Thorntons insensitive employees

To whom it may concern:

I am composing this email in regards to the mistreatment of my child while visiting your establishment by one of your employees on
Monday November 4th, 2019 located @ 2330 W. 127th Blue Island, Illinois 60406.

I was unaware my daughter picked up a Toy Story candy item at his point she was accused of stealing, while I was paying for my cup of coffee by one of your employees who identified herself as the store manager.

Out of my peripheral vision, I observed as well as overheard your employee make condescending and derogatory statements to and about my 4 year old disabled daughter. Saying the following "No, no little girl don't put that in your pocket."

As I turned completely around I witnessed her snatching the toy from my daughter's hand placing the item back in its proper area. From that point your employee went on to make more derogatory statements saying that every time my daughter and I come into your establishment "We're always stealing and that we're going to be banned from your establishment." At this point I was outraged and immediately went into Mother Bear Mode, before I could complete my purchase your employee threatened me by making the remarks "Meet me outside."

After that she and another one of your employees with orange hair proceeded out the doors of your establishment where a verbal confrontation ensued. This upset my 4 year old daughter who has autism who was screaming and waving her hands trying to protect me.

I felt as if my child's safety as well as mine was threatened, my 4 year old old autistic daughter was instantly labeled a thief as opposed to a innocent child. This is the worse case of defamation of character I've ever witnessed by far.

Concluding, your employees should always use discretion when dealing with children. I am informing you that I would be contacting the following organizations in regards to this matter; The American Disability Association, The NAACP, Operation P.U.S.H, The National Action Network, as well as my attorney.

Thorntons cashier/customer service

I usually stop at this Thorntons every weekday to get a drink, and I will sometimes get a breakfast item or two. I usually get there between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM. According to my receipt from today (11/03/19), I have 680 qualifying visits. There is this one African-American cashier that usually works in the morning when I get there. I do not know her name, but she was there again this morning. Every morning I walk in the store, I say "good morning, " and she just looks at me. However, the very next person in the door behind me, she greets with a smile. This has been going on for a couple of months now. This morning (11/03/19), I said "good morning, " and she just looked at me and then looked at her co-worker with a "See what I mean" kind of look. She then laughed for a couple of seconds. This was the last straw for me. I will not be back to any Thorntons ever again. Someone else can have my daily business.

Thorntons parre cashier

Verbally aggressive cashier who threatened me with physical violence after lying to the manager about what my transaction was. First she refused service because I called her out for not checking id to a credit card, then she refused to give me her name or number to corporate. She was on register two 10/20/19 @ 0750am. My friend went in to get cigarettes she wouldn't sell to him because he didn't have Id fine, I went in to pay for the gas because he forgot to get that and she started in with I'm not selling you these cigarettes. I pointed out she didn't even Id for the card, they never do up there. I stated I wanted 15 on pump 2 she stated she wasn't going to sell me that. I then demanded a manager and she told me to go find him he was outside. I told her I wanted her name and corporates number she said go get it off the door. When the manager walked back in I saw him and went back into the store to get corporates number and her name. She was lying about what I had asked for because I never asked for the cigarettes, only the gas. It is all on camera. She kept saying things like you better check yourself before I check you, told me her shirt could come off at which time I said bring it because if you touch me I will lay you out then file assault charges. She started to walk around the counter again on camera, her manager stopped her. He rang me up, gave me corporate number and the general managers name which is Shawn. I will be calling him in the morning. I am throughly disappointed in her behavior and would expect you would not continue to employee someone who is going to make physical threats to your customers. I am a nurse and had just got done working 13 hours for the state of Indiana's hospital caring for psychiatric patients and the way she behaved was much like one of my patients. She is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off if she's willing to start coming around a counter after a guest because she got called out for doing wrong to begin with. My point in doing that was if she's gonna sit there and accuse me of trying to buy cigarettes for someone who clearly looks over the age of 35 then she needs to be doing her job completely correctly and not pick and choose. My house is literally right up the street and I spend well over $200 in this store on my own not to mention the $150 plus dollars a week my sister spends. It may not break this store but they have now lost all of that as we will not be going back to this store so long as she is employed there. That is approximately 17, 800 per year your store just lost because of this woman. In all likelihood that is very close to what she brings home each year. Depending on what her pay rate is you are still loosing because of her actions very close to what it costs to pay her knowing that the going pay scale ranges from 8.50-10.75 per hour. That might be something you want to think about before continuing to employee someone who is volatile in there behavior and could chase off more paying customers. And before she says that this was a race thing as she isn't the same race as me let me let it be known that I am a firm advocate for all peoples rights to be treated equally. Age, sex, race, religion, sexual persuasion do not matter to me. What matters to me is treating individuals with human civility instead of jumping their case when they come back in a store to purchase gas. I did get an attitude back because I will not be disrespected when I did not disrespect her to begin with. She had an assumption, I respected her right to not sell the cigarettes, I do believe however that if a person is going to follow rules they should follow all rules and not make exceptions out of laziness. I fully expect a complete investigation into her actions because she could have very easily escalated to physical violence. That is not someone who should be in customer service.
I expect a phone call back and I will also be calling the gm in the morning to expedite this. My name is Gabrielle Lindeman my phone number is [protected] and my email is [protected]@gmail.com. I would greatly appreciate your company helping to keep our gas stations safe and free from people who think violence is the answer when they are wrong and it's pointed out to them. Also why would you want a liar working for you? Someone who can't own up to their own actions and makes up things about customers is not someone you should desire handling your money.

