Shed office will not repair it. Furthermore, the brochure reads, "All four edges of your siding are painted. This is very difficult to do after your building has been assembled." The inside of the siding has not been painted.

Tuff Shed Shed

I am unhappy with my recent (May 6, 2020) TUFF SHED Pro Studio roofing installation. The nailing is defective and will likely lead to future problems. I did not realize the wrong nail size was used until after the installation when I noticed that nails were not penetrating the roof deck as they should have. Also, there was no cap flashing at the ridge and there were three nail heads left exposed. I had to have a custom cap flashing made by a local metal shop because TUFF SHED does not provide cap flashing at the top of their monoslope roofs. Without cap flashing rainwater can enter between the shingles and the underlayment. Cap flashing is an industry standard not followed by TUFF SHED.

TUFF SHED shingle roofing is typically installed over 7/16" OSB using 3/4" long roofing nails. This is seen in virtually all TUFF SHED models, even the Premier Pro Studio which comes with GAF Timberline architectural shingles. The nail length is not in TUFF SHED's advertised specifications so customers are unaware. The problem is, 3/4" nails are not long enough to go through Timberline shingles and fully penetrate the OSB deck. Full penetration of the deck is required by roofing shingle manufacturer instructions and by Building Codes. Much of the nail points remain within the thickness of the deck. In fact, if the nails are not overdriven, 3/4" nail points cannot penetrate the deck at all. Do the math: thickness of shingles at nailing strip plus thickness of deck is almost 3/4", making it impossible for the nail shank to penetrate the roof deck. Also, where roof nails enter the roof framing, the 3/4" nails do not meet the 3/4" embedment requirement of Code and manufacturer instructions, due to the thickness of the shingles.

These short nails are junk. They have little grip compared to properly sized 1-1/4" roofing nails and will pop up over time, lifting and damaging shingles and creating roof leaks. Just GOOGLE "shingle roof nail length" and you will see countless technical articles and illustrations warning of the problem with short nails. Many articles say avoid roofers who use 3/4" nails, calling these roofers "storm chasers" and "fly by night" operators. What is the point of having "lifetime architectural shingles" if the nailing is deficient and will detrimentally affect the long term performance of the roof?

It is no wonder I see complaints by TUFF SHED customers of shingles falling off or nails popping though within only a few years. Nails have been overdriven, damaging the shingle matrix, and the nails do not fully penetrate the roof deck. When asked why they use 3/4" nails, local TUFF SHED rep's say customers do not want the aesthetic of nails penetrating the roof deck and creating head hazards. I do not accept that excuse. My shed roof deck is well above head height and I fully expected the roof to meet industry standards and the Los Angeles Building Code. TUFF SHED's "What to Expect" document advises customers to expect to see nails pentrating the roof deck in order to meet Building Code requirements. I expected to see nails penetrating. When I didn't see that, I became concerned and asked my local technical rep why. He said they are coming through, just hard to see. I had to get up on a stepladder and look hard to see even a few nail points that made it through the chips at the bottom of the OSB.

In my installation most nail points are hidden within the deck and the few nail heads that do show are protruding only about 1/8". That leaves part of the nail points still in the deck which will likely, due to expansion and contraction of the deck, cause many of the nails to move up over time, lifting and popping through the shingles. Also, these short nails have few rings which gives them little grip within the deck material. They pull out easily. The fact that any nail points are visible at all means the 3/4" nails were overdriven, violating the shingle manufacturers instructions and voiding any shingle warranty.

TUFF SHED's local rep response is that TUFF SHED will repair roof damage due to defects during its 10-year limited warranty period. They offer no remediation other than "warranty service" for any issues that develop. Their technical rep asked me if I would like them to come and drive in some longer nails. There would be two problems with that: 1) driving in longer nails would not solve the problem of the existing short nails, which would still pop up, and 2) lifting the shingles to modify nails would destroy the manufacturer shingle seal, creating its own long term performance issues. Only a total roof replacement would solve the problem.

I do not want to have to always be inspecting the roof and dealing with repeated call backs in future years, as many TUFF SHED customers have had to do. For a Premium Pro Studio model I expected a reliable roof on day one that is properly installed in compliance with industry standards and local Building Code. I did not get that. I got what every other unsuspecting TUFF SHED customer gets, a substandard roof installation.

3/4" roof nails for shingles on 7/16" OSB or 1/2" plywood should be outlawed. They are the mark of roofers who do not know what they are doing or deliberately do not follow shingle manufacturer instructions. For a few more dollars, longer nails could be used in compliance with industry standards and many future shingle problems could be avoided. I would have readily paid the cost of longer nails.

By registering this complaint, I am alerting other TUFF SHED customers to the TUFF SHED short nail defect. Beware! For me, I am uncertain what the resolution should be. On the one hand, I would like an immediate replacement of the entire roof, with all short nails removed and the replacement roof installed per Code with correctly sized nails. On the other hand, I don't know if I could trust TUFF SHED to do a professional tear off and second install, since they didn't do it right the first time. A better option might be to accept a refund that would cover the cost of a replacement roof and let me choose my own contractor at the time of my choosing.

Tuff Shed 10 x 12 shed

Poor Quality, incomplete work, wrong door swing, missing parts should pretty well cover the product from Tuff Shed. The roof sags badly in the center because the walls were not held at dimension so they bowed out causing roof to sag. Windows out of square, door swings the wrong way, missing gable vents, building out of plumb. I have been trying to get them back out to fix the issues for over 4 months. General Manager ensured me it would be taken care of in less than 6 weeks, what a joke. I have contacted the BBB and the responses to BBB from Tuff Shed were completely false, they said they had been in contact which was not true, the next response was they were calling me the next day the GM had been out sick. I received that email on 12/11/19 from BBB it is the 17th now and I still haven't heard from them. I can't imagine managing a business like they do. They need to reorganize from the top down, maybe then you may get someone qualified. I am through trying to get this resolved next correspondence to them will be from someone else.
