The Pep Boys service

On Wednesday Oct 16, 2019, I dropped my 2014 BMW 435i off to pep boys 1685 Howell Mill Road NW, Atlanta Georgia 30318 for minor repair. While in the care of pep boys my car was hit and severally damaged. I was NOT contacted when incident happened in fact incident information was withheld from me until AFTER payment of service. I feel this was extremely deceptive, unprofessional and Iam not happy

Upon arriving to retrieve my vehicle manager Ron Stamper offered me an additional $10 discount even still before telling me that they had wrecked my vehicle. After paying for service Ron said lets walk around your vehicle which is when I was showed the damage (Iam attaching photos). My initial reaction as would be anyones reaction was to become hysterical as I did not drop my car off in this condition. Ron Stampers only reaponse was "thats why people have insurance". I was treated as if this was no big deal and at no fault of pep boys. Ron then just told me to call coporate who filed a claim and gave me claim numbers #677009 & #677045 then told me corporate would contact me within 24 to 48 hours. Today is Monday Oct 21, 2019 and no one has contacted me.

Along with the extreme body damage to my vehicle, the work that I went in for was not done properly and has caused additional damage to my car. My vehicle cut off twice (which it was not doing before I dropped it off), so the mechanic that did the work came and checked under my hood and said oh this piece is off I'll reattach it. He popped the part back on and said I should be good to go. Now with all this please keep in mind I also had a busted tail light that no one offered to cover for me (since THEY did it) to prevent me from now getting a ticket for driving with a busted tail light. So leaving the lot my check engine light comes on ( which was not doing that prior to me bringing my vehicle in). I return to pep boys and mechanic just reset the light. I leave and return to work, upon me leaving work check engine light comes on AGAIN and I return to pep boys where all mechanics had left for the day with 30 minutes left before garage actually closes.

I left my car on the property because it kept cutting off and I was unsure if it would make it home. Please note I have since had my insurance company pick up and tow my vehicle to the BMW dealership to be properly repaired.

Iam writing because not only was this situation handled badly Iam now being held responsible for a charge for work on my car that I have had to have redone properly costing me an additional $2500.00. I have not had a call from pep boys not even an apology and I feel that I should be refunded the $800 charge on my pep boys card for bad work done to my vehicle, the $2500 I paid yo have the work redone properly, compensation for being without my vehicle for now 12 days, and the now diminished value of my car caused by this store.

Due to the fact that I have had to write you this letter Iam looking for immediate resolution before proceeding with legal action.

The Pep Boys won't honor quote

Classic bait and switch! Got an online quote from "Chris" to replace brake pads and rotors. After dropping off my truck for the repairs, was called by store manager "Joe" that the quote couldn't be honored and the cost would be double. Contacted customer service - they pulled the chat and confirmed the quote amount. They said made a mistake, "leaving a few services off" which drove up the cost. The store wouldn't honor the quote - said it came from customer service, not them! They ALL work for pep boys, just pointing fingers at each other! End result - I picked up my truck still needing repairs. Never again, and I cannot stress enough the lack of integrity and accountability from this company. Stay away!

The Pep Boys oil change and tire rotation

Made online appointment on 10-13-2019 for oil change and tire rotation for 11:00am. I was there for two hours. When I came home I checked my tires. They were not rotated. I went back and asked why my tires were not rotated? It showed on my bill that they were. The man at the counter went back and asked the technician why he did not rotate my tires? The technician said he did not think it was necessary! Because I had low miles! I had 7700 miles on my truck! The man at counter offered to rotate them. I was already there for two hours with a appointment! And all they did was change my oil! I said no thank you and I left. I have been bringing my wife's Jeep and my trucks to this Pep Boys for a few years now. How Pep Boys handles this complaint will determine if I ever go back.

The Pep Boys I came in into pep boys in boca chica to get my car service, saw two associates doing inappropriate things to a girl working there

One of the associates name was jorge, and the girl name i don't know but works there, they were in the back near the restrooms, and my son saw them, so this is the behavior of pep boys associates, never saw this before, my son is 12 years old and is totally inappropriate for that I hope the store manager or whoever is in charge is aware, this is ridiculously wrong

