The Cash Store being told that's enough and all I was doing was getting, 6 pieces of candy from two different bowls

I came in the store to pay on my loan and as I was waiting for the lady to finish up with the other customers. I put my hand in two different bowls to get some candy and as I took out six snickers I was told by the lady that's enough meaning I was taking to much candy. She said this in front of the other customers and made me feel like I was doing something very wrong. I felt so bad about being told off in front of other customers like I was steeling her candy and being put down for getting a little candy from two different bowls. I have never been made to feel less of a person over this matter before this happened to me. I can only guess what the other customers were thinking about me being told off in front of them. I would not want this to happen to any one else. I paid on my bill and left feeling very sad and heart broken over this. So, I came back today with a fresh six pack of snickers paid off my bill and gave her the candy I bought for the store and she said she could not take it because she does not buy it. I left it there any way because I wanted to give the candy back to the store. I have had many loans, but never did I have any problem with the store or the people that worked there until this happened. I believe this happened on [protected]. I would like to be compensated for the embarrassment I have gone through and hope and pray this does not happen to any one else because of the thoughtless emotion from this lady named Yvonne. I have had many loans at this business and will continue if this matter is settled. Thank you, James Pennington

The Cash Store Harrassment

I am being harassed by a woman called Mrs. Allen who claims to be collecting from The Cash Store. She won't give me any details and just screams into the phone when asked questions. I have never borrowed from them and she won't give me details. How can I get her to stop calling me, especially at work? She refuses to provide any written documentation or verbal details.

ebt collection has a strict set of rules defined by Texas Finance Code, Title 5, Chapter 392. Debt collectors should not, for example, harass, call at work, call 3rd parties, threaten, etc

The Cash Store High charges

I'm wondering how The Cash Store can charge so much. They would only let me borrow $160 which would cost me over $300. Other pay day loan store woul let me borrow up to $260 and the payback was only about $304. I have borrowed from them in the past & didn't realize that I was overpaying until I went to another payday loan store. They only charge 17%. I had been paying almost 100% at The Cash Store.

Ottawa Ontario, Canada
My loan was not a big one but it was critical! I used my CTB on a loan, and ontop of a WHOLE bunch of hidden fees i was unaware of i got completely scammed! I told a lady at the ottawa location on merivale road that I had no choice but to make arrangements prolonging my payment to two weeks and that I would start making payments then! So when the day came that I got my money in my bank account, they took it 2 days before they were NOT EVEN soppose to touch it in the first place. Apparently when i called the man i spoke to his name IS CHRIS he told me the manager came back and basically overwritted everything i had priorily arranged with MIA another women who works at the store, and not only did she take out money that she wasnt soppose to but she took it out two days early (this is if there were no arrangements to make a payment two weeks after the note was due!))) This is just an outrage I cannot believe i was scammed, I called them this morning, because 1) I wasnt even contacted in regards to my arrangements and how they were going to overwritted or cancelled if you will. 2) The money wasnt suppose to be taken out until the 19th if there were not arrangements. and 3) Apparently there is nothing they can do except give me another loan. Well you know what I Will take that loan but dont expect anything back because im stopping all payments to you theft ###!

No im not an affiliate or employee. We used to use the cash store quite often when my boyfriend was laid off work. At the store we delt with they didnt give cash they gave a "freedom" prepaid mastercard and charged 17.99 for first time activation and 17.99 every month for having the card. And some silly rate for loading money onto the card lol. we always ended up paying back $100 or so more then our initial loan.

Umm I was reading the complaint and there isn't a mention of a credit card, just a loan. I'm suspicious that chevy maybe could be an employee or an affiliate and if not...apologize. Yes there has been legislation to these rates and is criminal if they charge more.

the reason is also because at the cash store they dont give you cash they issue you funds on a prepaid mastercard and they have to charge you a fee for loading the card everytime you borrow as well, and there is a monthly fee just for having they card.

Manitoba does license and regulate payday lenders. Here's a link to some of their information: http://www.gov.mb.ca/fs/cca/cpo/faq_payday_c.html
I believe that the most that can be charged is $17 on a hundred dollars. BC also has a similar law regulating this industry.
I hope this helps.

they say that they are not payday loans but called themselves line of credit...you need to pay 24.5 % for the borrow and 16 % out of every 100. and you need to get a prepay mastercard on that day and pay that card 24.99 and to reload ...you still have to pay that card $24.99 every time you borrow...wonder how we can stop this kind of rip off and they allow for low income families to borrow..my daughter inlaw pays way to much interest and can't pay it ...so she keeps borrowing.

