Ster-Kinekor ripoff

Good Morning

I purchased 2 tickets on Saturday 01/02/2020 to watch Bad boys at gateway cinema and the cashier gave me 2 tickets for the 02/02/2020 without checking the dates.
When I went at 11.30am to check in to watch the movies I was told I purchased the tickets for tomorrow so I immediately saw the manager who was not much help.

I went down to the cashier to change my tickets they said they will refund my money via EFT and that I have to purchase another 2 tickets and pay again what if I never had any money to watch the movie (I took my son along who turned 16 on the 01/02/2020 he would have been disappointed)

This is unacceptable I was thing of putting this on social media

Good Day

I would like to bring to your attention my frustration of yesterday. We came to the Cinema at about 11h30 and elected to watch a show at 12h15 via your terminal (TICKET ATTACHED) . We then went into the cinema and someone checked our ticket and directed us to the show . We then realised we were to early and left to have something to eat, we then returned at about 12h10 where another staff member checked our ticket and directed us in .

The show then started and like 20 minutes into the movie the show cut off, we sat inside for 10 minutes with no one comming to check on us . However while we were inside and the movie was playing the lady who checked our ticket the 2nd time and directed us in came in twice but looked and said nothing .

When we eventually came out and asked they told us we booked for the evening session when we tried to explain to the manager Vela Zyianda Ngcaba that our ticket was checked twice and we were certain we booked for 12h15 she became load and argumentative and refused to refund our money !.

I am a movie card holder for years with my hole family and this is the first time i have had such BAD SERVICE!

Ster-Kinekor seating

Hi there. My kids recently went to the Kids cinema in Sandton City. They sat in the bean bag seats . Which they found to be most unpleasant. Complaining of a sore back. Something needs to be done about these seats by perhaps reinforcing them with more cushioning and perhaps fluffing them up between shows. Very disappointing to say the least. Will not opt for this seating ever again ☹️

Ster-Kinekor refund

Hi

I tried purchasing tickets thru your sales department early last month. The agent said that the payment kept on getting rejected but after checking my bank balance the money had been taken out the 3 times he tried.
I've been in touch with Tapelo from customer care but he doesn't seem very helpful in getting back to me. Please could I get someone to help me in getting this resolved.

Ster-Kinekor bad viewing and sound quality joker at watercrest hillcrest, durban

Hi my family went seethe Joker movie last week Tuesday at the Watercrest Mall .
Paying a small fortune to see a movie, we would hope the sound and picture quality would be the best. The movie was 'jumpy' and when the kids complaint the staff were not really interested.

Please can this be looked into, should we have asked for a refund?

Ster-Kinekor dirty cinema

My family and myself attend the Lion King at the Ster Kinekor theatre Bay West on Sunday 29 September 2019 for the 17h30 show.
When we entered the theatre before the movie started it was pitch black with no lights. We struggled to find our seats and were forced to turn on our cell phone lights. The theatre had not been cleaned and it was in a terrible state. We could observe multiple boxes of empty popcorn boxes under the seats and cup holders had not been cleaned and everything was sticky. It was really bad and it ruined our viewing experience. I suspect that the lights had been turned out to mask the fact that the theatre had not been cleaned.

Ster-Kinekor vaalmall ster kinekor cinema

My husband, kid and mysself go and wash a movie every weekend some time two as this is our family time. The last few times we went to movies, what a disapointment. The cinima was not clean, and when you want to order from the prestige menue, (one of the reasins why you pay more), then the coffee mashine is not working of when you order from the food menue, they dont have any stock.

Ster-Kinekor rude staff

On the 20th of September 2019 my Friend And I Went To Watch A Movie We Always watch moves but this time the service was pathetic, I understand load shedding was beyond their control but the way the handled the situation was unacceptable.. The staff with attitude told us to either wait for the lights or go Home! What Happened To Ubuntu And People having a way to address clients.. I not happy with the service I've received at the Maponya mall branch

Ster-Kinekor marketing

The cut out poster for the horror movie IT, is placed right at the entrance of the mall. It is inappropriate for young children to see it. We were on our way to another shop in the mall when my youngest pointed it out to me. Tonight he was to scared to go to bed because of this. The cut out poster should be placed more discreetly, out of sight for parents and young children passing by. I get that it is part of the markering campaign for the movie, but parents abd children dont have any other way to pass if they need to get inside the mall.

Ster-Kinekor everything

Oh my word, the most pathetic experience ever!
So this evening my husband decided to take me to the movies to relive our childhood favorite, Lion King.
Firstly, for the upmarket Centre you are in, the service is pathetic! Everyone that works there has an attitude of note and not friendly at all, they wait for people to get to the counter before they inform you that their card machines are off-line. Not a manager in site to apologize for the inconvenience and to inform people to draw money before standing in the line.
Secondly, there are 4 people behind the counter for snacks 2 of which refused to help anyone because it's a collection area, IT WAS EMPTY AT THE COUNTER, with the counter to order being extremely full and the two guys serving trying to work as fast as possible can and the collection counter ladies just standing there watching them, we stood in the line for 20 minutes! A manager came out and I asked her to open another counter because it was extremely full and she looked at me and walked away with no response.
Thirdly, there is one table with spice that we also had to stand in a line for.
This is the most pathetic service I have ever received at a movie theater, my husband then walked up to a guy that works there to ask where he can buy the 3D glasses and without saying a word, he just points at the counter.
You should invest in better quality staff and teach them people skills and how to deal with customers.
I am disgusted with service provided at Sr-Kinekor Cavendish.

