The Bulldog Exchange The $10,000 Dog!

Our bulldog, Delores, is now titled, "The $10, 000 Dog." When she was six months old, we were told that she have severe hip dysplasia and that her eyes were of major concern. She also repeatedly gets mistaken for a mixed breed dog because she has a very long tail, is tall, extremely scrawny, and unhealthy.

I repeatedly wrote and called Stacey at the Bulldog Exchange and received no response for months until I threatened legal action. I truly do not believe that this dog is a purebred and when I asked for photos of her parents, Stacey did not send any. I asked her to respond to several of our questions and she never did.

When I finally elicited a response from her, she lied and said that she hadn't received any of my previous correspondence. I then forwarded each and every one, so that it would show the original time and date of sending.

As you can see from the attached photo, we have our one healthy, proportionate, well adjusted mini bulldog and the other- whatever she may be, unhealthy, and expensive dog. You decide! Obviously, these came from two different breeders.

I too purchased two bulldogs from The Bulldog Exchange. I spent $4400.00 for both puppies. I recieved the male first. Within a couple of days I noticed blood in the stool. The vet told me my puppy suffered from coccidia. I spent a little over $200.00 in vet bills to get him better. The vet also advised me that coccidia comes from kennels with many dogs. A...

The Bulldog Exchange sick mini bulldog

DO NOT BUY A PUPPY FROM THE INTERNET OR THE BULLDOG EXCHANGE. BE CAREFUL.
Hello
We are from Toronto, Canada... Me and my husband bought a mini bulldog from the bull dog exchange. From Stacey.

At frist she pretends to be so nice as we pick out our puppy. The day our puppy arrived from a flight that was suppost to be 4 hours long. She was on a stop over in New Wark and was flying for more than 10 hours with the stop over.
We picked her up from cargo with no water in her cage. She was crying and cold. It was 5:30 when we finally arrived home. She started to play for a little bit then the diareah started, then the coughing by 5:30 the next morning our puppy Lola was very sick and not responsive. We took her to the animal hospital were our nightmare began. They told us she has severe Pnemonia and she had to stay there for 8 days. We called and asked Stacey for her vet info, that checked Lola prior to leaving and said she was fine.

Our vets told us by her white blood count she had already had the virus for at least 3 days. Of course Stacey was not returning calls I had to scare her on the phone with numerous calls. Also to post our situation on the internet. Until we got our credit card company involved. It took months we fought. Finally a break Staceey got nervous with the numerous contact from our credit card company so they sent a email saying they would pay us back in insalments. I can be a constant pain when I am anger. Especially when I feel violated and ripped off.

Our credit card company citi bank said that based on the email from her saying she would refund us. They could force the bull dog exchange to honor the email. So the credit card company gave us our $2700 back. Finally some type of payment and no call from Stacey... To ask how our sick puppy was. We were under so much stress.

Finally after 8 days we brought our puppy home under serious medication. She had bronchitis for 2 weeks after we had to give her a neubulizer 3 times a day. Then tap her lung to help her break up the mucas. We now have purchused a fullpet medical care at $80 a month so if she ever gets sick she will be covered. Her total medical cost have excedeed $5700 and counting. I think she has a weakened amuin-system. She gets cold easy. Has some scar tissue on her left lung.
And who know what else. I know we got $2700 back but it was the most stressful thing me and my husband have been through so far. We love little Lola. But we worry about her future health. She is 5 months and her weight is about 36 pounds. Miniature we dont think so. Please be carefull buying a puppy any puppy. Next time we would fly anywhere to pick up your own puppy.

So tell everyone you know about our story as we have told many already... And one day we will personally pay the bull dog exchange a visit in Florida to see Stacey and what kind of care they have with there puppies.

We purchased our mini bulldog from Stacey last April 2008. We too have been waiting to get our $89 refunded for the dog not being microchipped. Our female grew to about 40 lbs. Not mini by any means. We actually had her DNA tested because we could not believe how much she did not look like a bulldog as we have another full size bulldog and she did not resemble him at all. She did come back full bulldog, just poor breeding. Unfortunately we had to have her put to sleep last friday. She was only 16 months old. She had a brain tumor that was believed to have since we got her. My kids are devastated! It was just growing at a rapid pace. Please beware and DO NOT buy any puppies from Stacey!