They don't get commission. and usually they don't stay with the company for more than a year. business ethics are not the same as personal ethics. use your credit card instead of a pay day loan. believe it or not they are cheaper if you have to have it out for an extended period of time. oh and you can void any contract within 72 hours. would have only cost you only the money you borrowed if you knew that.

I had recently agreed to be a reference for a friend of mine for a payday loan. (I did not sign any papers, just provided my phone number and name). Long story short, my friend missed the payment due date and they are now calling me 5 times a day looking for him. They have his number and address, the last time they called was today and they informed me that...

The Cash Store Employment

I became an employee of The Cash Store March 2010, being that it started me out at $11 an hour, and I have two small children at home to provide for. I stayed a CSR (customer service representative) until September 2010, when the branch manager left, and I became the new branch manager. I had been told in e-mails that if the store did not profit $10, 000 a month, and did not have insurance and bank accounts over 90% that we would be replaced. I am totally against giving clients something they do not need, or have requested not to have. So I did my job, completely compitent, and had things running very smoothy (aside from having those numbers that high) One day I had a discussion with my regional manager about what Consumer Protection BC had all over their website, and how it is illegal to charge for cash cards, and why we still do it. Which in turn got me sent home for the day. So I went home without a fuss, figuring we were both just not seeing eye to eye. The next week was my week vacation to spend the Christmas holiday with my children. I go back into work on Monday, and an hour and a half into my shift my regional manager phones says there will be a girl there in a couple minutes to be the new manager, to give her my keys, sign my termination worksheet, and to leave her store. I have phoned the labour board, to see why companies are able to do this, and all they said is if you have been employed with the company for less than a year, they can fire you for whatever reason (in my case, morals) as long as they pay you a weeks severance. So my complaint really, is yes this company is very cruel to it's clientele...but also it's employees. And just a warning to any other employee or potential employee, if you don't do exactly as they say, they will have somebody sign a contract behind you back, and you will be left jobless right after Christmas.

I can't stand this company and there policies are unheard of, i had gotton a call from cash money in toronto saying that someone had taken a online loan out in my name for about 600 dollars when i asked head office what kind of id was used they told me they didnt no, they did not tell me anything. So i called kitchener where i am from and asked the guy from king street what kind of id they used he told me they had used my sin drivers lic ect he also told me that the money was deposited into a scotia bank and had been closed after the money was taken out out.Why cash money headquarters would not tell me anything blows my mind.About three days later someone took an online loan out in my husbands name, i would have to say the people they say that work in there fraud department really suck at theer job, same last name same address like are they stupid...they took a loan out for almost 700 in his name.So now they want us to wait for this paper to come in the mail take it to a lawyer and pay for the lawyer so we can sign it and return it back to the cash store.Does this sound right to anyone. The guy from the cash store told me that this was the 3rd one this week with online money loans.I think that without showing picture id that this could really happen to anyone and that they make this way to easy for all the criminals out there do you?Have you guys ever heard of this happening at this store, let alone 2 times in the same family in less than a week?

To whom it may concern:

With all the Respect to Cottonwood Financial, my intention with this letter is only to give an explanation of my resignation. And can also help your future employees to be RESPECTED as well as understanding that No Company can really afford Turnover.

With only one week of an unsuccessful training, as well as not having the right and necessary tools (frozen training mode computer, wrong Trainer book she did not notice until the fourth day) and, a Careless (texting or on phone )Trainer with anxiety. (the trainer had told a customer she suffer anxiety. And had to smoke a cigarette constantly her tone of voice sounded very rude and impatient ) and other behavior issues, it was NOT easy to learn.

Trainer would assumed did not asked. and if I had questions she would had a very rude response.

In my opinion, Not because The trainer knows how to perform daily tasks, really means she knows how to train Others . Especially if the her anxiety issue is stopping her from being PATIENCE.

To be capable of TRAINING OTHERS, first is to understand that everyone learns different and have to really know to apply constructive, productive and destructive FEEDBACK.

the reason why I am mentioning this is because the trainer only made me aware of my mistakes since Day one; how can you trust your trainer a if you had questions in regards your training ?

how can you gain experience and make thorough the day in a work environment with abusive conduct, intimidating, work interference or sabotage.

My Trainer said I did not have the right to defend my self; because she would said I was in subordinating (this happen when she game a verbal warning on my first day to work on an actual computer)

It is very discouraging when you discover that favoritism and harassment is in place from coworkers or supervisors who are full of jealousy and envy.

I was patient until I decided that I was going to be under this HOSTILE environment for the rest of the time.

