Subway disturbed by recent subway commercial - advertisement

I was watching CBS this evening and during a commercial break, I caught one of your commercials that was just disturbing. It was one where a couple (don't remember if they were married or not) were sitting out on a blanket watching the stars. The girl asks to make a wish together. Apparently the guy wishes that his girlfriend becomes a Subway sub because she all the sudden transforms into one.

What kind of message are you trying to send to people? That your subs have more worth than someone's girlfriend? That is low. Very low. And I refuse to eat at any of your restaurants again until you remove this terrible commercial from the airwaves.

Sincerely

I think you have it all wrong...I think the guy was in a romatic mood, under the stars with his virgin girlfriend and he wished that he can eat her...and the only way for that wish to come true was to turn her into a sandwich.

Subway welcome to america, now speak english!

This subway is close to my job so my co-workers and I were pretty much regulars here. Not anymore though. I went once and ordered a BLT, and since 3 people were waiting on my order who all did not speak sufficient English I didn't notice the lack of LT. I came back with a B. No LT. Just bread and bacon. Seriously? Every time they slack on ingredients, no one speaks English well. Or at all for that matter. I moved here from another country, learned the language and adjusted, now please do everyone a favor and do the same!

For your information, all of the sandwiches at subway are open-ended. Meaning, YOU CHOOSE WHAT YOU PUT ON THE SANDWICH.
Were you watching them as they made your sandwich? Did you explicitly say you would like to add lettuce and tomato?

If you didn't, I would highly suggest preening your own communication skills. Don't blame an employee working a ### minimum-wage job to support his or her family.

shame on you.

This is partially your fault. You tell them what you want on it, and WATCH them make it. Also, a BLT doesn't have to have Lettuce and Tomato at Subway. It's called a BLT because the only meat on it is bacon. You choose what veggies you want on it. Granted if you wanted "the basics" they should have put only lettuce and tomato on it, but you should have been there when they were making it.

This is a little different if it was a call-in order. In that case you should make sure that they know exactly what you want on it. They might make a mistake, or you might forget to mention it.

I personally work with Phillopinoes at my store and some people do complain, but from what I have gather it is only the people who have trouble understand THEM who complain, because they get frustrated with their accent. Also, people need to learn to speak up when visiting Subway. The toasters and ovens are very noisey so it can be difficult to hear the customer at times.

I don't understand. Whenever I go to Subway, I watch while they make my sandwich, since they ask what veggies and condiments I want. I have never seen a customer order and walk away from the counter while their sandwich was being prepared. this being my experience, I must ask, did you watch them put your sandwich together, and if so, did you not notice when they failed to put the LT on your BLT?

You are so right. Once I called HSBC bank and I could not understand their English. I asked for a person who speaks English and they told me that they were speaking in English. I told them it was not the type of English I understand and they finally put on a different person. When I was in grammar school in Bronx, NY back in the early 70's, some kids came for other countries and didn't speak English at all. They were taught separately in the back of the room with a teacher's aid. In a few months they were speaking perfect English. Now they have bi-lingual classes to cater to their needs. They will never learn the language that way.

Subway $5 sub

On my lunch i went to the Subway Restaurant on 6133 South Blvd, Charlotte NC 28224. I bought two 6inch subs( cold cut and chicken bacon ranch). I didnt know that they were footlong February until I got to work and my friends told me. So i called the store to tell my complaint and the Manager comment was, " So what do you want me to do about it". She never once appologize or offered me the other half of my sub. She was so rude and uncaring. She told me well if you want the other half of the sub you will have to buy and said she was busy. I will never go back to that store and I will tell everyone at work. I will also place the incident on the board at work.

I have heard several people talking about eating at Subway. I told him about the incident and he said it was partly my fault for not reading the signs. I told him be better not come back with Subway or I would put an anonymous note in the manager's office saying he is sexually harassing me. Another was a mother of an eight year old boy and seven year old twin girls(fratinal)also wanted to order from Subway. I told her if she brought food from Subway that I would call CPS and say that she beats her children. She told me to take a hike and has not talked to me ever since, especially since I just said that to scare her into changing her mind.

I don't lie so I did not make false reports to these people, but I was hoping with my threats that they would listen to me.