Thorntons customer service & lottery

On September 27th, at around 1:15am my boyfriend and I had entered and Thornton's on stewarts ferry Pike in Nashville Tennessee for the second time during the evening. During this visit there was another cashier that came on shift as well as the young lady who I had rang out with on our first visit to the convenience store tonight. One of the purchases I made was $60 worth of lottery tickets. I bought 2- $20.00 Millionaire jumbo bucks, 5- $3.00 lady Jumbo's and 1- $5.00. I ended up with $68 total in winnings. So on the second visit whenever I came in to cash them out the lady of which would not give me her name but she had red hair, African American, add an attitude the size of Texas acted like it was an issue to ring my tickets in come to find out I guess it was after the time they were allowed to bring them in either way that is not my fault I do not know at what time that stores stops cashing in winning lottery tickets number one, number two two of my winning tickets totaling $23 we're bringing up invalid and the girl who sold them to me was standing right there and try to tell the other woman that I most definitely bought them at this store and the lady so that that was not her problem and that I needed to take it up with the lottery commission. Be that as it may which is absolutely absurd and I've never had to do such a thing, the altitude at which she came at me was extremely rude and uncalled for and it's happened on multiple occasions. I can honestly say I've never actually had a pleasant encounter with this cashier. I hate to be the one to say this cuz I don't like complaining and especially when it comes to someone's livelihood, but the way she made me feel like I had done something wrong when all I was wanting to do with cash in my lottery tickets! if she would have just said it was too late then that wouldn't have been an issue at all whatsoever it would have been a done deal and I would have waited till the next day! So she cashed in $45 worth of my winnings and the other two that I am supposedly supposed to take up with the lottery commission she shot back across the counter to me. I will be sure and take this the lottery commission as I have pictures of the tickets themselves, the address of which store they were bought, and I know which employee sold them to me as she was also trying to tell the other cashier that was being rude that I did buy them there and that they should probably check the role to make sure that they were scanned in. I have put up with her time and time again but tonight was the last straw. I'm not sure as to why these two tickets ring up invalid, but I did buy them at that Thortons and they were winners fair and square! I am hoping that I can at least resolve this issue in the morning, but as for that cashier I don't want to be the cause of anybody getting in trouble like I stated previously but she is obviously extremely unhappy and her job title or in her job in general. She really needs to learn how to deal with the general public and her problem solving skills are completely non-existent and in a position like that, is uncalled for. it would be a completely different story had I given her a reason to be rude and dismissive towards
me, but I did not. Unfortunately, she is like this every single time. It has to change. belittling customers are making them feel less than is absolutely uncalled for in any line of work but especially whenever you depend on them for everyone involved to make a living!