I am a current employee at the cash store based in Wisconsin. I have been with this company for a year now. I am a quiet person don't care about anyone's business except my own. Shortly after my store manager got promoted to DM I can not believe the things I hear! There was a new store manager that worked with me for awhile (she just recently quit). We bonded and everything went well until the DM & RM come to our store. We've been audited 3 times a month by the DM. I don't know if he was just doing that for practice purposes or if he's trying to throw us under the bus. Just recently before my store manager quit we caught the DM who was my former store manager cheating! That's right, CHEATING! Well of course the RM isn't going to do anything about it bc he's her golden boy. On that day, I've been speechless until today. I just go in every day bc I have a family to feed, but those people sickens me. I'm trying very hard to look for employment else where. I am their robot, I go cover at other stores, and basically just kissing ### at the moment until I find something else. Please don't work for this company. The upper chain I command don give two [censored]s about their store level employees. I can't wait to gtfo of there!

Oh don't get me started with this company!
As a consumer, please read your rights and the fees associated with this service.
It is true. The loan fee is $21.00/$100.00...if you have the funds transferred into your personal bank account. This is a straight EFT. Now, depending on your needs the transaction is instant from the Cash Store End. WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN TRAINED TO MENTION to the client is that it could take apprx 3-5 business days before your funds are accepted by your bank. This forces people who are in there, that day to take a card product because lets face it, if you had three to five business days to wait for the money, you wouldn't be there right? Money Mart offers this same service but guarantees the funds transfer in one hour. They put their money on the fact that our clients are dumb.

The Cash Store runs their profit solely on fees. If you decline the offer to have your funds transferred into your personal bank account, then the funds HAVE to be transferred onto one of their Cash Card products. Here's where your spending your hard earned money. The card supplier is DIrect Cash. The card of choice is MasterCard or a prepaid wallet. Keep in mind, the Cash Store is a "cashless" store.
Cost of card product: $17.95. You pay for this piece of plastic. Then the card company's fees are added to this.
Regular MasterCard - $7.95- monthly fee, $9.95 Bank Account Fee - Allows us to transfer the funds to your card for loaning purposes. $9.40 is the Cash Store load fee. This allows us to load your card and cover the first transaction. $3.00 Card Load Fee, $2.95 ATM Fee. (This is so you can leave the store with the loan amount you want and the last two fees are not cutting into that loan amount). So, where are we at? 7.95+9.95+17.95+9.40= $45.25 added to your qualified loan amount.
Don't forget the 3.7% "OPTIONAL" Card Protector Fee. If you so chose, this can be added to your payback.-THIS IS A STRAIGHT PROFIT FOR THE CASH STORE.
Don't let this card go into inactive status for if you do Direct Cash will put the card into, well, inactive status so although the monthly fees aren't accumulating, you will be penalized for not using it after thirty days. Come your anniversary date (usually the day you sign up for your first loan), $17.95 will be pulled. Not there ? well then you instantly go into a negative balance. So when you do come in to re-borrow, not only will you be charged the current months fees but also the negative balance PLUS a $5.00 inactive charge. All added to your next loan.
So, $21.00/$100.00 borrowed. This is the Cash Store loan fee.
Card Costs are a separate entity.
Blue Skies MC - $17.95 to purchase, $17.95/mo service fee, $9.40 ATM fee
Prestige MC -$17.95 to purchase, $39.90/mo service fee, $9.40 ATM fee
Prepaid Wallet-#17.95 to purchase, $29.95/mo service fee, $9.40 ATM fee.
You receive the fee schedule in your card agreement. Usually after the loan documents have been printed and signed. Then the card is created and you have a card agreement to sign. You are to be given a copy of this card agreement. This lists all the fees associated with your new card. The fee schedule is also posted on each desk in the office. Never mind the fact that it isn't pointed out to you, but rather taped neatly, facing you the whole time the sale is in process. LOOK FOR IT NEXT TIME YOU GO IN THERE.
This is based in Ontario.

Interested in a position at the Cash Store? Don't waste your time. These people treat their employees like robots. You are not a person, your a minion. Period! Just make their profit and you might be recognized, but then if you're making them a profit, then you aren't any better than the devil.

