Steak 'n Shake My entire visit

I can't believe how downhill your company has gone. First a high increase in price, kisocks, and sad when the piece of cheese was thicker than the burger (if that is what you call it). The buns are smaller and 1/3 the amount of fries. So sad. Sorry but I will no longer go to your place again. I have never been so disappointed. Janice Angleton [protected]@hotmail.com

Steak 'n Shake The wait time for only a milkshake

I waited for a long time at the restaurant for a door dash pickup. All I was picking up was a regular chocolate shake! There was hardly anybody in the restaurant and I still waited. I had to ask the hostess/ server if someone was working on the order. Not very customer service oriented. The Chefs were busting their [censored] preparing other food. However, the shake makers seemed like they didn't want to be working at all.

I received a $50 gift card from my co-workers when I retired in 2019...Due to Covid and Steak n Shake shutting down for that and then for remodeling I was unable to enjoy the benefits of this card. Finally found our Steak n Shake has re-opened and went there for dinner...much to my surprise, I soon realized that I had been charged $1.50 a month for 12 months because I did not use my card...How can I use my gift card when the restaurant is closed? Eighteen dollars charged for something that was not under my control seems a little excessive under the circumstances...I would seriously like a reply to this e-mail one way or another...BTW my phone number is [protected] My card number is: [protected] Pin #046

Steak 'n Shake Chile Mac

I got the food to go. The spaghetti was tough and rubbery, and whatever the meat is was just as rubbery. The food was horrible. I have to drive to another town, (Farmington, MO), to get this food. I'm 75 and live on a small SS budget, so cannot drive back to take it back, and could not afford to waste it. I tried to eat it anyway, but it was impossible. The food tasted like it had been soaking in a toilet. I am very upset about the waste of my money.

Steak 'n Shake Free double cheese steakburger for taking your e- survey

I have a receipt from 11/10/21 which was denied a validation code because I had recently sent a survey in. The email message I received said only one survey per household per 14 days. This is not stated on your receipts. It only says the survey needs to be sent in within 7 days & expires in 30 days. There's nothing about limiting the number of surveys sent in per 14 days. SteaknShake is my favorite fast food restaurant. It has the best steakburgers & shakes. It also has the best service. The managers are awesome! They care about the service they give. I'm sorry this had to happen with the survey. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Susan Madsen

Steak 'n Shake Gift Card

On 11/14/21, I placed an order through the app for pick-up and selected gift card for payment. The order did not go through. Next, I ordered a second order and paid by debit card. This went through and I picked up the food.

There was no 1st order picked up. However, my gift card balance showed the first order was subtracted from the balance.

Resolution: The balance refunded back to my gift card from the 1st order. Fair is fair. No food - no payment.

Steak 'n Shake Service

To whom it concerns today (11/16/21). I decided to return to a Steak n shake location that me and many former residents stop going to in the town of Viera, Florida the manager Mark, a rather large gay guy was very rude and didn't care to listen to the complaint I tried to to him of his drive thru employee, whom balled up y change of dollars and basically dumped it in my ands so it could fall outside my car in drive thru long line lady behind me saw it .as I pick it up from cramped area unfortunately I'm parlayed I yell [censored]. The employee heard me. Going inside to tell the manager . He didn't care instead told me not o come back. Another employee offered to remake my order but laughing she made it very bad left out a lot of things. these teen are messing with the food. I knew something was wrong from the beginning when I ordered a 1 and said all the way and this girl stars asking me if I want this on it and that. What is it about all the way she doesn't understand? In fairness I had a problem with this same local before and the former manager was very professional this new manager looks like he's there to eat all the food get paid and do nothing. I went to another local miles away and ordered the same thing and it was great service. I hope you investigate this. Thank you

Steak 'n Shake bad service

if fileing this complaint is anything like reaching the main office i know its not going any where.. i ordered two single my name is willie franklin my phone number is [protected]...i know you people dont like to talk to anyone but i sending this any way, , because when you call the main office all you get is a run around no one answers the call sHAME SHAME ON YOU STEAK N SHAKE

