SuperiorPowersports.com Tao Tao 50cc scooter

Omg where to begin. I bought a 50cc scooter for my son for Christmas. It arrived in fairly good timeframe. We also paid for pre assembly. It arrived with a non working headlight.

We’ve had an absolute nightmare dealing with customer service ever since. They’ve asked for photos, videos, emails and voicemails detailing the issue. No resolution. They tried to say it was just a bad bulb, even though I’ve replaced the bulb, multiple times - hoping that was just the issue. It’s not. The headlight doesn’t receive power.

They most recently sent a replacement part - but sent the starter switch instead of the headlight switch!

Then hung up on me when I called back to complain - and actually said “well, the bike runs, so you should be responsible for taking it to a mechanic”.

They want me to take it to a mechanic - when it arrived brand new without a working headlight!?!

Would love some help from ANYONE that can resolve this issue. Worst customer service I’ve ever had in my entire life.

SuperiorPowersports.com scooter sold as lemon, warranty refused, bad experience in general

2016 Interceptor was purchased in early September 2015. The scooter was purchased with all the bells and whistles, including cover, lock cable, full assemble package, and extended warranties from the shop, not from the manufacturer.

It took two weeks for the scooter to leave for shipment from City of Industry. It took another week to be notified by a delivery company that the scooter is ready for delivery. We set up an appointment and waited around all day. The scooter never arrived. We called the delivery company and we were informed that the scooter had been transferred to another delivery company. We then set up another appointment with them. The bike took 3 weeks from purchase to arrive.

The scooter arrived mounted and wrapped badly to a completely rusted metal frame that sat on top of a broken palette. Note, you will need to dispose of this rusted frame yourself. It’s about 8 feet long and about 3 feet wide. Though Superior PowerSports tells you to inspect the scooter before finalizing the delivery the delivery company would not allow us to do so saying they did not have time for us to inspect the scooter.

After inspecting the scooter it was clear that Superior PowerSports (Ridewest) did not do anything to the bike to make it fully assembled (which we paid for. Pretty much everything outside of the internal components and wheel assemblies was loose. Some screws so loose they were about to fall out. The visor, mirrors, and seat were not attached as they were supposed to be. We spent hours putting things on the bike and tightening down loose items. Not very reassuring for a vehicle you need to drive down the road.

Further, the trunk, cover, and lock cable were no where to be found. I can add this into the timeline later, but I will just finish this off here. The cover and lock cable along with the registration paperwork was then sent to us from the company and 2 weeks later we were notified that it was “lost” in shipment. We did finally receive the cover and lock cable. The trunk, however, has yet to arrive (5 months after purchase).

Once the bike is received you start a process of getting the registration and licensing finalized with Superior PowerSports (Ridewest). As said above due to a “lost” shipment it took 3 weeks to receive this paperwork. We returned immediately, however it was 1.5 months from the purchase date before we had plates and the temporary registration.

Then it all got worse…

4 days into driving the scooter (at about 50 miles), the scooter broke down. Running great one minute, then choked died and left me on the side of the road. I was able to get it home with about ¼ mile runs and half hour rests.

We were informed by Gio at Superior PowerSports that this sounds like a carburetor issue and 1 month after the break down we received the new carburetor and paid a mechanic to have it installed. Another note here is that your warranty does not cover labor at any other shop other than the Superior PowerSports shop in Industrial City, even though they told us we could take it to any shop buying the warranty when we purchased the scooter.

So, new carburetor installed and scooter fires right up. I take it for several short trips knowing that with the bad carburetor the scooter would run off and on and wanted to be sure. All seemed good. I decided to take the bike about 4 miles away to the store and just before arriving, the bike choked and died, with no luck restarting at all. I pushed the scooter 4 miles back home.

