Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org Charged with purple heart plates

On 3/17/2020 I received a toll bill in my mailbox stating I owed 35.94 cents for toll bill of 12.88 with additional non payment fee of 14.00 dollars in total 35.94. I called to explain the reason of me not paying the toll bill. I spoke to employee named Alex stating there was a huge error of the bill sent to wrong address not my actual address. Alex stated I had a balance of 375.00 dollars for other toll bills and late fees. With this new information I became extremely upset as you can imagine anyone would, as a good outstanding driver who pays their toll bill on time as seen from past records. Alex explained that they get their information from DMV which is how the address was incorrect. I then proceeded to question how that was my fault from another organization that y'all use in order to process your job accounts.in the end Alex was able to somehow bring my bill down to 100 and something dollars as he understood it was not my fault for not receiving the bill. I then proceeded to explain to Alex that I was under the impression since I am a disabled Purple Heart receipient displaying that exact information I was able to drive on toll for free as informed through media and your website when it was first approved not to long ago. Alex informed me that I would have to register my plates in order to drive on tolls for free. That itself frustrated me even more because how is it that a company not be able too see the plate that displays the information requiring/displaying as a disabled veteran Purple Heart recipient, demonstrating the vehicle as qualifying for the free toll. With this frustration and dissapointment I asked to speak to his supervisor or someone else who could maybe resolve this issue. I was transferred to someone else who stated that he also understood it was not my fault for the error of address been incorrect and me never receiving a toll bill. Supervisor was however able to bring the toll bill down to 75.00 dollars that he claimed were from the toll usage. I was very close to paying the 75.00 dollars but then realized that this was unjust and very unfair as it wasn't my error. I would pay triple the amount of just getting a toll tag which I would have if that was the case of me using the toll on a daily basis which I don't. I continued by asking the supervisor for information on who else I could speak to in order to resolve this issue. He state there was nothing else he or anyone else could do for me. I asked for information on how to take this into legal matters in which he smartly stated he couldn't advise because it wasn't worth while for the company. So my last resort was trying to send this email to somehow resolve this toll bill before going further in taking legal action and passing this issue to the media. As I was informed that this was the primary way people were informed about toll information. I undertstand that I did use the toll and should pay for the usage but in all fairness if I was informed by this information on my first usage/toll charge I would have quickly paid and been more aware of my usage of the toll. I would have certainly bought a toll tag instead of having to pay triple the amount.in the end I paid the 75 but have a huge grudge against using the toll. I feel as it's a system of corruption and needs to be done with. Now I'm advices too buy a toll tag so I can drive in the toll for free after registering my vehicle but what's the point to give more money to a system that will only continue to ask for more and more. Clear and simple the vehicle shows a disabled/veteran plate which should be considered legit as they also have the ability to look up the information as they do to send the bill. Overall very very disappointing they treat people this way over all veterans.

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org mistaken billing

In June 2019, I received an invoice from TxTag for allegedly driving on a toll road on 4/22/2019. I did not drive on any toll road on that date or any other. On the date in question, I was working in my office, all day, and on the opposite side of town. The invoice did not contain any evidence of my driving on this toll road photographic or otherwise. I paid the invoice and submitted a written dispute of the charges.
The only response from TxTag was to send me another invoice in September 2019 for late fees and additional charges on an invoice that had already been paid and disputed. I again paid the invoice and disputed the charges. I also disputed the charges by registered mail sent to the customer service center which they received on 9 September 2019. I have received no response from TxTag.
I have submitted two complaints/disputes directly to TxTag via their website. The first complaint was submitted on 13 October 2019 and the second on 27 October 2019. Despite their advertised assurance that there would be a response in 5 business days, I have received no response to either complaint.

