Great Fun charges made to my debit card

My mother's a senior citizen and she never buy online using her debit card. If she needs to buy online I always use my account.
The sad part she's not checking her bank statements and never suspected anything because she said, no one is using it but her.
For some reason, I decided to check her banking statements and was shocked to find out that this, TLG*FYE VIP has been charging her since November 2013!
As soon as I told her about it, she went to her bank and complained but the bank can only refund her 3 months and changed her ATM card.
Please help, this company's ripping people off. Specially senior citizen.

Great Fun unauthorized billing

I signed up for some shopping discount sight, I think the name of it was "big fun" or something like that to get a rebate. The agent I spoke to on the phone suggested I sign up, get my rebate and then cancel. He suggested I do this! The agents get you to sign up and then make you think you are cancelling the membership and will not be charged! There must be some fine print or something that explains that you'll also sign up for other sights and be charged a fee. But, they don't tell you that! This is a scam! I promptly cancelled the membership after receiving the rebate. Now I see that i've been charged monthly for something else. Tlg*buyers advantage. Shady scam and needs to be investigated!

Great Fun unauthorization of monthly fees on my credit card

My mother is 97 years old. Yesterday she brought to my attention her credit card statement for the preceding month. She said she didn't know what this charge was that she keeps being charged each month. It said TLG Shopper and a charge of $16.99. Come to find out they had been charging her monthly since September of 2015! I called the phone number provided on her statement for TLG. After arguing with a representative for 10 minutes she finally agreed to cancel the subscription, which my mother had never signed up for in the first place. This certainly is an example of taking advantage of the elderly. I just wanted to inform other people that have been affected by this scam what our solution was. I called my mother's credit card company and reported it. They are investigating TLG now and they also refunded the charges that had been made for 28 months! They cancelled my mother's card and issued her a new card to protect her from scam. So if you are still being charged from TLG fraudulently, contact your credit card company. My mother was saved $500!

Great Fun scam

They never sent me anything in the mail or through email like they said they would. The guy told me that I would receive the canceling number through email and in the information packet through the mail. I never received either and just got charged $16.99! I had to look up the number today because I noticed the charge. I want a refund and I would not recommend them for anything!

Great Fun receiving multiple payments

I called the 'great fun' company last night, dec 5th, and was told that I cannot cancel the membership until the pending payment went though. well, I waiting and got three notifications from my credit card saying that more payments (for one dollar however) went through to my credit card. I never wanted the stupid membership in the first place. I want my money back, and I don't care if I have the stupid membership.

Thank you for writing your review, it saved me the hassle of getting ripped off as I too was told the exact same about my purchase and “how special this offer is because I would get my rebate regardless of keeping the service of Great Fun after the 1 month trial period expires”. After reading your review and many others of the same general experience, I opted out of any rebate because I could tell that it sounded fishy and looked up your review while on the phone. So thank you for sharing and I’m sorry you had a dollar or more taken with nothing received. They probably do this to 50% of the people who are sent to them from buying something else, and when summed, make a ton of money from getting just $1 from many people who think they will get the deal where they get $50 vs the $25 original rebate they are offered. In the end the customer gets nothing and the “Great Fun” business makes out with customers money for nothing. This company needs to be referred to the better business bureau for scamming people out of their money. It’s like the movie Office Space, $1 is seemingly nothing just as 1 penny is even less noticeable, but $1 from 1 million people is scamming 1 million dollars, where you or me doing so would go to jail when caught. This should be no different. I’m going to refer them and I think I everyone who reads this and who actually paid any money to “Great Fun” should make a complaint so they see that this is not a witch hunt, it’s the truth and just as I was saved the hassle by yours and others reviews or your experience, many other people would be saved the trouble and frustration of being told they would receive a $25-$50 rebate for their purchase by using this scam for a $1 trial period, that never showed up in their mailbox. Thank you for sharing as you saved myself and most likely many others from being ripped off. Now it needs to be brought to the authorities attention that this whole thing is a scam and the company’s who associate with “Great Fun”
Should be held liable as well.