My name is Lisa and we got our little baby bulldog Fiona in December of 2007. She was shipped from Florida to Salt Lake City where my husband picked her up. We live in Montana. The night we got her she developed a cough, and I spoke to Stacey that evening. Stacey assured me that Fiona was given a clean bill of health. After a week of antibiotics the poor thing developed pneumonia. We had to give her a nebulizer treatments 6 times a day, and then she was on antibiotics for almost 2 months. We were unsure that she was ever going to get over it. She did very well, and we have had an amazing year and a half with her. Unfortunately, Fiona had her first seizure 2 weeks ago. We initially thought that she just got overheated, but now after a relapse after 2 weeks the vet is thinking she might have epilepsy. She is in the hospital now being monitored. They think that she will be able to be treated with medication for the remainder of her life as the seizures are petite in nature.

The reason that I even just found out that we were the victim of an internet scam, was because my vet asked me to contact the breeder to find out about Fiona's history. I was disgusted and greatly sickened to find out about my little Fiona coming from a puppy mill.

At the same time, although I know we have been a victim of a scam, I am so thankful that I saved my little girl from the terror of a puppy mill. We love her so much and where she came from is irrelevent to us because she has given us such happiness. I know she will be okay, and the cost of all the treatments don't matter to us because she has been such an amazing dog, she is so worth it to us...

Reading all of this makes me physically ill and breaks my heart. All the reports about these evil people are true. Our babies arrived sick and malnourished. After receiving the puppies we NEVER heard back from those women. Evil, evil, evil.

I too have a "mini" form the bulldog exchange...he weighs 70lbs! Luckily he is healthy now, but that is scarey to think about. I am sorry to hear your boy has hip problems. It sound like he is in good hands with you and lucky to have you as his parents.

Hello to you all, We are Kevon and Stephanie, We to got our bully from The bulldog exchange. Sadly our Dodi has hip dysplasia. Needless to say he is no mini! he weighs in at about 80 lbs, yes 80 lbs! He cant walk more than 5-7 steps before having sit down, He is in pain constantly.

I can not for the life of me believe that an advertising breeder would not disclose this information and would keep breeding this awful problem. It is absolutely the most sad thing to see your puppy become affected by hip dysplasia they do from happy to in pain in less than a year.

I more than Stephanie, would like to persue this matter further. If anyone would like to set up a group so that these breeders and puppy mills are brought to light. I think the internet is strong media medium and with all the awful reports about this particular breeder, we could really start a movement. And bring these crooks to the forefront and not let this happen to anyone else.

We bought a mini bulldog from the bulldog exchange in February 2008. When we brought him to our vet the next day he was diagnosed with aortic stenosis of the heart. In July 2008 we brought him in for swelling around his neck and he was diagnosed with right side heart failure and they gave him a prognosis of 1-3 months to live. We have spent thousands of dollars to keep him alive and he has outlived his prognosis. He is on a special low sodium diet, heart pills and diuretics and we have had fluid from his abdomen drained twice. We love our little bulldog TAZ, but it has been a very stressful and sad year. This is definitely not what we expected when we bought a puppy for our family. I feel for all of you who have had similar situations.

I also purchased a mini bulldog from Stacey back in March 2008. After getting the runaround for weeks I finally drove down to pick the puppy up in April. The very first night I brought her home she was sick. She deteriorated drastically after that. By the next night we had to take her to an emergency vet hospital where they told me she was so sick they were not sure if she was going to survive. Thankfully she did but we were making weekly visits to the vet and she was on countless antibiotics and other medications never really getting better. I tried to contact Stacey numerous times after every vet visit but she refused to take any of my phone calls and never answered any of my emails. I even found out later that her vet knew she was giving me a very sick puppy but gave me a health certificate from another dog that was healthy. I agree these people are very sick and totally rip people off.

My boyfriend bought me a mini bulldog for my birthday this last November from Stacey's sister. She has yet to call us back. We have left her alot of messages. She charged us to "Chip" our puppy (McTuff) and when we took him into the vet for his second set of shots we asked the Vet if he was chipped and our vet told us no. I am so sorry you got a sick puppy. I hope she is doing better. I totally agree with you on not trusting The Bulldog Exchange. They seemed so nice at first. I guess they are the sicko types that just breed puppies for the money and disapear.