If you order 2-6 inch sandwiches that are different its not up to a Subway sandwich maker to tell you everything is $5.00 A 6" sandwich is still cheaper. Show some accountability yourself...They gave you what you ordered...unless your a complete ### and can't do the math.

FIRST of all, Sir/Ma'am, or WHOever you are,
Number One: There are MULTIPLE signs on the menu, the door, as well as window clingings that advertise for FebruANY. It is extremely rude, disrespectful, and childish of you to call and complain because of your ignorance and negligence to take notice to ANY of the signs. And if you want to whine because the Sandwich Artist who was making your sandwich didn't advertise it to you, take notice: Some owners forbid their employees to upsell to footlongs during the month of February to cut down on ordering costs.
Number Two: The Owner should have handled the situation professionally, but she does have her own store and may run it as she pleases.
Number Three: You are COMPLETELY childish, ignorant, selfish, and stupid to harass and threaten theses individuals, simple as that. If you want to act like that, there's a good chance that you're not taken seriously in life. and that makes me sad for you.

Face it, its YOUR OWN FAULT that you CHOSE to miss out on the deal. Maybe this will teach you to use your eyes and be more observant.

lol, so because you can't read you wanna come back and get more food? I mean c'mon people. It's completely stupid that you would even think we would say yea come on back and get another 6inch. 1st off, during that month the place is a disaster, subway corporate offices have terrible layouts for the rest of the franchises. In ways they tell owners to run their stores. yea just have 2 people run the store all day have em work like they're getting paid 20 dollars an hour, but pay em minimum wage that's it. There are no pay raises. 2nd have you ever gone out to eat at another business, and after you order said actually i missed that special can I get more food for free? No you haven't because subway has it laid out so everyone get's how much of whatever they want. The only people who come in to subway are greedy individuals like yourself. Here's an example guy comes in says he wants 2 footlongs, they are still 2 for 5 right, no sir if you READ the sign its after 4, oh well I'll just take one then lol

Subway rude employers

i used to work for subway the one next to buntings warehouse in nerang and they would have had to have been the worst people i have ever come across in the work place and out.

they were verbally abusive not just to me but my fellow team mates, if we were sick and provided them with a docs cert they would call us liars and make us start at 6am
if we went on holidays they would punish us by a weeks worth of 5-6am morning starts if we were even 2 mins late to start they would yell at you, if you wanted a day of they would complain and more then likely make you work, on our days off she would call and make us work on our days off then not give us another day off for a whole week. i told them i was doing a course and the male owner began to yell at me in front of my fellow workers which was obviously embarrassing, i just advise no one to work for those monsters, if they fire you or you quit they wil more then likely try and get out of paying you your last pay as they are doing that to me and have done to some other employees that i know off.

Subway I will no longer support this business

After leaving one of the two Subway's in our town because they had absolutely No cheese, in a sandwich shop! My wife & I went to Subway at Walmart. Didn't have the bread I wanted. Out of 3 of the 4 cheeses offered, no onions & there is a supermarket 30 feet away. So I paid almost $9.00 for this sandwhich full of attitude & excuses from the girl behind the counter who didn't want to hear how I felt about it. She then tossed my sandwich towards me & proceeded to have a meltdown. When a company spends the kind of money Subway pays for their extensive ad campaigns to entice us to try their new products. They need to spend a little more on operations & employee training. There was no manager in the shop to answer my questions. Subway must feel comfortable leaving their billion dollar business in the hands of emotional 17 year olds. I will no longer support this business!

I can see this being true I've worked for subway almost
3 years and for the first 1.5 things were good and proper. Now I am the only
Person who washes their hands properly all the time and I've seen everyone there do unethical things like touch food without gloves. One person is very bad he will touch a garbage can and then touch food without hand washing or Gloves it disgusts me. And to the judgmental commenter would you be so quick to blow your whistle if you had a family to support and work was as scarce as it is now. What if you did this and other fast food owners and managers heard about it and refused
To hire you. Don't be so quick to judge because I'm sure your far from perfect or even
Close to as righteous as you perceive yourself to be

Subway hostile owner

If you order a basic item, and the sandwich apparently adds more toppings, without asking you what you want - expect to pay for it! At least that's what the owner of Lynchburg Virginia's Subway's commands. After over a year and a half of doing business with some great sandwich makers and managers, with no problems - today was my day.