Great Fun rebate

I signed up for a trial membership of one month and was told, more than once, that any rebates I file during that time "would be mine to keep" whether or not I decide to continue the membership after the trial. I have not yet received any rebates and was told that I will not since I did not continue my membership after the trial period. Total rip off

No, that is not true. I sent out the rebate form the next day I signed up and I received the $50 rebate check a few days before my one month free trial is up. I called and cancel it with no hassle at all. I got my $50 rebate money from them.

Great Fun rebate not received

I purchased ticket from Spirit airlines. At the end of the purchase, I got an offer to register with greatfunsite indicating that I will receive $50 for signing-up by paying $1. I called up the number, discussed in detail, read reviews online, and it seems like worth trying. But I am disappointed to say that I never received my rebate! They kept saying that they can't see if they received my rebate details and it would take their system 6-8 weeks to update the information. On the 9th week, very promptly, they said that they never received my rebate details. It is such a waste of time and a scam. Had I not cancelled my service I would have been charged $16 every month. If they couldn't keep on 1 promise, they wouldn't keep on any. If spirit airlines partners with such fraud people then they are dubious as well!

Great Fun ripoff

I bought tickets to Earth, Wind & Fire Concert in Billings, Mt and I was advised that I could get a rebate back from Great Fun and it sounded interesting but was to busy to cancel this within 30 days. I am not interested in anything Great Fun has to offer and know it's a ripoff and want it to stop taking money out of my account. Thank You Gerald R. Jackson

Great Fun cancel trial membership

still trying to cancel this membership so you will stop taking money from my account. Tried email, tried calling...don't know what else to do...maybe I'll contact the BBB to report fraud? Someone PLEASE help me! My email is: dhpstl2aol.com. Not giving out my phone number-your company already has it.! And in your "details" you tell people to be polite? Wow-you much get a lot of complaints if you have to include that. I was buying a ticket off the Spirit Airlines website for my nephew to come visit and was prompted to sign up for a trial membership to Great Fun. Also there was a $50 rebate on my ticket purchase to be included with this membership...Needless to say, I didn't get the rebate and I am still getting charged the $15/month charge for this. I don't want the service-haven't used it once. Please cancel this membership and stop charging my account! Thank you.

Either close your account or report your card as being hijacked. Usually closing the account works best. Your bank should be able to get your charges back.

Great Fun ticketmaster rebate

Bought very expensive tickets via ticketmaster and was offered a $30 rebate if I do a $1 trial with greatfunsite.com. Only catch was I needed to call and cancel the service before the next month or I would be charged much more. I googled and saw where someone said it worked for them. So I went ahead and called to ask about it and they offered me 2 $30 rebates if I joined right then. So I did it. I was then told that I couldn't cancel for the first 5 days. So I called after that amount of time and was told the rebate info would be emailed to me. It never was. So I called again and was told it would be a week before they send it. I finally got the info after calling again to cancel and complaining. I had to email the info sent and copy of the receipt for tickets to the address on the info. I have now been waiting for a very long time and have received nothing. I am very angry and think its totally unacceptable for ticketmaster to be with this company. You already have too many charges when checking out and to add this shady business on top of it all is just horrible. So I insist on the 2 $30 rebates from either company and urge everyone to never try this. Greatfunsite.com's phone number is [protected]
Please help me!

Great Fun fraudulent charges on my credit card

I was alerted by Etrade Fraud Prevention regarding a reoccurring charge of $16.99 that ETrade declines from TLG Great Fun. I was online looking at concert ticket prices through one of my website sources called LiveNation.com who is affiliated with this company called TLG Great Fun. Although I did not make a transaction through LiveNation this company TLG Great Fun decided they would keep trying to charge my ETrade credit card account for $16.99 every month without my knowledge or consent.

