Stein Mart service

I was visiting my brother in Asbury New Jersey, since there isn't a stein mart near me in Ct I wanted in! Well I have never in my life been treated with such rudeness! One woman called me over to check out at het register, then started to talk to other employers! WHAT? SO I went to the other register, the woman did not interact verbally just with hetr hands! Come on! Rude, Rude ladies, if you want to call them that. I was there yesterday at 10 am sharp!
Please sprinkle some niceness on these witches!
I have been to many steinmarts in Az, Florida, and Pa. This was just auwful!

Stein Mart refused to use coupon and used offensive words

I have been to stein Mart on July 11 around 7:15pm to 1060 Parkside Main St, Cary, NC 27519 location and at the checkout time had the Worst customer relationship, the checkout person Mr.Mausham was very rude, used words like " have some common sense" and hearing to it I called the manager Kristine then he says it's his slang and when the manager stepped away he said let's meet after my work is done, very rude and insulating people.

Stein Mart refused to honor scratch off discount mailing

Attempted to use scratch off discount card (40% 50% or 75%) mailing for 4th of july 2017 sales promotion on 6/28/17 at franklin park nj store for red dot items. my scratch off should have been an additional 40% off my red dot purchases. instead they gave me a 50% store discount for less expensive items and a standard 40% discount for the more expensive red dot items. the additional special scratch off 40% discount on these red dot items was refused. I was told the company made the sale? public? (what the heck... of course the sale is public) and my scratch card mailing was not honored. well they got me into the store by sending me the scratch off card and when I went to use it... after the sales clerk scratched off the card... things switched iup on me and I was told I could not use the promotional card that was sent to my home.

Jun 30, 2017 6:51 pm EDT

Shopped at the Steinmart in Boca Raton today June 30th. Had a mailing for a minimum of 40% off which was not honored. They took 25% off my the shoes I purchased and 40% off a blouse which was on clearance but that was a sign in the store and they did not take any additional money off of the items. They got me in the store though.

Stein Mart damaged tote bag

Today being 06/10/2017, I went to Stein Mart in Pineville, North Carolina. I went to that specific store because my sister-in-law spoke so highly of it. I wanted to purchase a beach tote, but the handle had damage to it, I would still have purchased it if the discount I was offered would have been better then 10 percent and if the person that I spoke to would have had better customer service skills, her name is Janice and she made me feel as if I was not welcomed there. It was as if she would rather throw the tote away then to get a sale. I had something else I was going to purchase, but I put it back and walked out your store, I called my sister-in-law and told her I would wait for her outside as she was still in the store, she came right out, I told her what I had encountered and she told me that Janice had such a bad attitude, that if she needed help she would never ask her for help. I would have purchased the tote, but now I don't think I will go to that store ever again. Word of mouth will bring people in or keep them away.

Stein Mart termination/brenda luther

I have worked for Steinmart for 20 years. I feel like I have been singled out by my district manager Brenda Luther. I was off work on FMLA from October to January. In December 2016 my younger brother passed away. During this time Ms Luther was aware I was under Doctors care for extreme depression. I was trying to work my scheduled shifts however she was not accepting of the situation. She had loss prevention track when I was there. She accused me of not being at work when I was. She threatened my job at several times. There are managers in her district who do not work 40 hours a week but they are exempt because she has her favorite managers. Managers who leave to pick up there children and never come back managers who leave for several hours on company time to have their hair and nails done. There were days that I was so depressed about my brother that I could not get out of bed. She did not care. She has not provided me with my termination paperwork. She also provided me with alternative medication other than what my doctor prescribed. She also told me confidential information about Gary Pierce John Hegadus and many others at corporate level. She sent me emails that I have threatening my job. I do not know why she made me a target if I was investigated why were the other managers? She is aware of what is going on but overlooks it. Why me? I was a loyal employee for 20 years. Is it because she found out I am gay and have a partner? I am not sure why she decided to target me but if she is asking assert protection to track me why is she not asking all of her managers to be tracked as well?