I ordered a new sandwich for the first time. The sandwich maker was new, and had to read the instructions. No problem. I just wanted the plain sandwich (e.g. Veggie Delight), and "whatever comes with it" I said. So she prepares the sandwich, and all looks great. Then when it comes time to check out, it was rung up for 25% more. I politely asked, "why the price difference, I don't mind paying the additional cost, but can you tell me why it is that and not the price you all have posted?" She didn't know why it rang up that way. After a minute, and her asking someone else, the "owner" comes out.

I ask the same question, and he informs me I got the "Signature". (I'm thinking, what is the Signature, I just wanted that simple sandwich.) I point to the large picture on the board with the sandwich and price that I asked for. He barks back, but you have all of these extra toppings. I felt bad, because the lady who made the sandwich did not ask me, but I didn't want to throw her under the bus and get her in trouble. Unfortunately, the owner kept on going, and started being sarcastic and rude. I tried making a simple comparison, something along the line that if I ordered a pepperoni pizza, and the person making the pizza added on extra toppings, without customer authorization, why would they expect the customer to pay for that. Of course he didn't get it, and kept sarcastically defending himself, "you see where I am coming from? They made you this sandwich, that is why you are charged that!" (Sighing) By this time, 5 more people were behind us. "Fine, " he tells his nice employee, just refund his money $0.50. (I didn't even care about the .50 cents, I was only wondering why the price difference, and explaining I didn't want the added cost - it was really just an FYI on my part. But, he had to keep going! Trying to explain the already explained.

He comes out from behind the counter and continues his heated comments. I kindly asked if I could get the owner of the store's information (at this moment I didn't know he was the owner), which he replied I'm talking to him. So, I asked then if I could have his business card, to which he replied, "I'm right here, why should I give it to you?" (This is unbelievable! Obviously the guy is having a bad day!).

So, I leave and then he asks for my name in a threatening manner. So, with nothing to hide, I tell him, even spelling out my last name. (Was he wanting to look me up, conduct some background check on me? Either way, it was just adding to his hostile attitude).

So, as I leave I decide to see if I could relay this (not so pleasant) experience back to Subway, just "for the record". I was informed, that Subway relays all complaints only back to the owner. (LOL!) So, I asked HQs, "if an owner spits in your face, you don't take the complaint - even though they have a franchise agreement and are carrying your brand - Subway not take note of that and only forward it back to the owner who spit in your face." Yes. That's what happens at Subway. Amazing!

So, since they don't take a complaint, I thought there is no better place to air grievances than to other consumers. For me, I will continue to do business at his stores (first, because the fool owns all of them and I have no choice ((ha)) - unless I totally boycott Subway while I live here - ; second, I've never had to deal with the guy until now, and chances are I will go another year and a half without seeing him again (crossing fingers).

What comes most of a surprise, and the main reason for this post, is that Subway Headquarters will only forward your complaint back to the owner. This is understandable for those who have issues with their experience with other staff, but not if your issue is with the owner him/herself. So, Subway's policy is - If the owner treats you wrong, deal with it or go someplace else. : )

I am disabled & went into subway with my daughter.I requested a soft pretzel which my daughter asked for.She was told they did not know if they had pretzels. Then did not check to make sure.I went back to employee to ask for the soft pretzel.I was totally ignored-They were not waiting on any cust's but chatting between each other & looked my direction & continued ignoring me.I have a hard time standing due to my disaility & was hurting while waiting & finally after 5 minutes standing there waiting for assistance. The girl behind counter, finally asked what I wanted & acted like she had no idea what I was talking about when I asked for a soft pretzel & said if they had some-it would be where sandwich meat was.I know that is not true since I often go to subway.I seen the soft pretzels & was told it was only for display. The women looked at me rudely & simply didn't feel like doing thier job.

I'm a teenager and I had a very rude Subway service.