The Bulldog Exchange Fraud, fraud, fraud

My name is John and I bought a mini english bulldog from a company called the bulldog exchange llc which is owned by a man named Evan Quintavella, who breeds the dogs in Florida. I actually purchased the dog from a lady named Lisa Vitale who works for him, but I later found out that she lives not in Florida but in the northeast, I think Ohio. I done this all on line on the web site of bulldogminiatures.com, they advertise how these dogs are better than a fullsize bulldog and have less health problems according to what I was led to believe by Lisa, with a guarantee that was re-written since I have purchased the dog.

I spent $2500.00 for the dog which is definately more than a regular bulldog and have spent in the area of $4000.00 in the 10 months that I owned the dog! This all just to keep the dog alive! Since all this happened Lisa has not talked to me once and turned over the problem to her brother in law Evan who breeds the dogs. I have contacted the Florida attorney general, and the agriculture dept. of animal services in Florida also, and they are not allowed to give legal advice but both commented on if I have contacted an attorney! Evan made me jump through hoops just to get him to listen to me about what was going on with this dog, and in my opinion and my vets opinion he has no regards for the dogs well being at all, just the money he receives for these innocent animals.

We purchased a mini bulldog from Stacey/Bulldog Exchange over a year ago (2/2008). She arrived to us with a slight parasite problem, but recovered quickly. She is full grown now standing at about 15" and weighing about 35 lbs. Slightly larger than we expected, but size was never guaranteed and we knew that on the front end. Overall, we have been extremely happy with our purchase and with Molly. She is in great health and her demeanor couldn't be better! We have a 3 yr old that is absolutely in love with her! Would we buy again - YES -absolutely without hesitation. In fact, I emailed Stacey just this morning to begin inquiring. We think Molly is ready for a playmate, and our experience has been so great that I wouldn't risk going to someone else. Incidentally, Stacey/Bulldog Exchange has no control over what is allowed in the kennel with the dog during flight. Our puppy did come home needing a bath, but that was b/c she couldn't hold her bladder... not b/c Stacey didn't prep her well.

Good luck to the rest of you, sorry your experiences don't seem to have been as great. As a side note, I don't doubt for one minute that I'm the only happy customer out there.

Hello Stacey

Remember us from Lola owners from Toronto. Yes you do have a garuntee and it say's that your puppy has to die from severe illness. Our credit card company basickly told us we should of let Lola get sick and die within 48-72 hours. Then you would have given us a refund.

But instead we sent $5700. And of course any dog owner and lover would immediately pay there vet to start medical care for there sick puppy. When there dog can not walk or stand. Your so called vet that check Lola, check her and gave her a shot. That is not a real check up. Our puppy had a cold and it got worse when she flew.
We also sent her x ray to a vet in San Diego. It showed she has a severe pneumonia in her left lung. That does not occur in 24 hours. It takes days.

Yes maybe all your dogs are not sick, some could be healthy. And after month's Lola is doing okay. But our vets think she has a weakend amuin- system from her illness. So I would recommend anyone to personally visit your property to pick up there puppy. I would even recommend people to have blood work done on there puppies, just to make sure there blood work show's they are healthy. One day I would personal love to see how your dogs are kept.

Stacey I am sorry you ignored us. But I am happy we got our money back.

By the way our dog weight is 36 pounds at five months. Your fellow friends at the www.MBCOA.com state that a mini female weight is 25- 38 pounds.

Ya okay our puppy way over that she is not even one year... But thanks any ways.
Now it will be my misson to help or advise anyone when buying any animal.

Good Afternoon.

I am writing in response to some of the negative comments that have been posted against The Bulldog Exchange and it's employees. For every negative comment that has been written, there are hundreds upon hundreds of customers throughout the United States that are just thrilled with their dogs that were purchased from us. In fact, many of our customers have gone on to purchase second puppies. Our referral business is about 35 % . The negative comments represent about 1/100% (if that) of our customer base.

It is human nature to look for and believe only the negative.

We provide a written guarantee that "every" customer signs when purchasing a puppy from us. We stand behind our guarantee 100% . In fact, we guarantee certain things as breeders that other breeders don't. This particular breed of dog does come with the possibility of having issues that bulldogs have. It is not a secret that they can and often do have issues. It is also the repsonsibility of the person purchasing one of our puppies to understand the breed. If the breed isn't understood by the people who purchase them and if the puppies or dogs aren't cared for properly, issues can escalate and problems become more severe.