The Pep Boys employee

Hi my name is thi nguyen, I am with flex drive I came to this location for service I was there when they open n waited almost four hours, jus to get service that I didn't get due to poor internet which they was to use to authorize my vehicle due the program ari, I asked a lady in the front desk that work there in the morning heavy set, african american lady how long more I would have to work she had a nasty attitude towards me and a few other customer that was there to get work done on their car and told me maybe few time I came to asked within the four hours she said the internet down and any way we don't have the part for the car that I would have to wait there for them to get the part from a dealer it wasn't bout the time I waited but it's how she was with me in front of suppose to be in charged manger kevin who seen all this happening I asked him so it's ok for her to speak to the customer like this he said he cnt really say nothing but report it to the person. Who's in charged but that person not there. Yet I jus want it to come in to light for this behavior with this woman attitude it's nasty should no way she should work on the front service with her being disrespectful to the customer to where they cnt take their car there and drive 8 mile some where for a better service at that kevin spoke to me and asked me to come back the next day I picked a time in the morning it was confirmed in front of that lady the man than came n chase me outside to tell me to come at a later time because I guess she didn't wanna deal with me the next morning this have to be taken care of not jus with me but i'm speakin for other people who also spoken to me about her I know for sure that it's not jus with me the picture I sent below is the pep boys I have to go to in new jersey to get my service done

The Pep Boys worst service ever

I have been buying tires for 45 yrs and these people have no idea what they r doing I saw the set of tires I wanted on there web sight and went straight down to the loc. pepboys to buy them. the person who help me could not find the tires I wanted being press for time I let him talk me into something else they got the tires done on time but didn't prorate the I bought from them before which clearly wore out before the should have I picked up the suv and there was goouey solution all over the tires and no valve caps and had a different person everytime and no one knew anything about any prorate or anything else. i have sent in two reviews just like this one and pepboys has rejected it both times nobody has gotten back to me buyer be were

The Pep Boys no work completed.

On August 28, 2019, I took my car into Pep Boys at the locations mentioned above. I spoke with Rudy Tovar, Manager, at which time reviewed everything that was wrong and needed repairs. He proceeded to ask for a deposit of $750.00 for the repair of the clutch. This amount was for the parts only and not for the labor. The many times that my family and I had been there, I had never heard of Pep Boy's asking for a deposit up front. I paid the moneys to cover the parts of the clutch for my 2010 Ford Mustang. I am also going to mention that my car has a warranty, which does not cover the clutch.

My car also has a problem with the motor, which is covered by Shields Warranty. It is my understanding that Pep Boys needed to call for an approval. Which was never done.

After ten (10) of waiting, calling periodically to check on the status, which I was told that Pep Boy's was waiting for parts of the car I decided to go by the store and check on the progress of the car.

On Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 7:30 a.m. I went to the store and much to my disappointment; my car was still at the same place where I had parked it ten (10) days prior. NO WORK HAD BEEN DONE or moved from the original spot. Even after a deposit of $750.00.

This is unacceptable Mr. Ninivaggi. Rudy Tovar, the Manager, a Renee co-worker had not done anything to the car. At that point Rudy tried calling the warranty company for approval, which there was no response. He also proceeded to blame, the co-worker, Renee, for not calling to get an approval from Shield Warranty.

I demand that Rudy Tovar be terminated from his present position. There is no room for someone as irresponsible, unreliable, negligent and none caring of customers at a Corporation as this. It is because of Rudy Tovar that I am forced to take my business elsewhere.

If this is not initiated, I will go to the social network and media to let people know what kind of a company this is.

The Pep Boys Air conditioner blowing hot air not repaired correctly

I took in my passenger van to do an a/c check I was charged $ 1, 274.19 — for the repairs, I was told by the store manager mr. Christophehinson that all work was tested and all repairs complete and that no further work was needed, yet it's blowing hot air, I was told that I would be re-charged again to replace the unit and hose to the compressor, these items are under a manufacturer warranty, I should not be charged anything for any services I have an appoint at the ina store @ 9:00 am phone [protected] I was told to send this email to have any work performed waived of any cost as this was a company overlooked error and that the parts are still under warranty.

Thank you for for prompt reply to my formal complaint.

The Pep Boys Service

Regarding service on my 2004 Sebring: 09-02-2019
I've been a loyal Pep-Boys customer for well over 20; there's been some ups and downs but most issues were worked out to the satisfaction of both parties. I have told the store manager as well as the service manager on a number of occasions that, "I was so satisfied and trusting with this Pep-Boys location, that I no longer even bothered to shop around for savings and/or service"!