Ster-Kinekor service, harassment and racism

My kids were at rosebank on saterday to watch the BTS movie at 2.30.

Alk the kids were taking pictures of movie. This worker walked in and threatend to throw them out. His name is Jabulani Ngwenya.

He told them to put away their phones or they would be kicked out. They put it away. He walked down to the other kids in front and did the same thing. He then came back to my daughter and leaned over her friend and proceeded to go off at her. Het phone was already put away. He then proceeded to telk her that she is disrespecting "us" and that she is disrespecting "our" language. Then proceeded to insist on kicking her out.

This is not acceptable. How can ster kinekor promote an aggresive man towards young girls and then proceed to make it a race thing. For what? It was uncalled for and their whole experience was ruined.

I need this yo be resolved or i will go to the papers regarding this.

Ster-Kinekor no seating control

I watched the Lion King @ Cape Gate center on Saturday 27/07/2019. First of all when we came there i was collecting my tickets on the self service machine, while doing this one of the workers just started pressing on the machine as if to say i needed help, which i did not. Then stood in the long line to buy Popcorn he asked us to move to another line, which they then told us it is just for collections, so now we had to move back to the back of the line.

Finally when getting to the theatre, no one was at the door to check our tickets or even if we bought tickets, which resulted in us having to kindly ask ppl to move as they were on the wrong seats. That at least went smoothly.

Half way through the movie, a couple came in with their kids and just to find other ppl sitting on the seats, and of course this resulted into then having to move to their correct seats and obviously have to move more ppl.

So basically this was the theatre playing musical chairs, which then resulted into adults swearing at each other. And all this while the place is packed with kids.

Well movie ended and these adults decided to take it outside, which ended up in a huge fist fight, again while kids are around.

This was a huge disruption for me and my family who paid alot of money to watch a movie we missed half of. We were a family of 9 so you can imagine the disappointment that we missed so much and paid so much money.

I do think that this could have been prevented if there was Seating control and ticket checking from Ster Kinekor side. And they could have handled the Aftermath better as well.

Ster-Kinekor double booking of seats

Went on Friday 26 July to pre-book 8 tickets for Sunday 28 July for The Lion King at Ster-Kinekor Rustenburg North West . The manager assisted me with everything and even told me to be early because it's going to get busy. Once we were in our seats we were told that our seats were harassed by staff 4 times and told our seats were double booked and that we should take a refund and leave while the movie already started and many seats were still open even my Mother in law was harassed more than once and a lady and her child came and sat in front of her seat. Worst experience and service I ever experienced the acting manager was to stupid and incompitant she couldn't make a plan to sort out the situation and apologize for their mistake. Just looked at me like I was the one in the wrong. The manager and staff ruined the movie experience for us.

Ster-Kinekor service

Very poor service at Somerset mall.
We were here to see Pets, scheduled for 14:14, up to 14:30 no move nor was their anyone to inform us about the delay, only after calling customer service did we get someone who told us the move will screen in 5 mins, this passed till the second employee arrived and told us he's addressing the problem.The movie screened at nearly 15h:00..Dissapointing, the reason why cinemas are no longer supported.

Ster-Kinekor customer service.

After following all instructions and advice of a few (reluctant) staff members patiently and to the letter, I STILL could not buy tickets (in person from a staff member). I spoke to 8 people, some of who were rude and unhelpful (two managers and half of helpline staff) and some who were polite and sympathetic. I gave up after 2 hours and 4 phone calls (where my line just got 'dropped' but no body could tell me why). I am sorry for the staff who must work for such an incompetent company and will likely face many frustrated customers. I will never return to Ster kinekor, and I wont miss it. Showmax and Netflix is way more convenient and a lot cheaper. I have no need to subject myself to such a poorly run service.

Ster-Kinekor disgusting service, very angry customer

Dear Ster Kinekor,

With this email I would like to express my severe dissatisfaction with the level of service I received from the personnel including the management of Parow Centre Ster Kinekor.

Can you please tell me what happens in the first 20 minutes of Avengers Endgame? Because after dealing with one crisis after the other my sister, nephew and I missed the first 20 minutes of the 12.45 screening of Endgame on Saturday 4th May. I am a huge fan of Marvel, and I'm sure I don't need to tell you how much Marvel fans look forward to any new movie. This is probably one of THE biggest movie releases of the year and Ster Kinekor has undoubtedly made a colossal profit, but does that mean your level of service has to be lowered?