We contacted Gio again and explained that this whole thing is ridiculous and the bike needs to be fixed. He then said it sounded like a bad battery. 1) The scooters run without a battery and mine would too, when it wanted to run. 2) I had the battery tested and the battery was good. Only to have Gio say again that he thinks it is a bad battery. I then talked to the mechanic that installed the carburetor and he advised it was most likely an issue of the onboard computer or incorrect wiring, but most likely the computer. I shared this information with Gio in a very detailed email. Gio then said he’d process the warranty for the computer and that I didn’t need to provide new pictures of the bike. You have to wait 10 days for the manufacturer to “approve” the claim. On the 11th day I contacted Gio who then informed that the warranty could not be processed due to pictures not being provided which all could have been taken care of 10 days earlier. So once again I took off all the bolts and took pictures of the internal of the scooter for Gio.

Long and short is that now Superior PowerSports will not authorize a warranty claim for the computer (which I found out was only $35 through a fight with Gio on the phone). They require that we take the bike to a certified mechanic to narrow down the issue. In effect hundreds of dollar to track a problem down on a brand new bike, when the most likely problem is the computer and without a new computer the mechanic will not know if that is where the problem is. Gio’s response is that this is what the manufacturer requires.

The truth is that Superior PowerSports is hiding behind the manufacturer in a covert way to not fulfill a warranty item, even though we purchased Superior PowerSports extended warranty. So we bought the computer full price. Confirmation of that order was received one week ago and we have yet to receive confirmation of shipment.

We will never do business with this company again. I urge you all to take your business elsewhere too. We have spent so many hours on this issue its not even funny. My gmail has over 70 email exchanges.

And if that doesn’t deter you.. Gio stated by phone that the parts in the bikes are cheap and they break easy or sometimes are defective from the get-go.

Beware!

SuperiorPowersports.com safety issue with product

*buyer beware* safety hazard*buyer beware*
I write this as a concerned us military officer for the safety of any soldier or civilian who may purchase anything from superior powersports. I bought a scooter online from superior powersports back in dec 2013. I went to the store in the city of industry, california to pick it up. fortunately, I test drove the scooter and found an abnormal clicking sound in the engine. the "mechanic" told me he did not know what the sound was so I went inside to get a refund. the sales manager, sarah, talked me into taking another scooter in the showroom. I test drove that one as well. the trunk made a weird rattling sound, but the "mechanic" told me it was fine. I took the scooter home. the second time I rode the scooter, the trunk ripped off the scooter and fell on the road. fortunately, there was no vehicle behind me and nothing in the trunk. when I picked up the trunk off the road and looked at it, there were two screw holes that looked broken, but the other holes were intact. out of the eight screws that were supposed to hold the trunk on its frame only two were screwed in. I called superior powersports to address this safety issue that their "mechanic" did not properly install the trunk (I even paid the extra money to have the scooter pre-assembled before I picked it up). I sent superior powersports the pictures they requested of the trunk, but got no response. I talked to brenda in the parts department, she told me she would call me back but did not. I then talked to sarah, sales manager, who sold me the scooter. she has promised to call me back on at least three different occasions but has not. for 5 months, I have been waiting for return phone calls and a resolution about the trunk. it's just a professional courtesy to for a business to do what they say they are going to do. this is lacking with this company. I saw the "f" grade it received from the bbb complaints as well as the other blogs. I should have looked carefully before I purchased from this company. I strongly recommend you find another company to do business with.