Stein Mart plus size clothing

To whom it may concern I am very dissatisfied with the amount of plus size clothing you carry in your stores. I received your store catalog in the mail today. Upon looking thru it I couldn't believe you had several pages of women's clothing advertised and only 2 small pages of plus size clothing.
This was in your Womens Week edition. It's very sad that women who are larger than some are discriminated against because of size. I'm not trying to be rude but hope you will take this into consideration . If it doesn't change soon I will no longer shop your stores. Thank you, Helen Brown

Stein Mart tignanello purse / 30% off not honored

Rochester Hills, Mi,
2April2017 5:05PM
Patricia Puscas, Dorin Puscas, phone / [protected]
We (me and my wife) bought a tignanello purse from a shelf that said 30% off. The cashier the lady told me it was not on sale. Another lady form the store, scanned the purses from that shelf and removed the 30% sign.
I asked why I cannot have 30% off and the answer was " these are not in sale".
In Michigan, the law is to sale the product with the listed price. I guess the 30% sign wasn't removed in time but this is not my problem. I didn't want to argue in from of my wife. The purse was around $55 (I will scan and send the receipt later tonight) so 30% (~$16). $16 is not a fortune but to remove the sing in from the customer and to tell him these are not in sale, is not right. She didn't wait for a reply. turn the back and move on like nothing happened. This was second time visit to this store, we liked it, but we will avoid this store from now on. Feeling are stronger than money.
I cannot provide you desirable resolution. I would like to know how do you solve this situation. Please keep my wife out of this.

They don't training them right skill and what to do but if they do make one stupid mistake. They will writing them up and give them notes or final notes. They don't talk nice at all and have too many expeditions from Thier employees and not enough money as well. I had a horrible experience with this company in walnut Creek store. They treat their people like slaves and everyone saying different things when comes to work and thier policy and they do not comnunicate right to each other. So you don't know what you need to do exactly . The management team is socks. I am so sorry for their teams.

Stein Mart employee complaint

I shop at Steinmart in Naples (pelican Bay in Naples) at least once a week. I am usually extremely happy with both products and service. There is one employee there that I've noticed is rude to other employees and customers. Yesterday it affected me personally. I was searching for a product that I'd seen the previous week. A very courteous employee tried to help me find it. After searching for a few minutes, she approached the rude employee to ask if she had seen the product we were looking for...the rude employee snapped "no! I told her that already!" I was too surprised to react at the time, but it's left me with an angry feeling. I had never approached her and she had never told me anything already. I love Steinmart and want to continue shopping there, but want. O thing to do with this employee ever again!

Stein Mart deceiving sales sign and refusal to honor advertisement

On january 8, 1917, I went to placentia, ca store due to the email I have on a shoe clearance. There I saw a bullboxer ashford shoe on the clearance rack for $55.95. I asked a stein mart employee and she confirmed that all the shoes in the top rack were on sale for that price. When I went to the cashier named trudy, she said the price was $61.98. She said haughtily "this is a bullboxer, I will ask to verify. " after verification, the person that verified it said it is $55.95. Trudy said why is it ringing up $61.98 to the stein mart employee. Then she said to me, it is $61.98, do you want it? Of course, I wont accept that price since two of the employees in stein mart said it was. Trudy is a white and not so friendly towards me. It is not the first time she has rang up my purchases. I noticed that her demeanor is more discriminatory. I am bring this up to the organization, because I felt discriminated today in your store. How can be two of your employees agree with the price. The sign was clear it was on sale. Both of the stein mart employees said it was. Trudy refused to honor that and that is discrimination. Can you let me know what are you going to do about this ? I like to see a resolution and give me that $55.95 sale price and the 20% off on top of that as advertised.

Stein Mart complain about the manager

Went shopping a couple of times at your store here in Colorado Springs, CO off of N. Nevada St. I must say that some of the employees were RUDE, unprofessional, and not very helpful. I minded my own business, when I suddenly heard loud voices (yelling) in the store in front of other customers as well. Saw the manager Mandy (I know her name because they called her out), and not only she was rude to other employees, but one on particular she was bullying the poor thing. To me that's very unprofessional and she needs to be fired. Other customers in there were shaking their heads. One lady was telling me how uncomfortable this made her and that she wasn't going shopping there anymore. Other ladies agreed, and I'm not going there anymore. The company needs to train their employees, and bullying is no excuse. That poor girl that got bullied and yelled at in front of everyone, she was shaking. What kind of bullies are you hiring? Because she is the manager, does this give her the right to bully the rest of the employees? She clearly is abusing her power as a manager. She either needs to be put in her place or get fired. I felt so bad for the other employees. I have a friend who works at the local news, and you can be sure I will let her know what's going on. Your store will be on the news soon!

