T.J. Maxx refused refund for defective item/bad management

We purchased 2 citrus juicers, they were both faulty. We went back and bought a completely different citrus juicer there later. This left us with 3 juicers, two of which were faulty. We decided to return the two that were faulty. We arrive there, we forgot the receipts. They tell us that they need the receipts. My husband runs home to get them and the girl starts processing the returns. She then says it has been used, can't return it. I said how were we to know that they were faulty if we hadn't of used them? Can I talk to a manager. She gets on the phone with him (Whit), she says he will tell me the same thing so why would I want to talk to him? I told her that I wish to speak to the manager. She is on the headset phone and she says something and then she tells me that he's on the phone with a different customer. I tell her that I will wait. She immediately presses a button on her headset and says that they said they are just going to wait here. 30 seconds later the manager comes to the front and he's very rude and he is clearly treating is like we are stupid and we felt like he was discriminating because of my husband and mother in laws race. He began with saying that we can't return a product after its been used even if it is defective and that there is no store that will take used items even if they are defective. I clearly showed him that the product was defective and its wrong that they will not take it back. He then changed the subject and said that he has two of the products we were trying to return and they work fine for him, then said "do you even know how to use it because most likely you are doing it all wrong".He also said do you even know which way the lemon goes? Thats when we realized that we were being discriminated against. Thegirl that was also helping him was smirking at us. When I asked for the number and name of a district manager he said that no one else is above him. I also asked if he would show me where their policy says that and he said that there is not anything he can show me, that it's just that way. When I insisted, he pointed to an 800 number on the wall and said to just call that number. We feel that we never ever want to shop there again.

As a TJ Maxx customer service coordinator, I can assure you that while I disagree with the way you were treated, they were, in fact, upholding the return policy in regards to not accepting used merchandise, especially since you did not have the receipts at the time. The return policy should be stated on the wall behind the customer service desk (or somewhere in that general vicinity) and does, in fact, state the refusal of used or worn merchandise.

T.J. Maxx store more like a dollar store

I used to or base my quilts, lingerie, slippers, name brand men's and women's clothing at this store. In past year or longer this store no longer carries quality clothing, quilts with matching shams etc and the store has no organization. The Sandusky store might as well close. if I want to purchase drug store items I will go to a drug store. Example of what this store now carries. I am disappointed the District Manager has not disciplined or fired the current manager for ruining a once great store. I now go to North Olmsted TJ Maxx to make my purchases. The Sandusky store needs someone that knows how to manage a store like TJ Maxx or they will soon be closing the doors for good

T.J. Maxx work environment

I got a job at TJMaxx in salem New Hampshire thinking it would be a good place to work but I was wrong. The managers are rude and disrespectful to all their employees except the older ones. They force 16 year olds to work past 10 pm. They share personal business of an employee with every other employee in the store. And the store always looks like crap. They expect 1 person to do 3 different job positions and if they aren't perfect they get mad. The managers need attitude adjustments and to read laws because last time I checked its illegal for minors to work after 10 pm and its against hippa rights to share personal information. ive heard them talk about other employees countless times sharing personal information and about how they work. The managers in this store make the company look awful. I would never recommend someone to work there. Besides the people, the pay is awful. Someone who's worked there over a year still only makes as much as someone just starting ($7.50). Horrible place. It needs to be fixed.

T.J. Maxx sexual harassment

Every time I make the mistake of forgetting what type of people work at department stores like this where the company (TJX) is benefiting (tax wise) from hiring employees who are co-dependent on the government for HPD (Housing Preservation Development) housing subsidized vouchers, welfare or EBT Food stamps I regret interacting with such people even though in this world we have to deal with ALL types of people. Every time I visit this particular Marshalls and other ones located in the five boroughs of NYC I can expect to be sexually harassed and prayed upon by the governmental employees who are single mothers etc looking to compliment their welfare benefits etc with by other types of cash flow which is having sexual relations with customers who will help them financially based on sex. I wouldn't think of touching these filthy women nor would I engage in any conversations with them other than customer service related issues. I see these ladies disrespecting themselves and the customers (especially the ones that are well dressed in designer clothing) to get what they call a "come up". I am not a source of any type of "come up" nor am I the government. That is one reason why I think twice before entering these Marshalls stores located in the five boroughs of NYC because most of the women there are prostitutes and I do not want to contribute to any disease epidemic based on any sexual contact with these woman of any kind. YUCK! NO THANKS!