Hi Hindsightis2020, I completely agree with you. The Cash Store is very cruel to it's employees. I just got fired a few months ago without being questioned by the head office or district manager about the situation, I even entered an explanation of the situation onto the system for head office to understand (regarding very frustrated and angry customer), this customer who we were chasing up for payments, brought in a cheque. I called 6 other stores asking if this type of cheque should be entered under cheque or certified cheque. None of the stores knew. This company is very particular, and every error is filed on your record by the head office. (if I enter it wrong in to the system, then the district manager would yell at me). So I called the store manager and no answer. I called the district manager and no answer. By this time the customer was extremely frustrated and raising her voice at me. I tried calming her down, mentioning that I must enter in under the correct category and she has to sign a form. She got up and started pointing fingers at me, (big person) saying that she will take the company to court. I told her that she is all clear and paid off. I even tried to change her mood, by saying sorry for this, but have a nice day. This customer called the head office and told them I was not confident, made her feel belittled, and didn't know anything about banking. The truth is I've been working at the store for 2 months and nobody has bothered to trained me. I was not rude to her, I was scared because because she was yelling and pointing fingers at me. How can a scared person be rude, I was trying to keep calm so I can provide her with a receipt and try to make a good impression. I was also learning everything on my own. I never had any complaints from any customers, in fact I was very helpful, and showed sympathy whenever they were concerned about the high fees and their financial problems. I would like to warn anybody looking for a job here, don't apply at The Cash Store all they care about is the daily sales. You will have no say in any situation. They will insist you are wrong. What I've learned from other employees is, if you are sick or have major family issues, the district manager will not give a crap, it will be considered as your fault. To all others wanting to borrow, this place is a bait to lure you in as a regular. Deal with your bank only.

I was shocked when I paid my loan back for $300 in a timely fashion...I was charged over $450 dollars...it was supposed to cost me approx . at the most, $60. This is like going to a loan shark-avoid this business...it hurts folks in need and uses them when they are in their greatest need...false advertising abounds...beware!

The Cash Store Poor customer service

My daughter planned to pay her loan off on 12-15-09 in full, which was $301.00. The loan was due on 12-14-09 and she asked for an extension of 24 hours since she got paid of the 15th of December. They told her that at 6pm on the 14th of December they would deposit her check, even though they knew that money would not be in the account until after midnight. All she asked for was just less than 24 hours extension until she got paid. So they tried to deposit the check and added another 30.00 onto the account. What happened to customer service. She willpay them off today and never use them again and will advise her friends to not go to them for any help they may need.

I took a loan personal loan at Cash Store in Alice Texas and I couldn't pay them so I went to a Debt Settlement company and on February 3 2024 Cash Store took money out of my Social Security Account and pending and took 1154.00 out of my account. I couldn't pay the Debt Settlement company. They were on the list. I tried to stop the payment but the company said they couldn't do that. So now and cannot pay the Debt settlement company this month.

First, I don't understand how anyone goes online to complain about something that didn't happen to them directly. Second, the automatic debit was explained to your daughter when she signed the contracts. It was fully explained to her there is NO grace period and payments will be taken from her account if she didn't come in on her due date to make her minimum payment. She agreed to it when she signed the contract. Not to mention the $30.00 return fee. I am not saying it is right or wrong but what happened here is a pure lack of paying attention to what she agreed to. So before you start acussing people of b?ad customer service, read the contract. I am sure good customer service was provided. Let me just say this, just because your daughter didn't get her own way doesn't mean she received bad customer service. I bet you the payment didn't show up in her account on the 15th either. It take a minimum of 24 hours before the ACH shows up in an account. Not only that but the store closes at 6pm but the ACH payment does not process until midnight. So before you bash a company that only charges $22.00 per $100.00, get you facts straight. She didn't receive bad customer service, she received a horrible up bringing as you can tell since mommy is online fighting a bs battle for her. How about she takes responsibility for herself. One thing I know about the Cash Store is they give great customer service regardless of what the contracts spell out in plain English! Get a life Arlena and instead of bashing a company for alleged bad customer service, teach you daughter to listen to what she is being told and to pay attention to what she is signing!

Old post, but still gotta put my thoughts to this, just incase somebody is looking through this trying to find answers to their own questions. A company can not collect on a debt, until it is a day late. They can only charge you 23%, but keep in mind they do not give you the cash option, you have cheque, which is free. Debit card, which is $8 to purchase and a $7.95 monthly fee (but it does not go in the negative). Mastercard which is $17.99 to purchase, and a $7.95 monthly fee (and will go in the negative). And now they have added these really crappy Bank Accounts, which are an additional $9.95 (yes on top of the $7.95 you already pay EVERY month) and just because you said no to it (and that's if the employee even told you about them, and not just assumed the sale and gave you one which is their 'job' by head office standards)All of this money goes on top of your original loan, and usually rounded up to the next dollar. And then to top it off, the OPTIONAL insurance, which is almost 5% of the entire loan, every loan...which again is assumed by the employee. So lets go for the most expensive option which is assumed by the employee...$200 loan on a mastercard with a bank account...Will actually be a $226 + the broker fee, and usually the insurance, then the 17.99 mastercard fee would be added to your payback (the only thing you do not get charged their 23% for) As you can see all these numbers add up very very fast. So yeah, these companies can take you for a real good ride in the behind. So always do research, if you are really in dire need for a payday loan, some companies are lowest of the low (which we have been talking about) And some are the best (In my opinion Money Mart) If it is higher, ask ask ask DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING, until you are OK with the payback once you have signed you have basically said yes this is ok to charge me this much and I will pay you back. If you go the other route and say well I am just not going to pay it back, you will eventually and its going to be way worse because they will try and take the money, again and again, until they get something, and then again and again, until finally it is paid off. Always find anything and everything about a company before actually doing anything. If you are in B.C like I am, check out Consumer Protection BC they have helped a lot of people who do not know much about the whole payday lending...Hope that helps anybody who needs it.

