Timeshares By Owner - ripoff - scam

If you do not feel like reading this whole letter, please at least read this:
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH TIME SHARES BY OWNER!
I am a very honest person and have nothing to gain by writing this letter. I have already been ripped off and I do not want anyone else to be harmed or lose their hard earned money.
Please take my words as the absolute truth. . I have already contacted the Florida BBB, Consumer Affairs and The Division of Time Shares. I have also contacted half a dozen local news stations.

Do not let these “Marketing specialist” call you and sell you on the fact they can rent/sell your timeshare! They will say whatever they have to take your hard earned $.
Let me start by saying these thieves said it would cost me $998.99 to sign with them. I told them I do not have this kind of $ and can barely put food on the table.
Lorraine Gonzalez then offered to lower the price to $699. She told me that my rental is rare and there isn’t that many out there. Her associate Dave Allen also stated that they want my timeshare because it’s a hot item for the Super bowl. After doing all my research, calling multiple organizations to make sure Time Share by Owners is a real business; I still could not afford $700.
Lorraine continued to sell me and use Phrases like:
“Your rental is prime”, “You have touched my heart”, “We have a radio show”, and “We have a Time Share magazine”. “We did $1 million dollars in business last week”
“We are a legit company, were across Downtown Disney”
I will admit to you, I was sold. My wife and I are financially hurting and we needed help to with our time share maintenance fees.
I told them that we have a $400 credit card limit and we are calling capital one to get an increase so we could cover the $700 fee to allow Time share by owners help us.
Of course Lorraine called me back immediately and said she will take the $400. She stated that “I am a Platinum Customer”.
She started out my rental at $3, 000 a week. I started getting views on my timeshare (DO NOT BE SOLD BY THIS, YOU YOURSELF CAN GO ON THEIR SITE AND CLICK ON A POSTING, AND IT WILL EMAIL THE OWNER).
1, week, 2 weeks go by, the views slowed down. NO OFFERS! I have been scammed! They took my $ and never worked for me again.
I called anyone I could get a hold of at Time Share by Owner and only a Brandi Peet called me back or returned my emails.
She was nice, but she could not explain anything about sales or marketing. She kept repeating the administrative process over and over again. Her Supervisor Kevin White continues to blame me(the customer) that I signed the contract and that it’s my own doing why they haven’t done their jobs. I asked what the lies told to me leading up to me signing the contract and he had no reply. HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES!

I explained to them, that everything the sales people told me over the phone was a lie and she had no idea why they told me those things:
For example, why they listed my time for $3, 000 when other timeshare for the same resort were going for $650
For example, this so called Radio Show they have only promotes properties under $1, 000(so why did Lorraine tell me she’s going to try and get my rental on the show?)
For example, why did they tell me my time share is a “Hot ticket item for the Super Bowl” and they only have a few in their catalog, but I clearly see 65 listings on their website!

This business steals your $, lie to you, never return phone calls and are absolute crooks.
I have tried to reach 2 managers and no return phone calls what so ever.
Do not be sold by these jerks. Take everything they say with caution. They simply sign you up and put your timeshare on the shelf. They will constantly say “We are working hard for you and will continue to work hard for you”, don’t but the hype.
They do not care about people. They do not care how loud you cry. THEY DON’T CARE!

In this economy, money is tight, I had to max out a small credit card to sign up, and now I am screwed out my credit card bill and maintenance fees.
Don’t be foolish like I was. If you see [protected] phone #, just hang up! Do not waste your time! I am in the process of taking legal action, which is how far I have to go to deal with this business

Time Share by owners is a chop shop of greedy, crooked individuals who only care about taking your $.

