We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. Steak 'n Shake drive thru service from 8:30-9:10. long wait & rude employee

I did not appreciate the service I received by the young lady working the drive thru this evening October 12 from 8:30-9:10p.m. I was asking how big the chili bowl is and she couldn't tell me how big it was. She was talking about a cup for a dollar. I asked several times. Over the speaker I hear "they are taking forever." The wait was more than significant giving the time frame and only ordering two meals. She was rude when I came to the window and as I waited and waited I noticed her barely moving, walking or doing much to help the other gentlemen prepare. I felt bad for the people in front of me as their shakes had been sitting there since I pulled up. She had touched them but didn't do anything with them. The manager in the blue shirt looked like he was actually trying to get the job done. She told me again not very nicely to pull forward. After a signifant wait then too she came brought me my food and handed it to me as she walked away. No comment, nothing. Her customer service was terrible, my order was wrong- I ordered a reg. Cheeseburger no onion and I got a bacon cheeseburger with onion and there was no reason for the wait or for her to be rude over the speaker.

Steak 'n Shake service and product

We ordered lunch online today(October 12, 2019) with a half hour wait time before pickup. My husband ordered a singl steakburger with lettuce, tomato, mustard, ketchup, and pickles. Also fries and a soda. I ordered a salad with chicken. We arrived at restaurant at time specified when ordering (2:30 pm). It took five minutes before anyone greeted us. Our order was not done, in fact it hadn't even been started. We stood at check in for twenty-three more minutes before our order was done. Upon checking it before leaving restaurant the hamburger was cold, really cold. They also did not put lettuce on it and the fries were over cooked. We also discovered there were no napkins nor a fork for the salad. This restaurant used to be great, and we frequented it monthly. Pretty sure we will not be returning as this is the third bad experience we've had there.

Steak 'n Shake the food I received

Ordered a garlic double add onion with onion rings and a jalapeno crunch meal with fries and a coke. Received a garlic double with fries no onion. And a jalapeno crunch with fries and the coke. The guy that gave me my food asked me to pull up and he would bring my food out. He came out, handed me my food, and lit a cigarette. Extremely unprofessional.

Steak 'n Shake drive thru

This is my 4th time buying at this stupid location. Always takes me more than 20 mns to get my food here ! U need to fuc$&& close this location, it sucks! Give some priority to the drive thru as well. Definitely not coming back . They alway saying they short . I was always coming back thinking something was going to get resolved but its the same issue .

Steak 'n Shake an employee

There is an employee there who's name is Brooklyn Mccleery. She has herpes, isn't getting it treated at all and she handles food without washing her hands or anything. She isn't protecting the customers and her boss or managers don't know because she won't tell them. She has herpes. These are pictures of what she looks like, she uses filters and changes her hair color. Her name is Brooklyn Mccleery but she might go by Brooklyn Clowers also.

Steak 'n Shake food but also sanitary

Its been 2 years since I last visited this location but I dont complain unless in 2 years I cannot get over the horrible experience. The restaurant was dirty, tables sticky, trash on the floor, the waitresses (both men and women) stood around talking person crap instead of cleaning up the space. The bathroom was disgusting. When the food arrived it was cold and horrible. We left the food, paid the bill and left. The wait staff did not follow up on how things were nor care to deliver the food in a timely manner when all they wanted to talk about was partying between themselves. I always wanted to try Steak n Shake since a customer of mine, spoke highly of your company and he was a vendor for you with a product we sold him. I would never recommend now would I ever go back.

Steak 'n Shake wait time/lettuce

October 7, 2019.

I was behind 2 cars at the drive through and noticed that every car in front of me had to pull up to wait for their food. I also was told to pull into a parking spot and waited so long that I eventually turned off my car. The next 2 cars also had to pull into a parking spot. I've never waited so long for food from a drive through before.

But I'm submitting this b/c the lettuce on my burger was rotten - something I would have thrown away at home. I attached a photo.

And not related to THIS visit we got frozen fries (yes, frozen) in our box of fries on another visit to a store in Lewis Center, OH.

Steak 'n Shake food and service is horrible

I was very happy and looking forward to our area finally getting a Steak n Shake. I have now eaten there twice and both times I have been very dissatisfied and disappointed. On both occasions the food was cold and it took an exceptionally long time to get my food and drinks. My most recent visit was today 10-6-19 at 3:30 pm. Upon entering the restaurant there were very few customers and alot of vacant tables. We were told it would be 10-15 minutes to get a table, and at the time there were no more than 10-12 people in the restaurant. While we were waiting two customers told us while sitting at their booth waiting on their food for over a hour. They stated that there were two tables of customers that came in after they did that had already received their food and they still had not received theirs. Upon delivery of their food and after they complained they got up and walked out abandoning their very late food. We observed at least 6-7 waitresses working and the table behind us had three parties come in a sit down, and due to the delay in even speaking tone waitress they got up and walked out. It took us almost an hour to get our cold food and over 30 minutes to even get our drinks and then almost that long to get a refill on our drinks. As I said out food was cold when we received it. My bowl of chili was barely warm and almost too cold to eat. My fries were cold, burnt, and simply broke when I tried to eat them with a fork. After waiting for as long as we did I dare not complain about the delay and food quality. One customers across from me got so tired of waiting that they finally went to complain to the manager. They came back very upset that they were told" they didn't know who or where the manager was at". They eventually did get their order but their fries and food was cold as well. Throughout this entire ordeal the table where the customers that abandoned their food was never cleaned up or had the uneaten food removed, etc. that was unchanged even as we were leaving!