I hate this company they have lousy slow incompetant employees who will nickel and dime you to death. In Canada the law says you cannot charge more than $23 per hundred in a loan. However they find ways to charge you service fees monthly charges, card fees, everything they can think of.
Its a horrible rip off business with terrible practices.

What did you expect? She signed a contract agreeing to those conditions. Maybe she should have taken the loan out a day later that way the due date would have been December 15th. She needs to be a responsible borrower. Stop blaming a business, whose purpose is to make money, for her lack of reasoning.

The Cash Store Misleading Advertising

The Cash Store is running television ads saying all you need to get a payday advance is 1) a steady income and 2) a bank account. A few months ago I was turned down for a payday advance by a Carrollton, TX Cash Store location because the pay stubs I provided them were 1099 and not W2. I'd been working for the employer for a year and a half and was being paid on the 1st and 15th of every month. Doesn't get much steadier. So their television ads are very misleading.

If you use it correctly to begin with and read your contract then all would go well. Communication with them is also key. If you have a horrible experience it's because like an idiot you probably tried to get away with not paying back but were well happy to spend the money they lent you

Hello, This letter is to inform you that Ken King, of your Edmonton Branches, is an extreme [censored] bag! He lies to his staff, managers and anyone who crosses his path. He is a sexual predator that makes advances towards young women and holds them back from promotions and raises. Giving bad reviews to women who want to better there careers and move on! This [censored] bag should be removed from all his duties! If anyone cares or notices his areas of management, they are all losing staff! I wonder why! A woman works her ### off for over a year with out a raise and then Ken hires new woman with little or no experience at a higher wage! HUH?! you read it correct! I am sure nobody gives a damn in that head office but how much money you suck from people in need! I wont stop here! I will post on all resources...facebook, twitter, google reviews, yelp and all other forms of social media! This guy is a scumm bag! He should hide his face in shame!

Alright, so I've loaned with the Cash Store several times and I'd like to clear a few things up:
-First of all, if you've ever loaned with the Cash Store, you know that there are 5 pages in your contract. There is NO "fine print" in your contract. It's extremely easy to read and understand (if you're not a ###). It very clearly states that if you are unable to make a payment ON OR BEFORE THE DAY IT'S DUE, they debit the payment amount from your account. Not only does the contract state how much the interest charge is, but it's posted all over the store. There are even huge signs that say what the payment amounts would be for money borrowed in $100 increments. It's not like they're keeping any secrets. I love the store I go to, and the employees are extremely friendly. I've never had a problem with them, but that may be because 1) I always borrow what I know I can afford to pay back and 2) I never miss a payment. I find it interesting that none of these people bother to tell you that not only do you receive an EXACT COPY of the loan agreement, but you are also given not one but TWO different papers showing what your payment schedule is and the amount the payments are. Most of the people on here are just upset because they didn't borrow responsibly, they dug themselves a hole, and they need someone to blame. The interest rates are high, but you should be smart enough to only take an amount that you can afford to make payments on. I'm guessing most of you went in because you only needed $100 (I think the payments on that are $25), but since you were approved for $1500 you took out the WHOLE THING, even though you didn't NEED it. It's not rocket science! I've loaned with SEVERAL other places that DELIBERATELY take advantage of people and are WAY worse with people who go into debt (they will actually show up at your home! Who are the REAL loan sharks?). If you're not an idiot and actually LISTEN to the employees who explain in GREAT DETAIL the terms of your contract, it's actually a very nice place to loan from. Fast, friendly, and professional.