More often then not our customers do not send in the required paperwork. We have our dogs vet checked 24 - 48 hours prior to their going to their new families and health certificates are issued. It is the responsibility of each owner to have their new puppy checked my their vet. This is a check and balance system. It clearly states in our guarantee that the customer has to do this. Those customers that don't follow the steps that we require are the first customers to complain when issues present themselves and our guarantee becomes null and void if this step isn't completed by the customer. It is in black and white.. clearly visible and "every" customer signs it.

I am not saying that we are perfect; and I am not saying that there are customers who haven't had issues with our puppies. I am simply saying that bulldogs, miniature and otherwise can sometimes have a set of bulldog problems that are unique to this breed. They are the most wonderful pets..and we do everything that is within our power to insure their good health. Some of what is written in a negative manner is completely erronious and grossly exaggerated. Keep in mind that there are two sides to every story and just because you write something doesn't mean that it is necessarily true.

We have a state of the art kennel...People marvel at the beauty of it all and to say that it is absolute perfection is an understatement. We give our puppies and our breeding dogs love, the best food, the best vet care; we socialize our puppies beyond what any breeder does with their puppies and their temperaments are so incredible. We love what we do and it is evidenced by the very vast majority of those customers that purchase their puppies from us.

We have neglected to repsond to these reports mostly in part because they have been few and far between, comparatively speaking.

Sincerely yours,
The Bulldog Exchange

I too purchased a Mini Bulldog from stacey ... I had my first argument with her reguarding the "all inclusive" price of 2400.00 US, she wanted nearly 350 more to ship the puppy I had picked out... I refused to pay her anything more and told her if shipping my puppy would cost me anything I would cover the cost once he arrived in Canada. Well it cost me 75 Can. for the duty papers and nothing at the airport to get him ...? thought she was full of her self then and became very rude to deal with, as did Evan once I decided to contact him ... well after taking my puppy to get checked out ..I was told he had an American chip in him ( does me no good in another country )..not the International one they promised, and I recieved papers for a different puppy ...and not even the papers for the other puppy that traveled that day with my dog ! And as much as I love my dog ( and I am a cat person first ) and I do totally adore him, he is NOT a Miniture by no means ...he grew to be almost 16.5 inches and weighs in at a whopping 67 pounds and other than a skin issue he is a very happy big boy that everyone loves

I recieved a male bulldog from them at the end of August 2007. He was born in June and he has had health problems from the beginning. The day I got him, he was extermelly sick with giardia. We then recieved another female bulldog with giardia 2 week later. Unfortunately, I do not know how she is doing. She wasn't able to get along with other dogs and was rehome to wonderfull family that had just lost there bulldog. She is in a home all her own and I will contact them to see how she is doing. Last I heard she was doing wonderful and being spoiled rotten with a princess bed. Back to my male bulldog, when he was 3 months old he got cherry eyes. He has had surgery on them 3 times and they will not stay in. Still to this day they are out. His eye lids are also turned inward so that he is unable to heal all the way from surgeries. At 6 months we thought we would lose him due to an infection from the cherry eyes. I notice one night that he had a hole in his eye, by the next morning when I took him to the vet, they said that they thought the infection could be in his brain. He was rushed to surgery again. Thankfully he come out ok. Unfornately, he is losing his eye sight from all the surgeries and not being able to make his own tears. We decieded that we would leave them out until they stop work. He now has to deal with eye drops twice a day for the rest of his life. When he was a little bit over a year he fell over and wouldn't get up. After months of test they found out that he has hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia. Because of the fact that the didn't show any sign of it he has arthritis in all of his joints. He now has to take pills for the rest of his life. He has skin issues that include infections between his toes. My poor bulldog has spend most of his life in a cone and not being able to interact with my other dogs due to his hips and elbows as well as a normal 3 year old would. Our vets and my goals are just to give him the best we can until he can't make it anymore. I hate seeing a 3 year old dog not being able to move or see however, this is the life he will live. Our vet doesn't hold out much hope that he will make it over the age of 5. Our goal right now is to give him the best life we can and to prolong his life as much as we can. Thankfully he is getting better. However, he wouldn't be having to go through all this if the breader would not have been breading unhealth animals in an unhealth environment. These people are on the same yard as back yard breaders or even worst. They shouldn't be allowed to do this to any creatures. The best justice would be for them to have to suffer at least half the pain and anguish that any of these dogs are suffering through everyday. Something has to be done to insure that they are never allowed to be around animals and harm another living creature. Unfortuately, they have not only harmed or hurt the animals but us as well on a daily base. When we are the ones suffering with the animals by loving them and having to sit there watching them suffer while trying to do everything we can to make their life better and to remove the pain. Unfortunately, the only way we can stop them or others like them is through the justice system to insure this doesn't continue to happen to other animals and people.