It was on a Wednesday, and I was staying after school like I always did and was picked up by my sister in late afternoon. We were in the car and I asked her what my mom had planned for dinner, she said my mom didn't have anything planned yet. I suggested we get subs. We picked up my mom at her work and drove to the Subway right down the street. My mom and sister wanted subs from somewhere else so my sister gave me money and let me go in. As I walked in, there was a man who was helping another man with his sub and was giving me a dirty look. I walked up to the counter and waited for him to serve me. When he finished with the gentleman he was serving, he came over and just stared at me. He didn't even ask me what I wanted, which I found quite rude. After hesitating slightly, I said "I'd like a foot long Italian Herbs and cheese." He turns around and gets the bread and cuts it like he's supposed to. I told him "Can you make that chicken terryaki please?" He stayed silent and put on the chicken, then asked "Would you like it toasted." "Yes, please" "What kind of cheese?" "American" again silence. He slaps the cheese on rather agressively and then puts the sub on the tray and puts it into the oven. He stayed by the oven with his hand on the handle and looked near the front of the store, and gave me a dirty look while it was cooking. I pretended not to notice by just casually looking at the menu above. He came over and set the sub down and stared at me again without asking what I wanted. I said "A little bit of lettuce, and a little bit of onion" He added them. "And that's it." "No sauce?" "No thank you" and he packed up the sub. I scooted down as another employee, a female, ringed up my order and I payed for it. As I handed her the money, he seemed to toss/drop the sub on the counter and turned and walked away like I didn't even exist. I was very dissatisfied with Subway's service. I honestly believe that Subway needs to hire more respectful employee's.

"It's not my fault that I am picky..."

Then who's fault is it? Certainly not the workers. People who are overly picky seem to think they have a right to having everything their way and if it's not up to their standard than it's garbage. Perhaps, instead of being a picky, selfish human being, you could understand that you should be glad that you even have the POSSIBILITY of being picky. Just because you leave in a country that has an abundance of food and money doesn't me you should be a complete and utter pain. WHY are you so picky? Is there a reason besides the fact that you believe that you deserve what you demand? Maybe you should stop being so demanding and take things as they are and understand that other people, even if their job is to wait on you, are still human beings. Deal with it you stuck up American.

Subway eat fresh? eat dirty!

Subway has a fridge full of expired food. They always just change the labels. They never actually make fresh food. They fill up the food area too much so the top food isn't getting cold. The bread they keep using they don't throw away when it gets hard, they still serve it.. Subway is so nasty, and dirty, and gross, and unprofessional. They don't wash veggies or change their knifes or sanatizer water! REALLY GROSS. They don't even temperature their food, they fake it, so they could be in the danger zone, but they fake it to pass inspection! THEY also had expired chips they were selling.

Subway unhygenic and dirty

I frequent the Westbrook mall in Calgary South West. The worst subway is located in this mall. The staff are very dirty and unhygenic - and they jabber a lot being from the phillipines in their language. Recently i have seen a new caucasian lady (perhaps manager) very rude and equally unhygenic. There hair is uncovered and of course there are strands of it in the sandwich.

Canada health needs to conduct periodic and regular checks of these fast foods in malls. Fortunately there are no serious outbreaks of illness - just minor diarrhoea.

Subway in westbrook mall shld either be closed down or given to a better class of management.

Subway false advertisement, rude & wanted to argue

My husband went in subway with coupon that says-free 6"sub. Buy any regular sub with fountain drink, & get any regular 6" sub of equal or lesser price free. He wanted a what was on there but a 6" cold cut free. No! They became rude and wanted to argue. The business had a lot of people in it. Think how this made this business look. This is false advertisement. We won't be back and we will tell our family and friends how he was done. Think what the customers were thinking when they seen and heard this..

Same thing in Glenolden, PA tonight! Had a "buy a 6" and a 30 oz. fountain drink, get a free 6" sandwich." The coupon shows $4 maximum value. No problem... I order two sandwiches and figure I'll pay the 25 cents on the lower priced $4.25 sandwich. The owners argued with me quite rudely with seven people in line behind me about how the coupon could only be used for the few sandwiches that are under $4 on one of their boards. I'm rarely riled enough to argue, but this went on ridiculously. I refused to buy the second sandwich and got to the point where I told them that I'd be walking out paying for NO sandwiches. Ultimately I bought the one sandwich... no drink, I won't be back and I've already told many friends. No one understands why the coupon wasn't valued at $4 against my bill.