Thorntons customer service

I go into this Thorntons every day 2 buy three Monster Energy drinks and gas. By the end of every week I empty the cooler of monster meanwhile there are cases piled in the back in the cooler but not stocked on the Shelf. So there has been two occasions I have went to the back to get the monster myself. Not thinking it would be a big deal because the beer cooler is open to the public as well. But then today I go in there get my monster I go to the counter, next thing I know the manager lady is looking at me saying excuse me I need to talk to you sir and she drags me off to the side then she continues to start cussing at me saying stay the f*** out of my cooler and you're lucky I don't ban you. I tried to explain to her nicely that I'm just trying to get a couple monsters to get my day started and if she would stock her shelves daily I wouldn't have to walk in there and get them. She continues to rant and Rave and cuss at me being adamant to never be in her cooler ever again. I told her no problem and walked away but there is no reason she should be talking to a customer like that especially a repeat good customer that spends a lot of money in there every day. To be yelled at and cussed at like a child is very unprofessional and uncalled for

Thorntons racially profiling and calling a person a drug attic

Racially profiling and calling a person a drug attic the worker last night messed up big time n put the wrong amount on the pump when she found out the mistake she did it was already to late n we were gone back in our home town Hanover Park which is like 30 minutes away so she call the police they threatened the driver with jail time so she came back up to that Same gas station around 12 or 1 in the am because they only gave her to 3 before she get a warrant for her arrest so she and the other person that was with her came back up there when the did they got accused of stealing gas and the cashier said if you weren't high you would know what your doing being high had nothing to do with it bc she came in the gas station with sold cash and told the cashier to put 8 dollars on pump 18 then all this gas station to came even more her car was on E still far away from her house she saw this as a blessing from god but in the end she wasn't trying to steal the gas so she should have been treated the way she was treated

Very bad costumer service. Lisa cashier nasty to all costumers. Every time I go there Wich I really try not to workers are very mean they don't care about costumers at all.

Thorntons Employee behaviors

Female employee (name is Emily or Emma something like that) with red hair has been rude to me everytime I have been waited on by her. I come into this store every day almost and she is the only employee who I try to avoid because of her attitude and conversations she insists on having that are no where workplace appropriate. Talking about having sugar daddies and having sex and other obsecene behaviors. Thankfully my kids have not been with me to witness her lack of professionalism and respectfulness of customers.

Thorntons manager shantell

I am very disturbed by the extremely rude manner in which I was treated at your location a few minutes ago. I had stopped on my bike while out riding to purchase a drink and juul pods. I was drinking my beverage before continuing my ride when an employee claiming to be the manager named Shantell (spelling uncertain) rudely informed me that I couldn't stand outside. I had been there maybe two or three minutes standing in front of my bike and was actually in the process of throwing away the can to leave. I have no issue with a no loitering policy, but to be spoken to in such a caustic and abrupt way as a paying customer is an extremely bad reflection on your company. I will not be returning and if this is indicative of her normal behavior she is a liability to your company and the Thortons brand.