Not everyone working in retail I.E. Marshall's or the like rely on the government for asssitance. People "working" are just trying to earn money
to supply them with the basics of survival, you did not mention your stellar employment to offer the life of luxury you are being preyed upon for.
Working in retail, as with any job has a realm of personality types, if you honestly believe what you say then perhaps you should look in the mirror
and start with yourself maybe your comments are only a reflection of self. Or maybe you posted said comment because you need attention.

T.J. Maxx rudest manager ever! rocio

I do volunteer work at a senior citizens center. a 90 yrs old man with dementia was found to be buying clothes( using all his savings) for his wife that that had passed away 2 years ago. I agreed to take him tp store with the meserchandise about $200 worth so he could get a credit and buy something for Him.
Well the manager, of store in KIngs Park, store # 0589, name ROCIO CUNALATA literally interrigated me and made me feel like items were stolen. Then she insisted on speaking to the old man. I requesred she Not speak to the old man because he could have a breakdown about his wife(it took us a long time to get him to realize the clothing had to be returned for his wife was gone) jbut she Completely ignored me and went to him anyway and began whispering to him. Now my ob is to Protect him. I finally had to intervine and then she took another 10 minutes scurtinizing My id and his.
This manager is known for being the Rudest, nastiest person ever! Ive heard numerous complaints about her from other seniors and workers. Now they ALL refuse to shop at this store. I will see to it the corporate office address her disgraceful behavior

T.J. Maxx fake ray ban sunglasses

Yesterday, I lost my Polo Ralph Lauren sunglasses to Lake Lanier. So today, I decided I was going to look for a new pair. I started at the sunglasses stores in the area but thought I would try my TJ Maxx (which I am a super regular shopper) because I knew sometimes they had higher end sunglasses manufacturers. I found a pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers and decided they were exactly what I wanted and at a good price so bought them. I have since gotten back home and since I tend to do recon on everything I purchase I noticed that the numbers on the onside frame and decided to see what type of deal I had just gotten, but to my shock I could not fins these numbers anywhere online. So I decided to take them to a retailer of Ray Ban sunglasses and they spotted they were fakes right away. I also looked at the tag that is on the sunglasses and noticed it was the tag that appears to my knowledge to be a return label because it only has the price and doesn't have the typical compare at ($) and up and is printed in a different font. I don't know if these were returned and the TJ Maxx employee just overlooked it, but either way this is ridiculous and I expect higher standards from a store I probably shop at once a week. I don't know what to do at this point but to file a complaint and try and speak with a store manager or higher and figure out why I was sold a fake product for brand price.

As you can see in the photos below wrong starting numbers for Ray Ban which start with RB not W714PD
and in the other picture fake screws. These are what told me screams fake from the Ray Ban Retailer I asked.

T.J. Maxx unprofessional and under trained

Cashiers are not properly trained to process a simple credit card. If you have an AMEX Card do not use it there. Associates do not know how the enter simple number into their own system to be process. One cashier/associate attempted to process
the card four times and still screw it up and informed me it was the care being rejected. Wait, it gets better, another associate come to help and give the same general script that is was the credit card. I used another common credit card and no problem. I then called the AMEX company to find out if it was the card itself. I was informed that the store continued to enter the incorrect security code several times and finally the card rejected processing it due to continued entry error. I then used the same card next door and purchased various items. I then called back to the store to talk with a unprofessional Assistant Manager with the name of D something or another. He was rude and rush to get me off the telephone. Called again to speak to the manager and seems I kept getting disconnected while awaiting for her to come to the phone. I have decided never to spend another dime in the place and let everyone I know exactly what they are really about. Poor customer service!