When I contacted them the representative just simply kept apologizing until I finally said: Please don't apologize anymore but rather answer the question I keep asking you which is: "Has your company been trying to charge my card every month for $16.99 to open a membership with your organization without my knowledge or consent? And has your company taken it upon themselves to obtain my stored credit card information with LiveNation without my knowledge and consent..yes or no? She again started with the apologies but did manage to say yes to charging my credit card but assured me there should be no charges as your card keeps declining the transaction. I said: Thanks to ETrade's catching this! She then followed up the conversation indicating that she would promptly cancel my membership with their company and I again told her I had no knowledge that I had ever signed up for a membership. I asked her to please send me a copy of when this took place and the authorization. She asked if I would like to speak to her manager. I said: No thank you but you can let your Manager know that I will be filing a formal complaint for obvious fraud. I would also like a cancellation confirmation number from you assuring me of no membership and no past, present or future fraudulent charges on my credit card, your name and agent ID please so that I may give this information to my fraud prevention department at ETrade.

How is this company still operating with all of the complaints I have read from multiple reporting sites? How is their not a class action lawsuit in effect with this company?

Great Fun they are frauds!

Just got off the phone, with mastercard, for the 2nd time in as many weeks. I had an ongoing charge on my cc, for $16.99, it was from a tlg / shoppers advantage company. It is supposedly a shopping club. The first time 2 weeks ago, via a 3 way conference call with mc and tlg, I was told I signed up for their service, while applying for a rebate for an item purchased from tiger direct. They said I checked a box to do a 30 free trial, it also, I was told, said that after 30 days, if I did not cancel, they would sign me up, and charge my credit card. First, I never checked any box, second, I would never join a buyer's club, third, during this rebate process, I would never include my cc # for a mfg rebate, for rebates, you show proof of purchase and from where, you do not show how you paid for the item. So, how did tlg get my cc #, only place would be from tiger. So,,,, 2 weeks ago,,, mc and I stopped any further billing, cancelled my non-existent membership, I know it was non-existent, as I tried to log in with my email,, and it said no such email existed in their system. So, that brings us to today,,,, I looked at recent transactions,,, and 'snap', here is a $16.99 charge from tlg! I went nuts,,,,,, called mc, real nice lady looked through my account, and saw all this recent activity,,, then she said hold on, she called this tlg, I told her to call the sheriff too. When she came back to me, she said tlg told her I had two accounts, and I only requested to cancel one.! So, I was still an active member,,,,, #%#$%$#^, to that. I told the nice lady, that was total bull,,, if I had two accounts,, my bill should have been $33.98 per month,, for two accounts. Mc is going to credit me the recent 16.99. So,,,,, beware of tiger direct, and rebates,,, and never join or even talk about buyer's clubs,,,,,

Great Fun not sure what they provide

I discovered a TLG Shopper monthly fee on my Credit Card Statement, for 16.99. My lackluster auditing of my statements kicked me, this repeating charge is over a year old. Anyway, contacted my Card company, said stop this charge, they basically said they could not with speaking to TLC. So, , , , , , we had a 3 way call, , , TLG said I was a member with an account number, , , , that was BS, , , as earlier I had tried to log on to TLG to try to find out some information, but could not, , , TLG said they had no one with my e-mail address as a customer, so how did I have an account ? They continued saying this started as a result of a purchase I made to Tiger Direct, and then applied for a factory rebate on the item. Somewhere in the rebate application, was a check box, checked, saying I wanted a 30 day trial of TLG, then if I did not notify to end it, it would continue and be billed to my credit card. Again BS, I obviously gave my CC to Tiger, but I know not again to a no-name shopping aid operation. So, how did TLG get my card info, since I did NOT give it to them, from Tiger ? TLG is as crooked as a dog's hind leg.

Great Fun scam

I received notification in the mail from both Shoppers advantage and Great Fun advising me of the reoccurring charge I would be paying unless I called and cancelled my membership. Problem is I never gave either company my credit card number nor did I accept any discount offer from them, much less set up a "membership". When I called I was told I had responsed to a $1 trial offer which I did not. I had to cancel my credit card because both companies had already charged my card two months in a row. How can ### like this continue to stay in business. Is someone selling them CC information.