The cash store has ridiculous pay back fees and no room to work with you on repaying, they will pull money out of your account even with you stating the is none there. Although there was a contract there they give you numerous paper work ensuring you won't want to read it all. Justice finance is a company I've borrowed from in the pas who on, y adds 15 per hundred and they give you a ten day grace period if needed... The cash store is a big scam which o ly helps you dig yourself into a bigger hole they are not understanding at all and some of their e, players have a horrible work ethic. Please do not. Borrow from these sharks

The Cash Store is the most evil company I have ever worked for. The total lack of ethics and decency, toward customers and employees, ...amazing. If you come down sick while on the clock, they treat you as if you had committed a crime - even if you are only sick once a year. They do not allow employees to observe sincerely held religious beliefs without persecuting for it. (I believe that is illegal). I too feel that I am a criminal for a living. It has affected my entire life in a very negative way. I would not have taken the job had my questions at the interview been answered honestly. Direct questions like: what will my shift be? Ans: you will either work the early shift or the late shift and out hours are 9-7 Mon thru Fri and 9-3 on Sat. Since that is 10 hours, and from the answer given, one would think that they would not be working the entire time span. But that is exactly how they schedule. Open to close. I also asked if I would work every Sat. She said "o no, we rotate Saturdays". Guess what; NOT. Worse yet, if you want off on a Sat even if you have vacation to use, they say "sorry, that is our busiest day". Their insurance is not even real insurance - it is that stuff that the goverment says is not meant to be used as insurance but only as a supplement to your health coverage and healthcare. We even got a notice from the government that it doesn't meet the requirements. (but they had gotten a waiver) - What? I could go on and on about this company, but if there is any other options, even at lower wages, take it. I'm gonna! ASAP

I took a loan out at the Cash Store and then I got hired there after I paid off the loan. YES the loan is expensive we KNOW. But take into consideration that we don't check your credit and we give you cash. We're stuck between getting yelled at by you and yelled at by our bosses. We don't want you to be in collections, we don't want you to be in debt forever. We get NO support from our superiors and our customers think we're evil. Most of us only work there because we need a job and its easy to get hired. The truth is that we're not making commission, the "incentives" are impossible to obtain, and our hourly wage is about as good as a call center. Also everyone and their dog hates us. We have to call at least 20 people 3x a day at three different numbers just for reminder calls - that's nearly 200 phone calls a day. We HAVE to call you until we make contact that's the rule. Otherwise we get fired. And then there are collection calls. That's another 100 - 300 calls a day depending on how many people decided to not read their contracts and not come in on their due dates. I WISH we could hold your payment but we can't. Its nothing personal - we understand that your grandma died/your kid's in the hospital/ you're in another state but we literally can't do anything per company rules. Honestly we hate the company as much as you do but we all have to live. I'm looking for a new job. I'm tired of getting yelled at by stupid people.

I borrowed twice from the Cash Store and paid off the first time.Second time I got 450 dollars and the pay off was about 1100 dollars .I thought payday loan and installment was the same thing.Well I came in on a Wednesday and they took my employment info and noted get paid 15th and end of month. This means nothing since it was due every other Wednesday and if I needed to wait a day or two did not matter since there was no grace period or adjustment it had to be that day or they draft from your checking account whether you had it or not .You had to either scrape up the money or if you were a couple payments into the loan you chould refinance and start from the begin and they give you about 15 dollars in interest if you were broke it seems like a good deal at the time so you start all over again and each time you make two payments its the same thing .I know its my fault for being so desperate and not reading the repayment terms and for thinking it would come out on my pay period and I would not have to go broke in the end.Hopefully this helps someone else since I could not help myself.I did find a real loan company that is not a payday loan and the payment is great not over the top interest and 10 day grace period if needed and will adjust to your pay period. Also reports to the credit bureau to help your credit rating.I wish I had found World Finace first instead of under estimating my credit. They even gave me my credit score.Stay away from the Cash Store unless you like paying way too much back for a couple hundred dollars.Although you might need the money bad but it is not worth it.

The Cash Store Fraud and cheating

About four months ago, my husband took out a loan through the cash store in sun prairie wisconsin. We were in the middle of a bathroom remodel that went over budget and were expecting a large check payment from someone in July, so we decided to borrow the money to finish our bathroom until then.

Upon going to the store, they offered us this great deal where you can extend your loan for 12 weeks and just make bi-weekly finance charge payments. We signed up for it and proceeded to make the payments every two weeks. The woman running the store was very nice and called us a few days prior to each payment and asked if we were coming with cash or wanted it withdrawn from our checking. We opted to have the money withdrawn every two weeks. As planned, in July we received our big check we were expecting and called and asked for a payoff amount. We proceeded to pay off the loan in full. We were given a receipt stating the payoff amount, payment made, and new balance. In big letters at the top, it said 'PAYMENT IN FULL'. The woman at the store also put a big red stamp on it saying 'PAID'. We went on our merry way and thought it was settled. We had no further contact with the cash store. Then, two months later, we receive a call saying we owe money still. My husband said he had the receipt and proceeded to fax it to the store. He then called the store to make sure it came through and was told everything was then covered. Less than a week later, we receive a collection statement from them. We proceed to call them and talked to several different people at their 'corporate' office. Each person told us a different story.