Subway lying employer

My 17 year old daughter got her first job at Subway @1464 Mentor Ave in Painesville, Ohio. She worked there for 6 weeks. She was given a week off without explanation. She was given a schedule to return to work on 12/01/11. She worked her shift on Thursday and went in on Friday to get her paycheck. When she went in to get her paycheck she was told that she would not receive her paycheck because Vick was accusing her of stealing.

It is not in my daughters character to do this. She is a very responsible young lady. I have involved the Lake County sheriff to help in this matter. I have called corporate in regards to this matter and I am contacting a lawyer. Misty has had time to contact other people she knows that have worked for Vick and has been told there is a list at the National Labor Relations Board of people alleging the same thing has happened to them.

This man has got to be stopped. He cannot fire our kids and keep their paychecks! It is against the law.

Misty worked for him for several weeks without a work permit. We initiated the procedure of getting one. We have the Dr. physical and her pertinent information parts of the permit filled out. Misty took the form to Vick the day before she was fired for him to fill out. Now all the sudden she is a thief? I think not. Please help! I would like to add that due to Vick’s actions Subway has lost a very good and dedicated worker. Misty loved her job! Just look at the pic I sent. She was beaming with excitement!

Subway never used voucher, but they marked it as redeemed

I bought a $10 Subway card for $5. I haven't used it yet, it expires in 2016. I check it one month after purchasing it and it has been marked as used. I tried to contact them numerous times, but it never works.

Subway bad attitude with customers

I came twice to subway located at address mentioned on top for a dinner . There was a lady from Philippians's working there had a bad attitude . She does not experienced and not qualified at all to be there. As a customer I have the right to ask for suitable meals but I got ignored by this one. I have the right to ask whether this meal comes with a drink, lays or even cookies. I really don't have say much, the employee should ask if I want to buy so and so. And not only that, she does smile to customers just like the guy who was working with her on the same night. I'm so upset I will never go there again with friends . I like subway but I guess I have to go somewhere else to my meal and so are my friends. I hope this goes to man in charge and fire people like this. This happened on the 29th of NOV, 2011 around 6:30pm and again same day around 10:35 pm. Good day

Subway very embarrassing situation

My son and I ordered a meatball sub and a glass of water and sat down to eat when I had counted my change from a $20 and there was only $13.08 left, so I made sure the footlong was $5 and went back up to ask for a receipt, He said he did not have one. So I said why was it $7 and he said I had water, and the cup he gave me was a small clear 6 oz solo cup, not a subway cup, no lid or straw and charged me $1.50, gave me 2, I assumed it was free since it was a clear cup and didn't notice at the time I had paid $1.50 for these very small water cups, I order water at other establisments all the time and if they do charge for water it is in one of their cups which for a fair price I do not mind paying for. So after that I told him I did not want it, he told me you already put water in it and would not give me my money back, he was very very rude and laughing at me and told me no. Then I said if I am going to pay please give me one with a lid and straw and he said no. After being sooooo rude, I then said I do not want the sandwich either just give me my money back for everything. He said no. So then I tried to sit and eat and was just getting very angry and we left. As I was driving away I just kept getting more angry and went back and pulled right up front and went in. He instantly picked up the phone and called the cops again and said you are not allowed in here ever again. I asked him fine just give me the money back for the water and he would not do it, so I took a dollar from him and walked out. I know I should have handled or could have handled it a little better but I was infuriated and very very embarrassed in the way they treated me and just wanted my money back, I never cussed him but wanted to. This was a very embarrassing situation that could have been avoided if he would have just given me a receipt or given me my money back for the water, the sandwich was thrown away because I was too upset. This may not be a big deal to some people and I may drag some things out but I feel I was robbed, he also only gave 2 napkins with a meatball sub which if you eat the meatball know you have to have more, he gave me one more and said thats all he could do, that is absoulutely ridiculous, just thought I would throw that in also. This whole situation is soooo ridiculous and am still so angry and this was 10 hours ago.

@Sailon: $1.50 is obsurd. At the Subway I work at, when/if we charge for cups it's only 10cents before tax. And as for the 2 napkins rule? If a customer asks for more the employee is suppose to give more. It's rude and greedy on the part of the franchisee to tell their employees anything otherwise.