SuperiorPowersports.com faulty product, bad customer service

We ordered our son a Trailmaster 150cc XRS gokart for his Christmas present.
1) We were told by the sales representative that it was very easy to assemble and it was NOT! There were no assembly instructions with the go kart.
2) When we finally got it assembled it would not crank at all!
3) When we finally got it to crank it was only temporary. . .
4) On Christmas Day my son was only able to use it for a few hours and then it would not run again...would not crank.
5) Called superior power sports tech department and was told they would call me back the next day and they did not. Therefore, my son had to go through the holiday season without using his new Christmas go kart.
6) After the holidays, when there offices reopened I still did not get a call back and I had to call again.
7) When I called and actually talked to someone their tech guys did not have any knowledge of the Trailmaster and sent me on a wild goose chase where I had to speak to 3 different tech people. After hours of conversations, trouble shooting over the phone, and waiting for techs to call me back...
8) Finally figured out it was something wrong with the starter relay...or the solenoid...or ? - they really don't know.
9) They are sending me a relay switch hoping that is the problem (it does come with a 3 month warranty)
10) For all the trouble we have gone through with this brand new $2000 go kart - we asked their customer service representative if they could give us some form of compensation (e.g. our suggestions: a gokart cover, an extended warranty, some financial credit to our account, etc)
11) Their response to our suggestions was that they would not do anything! They did say they could give us a $30 discount on a 6-month extended warranty (normally $60)...LOL!
12) SO I PURCHASED A $2000 GO-KART FROM SUPERIORPOWERSPORTS.COM THAT DIDN'T WORK OUT OF THE BOX AND THEIR COMPENSATION TO US WAS ---- WE WILL SELL YOU AN EXTENDED WARRANTY! LOL!
13) WE WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN AND WE STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU LOOK ELSEWHERE!

I have ordered, but not yet received, a Verona motor scooter from Superior powersports. Like others. I was promised a false delivery date of 1/2/13 and have yet to receive even a shipping confirmation. I was told on the phone, but received no confirmation, that it was shipped yesterday, 1/714, but again no email confirmation, so far today. I was told that due to our three hour time difference, I should expect shipping confirmation "around 6 p.m." today, 1/8/14. The explanation for the 6 day shipping delay (assuming it was indeed shipped yesterday, 1/7/14, was "due to the New Year's holiday and vacations of sales personell through 1/2/14" (the earilar promised, but not performed, "delivery date"). I was further advised that I would be notified by the "shipper"(unidentified) of when actual delivery would occur. Having read similar complaints of damaged or poor quality and inadequate/incompetent service techs, I would not order a motor scooter on line anywhere, but certainly not Superior powersports, of a Chinese made product with a American distributor, but rather from a locally reputable dealer. WISH ME LUCK on a suspect scooter!

Okey here's the deal.. I spoke with 4 different sales people prior to making a purchase. Tim, Jacob, Emily, and Timothy. Timothy sold me 2 150cc scooters and insisted I purchase the extra PDI tune up and crate for a better shipping experience. They had taking about 2 weeks to arrive ( fair enough) from time of payment and allowing a 7-8 day waiting period...

SuperiorPowersports.com wont stand behind sales or product...

This dealership baited me with a sale by asuring me it would be shipped out next day, in stock and ready to go. It didn't arrive for over three weeks.

The unit arrived damaged... They were responsible for replaceing damaged bumpoer and metal fram behind it. Wont return six different emails sent to six different addresses over a course of two weeks.

Their website domain is hidden in a private carriers name, so unless you are law inforcement you can't find who owns it. Plus it is only a one year purchase. What company would tak ethe chance of having an internet sale company with only a one year option on their website.

They are a scam and flyby operation from the start. Buyer beware... Lots of excusses why my atv wasn't shipped, but non made good sense.

Update by Vision Express -Wrag Time More Complaint
Dec 20, 2011 1:29 pm EST

Just an update... it has now been just shy of two years, the ATV we purchased has about 2 hours of run time on it... yes I said two hours... The machine was supposed to be adjustable, so that it could be throttled down to a speed where young kids could ride it. If your property looks like the salt flats, that might be possible, but here we have rolling hills and to throttle the machine down enough to make it safe for a child, it wont go up any kind of grade. Adjust it to go up a grade and it will do 20+ mph on the flat. Just not safe for the age group we purchased it for.
Now after sitting, I've had to replace the battery, not their fault, and still can't get the thing to run right. Maybe varnish from old fuel, again not their fault, but I can't find anyone to service it for me around here. That... well perhaps that is my fault... I have a very new looking; ATV my daughter wants to ride, and no way to make it happen for her.
Buyers beware... Service techs seem more then willing to work on Japanese units, but not Chinese units. Spend your money cautiously.