Stein Mart employee relation with consumer

My wife and I went to Stein Mart in Southern Pines, NC for their "Black Friday" sale on Thanksgiving. After we walked into your store my wife had a question about the denim on sale and asked one of your employee if the Lucky brand was on sale because the price of the jeans fell into the price range that was advertised. The employee stated that they were not and said that the denim on sale was on the top shelf. My wife, in a comment to me, said that it seemed that each time she went into the store for something she thought would be included on sale (according to your sales papers) would find out that the items were not on sale. The sales associate took issue with her comment, told her that the ads were correct and that she needed to learn to read. I could see the hurt on my wife's face by the employee's comment and told her that I had a BA in English (which I do), that I agreed with my wife and that if anyone was stupid then it was her who was stupid. She then said she was stupid and made additional comments to continue the argument. I then responded to her comments loudly and left the store with my wife. When we went into the store we did not go for the purpose of having my wife put down by anyone. I don't know why this individual did what she (maybe she didn't like working on the holiday) but I have no intention of returning to this store.

Stein Mart exchanging 2 items I got for christmas

Tried to exchange a shirt and sweater I got for Christmas. I did not have the receipt but the tags were still on the items. I was told the value of these items as 2 cents. All I wanted to do was exchange for a larger size. They refused to help me. I told them I would post reviews all over the internet and they seemed ok with it. So they are aware that I am writing about their horrible customer service.

I work at Stein Mart. Stein Mart's return policy says "Items returned after 60 days or without a receipt will be returned at the current selling price". If the current selling price is a penny, that means the item has been marked out of stock and is not in our system anymore. We could not even exchange those items for you because items get pulled from the sales floor when they become a penny. If you wanted a refund you should have brought a receipt or gift receipt. We have an extended return policy for Christmas and if the person who gave you the gift had given you the receipt or a gift receipt we could have returned the items until January 31st. Not our fault that you weren't given a receipt. Our registers automatically start printing gift receipts in November. Complain to the gift giver. Our return policy is clear.

Stein Mart I will never shop there again

I purchased a pair of sandals four years ago that I've only worn THREE times. I have the original receipt & the original box, still with the silicone packets in it. The metallic trim on one of the sandals has come undone & cannot be easily fixed. Thus, they are not wearable. Other than the loose trim, the sandals still look brand new. The store manager told me that since the item is "not in their system, " they cannot do anything about it. I paid over $40 for the sandals. I would be satisfied with a partial refund or partial in-store credit, but they were not helpful at all. I have returned items at a discount store (Ross) in a similar situation. SteinMart is supposed to be a high-end store. However, they have terrible customer service. I will NEVER shop there again.

Hahahahahahaha this has to be a joke

You had it FOUR years! The merchandise in the store changes! The return policy is 60 days. Those sandals are probably out of season and no store has them available. If they took the shoes back from you, they would go straight in the garbage! And you wouldn’t get any money from the return because it’s been so long! At this point, you should just give the shoes to a friend or sell them on ebay. Or I’m sure good will could take them off your hands.

Glad you won’t shop there anymore, I wouldn’t want anyone to deal with that!

4 years, yikes.

Stein Mart poor managerial customer service

I went shopping for a comforter set and found a set at the store which was $129.99 marked off $20.00 due to defective. This note was dated 04/09/09. I asked the salesperson if I could speak to the manager as the "defect" was a king comforter with queen sheets. The manger was evidently too busy to see me in person, but didn't have a problem relaying a message that "the discount shown is all we are going to mark it off." Well, thank you for NOT speaking to me personally - and since this item was sitting on the shelf for a year and a half - I guess you can hope there will be a market for someone wanting a king comforter complete with queen sheets. This is the second instance where a Stein Mart manager was unprofessional. I will take ALL of my business to Chico's. BTW - I spent a significant amount in their store monthly as my career requires professional dress. Perhaps Stein Mart should retrain managers about what customer service looks like. An in person conversation would have been nice.

Stein Mart racial profiling

As I shopped in store #67 located on Highway 280 in Birmingham, Alabama Friday, November 26, 2010 I noticed that two black female associates were watching my every move. I was so uncomfortable that I began to move around in different departments to make sure I wasn't being racially profiled. I'm a teacher with several different degrees and including Juries Prudence who has successfully passed a background check and would not jeopardize my career by no means to steal. I'm a frequent Stein Mart shopper and have spent thousands of dollars shopping in these stores since they opened in our area. I don't appreciate being followed around like a common thief. I reported this incidence to the manager (Robby Cain) who was very arrogant, nonchalant, and made excuses for the associates. An apology should have been rendered for the associates conduct instead he gave me his card to report this incidence to you. This manager need to realize that the customer is always right and professional people like me who can afford clothing in this recession, help to keep this store open. If we stop shopping this store will close like other due to low customer sales. I don't appreciate my experience and would like for this matter to be investigated as soon as possible.

