Standard Chartered Bank credit card secure transactions

Standard chartered bank UAE - a very unreliable and terrible banking system. As a consumer you trust them with your money and salary hoping that they will keep you safe from scamming online systems.

However, the bank's security systems are very weak, easily dodged by scammers and the bank has no facility to help in these cases.

I made a transaction online for booking flights and I used a secure OTP password to make the transaction for a specific amount with a vendor. The vendor somehow was able to charge me a higher amount and twice!

Called the bank and they said they can't do anything in this case to explain why this happened and can't do anything to stop the wrong transaction from going through.

I would strong advice against using SC UAE baking services if you want your money to be safe and with a trusted partner.

I think the bank doesn't deserve to be in this industry with weak quality of staff and weak security facilities.

Standard Chartered Bank credit card.

I have applied for the employee dream pack E1 on 26th of April. Its Been 23 days and only account opening letter arrived. I have also applied for the master cash back with the dream pack. They didn't share any tracking ID, I called them for last 8 days continuously I got a message from your bank regarding my credit card application on 8th of May and now Theyare telling me they require another 15 working days. I need it within 7-8 working days. Enough is Enough. That is extremely unprofessional. I have never expected this from your bank, I am highly disappointed. I will forward this conversation to the upper management of my company as well so that they can beware of your credit cards in future. I will discuss it with my company as well. If I haven't received in 7-8 working days. I will launch a complain and negative review everywhere for sure. This is extremely unprofessional..

I was given "Manhattan" Credit card by Standard chartered bank, where my salary account is.
I have never activated the said credit card, but now I have received a sms mentioning that - I owe an annual fees of R1178/- towards the bank as charges for the credit card which I never used/ activated.
There is no concerned contact person in the bank, who would attend to my grievances. I was asked to call via phone banking--- for response in vain.
This is highly annoying.
I hope this platform, would enable to get rid of the issue.

Standard Chartered Bank apathy in service delivery

On the 3rd of January 2017 I made an erroneous payment to my cable provider. On the 7th I proceeded to my local branch, wrote a letter justifying why that payment had to be reversed. I was told it would take 3 days. I returned to the bank on the 13th, I enquired why the matter had not been sorted. The staff gave me woolly narratives. I decided to be patient. The straw that broke the camel's back is when on the 25th of January I decided to see the branch manager for assistance. To my surprise, she made it clear that she would help me at her desecration! A not too subtle way of saying "I will help you when I want". I have never received this sort of treatment from any bank ever! StanChart takes the cake. I know I may not have that money reversed. I will not beg to have my money returned, for I know in Kenya, there is a culture of impunity and StanChart Kenya has decided to go down that route. I will close my accounts with StanChart with a heavy, sad angry heart.

Standard Chartered Bank opening of business forex account

Good Morning

I am based in Gaborone, Botswana. I am a priority client. We have company accounts and personal accounts with your bank.

We have been getting stuffed around for weeks by the personnel here in Botswana. We are trying to open a business forex account for my company Heart of Africa Gifts. Im about to loose an order for $9000 because nobody can get their act together! !

The shocking attitude here continues unabated and 6 weeks after starting this process we still have no account open. We were told it will be open by Friday, nothing...Then Tuesday, nothing. What a circus! !

Im trying to get the details of the CEO in Botswana as nobody else seems to care. The only person who has tried to help is the branch manager of airport junction, Maluta, she should be head of operations as she actually tries to help clients...what an amazing concept! !

If I loose this sale we will terminate all dealings with standard chartered bank and I will run my story in the local media as the public need to know this is what they can expect.

I have never had such poor service and indifference in trying to get something done. A bank of your size should be ashamed that this is how customers are treated. Disgusting is the only word that comes to mind !

Standard Chartered Bank improper holding fund and worst customer service

On 3 August 2016, I sent the money USD 14,000 from Hong Kong to the payee’s account in Standard Chartered Bank in Malaysia.

They refused to deposit the money to payee’s account but they also not return my money back!

My bank in Hong Kong is keep sending message to Standard Chartered Bank, but they never replied. My money has been hold by Standard Chartered Bank in Malaysia for 3 weeks, and they never give me any reason!

The payee approached to bank branch to request return my money immediately and I even sent a complaint email to Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia directly, provide all the proof which show their bank is holding my money, but they still not do anything!

I can’t believe such a global bank can offer such worse customer service.

I still can’t get my money back until now, I feel so helpless!

Standard Chartered Bank customer services handling is poor

I am Malaysian and now residing in overseas, there are few matters I overlooked as I was busy preparing my wedding in overseas. So I called the Customer Service Line from overseas to update my new mobile numbers and also my email addresses, they promised to call back within 3 working days and also via email but till now almost 2 weeks, nothing.

