Steak 'n Shake not receiving service

Last night, on June 24, 2019, my boyfriend and his dad picked me up from O'Hare International Airport in Chicago. As I had been flying pretty much all day, I had had very little food, and so we decided to stop at Steak n Shake on Touhy in Rosemont for a late night dinner. We came in and it took about 5 minutes just for someone who was cleaning the floors to tell us to "pick a table and sit anywhere" because all of the booths still had dirty dishes on them. We were the only ones in the lobby waiting for a table and there were only like two other tables occupied, with food and shakes on the table. We also saw employees just sitting and chatting in the back instead of cleaning and/or serving. When we sat down, he said a server would be with us shortly. We sat there for about five minutes when I had to use the restroom. The women's bathroom was disgusting. One of the toilets hadn't been flushed, and it seemed that no one had bothered to take a look at it all day. This was about 11 at night. The floors were full of toilet paper and paper towels and one of the soap dispensers was completely out. The trash was overflowing. When I got out, a server still had not shown up. We sat for about another ten minutes before deciding to go through the drive-thru. When we went into the drive-thru, the line was very clearly not moving. When we came out, the line was at the same spot as when we came in. His dad works at the airport and has gone there many times, and he said this was absolutely atrocious.

Steak 'n Shake easton pa terrible service

On June 24th 2019
My family and I are lunch at steak and shake Easton. The service was horrible with the order taker saying instead of hello what can I get you. Saying nothing and staring me down. Then having your employee throwing my food bag at me. Meanwhile your restaurant was filthy with over flowing trash bins. Very disappointed as I live the fogelsville location.

Steak 'n Shake service

1st: employee and his girlfriend were arguing outside the front door, making it extremely uncomfortable to enter the restaurant.

2nd: waiter only brought out half our order (only ordered 2 meals with shakes), and then DISAPPEARED for 25 minutes. We had to ask another waitress after a table who came in after us was served their whole order.

3rd: when our original waiter finally returned he never asked if we needed anything else, just set the check down and walked away. We were clearly not his top priority.

What should have been a quick meal turned into an hour.

Steak 'n Shake drive thru

Me and my fiancée pulled into the Douglasville, GA location pretty late, 2 am or so. All the employees were standing outside smoking until we pulled up. When we got to the drive thru, the attendant was VERY rude. Name shows Shannon L. Saying things like "that it?" And had an attitude. Very displeased with our service. I understand it was late but there was no need to be rude.

Steak 'n Shake restaurant in beavercreek ohio

I work late and I sometimes don't get off till 11:30 at night and I go over to Steak and Shake in Beavercreek Ohio and every night for the past few months they said they are not taking orders in the Drive-Thru or have a sign saying the drive-thru is closed. I go inside to get a order taken and I'll stand up at the register for about 5 to 10 minutes and nobody will come and help me. I end up having to drive all the way to Huber Heights Steak and Shake location just to get served. I don't know if this is a company or franchise policy or the managers are doing this behind the owners back but it really ticks me off and you can't get good service at this location or any service at all for that matter.

Steak 'n Shake app and gift cards

Well here goes. What happens when the app gets updated? you lose the $5 reward earned for spending money through the app (this happened to me not once but twice). The second time this happened I bought a gift card to load the app. The update prevented loading it. Then a while later when I attempted to buy some food with the card (because the money never transferred to the app) it was emptied of the nearly $20 that was left! As a result I recommend NOT using the app and I certainly won't be buying any gift cards again! Tried to call them several times and can't get through. App has been a bit useless since.

Steak 'n Shake complaint

Hi,

I am a professional in the QSR industry. I have worked at the Wendy's International corporate office for a number of years and now work for Chipotle's new HQ in Ohio.

I don't think I'm going to say anything here that you haven't already heard. However, I will add on to the plethora of complaints and say that your C level staff should all be summarily sacked asap and replaced as they are not working in the best interests of the long term operations of the Steak n Shake brand. To anyone that works for your competitors, it is obvious that you are being taken for whatever is left of the company as it stands today and will continue to close stores "temporarily" until Steak n Shake is a thing of the past.