We bought a LEMON. The Tao Tao 50cc scooter was for our son's birthday. It has never ran correctly. The company DOESN'T HELP your fix the problem. They don't call you back nor do they stand behind their warranty. The moped cost more to try and repair it then it did buying it, and it still didn't run right. We ended up buying another moped that stands behind their product. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

I am so saddened by the fact that I didn't do the proper research BEFORE I purchased from these clowns because these stories sound EXACTLY like the experiences that I've had, and am having with SUPERIOR POWERSPORTS since I purchased from them back in September 2014. Initially, when I placed the order, "Art" (the sales rep) assured me that they had the color of the scooter that I chose. All of a sudden, after they cleared all the charges for the cycle, the color of the bike that I wanted was back ordered, and they don't have it in stock...so I had to settle for what they had in stock (LIE #1). Then, after the order was processed (which took about a week), I was told that it would take about 3 days for it to arrive at my residence which is about 8 hours away...I didn't receive the package until about 3 1/2 weeks from the time I was told that (LIE #2). Now comes the processing of the title and license plate with the DMV. They explained that they would process the information (for a fee that they charge), then mail it to me. Once again, I was told that they would process the paperwork on Friday...and I should receive the license plate and title within 7-10 business days, this took another 3 1/2 weeks (LIE #3), so now I have a bike that's just sitting and collecting dust because I can't legally ride it to even check it for defects. I was told that it would arrive "FULLY ASSEMBLED"...I had to attached a few of the parts (LIE #4). I couldn't get it started until I figured out that they didn't connect a carburetor hose that leads to the gas tank. When it's come to ordering parts from them, it doesn't get any better, the ability to provide proper customer service, call backs, follow ups, information, or to tell the truth, just doesn't exists. They make a habit of not answering any other business than the "new orders" extension. Also, they'll put you on hold (on the phone and the chat service on their website) and never come back to the phone. Currently I'm waiting for a refund for some parts that I ordered in January (this is currently April) that they have yet to deliver. They claim they can't return my money to my credit card because "it's been more than 60 days since the purchase of almost $200 was made". I've complained to the BBB, and reported the most recent issue to my bank as a fraudulent transaction. I get many inquiries regarding where I purchased my cycle but refuse to refer folks to this company due to my experiences. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS...I'VE REGRET EVER COMING ACROSS THEIR WEBSITE. I wish I would've purchased elsewhere. BE ADVISED!

I purchased a 110cc atv for my son on the 30th of may when I didn't receive a confirmation email with 2 days I called to find out what was going on because they had already taken the money from my account. They told me that they were "busy with orders" and that is why I hadn't received it yet. They finally emailed me theat but couldn't tell me when my order was to be shipped. They said they had to send my order to their 2nd warehouse and they "wouldn't answer the phone" so they didn't know what was going on. Finally 11days later they tell me that they don't have any in stock ad they there order is being held up at customs. When I order it NEVER said anything about it being out of stock so they were just blowing smoke up my butt when they told me my order was being filled in a 2nd warehouse. When I requested my order be cancelled theey told me it was going to take another 5 days to get my money back...wth! But now after reading all of these complains I'm so worried theat I won't be getting my $600 back anytime soon and this was a birthday present for my son and we just don't have another $600 lying around to order him another one until we do get our money back :(. Hoping I don't have to deal with the attorney general with my problems

up and crate for a better shipping experience.

They had taking about 3 weeks to arrive ( fair enough) from time of payment and allowing a 7-8 day waiting period for them to prepare for shipment. Timothy also said that when they arrive all we need to do is put gas in them as they would be ready - set - go... NOT TRUE AND HERE'S WHY

Once delivered the colors were exact as i ordered ( red and orange ). They arrived on a palet with just the standard cardboard covers with the cheap steel shipping frames that come from china. Lucky i was as they arrived in pretty good cosmetic condition. Of course at this point i was looking at the scooters on the truck as the driver was removing the cardboard so he could handle them better.

