Steak 'n Shake - from walking in the door to leaving and everything in between

We looked so forward to seeing this resturant being built and then opening. We walked in the weekend after it opened looking forward to it only to walk in and all the tables were taken with a waiting line. When I noticed that although all the tables were taken there was also no food or left overs of plates on any of the tables. We thought ok we will come back on another day when the excitment of the opening has tuned down a bit. So it came about on 10/19/19 we decided to go for lunch. Got there and not many cars in the parking lot. I noticed this because I was expecting a lot of people to be in the resturant. Got inside and almost all the tables were empty at 11.30am on a saturday morning. Thought this was strange for a new resturant. Only ones in line and we still had to wait almost between 5-10min before we were seated at a table. Looked at the menue and noticed that it had changed from the indianpolis resturant we use to go to. 10-20min later a waiter came up and asked what we would like to order. Asked for a cheese burger and a frisco melt and chilly and a turtle shake. He told us that there were no shakes! I just looked at him as though he had a monkey on his head. Here we are at a resturant that is known for it's shakes and there were none. We were told that there was no one to make them. So you would think that everyone who worked there would know how to make these shakes. If not the speacialtie at least the basic one. So we settled for a diet coke. Over 30min later and 4 families in the meantime were told the same thing that there were no shakes they up and left without ordering. Finely over 30min later we got our meal. It was cold since it obviously was left out for some time. We were given no napkins and no utensils. We were not asked if we were ok with the meal or given any refills. When the meal arrived there was no chilly. Asked for it again and still it never came. She just walked away and never came back. Then the waiter was walking by and we had to ask for it again. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and it was filthy. Also no soap or paper towels. Got back to the table and now there was a line waiting to be seated with no one to seat them I told my husband that we were leaving. We were not given a ticket to pay. We could have easily just walked out and no one would have been the wiser. Waiting in line again over 30min, now the line is getting longer and still no one to seat anyone. Finely got to the counter to pay, only the girl had no idea how to work the register let alone put our order in to pay. She asked what our table number was. I asked her how would we know? So we pointed to the table we sat at. She rang our meal up and it came to $11. And some change. Still throughout the entire experience no sign of a manager. Who goes to a brand new restaurant or one that is well known for its food and service to receive absolute the worse of the worse experience ever and to be seated with given no napkins or utensils to eat with?. What kind of restaurant is that in this day and age?. So upset over this entire experience with shake and steak that we will never go to this restaurant again here in our own town that had to survive a catergory 5 hurricaine 1 yr ago. This city needs the new to come in not to come in and ruin its own reputation before it even gets started.