T.J. Maxx managers

I am an employer at Tj maxx in Hamden. Iv been working there for quite awhile & I know that everyone isn't nice but these managers... Are the most rudest, selfish & careless of managers that I have ever seen in my life. There is no reason for them to talk down to there employes & my expect anyone not to say anything because they feel the need that there managers & they can do whatever they want forgetting that there human beings just like the rest of us. Another time they made a cashier cry, they said she was stupid & some other words was thrown in there & in front of customers. Customers went off on the manager as well. At night times it's worse when I first started I explained that 9:30 I would have to leave because of the bus it was fine, as long as m section was cleaned then I can go. Everytime my section is cleaned I get yelled at saying I can't do that. But I got the OK that I can... & instead of trying to get it all nice, they procrastinate so we won't be leaving Untill 10-10:30 . I can understand that it's not there responsibilities on how you get to & from work, but knowing you said okay is another story . I wish people can actually see for there self instead of writing it because it don't sound bad now ... But work there ! The most rudest sarcastic managers you'll ever meet. It makes you not want to come to work & that's terriable .

Loretta Cruz is suppose to be a model employee but she isnt. She is a cheater and a tramp. I was imformed that she doesn't even know who the father of Kayla Iris Cruz is. She used my friend so she could end her marriage so she could have flings with other guys. Everyone thinks she is innocent but she isn't, she ruiNed my friend. How can you trust your employees if they are tramps?

Maybe district managers should take this complaint seriously and inspect the way the management treats their staff. There is no excuse ever to discipline a employee in public and that behavior is unprofessional, cruel, and uncalled for. I have had the misfortune of having some horrible managers and can relate. A manager should be someone that has excellent communication skills and is professional. I have had to deal with some horrible managers that had no business being in positions of authority and had no. communication or people skills and they caused misery and drama to the workplace, as well as the employees. It is sad how many [censored]bags become management and have no business or training to be so. In todays workforce it is all about who's ### you kiss and who you know.

T.J. Maxx rude and unprofessional treatment to employees

Mr. Kulkulski is rude to all of our employees. He made a threat to me in front of a customer, who heard the threat. He thought I was ignoring a customer when, in fact, I was calling another store for her. He came up to the jewelry counter, looked at her then looked at me and said rudely while pointing at me, "You're lucky". The customer said "Did he just say that to you?" I was embarrassed and said " I didn't hear him. Early that morning, an employee, that I relieved from that department, said he was rude and disrespectful to her and apologized for it, but it was not the first time he was disrespectful and apologized to her. I could go on with other things I have witnessed, but I won't. He is very unprofessional and no one is doing anything about it. No one is happy when he is working.

Management always threaten to fire me if I don't say the rewards credit card to every single customer. Give me a break. I'm sorry but I'm not going to push someone into getting something they do not want. I'm not going to ask someone to get a TJX rewards are if they are spending 10 dollars. Customers probably get sick of it too. One time management brought me into the backroom to lecture me about saying the credit card to every customer. I just smiled and said "I'll try" Then she told me I was "the weakest link" and I need to improve. Another time they told me that if I don't ask every customer if they want to sign up for the card then I was "discriminating" those who I did not ask (somethibg anout company policy and discriminating). I simply responded with "ok so if I don't ask anyone, then I won't be discriminating anyone." Management just makes working boring because I sound like a half asleep robot when asking the same question over and over again "would you like to sign up for our TJX Rewards Credit Card and try to save ten percent on your purchase?" Can they fire me for not saying the credit card to every customer? (I have gotten 6 cards in the past year so I'm not sure what the big deal is)

