TRS Recovery Services - False claims that I owe money for a returned check

I got 12 letters dated between March 19 and March 28 2022 saying that I owed money on orders from “Amazon Tesla” and Amazon Marketplace for returned checks on a closed account. This is impossible, because 1) I haven’t placed 12 orders during that time period or on the days specified; 2) I don’t pay for AMAZON orders online with checks. I haven’t bought anything online with a check in 20 years; and 3) I have the same bank account that I have used for the past 25 years. Called Amazon- I don’t owe them anything. Called my Amazon card- no overdue payments. Checked with my bank- nothing has been reversed to anyone. Checked the Amazon orders I’ve actually made, and the dollar amounts don’t match with my purchases. This entire thing is just an elaborate fraud.

Desired outcome: Take this nonsense off my name. These are not my debts and I am not paying for debts that are not mine.

TRS Recovery Services - fraudulent attempt at debt collection

On Thursday, June 13th, I received four letters from TRS Recovery Services in my name claiming three different unpaid electronic fund transfers with "AMAZON MARKETPLACE PMTS" and "AMAZON.COM SERVICES INC." as merchants. They showed check numbers and claimed under the heading "Reason Returned: Check returner, account closed"

I did not make any purchases through amazon at that time, nor have I ever made any purchases with amazon for the dollar amounts shown, nor have I ever had a purchase made through amazon fail to be delivered or fail to show in my bank records that accurate payments were made. I contacted Amazon and they have no record of any failed or returned payments on my account. These alleged transactions simply never happened.

After attempting to file a dispute of the debt via the TRS website (which prompts disputers to enter bank account information, driver license numbers, and social security numbers) and receiving a message that there was an error with the submission with no details whatsoever of what that error may be (I did not fill in any of the protected information fields), I finally decided to call 678-255-2828 and sit on hold to wait for a customer service agent to take my call. My call was answered after a wait time of 46 minutes. The CSA confirmed that they do have record of the three supposed debts, but was not able to do anything to assist me with the dispute. She just referred me back to the website form, and gave me a fax number also. I then had a moment of revelation and asked the customer service rep explicitly "does TRS Recovery Services have the authority to report uncollected debts to credit bureaus?" And she said, "no, we do not report to credit bureaus." So I hung up and will not be responding to any further notices about these fake debt claims.

TRS Recovery Services - debt collection

On 3/11/19, I made a purchase for $27.50 with Amazon. It was approved and I received my product. On 3/24/19, I received a collection letter from TRS Recovery Service stating the EFT from my checking account was returned due to "account closed". I have not closed or changed my checking account in the last multiple years. Furthermore, the last 2 digits noted for my checking account is a number that does not match my checking account. TRS wants me to pay the $27.50 plus a returned check fee of $25.00. I contacted Amazon Customer Service to determine why my purchase was referred to TRS. I had an incredibly difficult experience with Amazon's Customer Service Department which yielded no results.

I contacted TRS but had no access to person. My only option is to complete a dispute on TRS website or mail a letter.

It's a SCAM. I contacted Amazon and they claimed to not even use TRS. What concerned me was that TRS had a lot of detailed information, so it looked totally legit. TRS said that a check did not clear, it was paid with a credit card. Dont trust these guys and report them the AG wherever you are at