The first one said, we faxed the receipt and that there had been a computer error and the collection notice was sent out prior to us faxing the receipt and we could disregard it that it was taken care of. We asked for a letter stating that it was clear and we could disregard the collection notice. We were then told to call the store itself to get that. upon calling the store, the lady was very rude and told me that we were given that receipt by error and should never have received it and we still owe money.

We then placed another call to the corporate office where we were spoke to the supervisor who was also very rude and told us that we had to send her ALL of our bank statements. She said that there had been a returned payment and we still owe money. I told her what my statements showed that they had tried to take out two payments at once and upon calling the store, the woman at the store reversed the payment and credited it back to us. She still demanded the bank statements, which even my bank manager told me was not wise to send due to lots of personal info being on it.

I then called the store again and asked 4 times for the exact payment dates of all payments they had on record. I called my bank and asked if any payments had been returned. NONE! the only payment that was returned was the one that the cash store clerk authorized because she took out two payments at once. The lady in the store says that the one payment that was supposed to be returned was done on a date two weeks before i paid the loan off. the corporate office claims that it wasn't sent back to them as 'not being withdrawn' until the middle of august, how convenient that that was after i paid the loan off. My bank confirms that no payment were returned in August. I went to the cash store and asked for all paperwork they had on file, specifically the paper stating when the one payment was returned to me. they refused to give it to me.

I called corporate one last time. the woman would not even listen to me! She was extremely rude and accused me of stealing said money from them. she said then said there was no payment returned in august (after she told me there was in a previous phone call). She says that my receipt is not valid. I thought that the receipt was to show that the loan was paid off, but apparently not! she says that there was an error in the computer system on their end and it took them this long to discover it and that i still owe money. also, the girl that worked there when we took out the loan and paid it off no longer works there. apparently she was fired... wonder what for? So, my guess is that she screwed up and now i am being punished for it. they refuse to help me. i was told that they have been dealing with this all day and are tired of dealing with me and they threatened to turn me into a third party collection agency if i don't pay them. they won't accept a statement from my bank in regards to the payments and still demand bank statements which as i said before my bank advised me against giving out. i am now reporting them to the consumer protection agency and thinking about getting a lawyer. not sure what else i can do because they basically admit they screwed up but don't care and are coming after me for it anyway. my advice to anyone thinking about borrow money from them is DON'T. First of all you are only putting yourself further in the hole and they will screw you over any way they can. I'm proof that even having a receipt for it doesn't mean anything to them!

I am ftrom Texas and never had problem with them. They always give u an option how to pay. To be taken out from your bank or make a payment in cash in store or using debit atm card. I am sorry bad things happen to others. Just try to double check your paper works. Check your bank whenever its payment time and always call them or I suggest go in person .

My advice to everyone is to call the States Attorney's office for your state, my issue is I'm a payee for a disabled person and they wrote the person a loan even though having a payee means they do not have the ability to make there own financial decisions.

To whom it may concern:
THE WORK ENVIRONMENT AT THE CASH STORE

@YourMomKnowsBest First of all, I highly doubt you're a mother, as your scathing, toxic, and judgemental replies on this site clearly show you are a total ###. (Yes I read all 200 of your RIDICULOUS replies denying every person on here - Who the f*** do you think you are?)

My father actually cares about what is best for me, that is what a parent does. Unlike your FAKE name of MotherKnowsBest. You dont know ###! He has forgiven me for making a mistake. It doesnt make one STUPID to sign for a payday loan when you need to eat food and you have no other options. It does make you stupid to continue the cycle without trying to find a way out.

If you read my second response on here, I am clearly illustrating the real cost of these loans, and challenging people who are stuck in them to find a way out.

Obviously you have never been down on your luck or so far down without any credit or assets established to survive. I would like to say I hope you never do, but after reading your responses I think you have some very difficult karmic lessons in your future.

The last thing we need on here is some nasty cow insulting people who are already struggling.

I wanted to add further to my comments from yesterday.

If you are thinking about using a payday lender, please avoid it at all costs. 18 or 23% doesn't sound like much but let me break it down to you in a different way so you understand how BAD it really is.

If your net take-home paycheck is $1250, most payday lenders will offer you up to about $650
The cost of this loan at 2 weeks at 23% would be $149.50 so the grand total to be repaid would be $799.50

Imagine if your boss came to you and said: "Effective immediately I am arbitrarily cutting your take-home pay by 12% for the rest of your life." That is $1250 - $149.50 = 11.96%

That is what any of these payday companies are doing, you are ACCEPTING a continual cycle of a permanent wage decrease, because let's be honest, from what I've seen, once somebody starts they re-loan every payday.