Your "CEO" or better labled Thief Executive Offender with his removing of the salary cap and bs about saving a million dollars by removing cherries from the shakes is by far the most abborent leader of a company I have ever seen. He should be fought as hard as possible under the law by anyone and everyone that holds shares of SnS.

What is a million dollars to Steak n Shake? The first guess of the uninitiated would be he is an idiot. That is simply not the case, though. To us that know how this type of business works, he is the worst kind of parasite and knows exactly what he is doing and it has nothing to do with the fiduciary duty of an officer of SnS.

Your service sucks. Your management is horrendously inconsistent from one manager to the next. Your crews are the most disengaged, uncaring individuals a QSR has ever known. The reason is clearly a corporate one. Whatever your message/story is obviously does not inspire people to care about your business. You are losing customers because your senior leadership team is a failure as a whole. You cannot tell me that somehow Wendy's, Chipotle, and other companies just somehow hire the right people to run their restaurants while SnS is somehow unlucky. That's a load of crap.

It does not take hours to make a hamburger as thin as yours no matter what time of day it is or what kind of equipment you have or the setup of your restaurant's kitchen. That is laughable that is even reported on. I could make a hamburger across the street from my house over a wood fire that I have to feed by hand while going back and forth from my house to continue serving my guests and will still beat the service level of your stores by a god damn mile. 5 cars is not a rush. If you cannot serve 4am then give up the 24 hours. Just stop. You have no idea what the heck it is you are doing nor does anyone there seem to have the passion to make any difference whatsoever.

I can completely understand too. Of course you don't. Because your C level team doesn't care. They don't have passion. They don't have a story to push down. They have no guiding light to point to in order to inspire anything. They are not good at their jobs and should be removed asap.

Good luck 👍 because your CEO apparently owns the company so you all might as well fall in line with his example and just keep your jobs as long as the last of your customers puts up with the worst service in the industry, bar none. In fact, a drunken know nothing led bar or even local strip club kitchens have far better service and wait times than you.

Be ashamed. You absolutely have no right to feel anything else about your role in this piss poor company.

Here is a pic of an apparently closed for the night site. Does it look closed to you? Did anyone tell me when it would open again? No, why, because they don't care and that is not their fault. Leadership is to blame and always will be. So they can say what they want to the masses but to those of us who know this business they are charlatans and the worst kind of business people. They know what they are doing. They know what the problems are. They just don't give a [censored]. Why?

In all honesty, the original complainant is correct about Steak and Shake’s service, employees, and overall system. It is very broken. I’m currently sitting in a Steak and Shake in Jackson, TN and we just waited 10 minutes before an employee came to our table for the first time. Luckily we were ready to order food as well, or else we would have waited much longer just for an order to be taken.

I have eaten at this restaurant for over 10 years, and over the last 2-3 years, I have noticed a steady decline in service, employee dedication, and overall care of the facilities.

The employees gather at the drink station and have long conversations, food and drinks are sitting waiting to be served while employees continue talking.

This “Manager” that replied, is part of a toxic system of employees and upper management that is failing their own industry.

Steak 'n Shake cheeseburger meal & service

I went through the Steak n Shake drive through yesterday in Athens, GA. I ordered the double bacon cheeseburger meal and had a terrible experience. There was no one in the drive through and it took around 10-15 minutes to get my meal. When I got home to open it, the bun was completely smooshed, the lettuce was expired and slimy, and the burger itself had clearly just been thrown together without any care. The fries were unsalted as well. The worker was very unwelcoming and seemed to not care about her customers. Here is the image of the burger :

Steak 'n Shake understaffed and ignored by staff

We arrived to the location in randhurst village in Mt prospect, IL. We were seated down immediately, but for 25 minutes we were completely ignored. No one came to ask for our order. Other people were seated, and their orders were taken within a few minutes. Ultimately, we left and ordered through drive thru since it would be the fastest option. This was my first experience at Steak n Shake, and will most likely be my last. I am highly disappointed.

Steak 'n Shake 8420 springboro rd miamisburg, oh 45342

Bathrooms have bacteria on the floor.
I seen a roach crawling in the dining room on the floor but I killed it. I also looked over the counter and the kitchen have alot of food on the floor.
Co-workers wear clothing that be inappropriate for work. Managers seems to not care. You can see the co-workers behind because her work pants is showing her whole butt.
Guys that work there have saggy pants often.