T.J. Maxx faulty handbag

I purchased a handbag from TJMAXX in their Rosecrans Store San Diego California in May of 2011. At the time wa family member was seriously ill and died in August of that year but not before I had dome 3-5 trips/week with him to and from hospitals and physicians. Then another family member had problems and I had to deal with that so I was very busy and had no reason to use the bag as it was quite a special a beautiful one. The handbag I did not use until some time last year in 2012 at a military function. The first time I used the bag it opened up at the handle and fell to the ground spreading the contents everywhere. The next time I used it I had the same problems. The bag has faulty clips that attach the handle to the body of the bag. I have all my receipts etc. The bag was $299 plus tax. Well when I complained to the store they told me they'd take the bag give me $5.99 for it and why did I wait so long? I had no idea what to do but as other stores like Nordstrom etc will honor a return for such an event I thought I could do something after all. I rang several times to the TJ Maxx customer relations phone and got three different people promising to call me back in 48 hours and they haven't. So I am stuck with this expensive lemon of a bag.The bag had some red marks on it and they sold it to me without any price reduction because it was new stock, the store associate Ziggy noted that on my receipt. Anyway I have complained to the BBB and still no response.

As a TJ Maxx customer service coordinator, this complaint is ridiculous. While I empathize with your personal problems, they do not change our return policy of 30 days with no used/worn merchandise accepted. Our job is not to make the return policy accommodating to customers - it's to uphold it as is, with rare exceptions. But these exceptions will never include accepting a used $300 purse that is a year old, and for you to complain is wildly laughable.

I work for the TJX companies. The reason why they offered that price is because in order to do a return without the original price tag, we have to do an item lookup search on a ticket we make off of the receipt. We can only do the lowest selling point if it's without a receipt or if the item is damaged and you've had it for a long while. Because we don't know if you are switching the bag or damaged it and hoped to make your bucks back. You tried to return something more than 2 years late and it was damaged -- they can't do anything for you because they don't know if you switched the bag with another product. Also, you used it. TJ Maxx isn't a buy, wear, return store. It's a buy, wear, keep store.

You know, If you buy a car with a 5 year warranty but never drive it for 6 years... THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY.
You had the bag for over a year, wanted them to do something about a return AND now you are complaining almost 2.5 years later.

T.J. Maxx lack of changing table

I loved to shop at TJ Maxx before and during my pregnancy, now, however I was forced to leave TJ Maxx in a hurry without making a purchase as when I made my way towards the bathroom, I discovered to my dismay that there is no changing table. I checked every booth just in case because I couldnt believe my eyes. I am very disappointed and unless there is a changing table installed, I will be forced to shop elsewhere. It's surprising to me that such a basic thing is in every wallmart which I don't consider a child friendly place, while mothers who care about fashion seem to have a preference for TJ Max, yet they cannot do a simple diaper change in a friendly environment.

Most tj maxx bathrooms were originally designed for employees only. The company also doesn't want the liability of a change table-If a baby were to roll off or anything like that.

Just ran into this myself. Apparently none of their stores have them. Ridiculous to me...seems they would lose more than the $200 it would cost them to have one by moms having to leave without purchase or cutting their visit short. In my case, I will choose to not shop there so there's more than $200 and i'm only 1 person.

T.J. Maxx account closed due to typographical error

I was recently approved for this credit card, and right away set up online bill payments to pay off my balance in two payments after getting the card. When I entered my bank account information into their web site, I left off a number accidentally from the account number, so when the first payment tried to process it was rejected. I was notified via e-mail and I immediately went in, corrected the account number, and made the payment again. However, to my surprise, the second payment was rejected the next month for the same reason, even though I had corrected the issue already. I went back into the system to correct it again and paid off my card, only to find out that my account had been closed! Even worse, when I called customer service, they told me that I would have to apply for the card again in order for it to be reinstated! Unbelievable... a simple typo, with no late payments and my card is paid off, but they shut down my account which makes my credit look bad and won't help me reopen it after their system didn't retain my bank account corrections from the first time. I am extremely unhappy with this company and their customer service.

I had basically the same thing happen with a direct deposit not reaching the bank account causing nsf payment... however each payment was paid when the error was found. I too was shocked that they closed the account due to nsf even though the payments were made and received before late. I get exactly what you are saying.