So if you are in this cycle or you are in a bind, I need you to think outside of the box. Can you go without essentials for awhile to break the cycle. Can you call up a relative and beg them to loan you the money personally to pay the payday loans off and break the cycle.

Do WHATEVER it takes to BREAK THE CYCLE. These are EVIL EVIL corporations that are DESIGNED to keep you ENSLAVED while making them obscene profits.

Did you know that under the Criminal Code of Canada, section 347 makes it a criminal offence to charge more than 60% interest per annum. This is called USURY.

Take a look at your payday loan documents and see what these companies are charging. For example, a 2-week payday loan of $640 @ 23% interest on the balance has an effective PER ANNUM rate (APR) of 559.67%!

The government made some changes to the industry but basically allows these corporations to continue their illegal loan-shark operations because there are not other financial institutions willing to step in and provide the higher risk short-term loan options that people really need.

So wake up! Take a deep breath, forgive yourself for allowing yourself into this cycle, and make a plan to escape.

I broke down and begged my senior father to loan me the money, at first he was hesitant but when I explained the amounts of interest these companies had me on the hook for he wired me the money right away.

Another important FACT to be aware of. In Canada, after you sign the loan contract for a payday lender, you have THE LEGAL RIGHT until the close of business the following day to CANCEL the loan at NO COST. I went and cancelled loans at 3 payday lenders yesterday. All 3 of them did it, but required assistance from the supervisor because they didn't know how to do it. 2 of the clerks had never cancelled one before and didn't know it was an option! 1 of them confided that in several years at her business, she had only rescinded 2 contracts!

The Cash Store in Canada (www.cashstore.ca) is the WORST payday 'lender' I have ever experienced. They assumed that I wanted 'balance protection' on top of the 23% payday loan. When I read the agreement she was getting me to sign, I noticed this extra surcharge and said NO. So they redrafted the agreement to the standard 23%. The fact that they are called The Cash Store is a JOKE. They do NOT offer CASH. They have NO CASH in their stores. You must take your advance by cheque, their Debit Card, or their MasterCard. Both of their cards have high fees. I opted for the cheque. When I did so, the manager verbally asked me if my bank account does holds. I said no, I have been a premium chequing account holder at my bank for years with NO holds, not even on ATM deposits. When I went to deposit the cheque at my bank that day IN PERSON, they accepted it but called me about 10 minutes later to remind me that cheques from the Cash Store are subject to a 5 day business hold. Therefore, NONE of the money was available for me to pay the bills I needed the loan for. When I called my bank back the next morning, the cheque was already sent out to the cheque processing center, so I couldn't get it back. NOWHERE in the agreement does it say that their cheques are subject to hold. When I called 'The Cash Store' manager back at 9AM the following morning, she said that it's not a problem for other customers and it must be something with my account. I politely told her that was a lie, as the day before I had deposited a cheque from my boss to the same branch in person and the funds were instantly available. i also informed her how in 5 years I have never once had a cheque held at my bank, and that the teller specifically told me the reason the cheque was being held was because it was from 'The Cash Store'. I had to call my father and ask him to deposit an emergency loan into my account so that I could go and CANCEL this loan as is protected in the contract up to the close of the following business day. So just to recap how ###ing crazy this is, I have to PAYBACK the original loan amount to cancel the agreement, while I wait a week for the funds to actually clear into my account. This is the most deceptive, fraudulent business practice I have ever experienced in the world of payday lenders. If you are in Canada, go to a 'reputable' payday lender. My favorites are CashMoney (www.cashmoney.ca) & MoneyMart (www.moneymart.ca), and MoneyTree (moneytreeinc.ca) is ok as well although MoneyTree will only lend smaller amounts for the first few loans until you prove yourself. CashMoney does a flat rate of 20% per hundred, and are the friendliest operation I have encountered. MoneyMart is 18% if you pay it back on the due date, otherwise it's 23%. MoneyTree is the same 18% & 23%. the biggest bonus, is they all give you COLD HARD CA$H. AVOID 'the Cash Store' at ALL COSTS. I also informed the manager that since the payday legal agreement says in section 'B' that 'you will receive $XXX on MM/DD/YY' constitutes fraud and renders the agreement null & void since I did not receive the funds on the date promised in the agreement. Again the manager tried to come up with every excuse like, it's your first time depositing one of your cheques, or maybe your account holds cheques, and any other lies she could think of. She is a friendly enough girl but working for the dirtiest of the dirty. ###ING SHAMEFUL!