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org billing practices are predatory and cannot be legal

I have used my Texas tag (Acct #[protected]) once in November of 2018. I had a prepaid balance at that time, but the link to my account failed and payment did not go through. Since that time I have tried to pay my bill several times to pay the $1.32 toll on 11/25/2018 that I accidently occurred by making a wrong turn. I do not live full time in my Texas home, as I have been forced to find work out of state. Therefore, the billing (sent via postal service) is very delayed in getting to me. Each time I send payments, additional exorbitant fees are levied on my account. I have sent payment in full several times with no luck. This type of predatory billing cannot be legal and I cannot get this account paid and closed no matter what I do… I have now paid more than $40 to try and settle this $1.32 toll. I really don't even care about all of the extra ridiculous fees I have already paid, I just want this account zero balanced and closed so I cannot be victimized in the future.

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org overcharged tolls by mail although I have a valid txtag account

The toll reader at MLK Mainline SB 04 and 51st Mainline NB 02 didn't read my TxTag but was able to figure out my license plate number but the information wasn't sent to TxTag. I received a pay by mail notice for the full fares plus a $1 processing fee. The notice also says I would have saved $2.83 if I had a toll tag (which I do!). On the chat with a TxTag representative I was told it was technology issue and I would just have to accept that as there is no way to have TxTag and this other company transfer the correct information. This is wholly unacceptable. TxTag customers should not have to pay more for a technology issue and what seems like a willful choice not to be able to reconcile charges in these.

I have to pay the full rate, but TxTag or the Mobility Authority should reimburse me the $2.83 difference in toll charges. In general, these companies should reconcile this activity even if it's not immediate.

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org Billing

On August 14th, 2018 my GPS dire cted me from Colorado to Katy Tx. I found myself on a TxTag tollway. I had to stay in a hotel until I found a apartment. Txtag sent the bill to my Colorado address. The bill was rerouted to my Texas address and was received on 11-25-18.The due date was on 11-24-18, I called customer service to explain but they charged a late fee anyway.I sent a check in on 11-25-18.The check was returned because the bank had to close the account due to stolen identity. TxTag charged
$35.50 for a returned check.I called customer service several times trying to resolve this issue. So, the bill escalated to $45.65 on November 2018.
Txtag continues to charge late fees monthly. The bill has increased to $ 78.25
and even though I filed a dispute statement on their website, I have not received feedback. So, the original bill of $ 5.15 has increased to $ 78.25.This is a scam .
Txtag will not negotiate the balance, this is outrageous. Please respond

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org Bill already paid

I received a my statement in the mail from TxTag stating that I owed a total of $5.54 (Statement #[protected]). I went on to TxTag's website to paid by credit card the full amount of $5.54. The Website had the amount owed of $10.69, so I paid the total amount $10.69 on 9/14/19 @11:04 am (Transaction #[protected])

Today I received another bill from TxTag on the same statement that I still owe $10.69, which was already paid. I thought that the billing must have been mailed off before the payment received. So I went to the Website which should be the most accurate billing cycle amount. The Website still states that I owe the $10.69.

This is not tight I paid this amount and I have a receipt that I paid the amount in full. I would like to have this corrected as soon as possible.

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org tx tag scam

TX TAG continually misleads customers about their balance, then months later hits them with exorbitant late fees. They don't give written communication of balances due, just a fee and warning of being sent to collections.
When I called to ask if my balance was clear, I was assured that it was. Then 5 months later I was told I actually owed thirteen cents, so my bill was being sent to collections unless I paid $17 additional dollars.
It is a scam. It is not how people should be treated. A quick search online shows that thousands of people have experienced the same.

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org txtag billing and payment system

Apparently there is a problem with TxTag system. Did not receive a bill for a prolonged time. Paid Fees that included late fees from 2015-2016 in 2018. Payment late? was added additional late fees no notice until bill had elevated from$1.50 to $44.95 … paid but received late again. Charge $1.66... again no notice until late charges accumulated to $32.99. that is 51 times the original amount...
I called today to find out about all of this. I was told regular bills had been going out but for some strange reason they never make it to my mail box until the bill has escalated. Are that really allowed to have a $1.50 late fee accumulate and end up collecting this total of $77.94... this system is ridiculous...