Thay being said, this complaint is very hard to believe.

I work at a subway and They have every right to charge for the cup. they have to payy for the cup don't they. each subway chooses their own prices. Bring your own cup next time. You should never assume it's free.

It seems unusual that you didn't get a receipt and then have the cashier claim there isn't one. I'm guessing he wasn't supposed to charge you for the cups and then pocketed the $1.50. The receipt probably shows no cups were purchased. Many, many (1984-my 1st job) years ago when I worked at McDonald's, there was an employee who, while working the drive thru, would inflate the total on large orders and keep the extra money for himself. Yes he was caught and fired.

Subway horrible serivce and food

The broccoli soup was disgusting and extremely watered down and the 6" sub was not very good either. What made it worse is that she was very unfriendly and the whole time she dealt with me she was eating something. I took the food back and was told that she sold a lot of soup that day and that I was the only person to complain about it. I told her I won't be coming back to her Subway again and she said that's fine, that's fine. She was very rude and I definitely will not ever go back there again.

Subway workers treated like slaves

Its crazy when a good job turns bad, I work @ subway #31681 and have been for almost a year, we have a new area superviser named Beau Joyce and he just came in and started treating the workers like dogs and now he want a lone female to close four nights in a row in a bad part of town when all businesses around the store close @ 9 and she is told she must stay in the store alone for two hours and close then walk home in the dark. The store was robbed eight times in 2010 and he told the young lady if she doesn't like it to find another job. This store and many other subways are owned by John Boiki and he runs a truly horrible business and care about nothing but money. forcing people to work of the clock or be fired, then lying if someone tries to get unemployment. Subway is no longer to be trusted i advise all customers to think twice before going to any establishment owned by this man and ran by his people.

I am trying to get paid from one of his Subways on Wilmington Island. Instead of paying me like they should the local manager is saying I have to wait for them to view video because money came up missing...the funny thing is its the same amount that is owed to me...imagine that. They threatened to have me arrested. I told them to do it because I am not guilty of anything!

I am demanding an apology letter from them. Just because you had something happen when I had quit doesn't mean I did any wrong. watch working for the Wilmington Island (Savannah Ga) location. They will falsely accuse you of wrong doing when you just want your pay.

Subway unsanitary employees

I went to get myself some lunch it was around 12:30 pm. There was a girl that was wearing a black subway shirt who made my sub, she made my sub really well but at the end she rang my sub through while she was still wearing her gloves. She played with the money then turned around and started making another sub without changing her gloves or washing her hands. On top of it every time I go in there the owner I believe his name is sunny is always rude and short with me. I want my sub made a certain way I have worked in customer service and I was always told the customer is always right. The tables are always dirty and when you do sit down you can tell they were wiped down with a dirty rag just by the smell. When i go back I expect to see all of them wearing hair nets like you are supposed to while working with food they do Tim Horton's while making coffee why can't they wear them while making your food that place is starting to go down hill fast. I'm not to sure I will be going there ever again during the day the managers and the owner are not sanitary and not very pleasant. The manager especially needs to learn how to smile and not be so rude. As far as I'm concerned that subway needs to be either closed down or it needs new owners!

"I was always told the customer is always right"

ugh, everytime I hear that it makes me cringe.

After many years in retail, I have grown to realize that the customers who go into every store with that attitude have probably never worked in retail, and therefore don't have the slightest clue how ridiculous it makes the seem.

Anyway, gloves give us a false sense of protection. As if wearing the gloves makes their hands invincible to all germs. WHen they touch the lids to the sub toppings, they are contracting germs. WHen they handle the sauce bottles, they are contracting germs. She shouldn't have handled the cash with the gloves, but it probably isn't much worse than what she already touched prior to that.

Subway food handling

I'm not sure if every Subway staff does this or how they been trained. But my main concern is how the Subway employee would open up the glass door of food container when they prepare sandwich with gloves on and proceed to make my sandwich with the same gloves on.! I'm in the healthcare field and that just really bothers me. I asked and they say they clean it but how would I know if it's actually clean and when? Gloves should be changed with each patient and so should food when gloves have touched other surfaces. I plan on asking employee to wear a new pair if this happens again! I'm also going to complain to manager too. This small incident should never be allowed!