Upon inspection and removing the scooters from the steel frames, i noticed a front tire/wheel was damaged along with the luggage racks on BOTH scooters where paint was chipped off. THEY DID NOT MAKE A SPECIAL CRATE LIKE I PAID FOR AND I PAID 300.00 EXTRA FOR 2 SCOOTERS TO BE IN SPECIAL CRATES.

OH ! It gets worst, , so then i start checking the mechanics that they promised ( PDI TUNE UP ). THE SPARK PLUGS WERE NOT REPLACED WITH NGKS AND BOTH SCOOTERS WERE UNDER 1 PINT OF OIL. ( capacity should be just under a quart when full). I should of NEVER HAD TO DO THIS because i paid SUPERIOR POWERSPORTS the addtionall fees for the Tune up! All the tires had about 8pds of air and should be about 30psi.

Its been about 10days since delivery and still NO TITLE and when i call they keep Lying like they do so well.

I filed the online Damaged Parts Claim a week ago for the tire/wheel replacement and still waiting on a Return shipping label.

If you purchase from SUPERIOR POWERSPORTS you will most likely have big issues with how they handle customers and that is hoping/praying your item arrives safely. FOLKS... it is a horrible experience and we were going to tell our friends about possibly buying from them. NO WAY ! We're also considering filing claims with the BBB and the calf AT General.

One more piece of info TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING and right from the Truck it arrives in. we did..!

I will also come back here and do a follow up.

My niece purchase a 125cc ATV from them, paid for them to put it together. They received the unit but it run very bad, will not race up. After several calls they wanted to a video sent to them of the unit; no way to send a video. Then they wanted the motor removed and sent back to them. Do not have the tools to do that. This was suppose to be for Christmas gift for their son. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! They are still getting the run around. Will not return calls. Will check into if selling out of California the Attorney General will help.

As of right now I am also stuck in a delema. My fourwheeler was purchased on 12/15/10. And it is now 7/16/11. I did recieve it in good "looking" conditon, but "poor" running condition. It literally ran for 10 minutes, and that was it. Now I do mechanic on various pieces of equipment, from backhoes to weedeaters, and understand full and well that there is a break in period, and really to just take care of thing's. I have talked to Josh numerous times, both on the phone and through e-mails and we have tried various approaches in getting life back to this fourwheeler with no such luck. My approach initially was to be very understanding and professional, but unfortunatlly both are running out. In my opinion Josh does do the best he can. But as a company I feel as though his hands are tied, but I have asked to speak to a manager or someone in charge and that has never happened, I was trying to resolve the issue by saying " I'll send the faulty product back, and you send me a different one or return my money." And was told "My warranty was well expired and that kind exchange was no longer possible." I really thought that approach on my part was fair. On their part I thought it stunk. I bought this little fourwheeler as a test product for future purchases, as I was considering on becoming a possible dealer in my area for their product, well needless to say I have now decided that the lack of professionalism and lack of customer service may have helped make my decision. But I am still giving them the opportunity to correct this matter, but that opportunity is quickly running out!

I Contacted Superior Sports to order a ignition switch. I asked Josh how much for the part. He just told me to send it in for warranty so i did. A week later he told me it was not under warranty and was not covered. I told him that i never asked him in the first place for warranty i just wanted to know how much so i could get one. Well he did get me Warranty replacement and when sent i told him my new address and he sent it still to my old address. Now this is 3 weeks later and on its way back to them. Well now i will have to wait again a couple weeks to get the part. But at this point i assume i will not get it. Or maybe it will be the wrong one even with sending in my old one for them to see it. I will not order form them again as they do not follow up on anything.
I have contacted them many times on this and well i still do not have it.