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org Toll bill

I received a bill yesterday for for supposedly travel through the Austin Area and the tag number is not even close to anything we own. We have not been to the Austin Area in years. Our last vehicle trade was in 2012 with a dealership, so I know the transfer was complete. There was also no photo at all showing the tag or make or model of the vehicle. When I keyed the account number on the bill into the website to check on it, it does not recognize the account number. Is this a scam?

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org Fraudulent toll bill

I was billed for a toll bill on April 12, 2019. At this time, I was in western ND. In fact, I have never been to Texas. They are fraudulently billing me for an event that never happened. I have attached an image of the fraudulent attempt at theft. I want to see an image of what they claim is my vehicle. If someone is using a fake license plate with my number I need to know. Otherwise, txtag is lying and trying to steal from me.
Statement number [protected]
Account number [protected]
I will not pay this toll as I have never been to Texas.

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org Billing

I have recieved a second statement with different account number two months ago. When I called they said it was because my tag was removed from my vehicle which is incorrect. Then I recieved it again with more fees and when I called how they say that its because of $6 toll from 3 and a half years ago! I'm sorry what?! Supposedly they were mailing me statements for those $6 for 3 years which I never recieved until 2 months ago! $50 something in fees for last month on those $6 plus new ones for this month. Absolutely NOT ACCEPTABLE! To top it off customer service supervisor was beyond rude and kept on interrupting me and just kept repeating himself even when I was trying to make sense of all this nonsense .

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org txtag tolls on 130 around austin from i-10 to i-35 in georgetown.

I have been overcharged several times when traveling from I-10 to I-35 on 130 toll road around Austin. My most recent travels were on June 7, 2019. The overcharge is on Bluebonnet Plaza NB and Skyline Plaza NB. I am pulling an RV fifth wheel, 42 feet in length. My TxTag # is [protected] and my license plate on my truck is TX KXX3399. I do not carry the fifth wheel's transponder in it as I was told by TxTag not to, it would be charged based on my truck's license plate. I have a total of four axles which show the total charge should be $44.32 and I got charged $51.71. Bluebonnet plaza charged me $20.24 and should have been $15.17 and Skyline Plaza charged me $9.27 and should have been $6.95. All charges from Mustang Ridge up to Georgetown are correct. When I reviewed the charges for June 7th, on some readings it shows my truck's license plate, and on others it shows the transponder ID. Please provide me an explanation as to why these charges do not match TxTag's own calculator for the same route and refund any excess charges please. My account # is [protected]. Walt Aldridge, 9852 Mulhouse Dr Schertz, TX 78154; [protected]. Thank you.

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org txtag customer service

The customer service in this department is unbelievably incompetent.

I received the attached email. Notice there is no claim number on it and a phone call must be made in order to process, but you need your claim number (8 digits). Also, the website says my account was closed due to inactivity so I must do this over the phone. However, when I called the number I received a prompt requiring me to answer if I was over 50 or not. I are REQUIRED to answer in order to proceed - then it takes you to a commercial for a Medical Alert Company and you cannot end the commercial until you speak to them. This is insane.

Then I called 1-800-654-3463 and spoke to a very nice person who was no help at all in trying to get my account re-actived so that I could pay the new balance. The phone message prompts me to stay on the line for a survey after the call. Which I did, but when you try to answer the questions by pressing the appropriate number - it does not register! It says "you have not answered the question". I have spent over an hour on this to do ONE THING - $20 to my account! And it's still not accomplished so I will just wait for the bill in the mail and not bother to claim the $11 in unclaimed property.

There is such extreme incompotence at ever level of this process - from data administration to website to phone prompts to overall processes. Someone at the executive level should lose their job.