Upon paying the check(also had to wait a long time to do) we finally saw a woman that had a badge that said store manager, I mentioned to her that we were very disappointed and that they had some serious issues to resolve. She didn't even acknowledge me or ask me to explain anything. She basically ignored me and turned around and walked off. This was virtually the same issue that happened on my first visit. I know that during our visit today I personally witnessed minimum of 15 customers walk in and then walk out due to the delay in any resemblance of customer service or their severe delay in receiving drinks or food or both. This is not a large town and word is getting out very quickly that the food and service is very bad at this very new location. I would hope that you would want to address this problem. I will be glad to speak to anyone regarding my issue in the hope it may be resolved in the future. I really like your food and would love to enjoy it in my town. I am also a local restuarant OWNER and can honestly not understand why this is such a problem.

Steak 'n Shake service

Approximately 4-6 weeks ago, we went thru the drive thru and it took over half an hour to get our food with 3 cars ahead of us. So the next time we went, my friend ran in instead. That time took 25 minutes with one person ahead of him. We love the food but quit going because of the long waits. Today we thought we would try it again. We pulled in the drive thru, ordered right away, 2 cars in front of us, and it took over 20 minutes. This is not fast food! Although Steak n Shake is our favorite "fast food", we will not be going back to this one. We have never received an apology for our long waits. This location was not always like this. It is just in the past month and a half to two months. People we know have experienced the same issue.

Steak 'n Shake ownership

I have worked for this company for over a year now. I started when management switched from the store having no gm to getting a gm. I receive benefits from the company since I an full time and I am very well liked and my work ethic speaks for itself at my store. I have multiple employees tell our new owner about myself. Well now, my old gm is getting replaced and we have a new owner coming aboard. About 2 weeks ago, I had a poor decision effect me and I had to do a little jail time. While I was incsrceratef, my girl friend, who also worked at steak n shake explained the issue and t was reeolved, or so I thought. Well I do eleven days jail and the new owner decides to fire my girls friend due to bad communication (she was at another store to be transferred) but got no call no show instead. Well wen I was released from jail, I reached out to the new owner and he told me he'd like for me to come down the next day to talk about bringing me back on board. So the next day I went to the talk at 2 and we went back to a table. This is where I don't understand how he can do this. The owner immediately started off by wanting to know about me. I told him my age and a little back story about myself. The first question he asked me was if I steal adn if my girlfriend steals from this company? What? I've been with this company for over a year and he doesn't even know me! How dare someone ask me that... I let that go after a few deep breaths. He then continues to talk to me and he's asking about drug use now. And every single question is pertained to referring me and my girlfriend as drug addicts. I've never met this man in my life and he hadn't even met my girlfriend before he fired her. I tell him about my past problems honestly and I guess I shouldn't have told the truth. Because nj ow he's wanting to know if I got my girlfriend on drugs or if she got me on drugs. I explain to him that was my past, people can change and i'm very uncomfortable at this point. First off, I have a dui that does not give the right to assume drug use not lable me as such. Secondly, I was there solely to talk about my job not my past. Not one question did he ask pertain to working at the store. He was more worried about finding out about my personal info and my girlfriend. Which no longer works there and should not even be brought up. He then asks if I want to have kids with her and this just not the time and place. By this point I can kind of see what he's doing. He ends the conversation with he's heard nothing but great things about me and the employees love working with me but only being out of jail and sober 11 days was not enough time for him and to come back in three months he's full right now. So let me get this strait, he had me come down here to be humiliated and interrogated knowing he was never going to hire me back, knowing he had filled my position already, he knew I had been in jail and was even telling employees that he was bringing me back. I just want to know how this in any way is right for a manager, let alone the owner, to do such interviews. My work never was brought up and when I asked why he even told me to come up there his response was he wanted to put a face with the name he's heard so much sbout. Now this is wrong on so many levels. I feel like cuz I was the only third shift worker that had benefits he didn't want to have to pay. I loved my job and the company and you lost two good workers because of this dave guy clearing and unjustly letting employees go. I'm taking this the next step up if I have to. I was humiliated and degraded and he is not professional nor good for the mboro store. It's wrong to come into a store and totally take any moral out of it and replace it with intimation and reprimands. I'm sure this isn't going to be the first complaint from this store. Thank you for your time.