This condition has come to a screeching halt as of two current events! 1st experience happened 07-17-2019 when I called the service dept. to set an appt. for the following day. Answering message stated service dept. opened at 7:00am. Arrived at 7:05am, temp was already 94 degrees, humidity about 54 percent. No one was available, store locked up. Thought about using drop box out side of service door but there were no service forms to fill out. About 7:50 store mgr. showed up, informed him of misinformation on service call-in line as, well as no service requests blanks for drop box. His reply to call in issue was he tried to get Corp to correct answering message but no support. as to the missing service drop box forms, was told they are taken as quick as he puts them out, so he gave up out of frustration.

At 5 minutes to 8:00 (time store opens) a service tech arrived, unlocked the service door and went in. I was denied entry because the open time is 8:00 (not 5 minutes to!) I'm 83 years old & have a medical condition and considering the extreme heat and humidity I would have thought Customers would have been allowed in as a professional courtesy. I was a bit upset by now and when I confronted the service tech with the entry issue and missing early bird forms, he blew me off with a sharp stare down!

Finally got a work ticket to trouble shoot no cold air from the A/C. Told the tech all I wanted was to service the system. It was never serviced since the car was purchased in 2004. Tired of fighting with this guy and totally frustrated by now I told him to run the test which cost me $162.43. The "test" found nothing wrong and an after service dye test failed to find any leaks.

This tech told me it would be several days to get the A/C system checked out as the A/C guy wasn't available; he said he'd call me when the trouble shooting and service was complete. I received no such call and had to call the service myself to get a pick up date.

I shared all of this with the store manager who said he'd talk to those involved with these problems and let it go although still upset with oblivious internal attitudes.

09-02-2019... second chance to make things right flat out failed! Took same car in on 08-30-2019 and was informed the tech would work on my (8) item (remove, replace, and/or advise list. Told I'd get a pick up call on 09-01-2019. I typed up a detailed "to do list" and delivered it to the same tech that showed me little or no respect a few weeks earlier. He responded pretty good this time and acknowledged my type written, detailed to do list. I got no status call as promised and called myself to check on status. Was told they ran some kind of test and found a problem with fuel pump. Was quoted on the phone well over $700.00 to fix. I asked about my list and was told all items were ok. Upon pick up I asked for a copy of the system check results and verification the other items were in fact looked at. I was told there was NO paperwork on what if any work was done! There were items on the list that do not fall into the Engine Diagnostic category! So again I was charged $89.99, and told ALL the items I requested were completed. I find this VERY hard to believe and have lost ALL faith and trust in Pep Boys!

Besides my business, I've sent a LOT of business to you guys based on my experience, I now feel my credibility is at risk if I suggest Pep Boys to them. Sorry guys, I have to find someone now that respects me and my business.

The Pep Boys damage/tire installations

Store 236 installed 4 tires on my car, damaged ALL FOUR rims. When I returned to store 40 min. later, store manager was dismissive and accused me of being unethical, and went on to be dismissive on behalf of her district manager Tim Yowan.

Don't shop here, you pay more and it's not worth it.

Now, I have to be out of $2500.00 for new rims, and sue for my time and legal fees. But, I will.

The Pep Boys edwardo the one in the customer service

My whole family are Pepboys customers we never ever have a problem in our visit in any Pepboys branch. But in this location the (71 S Semoran blvd. Orlando, Florida 32807 in this morning one of your Employee name Eduardo is so rude to me in my visit he don't know how to deal with your customer like me I came there to get my change oil and tire rotation his rude and start raising his voice at me. They told me to bring my car back coz the first time I bring my car they told me that they change only the oil but not the filter coz they don't have one and now I'm trying to bring it back this employee Eduardo is very rude.

The Pep Boys pep boys

Hello. This is global. Here in Puerto Rico they are doing it too. I called for price on alignment and tire ballance since i cant do it my self. I got the price before going and i agreed. But when i received the recipt, there it was... the shop fee for miscellaneous. They said the same. They charge everybody. The scam is that they don't tell you before the job is done. This is illegal. They should tell you before not after.

Imagine going to a restaurant and after you eat, you get your bill and see a restaurant fee, a charge for miscellaneous. When you ask the waitress, she says is for soap, water to clean, brooms etc. Funny right. If we allow pep boys to do it, the others will follow.

I would never go again.