Steak 'n Shake An employee

Today my family and I came to the drive through pick up window. I asked a question to the large black woman with a black mask (description of employee) as I don't know her name. The question was simply why are the straws like this? I asked because we were given a straw without paper wrapping. She said that "that's what we have right now if you don't like it you don't have to use it." I again said "no that's not what I am asking" she immediately pulled her mask down and rudely repeated herself. The issue is her attitude, the hypocrisy in covid precautions as she handed us dirty unwrapped straws and pulled her face mask down. What's the point of a mask if she's going to pull it down to spray her not so friendly customer service our way? A simple question in regards to straws was asked and she did not give an ounce to answer why it was they were given to us. I understand that's all they had but I wanted to know why they had straws like that to begin with and giving it to us? For example, is that a new change in their policy or was there no shipment of them etc? I am the customer and a former employee who happens to be pregnant. The rude and repetitive response from her was unwarranted and hypocritical in terms of "covid precautions". I am not worried about the bio weapon precautions but as a business your employees should either follow the mindless rules and provide quality customer service. If they can't kick them to the curb where non compliance deserves to be. My three year old son was in the car and she took away from the whole experience. Customer treatment like that should never be tolerated as it will happen again and another may not complain as I have therefore losing respect as a business and revenue. She should be fired as that is not how communities and societies should treat others.

Steak 'n Shake Service and food

Order# 525301 The person that took my order or name on receipt is Jameshi M on 08/07/2021 at 5:04 pm. I order a #1 and they gave me a bun with meat and ketchup nothing else on it. I did not ask for and only ketchup burger but that is what I received and I have a receipt and took pictures of everything. The lady gave us the food and closed the window without giving us our shakes and came back to the window and said, "Do you need something?" My mother then replied, "Yes, our shakes." So she slams the window goes to get shakes and she passes it out mother say, "Thank you and she slams window again. Bad/poor customer service…

Steak 'n Shake Service

Was in line at 11:01 and didn't get my door dash orders til 11:40. They didn't have anything ready and the lady taking orders at the window was very unprofessional and was rude. They also informed me the shake machine was broke and wanted me to contact the people who ordered if they wanted something else. Customer said a refund and the lady got [censored]ty with me saying they need to contact doordash. They also didn't know the orders they had to ask me what the orders were that was needed for doordash.
Very unprofessional and rude. Not a good way to run a restaurant.

Steak 'n Shake Racist

Me and my wife went to your restaurant this evening it was very quiet my wife placed the order which took some time we ask for two beers after 1o minutes standing there still no beers ask to speak to the manager he came to speak to us i was wearing an english football shirt he said to me do you speak french i said no so he then spoke in french to me to which all the staff found amusing when i asked for his name he refused to tell me what he said to me was a racist comment i make sure that the public no that this is accepted in you restaurants and i will be taking this matter further the restaurant is st maxine chanttilly france

Steak 'n Shake Burgers

See pictures below just got this from steak and shake Daytona beach fl. REALLY!

What is going on. Fries nasty old.
My burger was dry sloppy. So disappointed.

Steak 'n Shake Change to ordering and receiving meals for dining in

Had dinner at the Steak n' shake in Clarksville on 5/4/21. My complaint is not about actions by any employees, they were always courteous and friendly.
My complaint is about the "new" process of ordering meals and getting meals to the table. The automated ordering process is a pain in the butt to put it plainly.
You have obvious eliminated all wait staff positions at this location. You make out your order on the computer, pay your bill and get a number. When the call your number you pick up your meal. This is the first time you interact with a person. You bus your own table.
I have always enjoyed eating at Steak ‘n Shake. Your computerized process now makes your restaurants worse than the typical fast food restaurant. If I want that type of service, I will eat at McDonalds. At least a live person takes your order and rings up your bill. At some locations such as Chick Fil-A or Dairy Queen, they deliver the meal to your table.
I seriously doubt that I will ever eat at Steak n Shake ever again
Your new process to eliminate people in the restaurant really (to put it in the vernacular), really sucks.