Thanks for the heads-up! after all he complaints i've read about this company, you don't need to be a genius to know this is a scam. The have absolutely no shame, they just want to take people's money and get away with it. You might want to read this article about fraudulent timeshare rentals:

Timeshares By Owner - promise of offer in hand

FACT: 10/16/08 paid $598.00 of $1, 190 to list a Wyndham timeshare for rent. Fact: No offers. One call from timeshares by owner to reduce price. I reduced price. No offers, no calls.
FACT: 3/23/10 - Timeshares by Owner calls and states that "they have an offer" including an agreed upon price. They then say it takes up to 4 weeks for verification of title and that the title company will be in contact. At that time, the title company is the one that can (has to) provide the buyer information. COST -- $798 new and in addition to the "life time" fee already paid since this is now under the "new corporate travel program". Seller (me) expressed concern over the up front fee and the endless timeshare selling scams. The agent tells you that he/she is not in it for the fee but the commission for the sale.
The agent tells you he/she will call every week and along each step of the way. The "offer" is there and the title company just has to do their end of the work to finish the sale.
FACT - 5/18/10 - Only one call since 3/23//10. A voice mail from the agent the he/she would be out of the office for while with a date of return. Other than that, I called once within the first seven days to express concern that the so called paperwork that would settle my concerns was exactly the same paper work as before (10/16/08) with exception to a sale price instead of rental price. NO OFFER. AND the classic clause "...TSBO does not have a specific buyer/renter at the present time." in the "additional terms and conditions."
I tried them. I can afford the extra $798 to see if a human being could truly choose to make a living with such scams. YOU NED TO KNOW THAT YES. YES there are plenty of people out there who will scam you!

I have been in the lifetime rental program with Timeshares By Owner for almost 3 years now. It started off a little slow, I ended up joining during Christmas and it seemed like a slow time. But after a 2 month period I started receiving offers on my Worldmark credits. I have continuously received offers since then. I didnt accept every offer that came, mainly because they were not at my price level, but have gotten a couple offers that have definitely helped me in my times of need. I hope everyone knows that not all timeshare resale companies are a scam. Timeshares By Owner has been helping my wife and I rent our timeshare for at least 2 years so far and I plan on continuing their services throughout the next few years until we decide to get rid of this. I was told that they will put my unit up for sale at no additional fees either.

Timeshares By Owner - misrepresentation

Timeshare by Owners sought me in selling my timeshare. I did not contact them. The salesperson for Timeshare by Owners stated that there was a 96% sales of timeshares within 90 days of listing the property. The ad that represented my property was inaccurate for the property, selling prices. I have not received any offers through Timeshares by Owners in 10 months.
I have requested refund since their inability to market my property in a 10 month period of time. There inability to communicate with me concerning the progress of the sale. The description of the property location was wrong, selling price was not authorized by myself. Timeshares by Owners failed to understand my needs in this matter. All they wanted was my advertising fee and did not communicate any thing to me concerning my sale of my property.
When I contacted Timeshares by Owners they had the wrong salesperson whom I had intially made contact with.
Seller, Buyer or if you want to Rent a timeshare beware this company intentions are not the best. BEWARE...

We were called in December 2020 to purchase our timeshare. Received an email requesting money in which we gave them for the advertising. We received an email from Jeremiah Harris stating he would recirculate the ad. At that time we said no more money. Then we were told we had to pay upfront the closing costs. Then they would have the buyer to pay those fees and those funds would be returned. I talked to a Robert Price I really didn’t like his pressure he was putting on us. Then we heard from Jim Colson the Executive Coordinator he requested more money we didn’t want to rent the points we wanted to sell. No one has called or emailed since 11-10-2021. I feel we have been scammed if this doesn’t help with our situation future steps will be needed. Janice Riddle

Timeshares By Owner - bad or no service

Timeshares by owner contacted us by phone a few years back saying they could sell our timeshares. Like the suckers most of us are we agreed, but only after I tried to get them to sell my timeshare first, then let them take their fees fron the sale price of my timeshare. Needless to say that did not work. They got our money, telling us they had lots of people lined up to by our timeshare, and would have it sold in a few weeks. Well here we are 2 years later and the only contacts we have had with them is when we call them repeteadly to talk. They never have called me to say my timeshare is sold. DO NOT USE TIMESHARESBYOWNER for selling your timeshare. Only if you like throwing money away.