Thorntons pathetic cashier and management

I made a purchase on my debit card for $10 worth of gas normally even though they've been ratchet since I moved around here but still closest gas station so prices went down on gas so I needed some gas I've always so that they're not as professional or attentive as they should be when they doing transactions nevertheless she didn't even ask me do you have your rewards card I had to tell her can I use my rewards card by then she had already taken the $10 for the gas she tells me to take my car back out and put my car back in Sochi double charge me for $10 worth of gas she did not even tell me that this transaction was going that way if it was too late for me to use the rewards card for this particular transaction I could have used it next time why would you double charge me and not even tell me there are some really ignorant mental people in this world that are aware of what they do and just don't give a damn there is no excuse for what happened this is day three my money still hasn't been returned to my card I spoke to management they all stick together she claimed she was going to pass it on to the general manager that this ignorant cashier very inattentive very nonchalant and when I came back in 15 minutes later after this happen she had disappeared I'm sure there was no reprimanding her I'm going to wait one more day and then I'm going back to the store this is really a sad situation and everybody else is complaints on here I believe everything going through what I just went through is ridiculous how do you not look at the screen and see that you double charge me you're the one behind the cash register looking at the screen not me and then I didn't get my receipt the first time when I went back to talk to the manager she pulled a receipt and she claimed the money was sent back to my card it never takes this long for money to come back to my card we shall see the weekend will hit and then they're there will be no transactions it does not ever take this long they are ignorant ratchet and just want their paycheck how are you rude to particular customers there are some really sick people out here she didn't say hello she just said may I help you she wasn't attentive at all it's really pathetic in this world but that's the way it is people just want to work and get a paycheck they don't care about humans no more or anything she know good and well she had double charge me how do you not see that and you work there and you're looking at the damn screen I'm over it I'm never going to Thornton again this particular Thornton is on a 127th Western blue island Illinois stay busy stay ratchet because I will not be back I was waiting for something to happen because I knew this gas station was ratchet

Thorntons juanita the nasty employee

I will never ever go into this thortons again after going into it for years, I encountered the most evil, nastiest employee on the face of this Earth by the name of Juanita. I went in there to purchase some tobacco product for someone and I specifically told her what I wanted and she gave me the wrong item I looked at the item and asked her if I could go show the person who wanted it if he was okay with it she said yes when I walked back into the store I told her it was the wrong item she had given me because I read her the text message stating exactly what I wanted anyhow I only had $10 on my debit card and for her to return the item she gave me, which was the wrong item, for me to get a credit back onto my debit card would take a few days and I had exactly $10 on that card therefore I did not have enough to purchase the correct item i asked for had she been listening to me in the first place. I brought that up to her, and I told her I was not able to purchase the right item because she had given me the incorrect item well needless to say she got so ghetto and nasty with me. It escalated to a heated argument and mind you all, there were at least 20 other customers in the store with children and she still thought she was in the ghetto and thought she was mrs. Tuff badass and wanted to keep bobbing her head back and forth getting loud with me thinking that was going to scare me so I argued back with her. I was not going to shut my mouth and let this piece of crap b**** talk to me the way she was talking to me with her nasty attitude, considering the fact that she made the mistake. We were arguing for at least 10 minutes and it clearly seems like she did not care about her job or getting fired from her job because you are not supposed to engage in arguments with customers and that's exactly what she was doing with me. I'm not saying I'm innocent, she started with the nastiness and my jaw dropped because i couldnt believe how nasty she was being and how loud she was getting so in turn, I gave it right back to her. Juanita if you're reading this, you should really keep your mouth shut and stop engaging in arguments with customers because you don't know who you're going to run into. You don't deserve a job you're a piece of f****** s*** and your manager whoever was kicking back enjoying the show is a bigger piece of crap. You sold me the wrong item Juanita you're just trying to cover up because you're an idiot with an IQ of a Peapod if you can't even get the right item you stupid idiot. And you're trying to turn it on the customer saying that I wasn't sure what I wanted and blah blah blah blah blah I sure as hell i didn't tell you I wanted what you gave me. You just sit behind that desk running your big mouth getting off now be thinking people are going to be scared of you and then you want to run to the phone and call the cops because you're afraid you're going to get your [censored] kicked when someone like me gives you a run for their money. This place is garbage and I will never ever ever come here again! Thorntons lack of service

at 3:15 will into the store all three registers were close to do money drop that seems a little ridiculous when you got 7 thick line waiting there 7 customers waiting to get checked out... Wherever Miss Gretchen is she needs to know about this I work for A.G.America... their model is never leave a customer standing( THE customer comes first) always get that money. Everything else is secondary. If Gretchen wants to she can call me at [protected].