The purpose of the comment was to enlighten Stein Mart Affiliates of the way the store manager and associates at store #67 treat some of the customers. It was not receive negative feedback from individuals who think that it is okay to discriminate against others. Moreover, it is apparent that all stores suffer from shrinkage, although there are honest people in our society that are not shoplifters. Everyone deserves an opportunity to be treated fairly with respect. It is shame that only one intelligent person from another country was actually able to coherently read and understand the purpose of the comment.
As to the comment they can watch who they want to watch; as a former retail sales associate, only store security has the authority to follow customers around in stores. Store security is trained to place you under surveillance very discreetly so that the customers are not uncomfortable while they shop.
As for the rest of the individuals that commented negatively, unfortunately your narrow mindedness and prejudices are some of the reasons why these individuals manage this store in a discriminating manner. There are other customers that have shopped in this particular store that have had the same experience. Your opinion is worthless; these comments were not geared toward you but to Stein Mart Affiliates

you sound very stuck up. They could’ve been looking at you for whatever reason, maybe they thought you needed help because you were frantically moving department to department occasionally glancing at them to see if they were watching. If I saw some lady running around the store looking at me I’d be very worried.

I also work at Stein Mart. Our job is to pay attention to our customers, offer help or suggestions, and provide good customer service. Now when I am shopping somewhere I would never be appalled with extra attention or service because that's what the sales people are there for! They should greet you and offer help and make you feel special! Luckily, Stein Mart offers online shopping now so that you can shop from home and not be bothered with the hustle and bustle of other individuals. No one ever "looks" like a criminal or thief but it does happen more often than we would like! This situation is unfortunate however there wasn't anything I would credit as substantial wrongdoing from the company.

MunkeyHunk... bro, I was management at Stein Mart and how you still manage to hold a job their is beyond me. I've worked with loss prevention and even I witnessed counts of racial profiling from employees. I personally suspect that everyone is a thief initially, no discriminating. But there were times my manager would tell me to keep an eye on the one Hispanic customer in the store and I'd ignore him/her to go after someone who was actually acting suspiciously. It does happen, it is there, and just because it doesn't happen at your store doesn't mean it doesn't happen in the entire corporation. So stop being an ### and insulting the intelligence of someone online and get on with your life.

As for the complaint, contacting corporate or HR probably won't get you anywhere. I'd take it to EEOC.

Everyone except the Irish dude is right. You want the employees to apologize for doing their job? You probably were stealing. I work at Stein Mart and I'll tell you that we don't watch people unless they are obviously doing something wrong. You have to really try to get our attention. So you should just stop trying to steal something and get on with your life at a store where they will kiss you ### even though you are no better then the people that work there. Although with your "many degrees" you should have already realized all of that.

You're a teacher? Please tell me that you don't teach humans? And it's "jurisprudence", commonly known as JD or "Doctor of Jurisprudence", although and MJ is available (I think that Loyola offers it).

Just take a deep breath, continue shopping and ignore the people following you and all will be well. Or you can randomly filt from department to department which will make the security people suspicious and more likely to follow you. Wait a minute, that's what happened.

I'm new to this site but already I'm horrified by the manner in which you communicate with each other. I'm based in Ireland and I can honestly say that on similar sites the users tend to address each other in a way that they themselves would like to be spoken/written to. If this is the tone and level of communication skills of this site, I'd prefer to go and get myself a stiff drink in order to forget that such communication skills exist in a world where the violence of american tv and film are fed to us on a daily basis as tho, we were are being conditioned to behave to one anothere as you do. Is this the image you care to give to us of your country and how you treat each other?

Stein Mart sales clerk offered free magazines

Several months ago I was checking out at Stein Mart with some purchases. The sales clerk told me that Stein Mart was giving free magazines to their customers as a way of saying thank you. I asked several times if the magazines cost anything and he assured me they were free. He gave me a piece of paper with magazine choices and I didn't see any that I really wanted. He said he like US and that was a good magazine. So I choose US, Southern Living and Family Circle.

Just yesterday my credit card bill came and I have been charged a high price for US and Southern Living! I am outraged!