I was hook line and sinker to two timeshare places: my thinking was get it from all angles and it WILL sell !
Sell My Timeshare Now and Buy A Timeshare took a whopping $700 a piece from me- with all the bells and whistles that they could sell my property in the matter of weeks: here I sit a year and a half later (Mar2010) and still no sale. I tried several times to contact my sales person- he was always busy- or had the day off or were no longer part of my sale... typical: take my money and disappear
I now have TimeShare by Owner up my behind with all the same hoopla as the other two-
I have already tried to offer to pay the $700 AFTER they sell it- like an incentive for them to get off their butts and SELL! but that didnt work. I tried to suggest 1/2 now and 1/2 after if sells- and again, that didnt work. My argument was that in real estate- you dont pay till it sells- if the agent wants to put food on the table and pay their bills- then they will FIND a buyer. The same should apply to timeshare!
I think the best thing is to just try to sell it myself !

Well guess what the same thing happened to us too. Something needs to be done with this outfit. Don't know what but it makes a person sick to even think that someone can do this sort of stuff and feel good about themselves. But then again look at our economy right now. But, again that is no excuse either. Don't know what we can do about this.

You took the words right out of my mouth - the exact same thing happened to us. Only we were really suckers and paid them to sell 2 of our timeshares. I wish I had checked the internet before throwing my money away!

Timeshares By Owner - bad service

Timeshares By Owner contacted us a year and a half ago. We were assured that our timeshare located in Scottsdale AZ would sell in a matter of months. We started our property out at $12000 dollars on their recommendation. We have since dropped our price to $999. No calls yet! We have however received multiple calls from Timeshares By Owner offering to advertise more or sell our property auction style for $800 more. WAIT! I already paid them $450 to advertise this property and they can't even do that. Why would I give them more money?!

DO NOT USE TIMESHARE RESELL COMPANIES OR ADVERTISING COMPANIES. WE HAVE BEEN TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF TWICE NOW BY TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES. JUST SAY NO!

I called in Jan or Feb of 2023. They stated we have a buyer. Nothing has happen yet. They called again in Aug 2023. Congratulations we have buyers. All we need is more money for sale advertisement. My husband so happy to get out of the timeshare sent the money. Heard nothing. Call for update on the sale. Oh, we need more money for advertisement.

I've been contacted several times and each time they ask for money up front by means of credit card, each time I refused. Today I received a call from them and the sales woman said her name was Amanda Askins, she proceeded to entice me with the possibility of making 2500./wk for a couple of my weeks, but again she wanted assurances that i would pay the one time fee of 499.00 for them to rent my weeks and if I had more units later they would be added at no additional cost. I laughed and told her no I would not give my card information over the phone without any guarantee that I would not receive money from the rental. She began to pour on the pressure and I hung up on her. To my surprise seconds later she called back and asked if I wanted to make money or not, I told her that I wasn't looking to lose money with empty promises and hung up again. Beware of the scam artist they are relentless!

I am so glad that I found out this information before I acted. I was leery about having to pay before any results so I decide to look Timeshares by Owner up on the internet. I thought it was a scam.

Hi Everybody
I saw your message on the complaints board regarding the company Time Shares By Owner, and specifically the name Joshua Schmidt. I believe this is the same man who is living at a rental property of mine.

I started looking the name up and doing internet research after he started defaulted on his rental payments. At the moment he has pulled every trick in the book to avoid payment, accusing me of providing him with inadequate accommodation, he is also making up false repairs which he wants to charge me for, he tried to pass me a bill for repairs when in fact when we checked the breakdown it was a set of tools for his personal use, nothing to do with the allege repair.

When we confronted him with the tool invoices and requested that he adhered to the rental agreement, which stipulates any repairs need to be approved and carried out by a qualified tradesman he became rude, abusive and threatened me that I will have to take him to court in order to evict him and that he will make me spend as much/ as possible in the eviction. it turned out that the invoice he presented was fake, now he accuses me of creating the invoice myself to try to incriminate him! this man is a 100% certified scu^bag of the worst kind.

I have done some more research on him and the companies he purports to currently own, a web design company and a plastic surgery clinic are fake. He lives a life of luxury, living in a luxury rental accommodation currently free at my expense, drives a brand new Range Rover SUV worth $100, 000 etc etc.