Steak 'n Shake food terrible

First time and last at this location. Ordered two #26. Also order choc oreo shake and nutello shake. One shake came out dripping shake all on outside of cup - I had to wipe outside my car. Second one came out same way. Neither were made properly. Nutello barely had any in it and the oreo was all wrong. The burgers were warm and red. Bun was not fresh on either one. The food was in a bag that was loaded with grease and no receipt. There was an order ticket but not legible for the grease it was soaked in. As I type this I am sick to my stomach-I can only figure it was from this food we recd.

Steak 'n Shake ashmound in rockwall texas

I would like to remain anonymous as I am an employee. I had my headset on and over heard Ashmound tell another Manager that WHITE girls do not know how to make as schedule nor do the truck order. This is NOT the 1st time he has made racial/gender remarks. As an employee to hear constantly is being degraded for being white. He thinks he is better than anyone else and is getting out of hand.

Steak 'n Shake site, service

Site: floors sticky, tables around us not bussed, the entire time we were there.
Service was terrible, took 5-7 minutes to sit us in and almost empty store. Another 10 minutes at least to take our drink order, and a half an hour to get 3 shakes and a coke. Had to ask the server after 20 minutes if we could have our drinks while we waited on our food, and she said, "oh, I didn't bring your drinks?", after walking past us at least three times. We ordered three taco salads and it took at least another half hour to get those. Over an hour to get 3 shakes, a coke and three taco salads.
We had to go to the counter to get a bill, and did not get a receipt, said the machine couldn't print one. VERY dissatisfied, and this is the second time this has happened. Thought we would give it one more try...Won't happen again, won't go back to that store. Is there another Steak and Shake near enough to us to go for a good timely meal? Not sure if it's management, or staff, something needs to change, or it will go out of business.

Steak 'n Shake drive thru

We waited AT THE DRIVE THRU ORDER stand for 40 minutes, this was after waiting in line to get to the order point for 30 minutes. After being ignored and watching 6 other vehicles pull away, we left without being able to place a simple order for a family of 4. Cost would have only been about 50 dollars for us, but this will cost the company a lot more in horrible reviews that I WILL post everywhere.

Steak 'n Shake service

In the past few months every time I visit the DeKalb Illinois location we are either greeted with signs at the door saying closed, after entering being told sorry no inside orders, or sitting inside the restaurant for 30 plus minutes before being seen by a waitress or waiter walking out. The service at night is awful and needs to be addressed. Either post signage stated closed at night Or find people who will serve to customers at night. I'm kind of tired of wasting my time trying to give my business to you when you clearly don't want it

Steak 'n Shake rude staff for doordash

Three DoorDash people were waiting for food and they took 40 minutes to even make it while giving out food to drive thru and people who was eating there. Were talking bad about people who delivers food and how they will just ignore them next time and until who gets tired and frustrated first. We had to make our costumers call directly to the merchant to tell them about the food and why it wasn't being made.

Steak 'n Shake food order

I come to stake and shake at this drive thru location often and it seems like every time I come I have to go in or call because they mess up my order. Today I went and asked for no onion on my burger and drive home and only to find my burger has onions. Im not sure what needs to be done so that this kind of errors stop. This is not the best way to do business.

Steak 'n Shake double steakburger and fries

I went to steak and shake at 1:00 am, only ones in the drive through. Absolutely no wait, nor where there any one inside. I waited 20 minutes, which is normal for the great food I normally recieve. I asked for a double steakburger with cheese, lettuce, onion, and tomato. I got a double steakburger with cheese just lumped on and kethcup. I never complain about these things but this is pure carelsessness and really negates the fact that I drove well out of my way to visit this establishment. I submitted a picture of what my burger looked like when I took it out of the package. When veiwing these pictures, keep in mind I expected a burger with some lettuce, onion, and tomato. Also keep in mind there was literally no one else at the restaurant at this time.

Steak 'n Shake service or lack thereof

We visited a Steak ‘n Shake (4120 N, FL-7, Coral Springs, FL 33073) across from Coconut Creek casino at 6:15 the morning of September 21st, on our way out of town. We saw two men asleep in two booths. When we made enough noise to wake them, we were told that they could not take our order until a manager arrived at 7:00. The sign on the window clearly says they are open 24 hours, but I guess that doesn't mean that you can order or eat food 24 hours. If a manager is needed to take orders, then the place should only be open when a manager is on duty. We had visited this same Steak ‘n Shake a week earlier and notice a man asleep in one of the booths. This gives the appearance that Steak ‘n Shake allows homeless people to use the booths to sleep. We have no way of determining if the man was homeless, we do believe he was one of the same men asleep in a booth the day we were refused service.

Steak 'n Shake server hour wait on food

Our server was a young black girl it took 20 minutes for her to come to our table, she never refilled our drinks an seemed annoyed she had to be bothered with us.We waited 1 hour an 22 minutes on food, I would have left but my mother loves your milkshakes. It should not take that long for 3 sandwich and milkshakes. Are you under staffed so badly or are you incompetent?

I was in your restaurant around 4 I had a young black server it took 20 minutes for her to come to our table. She never refilled drinks and a hour an 22 minutes to get food. We want be back. It should not take that long for 3 doubles fries and 3 milkshakes. My mother had to go ask for tea.