Great Fun unauthorized debit card

I called on Oct. 14th to cancel my membership. Well, after calling 4 different numbers I finally got to speak to a human being instead of being stuck on the phone for 10 or 15 minutes listing to boring advertising and almost falling to sleep. The gentlemen I spoke to told me he would go ahead and cancel my membership so I won't get charge for $16.99 from my bank account for October 2015. Well, surprise I got charged $16.99 from my bank account on Oct. 21, 2015 Ref.# 578010. My membership # [protected] and my cancellation # [protected]. All I want is my $16.99 refunded back to my bank account. Or I will go to Better Busy Bureau.

Great Fun membership

I cancelled my membership with Shoppers Advantage two days after it had contacted me about a membership. I researched the company and saw all the bad reviews, so I decided to cancel the membership. I called this number [protected] because that was the number to call for cancellations, that was in September. In November 2, the amount of $16.99 was withdrawn from my account, I called the same number 11/4/15 to question the amount withdrawn, Johnny ID # 25409, was the customer representative who talked to me and he stated that there was no history of my cancellation. I would like to get a refund of the membership fees that were withdrawn on Nov.2 and any other fees withdrawn.

I purchased a Miami Dolphins shirt off line. They offered me a $25.00 rebate coupons. I received (5) $5.00 coupons to use for different things. Like for gas, stores, and to eat out. But, I didn't use the coupons because, I didn't want to go through all the hassle of what I would have to do. So, I called on Oct.14th or Oct. 15th to canceled my membership. After I called 3 or 4 different numbers and listen to boring sale ads I finally got to speak to a person. I told the gentlemen I spoke to that automated advertisements was boring to listen to and they almost put me to sleep. Well, after all was said and done and I finally got to tell the customer service gentlemen I wanted to cancel my membership because, I didn't use the coupons. The gentlemen said fine your membership has been cancelled. Well, I just checked my bank statement and they took $16.99 out of my checking account on Oct. 21st without my permission and, my membership was suppose be cancelled. I guest the company thinks they can still take money out of people bank account no matter if their membership is cancelled. All I want them to do is cancel my membership and refund my $16.99. Because, the company already proven to too many people that they don't keep their word.

Great Fun was promised a $50 rebate to sign up with my reservation on volatile air lines

I was told that I would receive this rebate for booking a reservation on Volaris airlines. The one dollar fee was deducted from my acct and I was told that I would receive a rebate form in the mail. I called twice to check on the status of this form. I was told that I should receive the form in the mail. I called today to check on this. I was told that I did not register correctly and that there was no rebate. I then asked that my membership be cancelled. I have been told that this is done and that they would refund my dollar. I find that interesting and wonder if they hope I will not push the rebate issue any further. I feel that this is all a big scam and they hope that the individual will forget to cancel and be charged the 16.99 monthly fee.

Great Fun spirit airline, shoppers advantage - airfare; membership account and monthly fee