Steak 'n Shake service and products

Did an online order at the steak and shake in Beavercreek Ohio only to find out when i go to pick the order up that they did not have any fries which i was already charged for. Then when i said can i get onion rings they said that they were out of the to in fact they were out of a lot of stuff including several cheeses. The manger came out and rudely explained what i need to do to get my money back but did not try to offer me anything else i will not be returning and its a shame this use to be my favorite restaurant

Steak 'n Shake truffle hamburger

I have baught a truffle burger and perceeded to eat it. when I didnt like the mushrooms and decided it to take them out, I saw literal garbage inside the burger. I have the recete and time and location of this incident and would like to see the people who made this not just fired, but charged. If this case isnt solved, I would like to check the videos of this incident as to see what else disturbing substance was put. Please write back shortly to get this problem resolved.

Steak 'n Shake cleanliness

We frequent the Steak ‘n Shake in Statesboro GA often when we at town. Lately it has become more and more filthy. Tonight was our first time back in a couple of months due to it being so filthy last time. So tonight June 17, 2019. We ran in after soccer camp at 8:51. I was rudely told I had to place my order to go because they close earlier now which wasn't a big deal since we are an hour away. I ordered for my children and ran to the rest room. One toilet was broken completely with top off door hanging on from bottom and disgusting. The next toilet was missing the top and had a basket sitting covering it. Needless to say I didn't use it. The actually dinning area was incredibly filthy and Lois as if it hadn't been mopped nor cleaned since our last visit two months ago. As I was waiting on my food the lady frying my fries sneezed all over the food while frying and never bothered to cover her face nor turn away. At that point I just walked out ! Who ever owns this establishment should be ashamed with such poor management!

Steak 'n Shake 4 for 4 menu

I ordered 3 meals from the 4 for 4 menu, the waitress that took my order up-charged me for the chili that came with the meal. When I asked what the price change was for, I was told that I either got fries or chili with the meal not both. I also did not recieve the cookie that comes with the meal. Steak 'n Shake avon steak n shake everything

I understand why so many steak & shakes are closing. I quit going to the plainfield in one because of bad service, rudeness, and waiting over 45 minutes for them to come tell me they where out of fish.

Today we went into the avon indiana s&s. It took forever to get a server, so many were wandering around talking, when the food finally came out my chili mac supreme had been sitting under a hear lamp, my husband's fries were dried out from sitting under a heat lamp. His double steak burger looked like they just threw everyting on the plate.

I asked for a coke to go. It took the server a long time to get it to me and when she did she was on her personal phone, had been standing up at the drink center.

When we paid there were two managers at cash out they were busy talking to each other about different stores they worked at and did not greet me or asked if everything was ok. Took the check and money and handed me the change.

The worse was there where about four tables with customers and rest of the tables were dirty. There was not a table bussed while we were there.

I am very angry and upset. I do not understand how a place can go to the dogs so quick. Avon was a good one, not now. It has been one of my favorite places to eat for years.

Steak 'n Shake poor quality

My husband and I stopped into a Steak and Shake on Colonial Blvd. In Fort Myers Florida today to get a milkshake. The cup was not nearly full. This is not the first time we have been to this location and this has happened. At times they tell us to pull up and wait but they aren't even busy. Most of the time these people have no idea what they are doing. I tried to attach pictures but it won't let me.

Brought my daughter and her friends to this location to celebrate the last day of school. When we got there we waited at the wait stand and all servers had glanced over at some point and saw us standing there. After about 5-6 minutes someone decided to seat us. That was after I saw her pick up three clean glasses with her fingers inside them to fill them...

I have been sitting at steak and shake drive thru from 11:40pm to 12:38am. I was told several times to wait 5-7 minutes in drive thru. Worst service I have received! This place needs mystery shoppers or someone from corporate to pay a visit. Please fix this issue, this is the second time I went through this in one week. Two time in one week with the same problem. Very unprofessional!!

Steak 'n Shake drive through service, orders

Half the time I come through this drive through the workers are straight up rude while taking my order, and pretty much every time something is missing from my order. Today my two sides, last time all of my burger dressings, I can't leave this drive thru without double checking my whole bag anymore or I will for sure be disappointed when I get home!