T.J. Maxx horrific customer service

44 billion dollar company craps all over the masses>>>>

terrible customer service! when chase bank managed this card, i had no problems.

it’s very obvious that the tjx companies, located in framingham, ma, was looking to save a buck by switching to ge retail bank.

ge retail bank routes all it’s calls overseas where we all get to speak to people who are likely to misunderstand us when we speak or even worse, disconnect us when they cannot help us.

the automated system is atrocious. you have to suffer through at least 4 minutes of robotic requests and useless information before you are allowed the privilege of being put on hold. also, at this critical juncture, you just might be disconnected and have to start all over! by the time you reach a person, who is likely to be speaking broken english, your brain is ready to explode.

further, even with stellar credit, you get the same exorbitant rate as those with poor credit.

additionally, tjx rewards preys upon those with poor credit, and through their faulty system of poor customer service and endless technical malfunctions on their website's payment system, you will end up with even worse credit scores!

to top it all off, there is no one in america to help you resolve your issues. you will simply get people from overseas, speaking as if they are reading from a script and saying the same irrelevant things over and over...your issue will never be resolved. pay off your balance and cancel this card pronto.

why aren’t we all complaining to tjx companies in framingham, ma? these are the people who decide who will be servicing it’s loyal customers! we shop at their stores and allow these elite executives a very luxurious lifestyle, and yet when we want to handle our affairs, managing very small sums of money, we are put through hell. it’s not fair.

also, as of june 2012, these executives have been dumping their stocks….the ceo, carol meyrowitz, just sold 5.3 million in stocks…well, isn’t she the lucky one...nice to be carol, huh?

T.J. Maxx customers

I work at a TJ Maxx in Brooklyn (Little Persia) as I call it. It is absolutely insane the amount of Arab families who have moved into Brooklyn. The girls are an absolute dream while the boys are loud, unruly and deserve hard smacks across the face. I find it ludicrous that someone waiting on line with three people think it's long and complain that they have been on line for a half-hour. I find Jewish customers, travel into the store like a pack of wolves, to be rude and aggressive, same with their daughters and constantly looking for discounts on something that shouldn't get a discount anyway. Why buy something if it is broken or needs a discount? Being a person who doesn't care for kids, I tend to cringe when the little one grabs something or starts screaming at the top of their lungs because they didn't get something. Thank God I only deal with the brats at work!

Wow. Why is such a huge bigot, like you, working with customers? Don't you have a bridge somewhere that needs tending?

T.J. Maxx customer service

I was treated as a customer VERY POORLY! I close my account because of that the representative the are representing TJ Maxx Reward/ GECRB are not professional at All. I was delinquents in two payment did not have a job but no matter what i got the money but i sent it a day or two late. One of the rep that works in the TJ Maxx Credit Card Department call my house and spoke to my husband about my account if I did not pay i will be getting a collection on my account. And she was arguing with my husband about my account it went so far that me and my husband got into a big argument on this. Was that necessary NO if the account is under my name why is my husband involve in this. Still today i call customer service and Rob one of the representative for TJ Maxx Reward i ask him if there was a complaint office and he told me NO. If i need to complaint i should tell him and he would put it in his computer database. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS! THERE IS NO COMPLAINT OFFICE OR A ONLINE COMPALINT DATA BASE. I think this should be check something is wrong on how they are treating customer over the phone.

I too just opened a TJX Rewards platinum MasterCard and when the card came it had my last name as my first name and my middle name as my first name. It also had an address at a house we lived in 5 years ago! THIS IS NOT HOW I SIGNED MY APPLICATION! I DO NOT USE BUT THE MIDDLE INITIAL IN MY SIGNATURE WITH MY RIGHT FIRST AND LAST NAME! I should know my own signature! Also why would I use a address we lived at 5 years ago? I signed up with my current address! When I called to fix it they told me I had to petition with a letter to get my name changed! Why should I spend money on a stamp and my time writing a letter for their MISTAKE? If they clearly looked at the application it had the right information! They should fix their mistake not me! If this is not resolved I will never use a TJX Rewards Platinum MasterCard again! And I will tell everyone I know how poorly they did not handle the situation to get my name and address changed to what I signed the application with! I also can not believe that THERE IS NO COMPLAINT OFFICE OR A ONLINE COMPALINT DATA BASE!