Feel free to contact me for more details. photojournal@yahoo.com

The most recent episode with this company: The rep became impatient with me after I told him firmly several times that I was not putting another penny into this company. He said, "If you want this TS sold we're going to do it under MY terms, not yours."

Really? Um-bye!

This company also contacted me numerous times and I finally called them back. After telling the salesperson that I was not interested in paying an upfront fee, he told me he would give me his supervisor. I listened to the supervisor for about 20 minutes and he answered quite a few questions. I was almost prepared to go ahead with it after I said to him I wanted to see a copy of the contract and check out the company on line first. This is when the 'supervisor - Chris Maggi' came up with the problems of why it would be difficult for me to re-contact them after an 'hour' - because I wanted to check out their company (a normal consumer precaution). He wanted my credit card number now and of course they would not charge me until I signed the papers. I saw no need to give a card number until my decision was firm. At that time, he tried putting a lot of pressure on me. I again told him I would not give any card number, but if he called back in an hour after I read the contract, checked BBB and on-line reviews, then I could finish a deal. He became belligerent, basically saying I did not understand his process, saying I couldn't find anyone else to help me sell it anyway, and in the end he said, "We don't need your business at Timeshares By Owners. Call me back only if your serious." Well he had me 90% sold until his disrespectful attitude and that's when I started seriously looking for reviews. This supervisor needs customer relation skills updates and the company should expect that intelligent consumers will want to check out their company. Buyer beware!

I'm suppose to be getting a call from Nic Nagley this morning. He called me a week ago and said I HAD to get back to him that day because he had someone waiting to buy my TS. We played phone tag all week and when we talked on Friday, he told me that my TS situation was such a "mess" and he was the only one from the company that was assigned to these kinds of tough sells. I told him he had only 10 minutes with me on the phone because I was expecting company, but he wasted that time telling me some sob story about him recovering from a very rare disease and that's why he didn't get back to me sooner. He wanted $3, 999.00 to bump my advertising into corporate status and said Wyndham resorts would buy it and it was risk free cuz he could rent out 3 weeks for $1, 500 a week and I could cancel in 10 days if that didn't happen, but I had to decide by 6:00 p.m. that night.
When my guests arrived I told him I had to go so he said he would call back at 6:30 (hmmm...30 minutes after the deadline he just gave me?) When he called back, I was unable to take the call so he left a message that the deadline was extended to today, 9-2, because there was a gas leak in their building and they all had to evacuate. (how convenient) So, if he calls today, and I'm unable to return his call, I wonder what lie he will use to extend the offer again...? I have been scammed before, and have more money invested in this TS than what it's worth. When Nic calls, the number comes up under the name Wayne Levy, which is the person who got $2, 084 from me from a company called Resort Realty Group (RRG). When I asked Nic about it, he said, "oh, that's because I took over Wayne's job". So do all these companies live under the same rock? (I mean, roof?) After reading the reviews
I think the small handful of satisfied customers were paid out with the millions of $$s that the rest of us contributed by being scammed. Over the weekend, I did some research and I will be ready for Mr. Nagley if he calls today...if indeed that is his real name.

i gave in and decided to give them a try, they said they had ppl waiting to purchase these types of timeshare that i own. well i paid a 399.00 fee (stupid me) and its been 2mos. now and i have had no offfers. i called the rep after 1mo.to complain and he said it takes up to 3mos. to get bids. if it was in such high demand it would not take this long. i am going to try to get my money refunded as i've only made 3($50.00) credit card payments so far. I amm not satisisfied with this type of bussiness at all.I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but i don't think so.

I saw these negative comments and almost didn't do business with them. I was thinking it may be other companies doing it being they have such a good track record been in business 16 years and won awards so I went with my gut feeling and did it. 4 months later I am timeshare free! I promised to write a good review sonic nobody wants to go write good stuff when it happens!~so happy!

The service is horrible and had all the same complaints as stated before. The fact that they cannot return a call for any reason is beyond poor business and they need to be investigated. I had an individual from the same company asking for more money as well and when I explained you cannot do what you said within a year, they went on the defensive and stopped taking my call