I would like to share to the public consumer to promote awareness of this conspiring scam of the these three companies: Spirit Airline, Great Fun, Shoppers Advantage: I signed up with Great Fun on 2/21/15 as an offer when I purchased a ticket from Spirit Airlines, with the offer of $1.00 trial membership, with a $50 cash back for the airline reservation. Membership can be cancelled during 30 days trial period with no obligation, able to keep the cashback regardless membership is cancelled or continued. If choose to continue, $16.99 will be automatically charged to the credit card used to purchase the "airline ticket". Cashback was received in reasonable time but here comes the bad part...I started to notice around June that I am being "double charged" on the membership fee each month by TLG. I called "Great Fun" and cancelled (without noting the reason for double charges). I was just glad that this charges will stop! Oct when I received my September statement with TLG charges of 16.99 on the "double" again. I filed a dispute claim with my credit card and request a "lock" to prevent further charges from this merchant. I Called TLG as well to inquire about this recent charges after I had cancelled my membership since June. I was told that the membership I cancelled was only with “Great Fun” and not “Shoppers Advantage” in which “TLG” charges occur. This is the reason why I am getting “double charges”: 1 from Great Fun, 1 from Shoppers Advantage! But if they acknowledged the cancellation number I gave is for Great Fun, why still a double charge which evidently means I am still being charged again by “Great Fun” plus “Shoppers Advantage”. I also do not remember being informed by “Great Fun” when I first signed up with them they are in “partnership” with Shopper Advantage” and did not sign up with them as well. Neither the “Terms nor Conditions” of Great Fun failed to clearly state the “Shoppers Advantage” program as a partner. Being a busy person whether I doubted the first time I noticed I have double charges and wanted to inquire about this, I just couldn’t find time until now in order to devote my weekend scrutinizing and realizing that this is a complete conspiracy of ### between “Spirit Airline, Great Fun and Shoppers Advantage” When I called TLG Costumer Service, representative accommodate my request of cancellation politely (Kudos to him for that) and when I have further inquiries about the double charges, I was transferred to the Supervisor in which neither he acknowledge or not the issue of being ”uninformed” for the partnership of this 2 companies that would be charging me each time; to end this all he settled to “refund me the last 4 months of membership billed to me or the last 8 charges (being double charged) billed to me.” Again, I should acknowledge this Supervisor for handling this issue in a very courteous manner, as I understand both the Member Service Representative and the Supervisor are only “employees” of these “conspiring companies” that feed on scamming the consumers! Most of the services offered by all three companies are very low standard, not worth my penny at all! For these 2 employees, my advice to you…find another company that is more reputable and worth your loyalty of employment because they need you there more than them, don’t be a part of their scam!

I have some actual answers for ya’ll. The service is legit. If you listen carefully to when you call they explain literally everything, you just have to listen. A lot of people get tired of hearing & are so used to giving out their information that they don’t even realize what it is that they are doing. Shoppers/ Buyers Advantage is, like someone else said, a second service that is offered at the end of signing up for Great Fun, but of course you can decline the offer, but that is where not paying attention comes in handy to them because they get to enroll you in two services instead of one. If you’re looking to get the rebates just join GREAT FUN for the thirty days, but DON’T agree to the services of Buyers/ Shoppers Advantage because that is another service. Just please be aware of what you’re doing & what you’re giving your card out for.

I called to try to get rebate, but she asked my email and introduced this program; then I said, if it's not just the simple rebate, then it's fine, I don't want to join because it's my husband's credit card. The only info I gave was my email, nothing sent to me; so they won't bill us anything, right?

Okay first off I work at the call center that takes these calls and I do this for a living so to say it's a scam it's not simply what we offer you is great fun with the first 30 days for one dollar with so many dollars in rebates and after that if you don't call to cancel we charge you 16.99 a month well there's an upsale to that called shopper or buyers advantage that comes with 20 dollars in gas rebates that is billed exactly the same but the two have different numbers to call and cancel so you have to call both numbers to get rid of those charges and don't say we scammed you because we are in India we are at Thomas L Cardella call center in Cedar Rapids Iowa and we have strict quality control of we miss one word in our script than we cancel the service for you and you don't get charged because of our bad information or confusion so again not a scam get yo facts strait

Yes it is a little shady, the way that the companies do this. But if you don't carefully check your email inbox you probably missed the email from Shoppers Advantage. I cancelled my membership with Great Fun and Shopper Advantage before the 30 day trial ended, mailed in my rebate, and received the $50 check.

Carefully monitor your email and save all of your information from Great Fun and Shoppers Advantage. Record your membership ID somewhere to use for cancellation purposes.

It's shady, but not a complete scam. You just gotta be on your toes if you choose to give out your credit card info and partake in something like this.

Did you get your rebate in the mail or was it on one of the two websites? Also, how long did it take you to get your rebate? Thanks!