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org late fees when I never received a bill

Account number: [protected]. I received two late fees on my txtag bill but I never received a bill to being with. My bill went from $2 to now $7 and when I spoke to 2 Tx tag representatives about getting the late fees waived they said it would not be possible and offered no assistance. They were rude and callous. This was a rare occasion that I used the toll and I will never use it again. What is ridiculous is that they have my email address on file but never bothered to send an email stating there was a late charge or bill. When I asked about this they stated the system automatically places the mailing address as a default payment delivery method. That is very convenient as they charge $1.15 to mail out a bill. This is ridiculous and fraudulent.

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org tx toll rd

I have been dealing with the Tx Tag institution for over a year now trying to resolve a billing issue which I thought was finally resolved in March. APparently not, as I just got another bill with more late fees for a total of nearly $50.00. My issues began a year ago when I had an issue with a HCTRA tag on my camper. I have a HCTRA tag on both my vehicle and my camper. HCTRA waived their fees and contacted Tx Tag according to their records and I called Tx Tag to resolve their portion. I paid what they asked and then still continued to receive bills. I paid again in March on 2019 and the fees were deducted from my bank. TxTAg is not claiming, they didn't get any communications from HCTRA, didn't get my payments, didn't have record of my last phone call in March, nor do they have record of the supervisor who called me two days after my last call to tx Tag to resolve my issue. I don't what's up with this agency, but the internet if full of complaints of the same nature going back years. I have been dealing with this one issue for over a year. All customer services says is they can't resolve this issue unless I pay MORE MONEY! That's not going to happen, however, maybe a good class action and a complaint with the Tx Attorney General might solve this agency's problems. SHut them down, gut it and start over again. Stop harassing me with bills, , late fees and threats of action for nonpayment. Ive' attached a record of my payment in March as proof you deducted money from my account. LEAVE ME ALONE ALREADY

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org txtag toll fee

This company has put fees on this account for any reason that they could drum up.
I have an EZTAG account and for some reason unknown to me and HCTRA they sent me a bill. Hctra got the fees waived because I had a working account with them and they had no idea why I was charged. After all this Txtag sent me some bill for mailing fee on a bill that I should not have been charged with. So I just sent them a check for the fees of $4.80. They then sent me another bill $6.10 because they said the check was for $4.00 and not $4.80. So I sent them an email of the check that I mailed them that said $4.80. They say that they didn't get that email and charged me $4.00 for a late fee on .80 plus a mailing fee of $1.00. Now I owe them $6.15 . Ok... Anyway after discussing this with for days on days, I just sent them the check for $6.15. Now in April they send me another bill for $9.15. They say a computer issue didn't put in that check for the balance in February. This company is running a con system and I just could imagine if this was for more money what they are doing to people.