I got a female, she was born August 30th 2007. She flew from Florida to NY on Oct 31st 2007.
A week later had pneumonia, which she pulled through. Now she is 3 and been having issues, which the VET can't seem to pinpoint what the problem is...They seem to think she epileptic or has a brain tumor - we are in the process of testing her to find out.

Im curious to know if there are other dogs born around the same date and if they have any problems?

There are too many mistakes for her to professional...The male we picked out went to somewhere else and we got someone elses male, she sent us a sick bulldog, and none of them are under 50 lbs that she stated they would be. After sending you your dog she does not return calls or emails..hmmmm makes ya wonder doesn't it ? And for the lady in the first post. Good for you but for every good report there have been 100 bad reports from them. They are being charged by the police? Hello obviously they think they are doing something wrong too. Please don't belittle all these peoples suffering by saying they are just ###. You try having a sick dog that could die 3 days after getting it and see how you feel!

I'm really sad for all the pups and owners who has suffered because of these breeders. I purchased my bulldog back in Aug. 06. She is a happy, healthy 32lb. Bundle of Joy! I feel really blessed to have her having heard all of the bad reports of later bred pups. I have to say that when she was about 6 months she did have a cherry eye, which my vet said was very common in certain breeds of dogs(bulldogs, cockers, pugs, many more droopy eyed dogs). He put her to sleep and fixed her eye within 15-20 min($60). He said she would never have that again in that eye and she hasn't. I'm very sorry for all of you whom have had problems, but I am very happy with my pup. She is small and stocky and has a great personality. I give GOD all the glory for me having her and her being one the healthy dogs from that breeder. I originally picked out a different pup and the day before she was to be put the plane, Stacy called and said she had a heart murmur and she couldn't send her to me that I could choose another one. At first I was so disappointed I told her I didn't want another one to just send me my money back. She said ok. Well I really had been counting the days down until I got her and was so sad that I went back to her website and picked out another dog. She sent me lots of pictures of her and looking back now she was so much smaller than the 1st one I picked. I'm not sure if Stacey was lying or what but I do know that God was in control and I thank him everyday for her.

You are very blessed to have had a good experience, however many others are not "The Bulldog Exchange" and all its fake affiliates are under investigation, have been shut down and as of Saturday one of the owners "evan quintavella" is potentially looking at felony charges for moving out of his foreclosed home and abandoning a starving bulldog in a cage with no access to food. If you review the reports you will understand that your a lucky customer and many others have suffered major pain from these scam artists.

DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING THESE PEOPLE ARE SAYING... I have to say that The Bulldog Exchange has been wonderful to us! We got the puppy we asked for and he is happy and healthy ...and adorable. Our transaction with them was as smooth as can be. We could not be happier! We are thinking about getting another one through them. Just like anything else. On here you will probably hear people complain but do you ever here someone say they are happy? Like going into a store, if you get bad service, you tell 20 people, if you get good or ok service, how many do you tell? really? one? maybe 2? you are only hearing complaints here people. how about the hundreds that are extremely happy? loosen up and enjoy life... and your happy bulldog :)

HA! I picked out a pup from them that was a boy and then she called and told me it was girl and she apologized for any inconveince. When my puppy arrived "she" was a "he" again! I contacted Stacey to let her know. I kept the puppy regardless of his sex but thought it was very unprofessionalo f them to make so many mistakes.UGH! Luckily he is healthy and happy, but certainly not "mini" He is 70lbs!

wow, i am so grateful that i did not purchase from or give money from these people. I thought it was weird when Stacey was sending me pictures of "male" puppies and on their website the same picture listed the puppy as a female. I hope no one even considers getting a puppy from them! I had a couple of friends who were looking at their website.. i will be sure to warn them.