The Pep Boys water pump

This store is great. Manner J. D (Jermain) was great he helped in every way he could. Chris mechanic was knowledgeable in fixing cars. Carven assistant manager did answer all questions possible in very professional way. I would like to say the Manager J.D. was a good example of real caring manager about his store and Customers as well. Good job and J.D. Must be an example for the entire company

The Pep Boys negligence/ brakes

Hello, I recently posted a bad review on Google and was responded to with this email address. Poor experience? What was done was potentially lethal to myself and others! I want us to get off on the right foot. I'm not angry with you. I however am very upset at how I could have been potentially killed and killed others because of the blatant negligence of your company. Also, I need you to understand that there is no possible way I'm taking my car back to that location to be fixed because I have no faith in their abilities to not get me killed. I have pictures and video to prove all of my claims. I believe I can also provide an affidavit from the shop that custom built the rear brake kit for me in regards to the incompetence of PepBoys. I also noticed damage to the paint on my hood. it's not that big of a deal because the car has not had its final paint job yet but at this point I've about had it. This isn't going away.
I'm not even sure where to begin with this. I brought my 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger in to have the brakes converted over from drums to disks. I asked a lot of questions regarding if this was within the scope of work they could do. I was reassured several times that it was and they did this kind of thing all the time. I believe I dropped the car off on a Wednesday and I was told work would begin that following weekend and it would be one or two weeks tops. After the first weekend with no update, I called to check on the status of the project. I was told by one of the mechanics that worked in the shop not to worry because my car was "out of the way" and wasn't interfering with the other operations. That should have been my first red flag. After the next week had passed, I called again to check on the status of my car. I was told it was being worked on. I never received a phone call from them, I always had to call myself to find out what was going on. Another red flag. This went on for about a month until I finally did receive a phone call informing me that the kit I had purchased to upgrade the rear brakes was not the one I needed. Considering it took them a month to even discover that they didn't have the correct parts should have been another red flag. After getting the kit that I needed and going through hell trying to find rims for it and discovering myself that I needed to change axles, (I did ALL of the legwork for this) my car was completed 11 weeks later. I knew something was wrong when I picked it up but I didn't realize the extent of how bad it was. The brake master cylinder had 2 bolts holding it on, the other bolts had no washers on them so the nuts went right through the mounting brackets and stopped at the firewall, there is a vacuum line running over the top of the air cleaner and going through ignition wires, the brakes feel like stepping on a sponge and almost have no function. Here is the worst of it, the bolt that connects the brake pedal to the brake master cylinder didn't have a nut on it! I discovered this when I was looking at the brake light switch that I was told was out. (there is nothing wrong with that switch, the brake pedal no longer makes contact with it do to something they did wrong) I pushed that bolt out with my finger. Had I been driving the car and that bolt had vibrated out, the brake pedal would have dropped to the floor and I would have had no brakes! I thank God that didn't happen. That is how you kill someone! I refuse to take the car back to them to fix it after that. I'm taking it to another mechanic to tear it all back out and do it right.

The Pep Boys tire price, front end alignment, unethical behavior

My friend and a recently we to this pep boys. One: the tires you had on your web site, could nor be found. So why are they on your web site? Two: front end alignment was not done right thr first time. Why? And why did they rummage throw the car. Again Why? also when new tires where put on the did not put air cap back on. everthing went wrong. this was my first and last time going to your stores.

The Pep Boys management and corp

Management here is [censored], they fried there only main tech ( cause manager Gus was doing shady [censored], And couldn't man up to his own [censored] like a man so he threw the tech under the bus). Management also knew a mechanic name Louie there work and drive customer car when the mechanic haven't had his Driver License for the last 5 years. Corp should and BBB should look into that. Well Corp knew about it also but manager Gus had his noise all the way up AD [censored] and HR [censored]. So they didn't do anything about it also.

The Pep Boys auto battery

Was charged 50% of the selling price to replace a $160.00 bosch auto battery that only lasted 12 months... Warranty clearly states 100% replacement if the battery fails within 36months..."pep boys" refused to honor the warranty and stated it would not honor the advertised warranty of the replacement if it should fail.. Customers in line listening to the conversation refused to make their purchase, told me I should have gone to "auto zone" and walked out of the store... Definitely, do not recommend pep boys or bosch batteries..