Thorntons prepay gas

Hello, name is Raymond H. McCormick. I paid prepay inside the Thornton's gas station #630 for gas for my car Grey Malibu 2006 at pump #15 in the amount of $15 along with a couple of other things. My bill came to $17.10 altogether on my receipts. When I went to tell them my tank is full at $13.83, they said the rest will go back on the card I use to pay for the gas. So, $1.17 is going go back on my card I used to pay for the gas right? If I don't how do I get my $1.17 refunded to me?

Thorntons employees harassing customers

In August 1st, 2019 around 10 pm I parked between 2 vehicles in front of the gas station. It was dark out and I did not notice I had pulled in forward into a non parking zone. My friend gets out of the vehicle and walks into the store while I remain in the vehicle. Not even 60 seconds later I see a Caucasian male employee of this gas station with lengthy dirty blonde hair approximately to his shoulders come out of the store and quickly approach my vehicle. The look on his face was a little intimidating so I let my window down just a bit and said "Hi." He then immediately told me that I needed to move my car, I could not park there, only the handicap could be there, and before I could even register and respond to his approach, he stated to me that he doesn't care what I have to say and I need to move now. I was so shocked and confused at his instant hostility and anger that it took me a second to realize what was going on and I said to him "I didn't realize I couldn't park here, but it's fine. I'll move." He stood next to my car to make sure that I moved. Before I could let other passing vehicles clear the way behind me and put car in reverse so that I could move he yells "Move now!". I stopped and said "Relax you haven't even given me a chance to move. I don't have a problem moving." He walks away and goes back into the store where customers had been waiting in line. In the midst of this the vehicle to my right was leaving so I waited for that vehicle to back out of the park spot so that I could move my vehicle into the spot. Again, there are passing vehicles and a vehicle parked to my left and my right. Before I could wait for this vehicle to my right to finish backing out of the spot next to me. A Caucasian female employee with a tattoo on her neck approached my vehicle with the same approach as the male, not even 30 seconds later. I said "Ma'am I know I need to move I'm waiting for passing vehicles and the lady next to me to leave so that I can move over. She says "Well he just told me to come out here and make sure that you move." She is saying this as my car is in reverse waiting for the proper clearance to move over. Which means she knew I had every intention on moving, but they just wanted to harass me. By this time I become irritated because I was yelled at for no reason instead of being asked nicely to move, I was approached twice when the first time was enough, and I truly did not know that I was parked in a non parking zone, and I was cooperating with their requests, but they wouldn't even give me proper time and ability to do what they asked of me. I then stated that I was not comfortable and I was not happy with their hostility when I had not done anything to deserve it so I got out of my vehicle and went in the store to tell my friend that we should leave and not give them our business. When I walked in I noticed the female employee also had a line of customers as well. Both employees stopped serving their customers to come out and harass me. As I am explaining to my friend everything that had transpired while heading back out of the store the female employee makes smart comments and then the male employee started making comments as well. I then become really upset and tell them how wrong they were and how I have never experienced anything like this in my life. The treatment was unnecessary and unacceptable. The male employee then grabs the phone and calls the police and describes as "2 black girls" and he kept saying "black" throughout his phone call. He never really gave any other kind of description of us and I instantly caught on to the fact that it was my race that was his issue more than anything else. My friend and I had every intention on staying to be able to speak with the police because they were wrong, but an African American customer said to me very plainly "You two may want to leave. They don't play with black people here and the lawyers here don't play either." So we left and called the police ourselves to keep a report on file just in case anything were to happen to us. As we were leaving out the male employee followed us out of the store. I am very unhappy, I am highly offended, and I would like for something to be done immediately.

Thorntons management

On Friday morning July 19, 2019 I was in Thornton's getting my cigs on the way to work. There was a long line as usual and only one cashier! I don't mind it cause I knew it was a usual day of Michelle being by herself cause no one apparently knows how to do a schedule there! I get closer to the front of the line a d as I look over the store manager is either sleeping or passed out at the computer! Everyone in the store was talking about it and snapping pictures! How do I apply for a job like this where you sleep in the job and get paid for it? I have watched this store go down hill big time! The general manager is a cry baby Everytime you turn around she is crying about something, the store manager is a loud obnoxious unprofessional hood rat, Trey does nothing but walk around like he is lost with that ugly straw hat on! All of my favorite employees are disappearing! You never feel welcome in this store anymore you feel more like you are interrupting their social time or hang out time! Maybe I should just go to speedway! At least there their management is mature!