Ok... I WORK for Stein Mart at the Customer Service desk. There are HUGE stickers stuck to the counter with the Stein Mart MasterCard and the "Try any 3 free!" magazine promotion. If you READ it, you'd know it says the first three months are free. After that, they WILL charge you. When you agree to the magazines, Stein Mart has the right to give your billing information to the magazine companies. It's not a scam. You just have to remember to cancel within 3 months or else you will be charged a year's subscription for each magazine you selected. The magazine company does offer to reimburse your money if you decide you want your money back (within 45 days after the 3 month trial). The magazine ALSO sends a big green postcard notifying you that if you don't cancel the magazines before the 3 months, you WILL be charged for it. There are also brochures next to EVERY register about the magazines, which tells you everything I'm telling you now. And also, even after you've swiped your credit card and accidently hit "approve" for the magazines, we need to input your information (name, address, phone number, etc) in order for you to recieve the magazines. It's not "slimy tactics". And you can't recieve 4 magazines just for being a preferred customer. The computer is limited to select THREE and ONLY THREE. I agree with MunkeyHunk completely. So many of you customers think you know what you're talking about, and you want to argue and argue and argue until we point it out directly to you. Just b/c we work in retail doesn't mean we're stupid. It's our JOB - we know more about it than you do.
As for the cashier that said you "wouldn't be charged after the 3 months", he/she could have been new. And I'll admit to knowing that some stores falsely advertise "3 free magazines", but if you were to ask what the catch was, maybe you wouldn't have gotten yourself in that situation. Or maybe, you were just too damn busy talking on your phone and not paying attention to the transaction to know what was even happening.

I was told by the cashier, who took my name and number for their "Call back" list, that they would give me a courtesy call before the 3 months was up to remind me that I would I need to cancel my subscription. I never received that call, nor did I call the 800 number. Honestly I forgot about it until I started receiving tons of magazines in the mail that I NEVER chose in the first place. I've also been receiving tons of subscription notices in the mail for said magazines, which I have "Declined" and mailed back. NEVER did I authorize Stein Mart or any of these magazine companies to charge my credit card $58.50 for People magazine. Can hardly wait to see what they charge me over the next few months. I called the Stein Mart in Cary and was told by Judy that she would contact the company and get my money refunded. I doubt I'll hear from her again, but you'd better believe, they WILL be hearing from me again. This is B. S. and bad, bad, business. Shame bottom feeders everywhere who have resorted to these slimy tactics. Like any of us have money to spare for an unwanted magazine subscription.

I think I've got you beat. I actually canceled the magazines using the automated system, and spoke to a client on the other end to confirm the cancellation and now I'm staring at a negative balance due to overdraft fees on my checking account. Guess what from?

They change the rules midway through the trial so that refund options are no longer valid. I know first hand that the subscriptions are bull. I worked for Stein Mart and researched all possible ways to sell the thing and I just came to terms with it being bad business and refused to do it. I didn't want to tell customers what would happen if they got the magazines just because I read it on a piece of paper, so I signed myself up to discover how tedious the process was first hand. I'd offer it without mentioning anything "FREE" The brochure has the prices listed and I just gave them that. I've had it with this company ripping people off. Employees and customers alike. So the 800 number is just as bogus. I canceled the magazines and still got charged, despite canceling before the "Free 3 month trial."

Obviously nothing's ever free. Someone is always paying for it somehow. If I give you a free cookie, I'm short one damn cookie.

Just scornfully swat that malevolent green fly whose * husband * on Quatloos forums, bmielke(the lawnmower ruler), cathulhu(in rattlesnakes boots) are comfortably scoffing at us.

Aliases obviously ignored by the Quatloos gens.

What an attitude Munkeyhunk has! You obviously don't work in customer service. How could you possibly know what each and every sales person in Stein Mart has told different customers?
There was never anything said about automatic billing when I was told I would receive the magazines for a free trail. I DID ask about charges, and was assured there was no charge. As someone who's been in sales for over 30 yrs, I feel as though the free trial offer was intentionally misrepresented. At the very least the sales person should have said is after the free trial, you have the option to continue the subscription to cancel.

Maybe if you all weren't [censor]ed and knew how to read you would have seen on the counter top at the check out register it says three months for free. Not free for life. Do any of you really think that someone is going to give you something for free? Call the 800 number that they gave you and they will credit your card if you do it within 45 days. After 45 days they will still give you most of your money back. And for the person who said your bank told you to call the police? Please, attach the recording of that conversation. I can see it now, "Officer I authorized these people to charge my card. I was stupid and didn't read the paperwork and now I want you to go arrest someone there to make me feel better about myself." Good luck with that. I work at Stein Mart and I have to deal with idiots like you guys everyday. It's good to finally tell you what life is really about.

I've had the same problem. I told the sales clerk that I would take the 3 magazines for 3 months free and then I wanted it cancelled and she told me that she could do that and I would get the magazines for 3 months only. Well I never got even one magazine and now I've had two charges taken from my debit card. One for $12 and one for $58.50 for the magazines. I called the store and they told me that they would take care of having the money refunded to me within two days. A week later I still have not receied my money back and I called the store again and they said they would look into it and then I called the corporate office and of course I only got voice mail.