The Pep Boys professional malpractice professional negligence

Kevin is the Assistant Manager and is very unprofessional insisted that my car was ok after he reset the engine light that was blinking by going through my fuse box with his recorder. Then he calls me and tells me nothing is wrong with my car and it's ok to drive long distance and if anything happens I know where to find him. Long story short, he ruined my engine by professional negligence and professional malpractice. I later learned that the when the engine light is blinking means do not drive and caution. He sounds of connected it to the diagnosis machine I was happy too leave it there and have him fix it. Now he ruined my engine and I'm reporting him to the BAR. IN MY OPINION HE IS NOT ETHICAL AND SHOULDN'T BE AN ASSISTANT MANAGER OR WORKING ON OTHER PEOPLE'S VALUABLE ITEMS. BEWARE DO NOT GO TO THIS PEPBOYS.
Let me just add this. I kept asking Kevin are you my car is going to be ok I have my 5 year old with me I don't want to get stranded and Kevin INSISTED nothing was wrong but he never diagnosed the car! I was sick in EAST LA in the heat with my 4 year who was crying because of the heat and the 3 hour wait for the Tow Truck that Kevin said he'll get it covered to bring it back to Burbank. I bring it back to Burbank and he says he can't fix it because it's the engine. BECAUSE HE SAID IT WAS OK TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCE WHICH RUINED MY CAR. I've been stuck in the SFV 4 DAYS NOW, missing work, my daughter is missing day care that's paid for, we're paying my friend to stay at his house. My daughter is extremely stressed out and wants to go home and KEVIN didn't even have the RESPECT to get me a rental.. at least do it for my daughter!

The other employees are ok but Kevin is not to be trusted in my opinion. Happy 4th of July I had reservation to go camping 😰 if he would of did his due dilligence and find the problem I would of happily paid for it to get fixed there or take it to Kia it could of been the fuel injector regular maintinace but no he insisted everything is ok and now my engine is severely damaged.

The Pep Boys offended

I made an appointment on-line to leave my vehicle yesterday(June 5)& they had ALL day to change the oil (June 6).I came to pick it and waited a bit to have him give me my keys. That did not really bother me, could see they were very busy.
I backed my car out of the spot that THEY had parked it in, went out of the parking lot and drove about 1/4 of a mile unto a main road. As I turned the corner, I felt something happen under my car & then ran over a hard plastic thing with my back wheels. It was my front Cowling cover! Thankfully, my husband was behind me & watched it happen!
I pulled over & we rode back to the Pep Boys. Waited again for the guy to come back in. He proceeded to tell us that there must not have been bolts in it in the first place! We told him that THEY had changed our oil the last time & this would have fell off a Long time ago!
I again waited for him to put the screws into the Cowling, which took approximately 15 more minutes. When he pulled my vehicle in front, I went to get into my car & he proceeded to tell me it was because I "had pulled over the parking curb or ran over something!" I proceeded to inform him that THEY had parked my car & I did NOT drive over speed humps or curbs & this was NOT my fault! He then said: ""Oh, well I'm not really blaming you, Sweetheart!" I proceeded to tell him that I was not his sweetheart... He immediately left.
I am not upset that a mistake was made, I am upset that I was treated like it was MY fault.
I will NOT go back to this Pep Boy's location again. I would not use Pep Boys again at all, except it is on my vehicles maintenance plan

The Pep Boys inadequate service

On 05/18/2019, I took my 1999 Toyota Camry LE (six cylinder) to Pepboys, In Hackensack, New Jersey, because of a power steering leak. After Pepboys inspected my vehicle, I was told the power steering pump was leaking, an also the left front wheel ball joint needed to be replaced. Ended up spending $1, 213.52 for this service, even after watching my car on a lift for three hours without anyone working on it. On 6/6/2019, I returned to Pepboys to tell them the powering steering fluid was still leaking. After an hour, a service representative told me the cause of the power steering leak is a tiny leak in one of the hoses, an another bigger leak in another hose.
After Pepboys installed a new power steering pump, and flushed the power steering system, I am told whom ever worked on my car did not see the leak. So, I am walking away with the initial problem still present. Pepboys should install the leaking powering steering hoses at no cost.

Had another problem with Pepboys on 4/25/2019, when I took my car in to find out what was causing a loud sound underneath. While the car was on the lift, the service person found a hole in the exhaust pipe, an also discovered an oil leak that was determinded to be coming from the valve cover gasket. The entire exhaust system was replaced after the wrong parts were ordered, an I did not get my car until 8:45pm on 4/26/2019. I was made aware the wrong parts were ordered after I called the service department to get a status. No one communicated with me of the parts problem. Had to take my car back to Pepboys because the new valve cover gasket was leaking. Ended up paying $1, 252.02 for this service. Extremely unhappy customer!