Steak 'n Shake Closed dining rooms

So the decision by Biglari to transform the elderly statesmen of burger joints into a drive-thru/kiosk concept is going to fail - badly. The whole idea behind Steak N Shake is a slightly slower pace for a better burger and shake.. anytime you try and morph a product or service into something it was not originally designed for it never ends well. Not sure who this cat is, but he should be fired along with any board member who went aling with it.

The focus should be on QC - people like quality. e.g., the S N S on Coit Road in Plano, TX sucks - always has. Just ate there under the new concept & still sucks - cheese wasn't melted/tasteless. But the one in Rockwall has always been good - its a QC thing believe me. Good wuality brings business.

Steak 'n Shake customer service

I would like to let you know how one of the employees at 4211 Conestoga in Springfield Ill. treated us at our last visit this evening we got there at 4:58and left at 5:18. We ordered off of the $3.99menu 3#10 dinners we got up to the window to pay she said it was $22.. I said we ordered the $3.99 meals off the sign she came back very smartly I didn't write the sign that's the price . Then said whatever when we said we didn't get the food and drove off. Then we went to the location on Dirksen parkway and the price for the same order was $13.14.

Steak 'n Shake gift machine wasn't working

Two weeks ago I went to Steak and Shake to use a gift card that I was given. Got part of our meal, completely when rest of it sowed up. Then the gift card machine was not working. Not offered another solution had to pay cash for meal. Would like my money back. Steak and SHake 1101104 ticket number 326020.

Steak 'n Shake I am complaining about losing my job and working at an hostile workplace

Attn: Human Resources & Complaint Division

Dear Mr. Lucas,

Subject Line: Action Needed: Urgent

As of March 3, 2021, I was writing this letter because I was not getting any resolution with Store #31, General Manager, Kim Fowler and I'm reporting this claim so that I can get some help.

These are my issues:
• My hours were cut from 42, 24, to 4 hours a week due to discrimination
• As of March 2, 2021, I was not put on the schedule at all for the entire week
• I was working in a hostile work environment
• I did not feel safe or valued in my position

I have more documentation to present as proof that this was personal retaliation and discrimination. I would like to keep my position with Steak N' Shake, however, I was given the opportunity to transfer to a different store but the general manager and store manager would not allow me to transfer. Also, working at this new location it would be a better fit for me and because my mother is sick and I'm currently living with her. The downtown location would work best for me and put me closer to where I'm currently living.

I would like to ask that this matter be investigated and resolved so that I can either be put back on the schedule to work at a different store.

On March 4, after several attempts to contact someone, I received a text from Daniela the store manager who informed me that she could not provide me with my W2 and that I was no longer employed with Steak N Shake.

Lastly, on March 8 I received a call from the Steak N Shake complaint line from a young lady who I do not recall her name and she took a report but I have not heard back from her and it's been over two weeks.

Please investigate this store as there are a lot of issues that need to be addressed.

Steak 'n Shake Service

We were in line before close finally it was our turn we went forward to the speaker to place our order no one answered we kept trying three times then moved forward to the window were a guy came to the window he proceeded to tell us they were close. I responded that we were in line 15 minutes before hand in line we still had cars in front of us an behind he just kept saying that they were closed so we pulled forward an stop. The car behind us pulled up to the window and was served. From what it appeared to be was that we were not served because we are white as the guy who would not serve us was black and the guy that got served behind us was black but because we are white they would not serve us if not resolved and contacted we will be filing a lawsuit for discrimination. This is the third time something like this has happened. An Thanksgiving we placed an order in the evening online it said they were open so we placed an order went to pick it up as we had already paid online for this order an no one was there so we did not get our order an we did not get our money back either we have called several times an no resolve so this would be considered theft at this point along with discrimination.

Steak 'n Shake Compliment of one of your employee

I went through your drive thru window on 2-18-21 around 1:00pm with my 86 year old mother. As I was trying to place her order by her being confused it was a little difficult. The person by the name of Lathenail Scott who was at the drive thru window who also took our order was so patience and understanding of my situation. He showed nothing but kindness not only to me but also to my elderly mother. I truly would like him to be recognized for his compassion and patience. We need more Mr. Scott in this world so that this world could be a better place to live.