Thorntons store management

I have been coming into this store for a couple of years now. I have decided not to come back to this store due to the management! I was in the store this morning and the cashier was alone! The store manager finally gets there completely trashed at around 7:30 am! I come back at around 9 to refill my coffee and the store manager was passed out at the computer. The cashier was still all alone with a line from hell! I watched both the guys disappear, got used to the dark hair store manager and she disappeared also! Now all I see in this store is good rats who look like they just graduated head start! The store is always a mess! Something needs to be done with this store before all the customers never come back! Bring back the guys or the dark hair lady! At least all three of them would speak and kept the store cleaned and in stock! The general manager is very rude and disrespectful, the store manager is ghetto, and who is the guy that wears the hat all the time? He loves arguing with us customers and following is out the door to get in the last word. What happened to customer service? Is this how Thornton's is run now since the buy out?

Thorntons unethical behaviour

7/11/19, I was shopping at Thornton's this morning when i heard a person yelling i looked over and the General Manager was yelling at an employee, calling an employee a baby and being very rude, then the manager told her they need to the back, after they went in the back the manager was yelling so loud you could still hear him in the store, it was very unprofessional. I am a manager at a production plant for medical devices and would never in my life talk to any of my employees the way this manager was handling his.
I think this manager needs more training on how to deal with employees/ situations, i never once seen this employee talk back, the employee was listening to every word and the manager goes as far to call his employee a baby because she got upset and started crying, which i do not blame her with the way this guy was yelling at her.
If this is the way managers of Thornton's handle their employees it makes me wonder how they would handle a costumer with a problem, this makes me not want to go back to a Thornton's hearing how he was yelling at her.
I did not catch names but i was able to see on his shirt it said General manager.

Is the Gas Station I go to All the time when visiting my parents. There was NO Reason for the Cashier Alex to write down my License Plate # as well as Not Authorize the pump & have his friends hanging out in the store harassing customers by Laughing & Staring at the customers! Ridiculous, haven't felt so unwelcomed as a Customer in a very long time. I will NEVER GO BACK TO USE MY MONEY @ THORNTONS EVER AGAIN! Thorntons just lost a long time Customer! I will also be referring others to go to other Gas Stations! Get your staff together and Retrain them for Customer Service before you Lose more Customers!

Thorntons gas service

When pulled up to the pump I had hit the pay inside option because paying with cash and not know how much it would take to fill up that's when a lady cashier came out and started taking pictures of me and my car when I went I asked why and they tell this because some one had drive off a few days before... Me had being a regular customer but this being my last business with Thorntons do to the humiliation and imberisment of someone else's negligence..

Thorntons the whole store

I'm a now-former employee, and I have plenty to say about this particular store. Anyone patronizing this store be very careful... Look at your bank app or whatever, as surprise charges will pop up (particularly if you shop there in the evening hours... Up till 10 pm when 2nd shift leaves) and a lady working first shift brags that she goes home with $100-200 daily from stealing from the customers (mainly hispanics... She laughs about it) i'm appalled that this behavior is basically condoned by management. I cannot associate with a company such as this. It's an easy enough job, but apparently it's also an easy way to bring home cash daily. (the pay is weekly, so i'm not really sure why they feel the need to steal, but I also don't have the mentality of a criminal) and the laziness of staff is absolutely inexcusable... But look at the people working there. I will never go to this particular store whatsoever. You're forewarned.

Thorntons service

I've been having problems with the Female manager at this location.
She refuses to help solve problems and is very rude to customers!
She needs to be demoted, since she is not capable of handling problems!
My only other option is to take my business elsewhere, like WAWA across
the street... is that what you want?