I booked our tickets online because I knew that it would be nearly impossible to just go to the cinema on the day to get seats. When we arrived I was told that I need to get tickets printed from the popcorn counter. The said popcorn counter had a 4 lines all of which were backed up to the stairs. There was no separate assistant we could approach to redeem our tickets. I was livid - we had just stood in that exact line for popcorn and now we had to go back into the line at 12.45 which was the same time the movie had started. When I asked her why it can't be scanned, the lady who "assisted" us (Abigail) said the machine is broken. She did not apologise, she did not even look me in the face. When I demanded to speak to the manager, Abigail told me that "it's pointless to speak to her (the manager) because she will tell you the same thing". I insisted, and Abigail reluctantly pointed to a locked door saying I should go ask for the manager. I then went to the door, knocked and waited. No one came out.

At this point my sister stood in the line and we got the tickets printed after what felt like maybe 15 - 20 minutes. Upon entering the tickets check point once again I saw the manager standing with Abigail so I spoke to her and told her that I am very unhappy with the level of service today but I would speak to her after the movie. When we got to our allocated seats (booked online days before) someone else was in our seats. We then had to go find an assistant to help. The manager I spoke to just minutes before (Nancy) who refers to herself as "Aunty Nancy" was inside the cinema, I told her our seats are being occupied by other people delaying our movie even further! I was seething at this point and I explained to her that I don't feel like I should pay for a movie when I had not even watched the most important parts of. She also said that she 'does not know why the people do this' referring to occupying seats that they have not booked. Aunty Nancy then said she could check if she can get us vouchers but that we had to vacate the cinema. I told her I was not going to leave the cinema and she said I should speak to her afterwards.

After the movie we went to look for Aunty Nancy, she said she has called Petronella (the manager of Ster Kinekor Parow) and after discussing the situation with her they have decided that they can't give us a voucher or a refund because we have watched the movie.

Now, there are a few things I would like to highlight here:

1. This is the biggest movie release of the year why did you not ensure that the scanners were working? According to Aunty Nancy, the scanners have not been working for a while now.
2. If in the event that you were not able to get the scanners working, why not put up a sign? Why not have a separate counter to redeem tickets or is it that you WANT to attract people to the popcorn counter?
3. Why did you not anticipate that people would not comply with the seats they have booked since according to your supervisor they are aware of this issue?
4. When did your level of service drop so low?
5. I hate to bring race into this, but I have never received this type of service at any other Ster Kinekor branch, but since Parow Centre caters to a predominantly coloured community (and I am coloured) is this the kind of service we can look forward to?

So now I want to know from you, Ster Kinekor, how am I going to watch the first 20 minutes of Avengers Endgame?

I was told by Aunty Nancy in a very dismissive and condescending tone that she cannot do anything and I explained to her that this is not even about the money. Her nonchalant attitude suggests that complaints at Parow Centre is not taken seriously. She promised me a callback from Petronella, it is now 3 days after the movie and I still have not received anything.

I look forward to your response.

Ster-Kinekor 3d movie

This is now the 2nd time this happens. We went to watch Avengers Endgame at Bayside in 3D at No. 8. The movie was so unclear that we could not see the faces of the characters or even read the number plate of a car. It was completely unclear and very disappointing. Last time it happened when we went to watch Aquaman also. The manager tried to assist but to no avail. We walked out after 30min because ot just became unbearable and more and more frustrating. What a huge disappointment from Ster Kinekor! He gave us 2 vouchers, thanks. We've been supporting Ster Kinekor for as long as we can remember. 30 Years! And this is very very very disappointing. We will never go there again.

Ster-Kinekor worst management and staff ever

So last night 21:30 after booking our 4 tickets buying our combos we went into the cinema but then we wanted some extra beverages and the que was super long and my fiance ran out to go get some as we saw other people went in with outside beverages as well as yes that too pass the staff member taking the tickets... Then the staff member refused us from taking in our beverages he was so disrespectful when I asked to see the manager I didn't know what was to come my way... I was told to go knock on the door... When explaining to the manager I got told I should point out that people who took in there beverages yes I should go look for them who does he think he is... And for a fine cheek I got told his not worried about customer service policy is policy... Ster kinekor will never get support from me again and they are losing alot of customers due to staff and management like that...
Very unhappy with the service.

Ster-Kinekor advertisement prior to movie

On Sunday we went and watch a movie at Ster Kinekor and they had a advertisement about a accudent and how you should buckle up. All 4 kids in vehicle died. I took this as very offensive considering my sister was in a severe car accident and has brain damage. I will now never ever consider taking her for a movie as this type of Ads will be traumatizing for her.

Do they not consider people affect with accidents.

Ster-Kinekor No assistance with ticket refund

On 30 January 2019 I booked tickets for 2 February2019. I cancelled the booking (WJXFLMN) on the same day and sent through a mail to info@ster kinekor.co.za. They replied with CAS-184859-F7D7W7 has been logged. STK:[protected] and requested proof that it went out of my account which I immediately supplied. Today is the 14th of February 2019 and still no feedback, no refund? Service is non existent!