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org customer service center

October 2018 I received a toll charge bill for a car I sold in 2016. I called TxTag Customer Service Center and told them it wasn't my car. They told me I'd have to fax them proof I sold it. So I got their fax number and sent them a cover letter explaining how I sold the car, who I sold it do and the date, and a photo copy of the title transfer and receipt proving I'd sold it. I called back a few days later and was told they didn't receive it. So I went back to the fax machine and sent it all over again. About a month later, I received another bill so I called them again and was told they never received it and that they would need an official document from the state of Oregon DMV of my title transfer (something no one I'd talked to previously had mentioned). Cool, so I had to ask my work for permission to leave, UNPAID, to go to my DMV, wait 30 minutes in line to pay $4 fee to request them to fax the paperwork. All was fine and dandy, paper was faxed. 2 days later I call TxTax to confirm and she says the document wasn't received. I ask why they have failed to receive a fax for the 3 time. She's semi-snotty to me and tells me it takes a week to sort through faxes and get them submitted. Cool. I follow up a month later on 3/21 when I receive yet another bill in the mail with all sorts of late fees tacked on. I'm done talking to customer service reps that can't do anything, so I ask the gentleman for a supervisor. I then end up waiting 15 minutes of my lunch break with no answer, to which I'm then told by the customer service rep they'll put me on a call back list since all supervisors are unavailable, and I will get a call back in 24-48 business hours. It's a Friday, so I know I have to wait until next week to get a call. Jump forward to the following Friday (today) 3/29 and still no call, so I take yet another lunch break to call this company instead of taking a break during my 50 hour work week. Marcus answers the phone, and he's a straight up sarcastic a hole to me. I'm already super frustrated with this 6 month long ordeal, and I'm talking loud and quick and instantly asking for a supervisor. He cuts me off to tell me per their notes that someone did call me back on 3/26 which is completely. No one called me back, I didn't talk to anyone, I don't have any voicemails or even a missed call. He says their notes say someone called and actually spoke to me to tell me I have to have my DMV fax the paperwork again and that I said I would. I tell him that that is completely false and that their company is falsifying phone calls and making them up and that no one called, to which he responds in a completely rude and sarcastically fake nice and mocking tone that "he's just telling me what his system says" to which I mimic his tone and say "and I'm telling you it's completely false and untrue." After a very aggressively fake tone back and forth with him where I request a supervisor and he tells me he'll try but that doesn't mean one will be there to talk to me, I eventually get transferred to a supervisor, Casey (pronounced Cassie). She's just as rude telling me there's absolutely nothing she can do. She constantly puts the blame on my DMV saying they never sent the fax since she doesn't have it, and I keep telling her they did send it and that I've sent faxes to and they're not getting it on their end so it's something wrong on their end, and she's still refusing to do anything or offer any other solution to this very clear problem of the fax not working on their end. I ask to be transferred to her supervisor. She denies my request. I ask for her last name or her email address. Denied again. I ask for her phone number to contact her in the future. Denied. I ask for her supervisor's name. Denied. I ask for "literally anyone above her or any other form of contact" and I'm denied again and told I can only call the toll-free number and ask for her. I ask for their business license number. Denied again. I'm crying through this whole conversation by the way, and by now I'm telling her I know none of it is her fault personally and I'm sorry for yelling but that I'm super frustrated with everything on their end and that I'm contacting a lawyer. She says to call back if I need any further assistance. We end the phone call. This company is ridiculous! Worst customer service I've ever received or even heard of, and I've worked in customer service since I was 15. I don't care how rude people were to me or if I couldn't help them or whatever the situation could be, I would never ever ever ever be so rude or snarky to someone like they just were to me. And this company needs to get organized because something is clearly wrong on their end if they've received multiple faxes from different fax machines on different days and they're not receiving them. I just want them to take my name off of this car record! I've exhausted my efforts and don't know what else to do as I've done the only things they told me I can do for this issue. SO frustrating!

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org billing

I paid my bill in Dec 2018 for the total amount showed to be owed. Did not receive another statement till Feb 2019 w/a balance of .69 plus late fee plus mailing fee. Called in & got everything resolved. Told I had a $0 balance. Got another statement today (March) w/late fees & mailing fees again. Now owe another $12. This is ridiculous & should not be allowed to happen. Mine is a small amount but there are thousands of customers having the same issue. Lawyers need ot be on this government run issue since no one else can even touch them.

Texas Department of Transportation / TxTag.org txtag late fee

Statement #[protected]. $4.00 late fee. I mailed my payment to TxTag on February 14, 2019. It was check number 6481. It was mailed at the post office with 3 other bills, check #6480, 6482 and 6483. Two of those additional bills cleared my bank on Feb 19th, the third on Feb 20th. The one sent to TxTag did not clear my bank account until Mar 8! Now, I am being charged a late fee even though I mailed the check more than 2 weeks prior to the due date. I called and asked Jacob (C0042782) if you scanned my envelope to see the post mark, but he told me that you destroy that information. I volunteered to send him copies of my bank statement showing the checks before and after this one cleared weeks earlier. He said no. I then asked him to stop sending me a bill so that the mailing fee would not be added, he said he couldn't do that either. Why cant you waive this fee when it is obviously not my late fee? One of your payment options is to mail a check. That's what I did! Please stop accruing late fees while this issue is being resolved.