So I decided to call again to find out what is going wrong, they start telling me that they are call center and they cant do much. How am I supposed to go to the nearest branch to do the updates, Hello... why not they tell me in the beginning and rather let me waited for nothing. Wasting time. Other International banks have no issues on updating the contact numbers and address as long they verify everything is correct, at the same time they even send a mail as a notification that there some changes been made to the permanent address to confirm.

I hope Standard Chartered Bank will do something about it and please customer is always right, services comes first. I will never let anyone know that I was one the x staff from Standard Chartered Bank, so shameful with all these incident occurred.

Standard Chartered Bank priority banking

I have been their priority banking customer for over 5 years and have suffered from bad service over these years. They don't respond to queries. One has to send reminders to them and finally to their seniors to get any response. They mess up service issues very now and then. The RM continues to change every 3 months on average. You are never notified of such chnage and one finds out only when he tried to contact his RM to find out that he has left and someone else has replaced him as your RM. The list can go on and on. I have lost track of bad incidents have had with this bank. Seriously thinking of closing my account there now.

STANDARD CHARTERED UAE is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. They don't know the first thing about customer service. I have been their priority customer for over 8 years now and can write a book about their miss management, poor customer service, lack of knowledge of staff, poor communication and can go on and on. I hate them with passion and moved to Emirates NBD which I am extremely satisfied with.

Standard Chartered Bank manhattan credit card

On 31st december 2015 I had spoken to a customer executive from standard chartered bank card: request no provided by standard chartered card: [protected] where I was told excess amount of 3978.28 on my 4 blocked cards, and detailed exess as below:
Excess amount rs 994.57 on card no: [protected],
Excess amount rs 569/- on card no [protected]
Excess amount 1420.14/- on card no [protected]
Excess amount of 994.57- on card no [protected]

I again spoke to standard chartered card helpline: complaint no: [protected] (Given by standard chartered bank): 5th december, with below excess amounts on my cards blocked with standard chartered bank.

I will like to report the case of lack of vigilance and poor fraud prevention by standard charered where for 3 months I ahd to identify and fight with merchant, a nd standard cahrtered bank did not provide any help to me.

I plead for help from banking ombudsman and would recommend friends and readesr to always stay away from standard cahreterd credit card
- which dos wrong calculations and custoemr care tells you different data and stories
- because my acrds wer blocked in early december and pe 31st december update I had access of 3978/-, so what bluff standard chareterd did to not give me excess for the cards.
- ater I w as told by custemer care that I am send one draft but till date I have not eceived any draft from standard chareterd bank.
- is highly insecure credit card
- harasses customers and very hostile
With so many credit acrd options only fools will opt for standard chartered credit card and so I applied to close my cards and my relationship with standard chareterd bank, but it has been 2 months and I have not received any closure letter from the bank.

13th january: I received a call back from standard chartered bank executive, I asked her to send me closure letter and 4 drafts for excess in the card;
She told me that my accounts is setteld without paying me; standard chartered executive started cooking some stories to avoid paying the excess amounts, and finally I told that give me my account closure letter (Hard copy), though I already have closure emails from standard cahrted card services;

I am writing this to get closure letter for my relationship and my 4 cards... Though I have received email from standard charetrde bank but I want a printed closure letter.

I am complaining this matter to banking ombudsman if standard chartered does not issue me account closure letter as soon as possible.

I request banking ombudsman to help on my case of standard chartered bank fraud.

Standard Chartered Bank credit card ridiculous overdue charge

I got my SC credit card when I was in university. It was simple and easy for undergrads to apply for it as we just needed to submit our address proof and ID card. Everything was fine back then, I paid the minimum amount on time every month but they would still charge me a fee. Unlike my other two credit cards, they won't charge me any fee as long as I pay my minimum amount. I called the bank they said that I should pay it full. Regardless of whether the minimum payment has been, there will still be a fee. So, I let this go. Now, I didn't get to pay my bill for Sept and October as I was really having financial problems. I decided to pay off the charges in November. Suddenly, a debt collector calls me and says that the bank has charged me a 30% overdue fee. I said that I got a letter and I checked the amount online, my balance is only $12xxx (with the late and finance charges). He said that the bank charged me 30% overdue charge which resulted to $16xxx. I checked my transactions, they have all sorts of charges such as finance charge, late charge now a 30% overdue charge. How ridiculous! Seriously a THIRTY PERCENT charge? It's not like I didn't pay my card for 6 months or a year! I only missed out two months and I ALWAYS paid on time. Not to mention, the rude debt collector who threatened me that he would send someone to my home. I claimed that it was impossible as I'm at work during weekdays and he even asked me what time I got off work. How inappropriate! I paid off the $5xxx he demanded me to as I didn't want any more extra late charges. Overall, this is the WORST bank ever! I hold two other credit cards and never have I faced such encounter. Other banks would call me for a warning before they would start charging me anything! I cannot wait to cut this card off but it scares me that they'll chase me over some other annoying charges according to what I've read on this complaint board about Standard Chartered Bank.

Standard Chartered Bank worst service

Let tell my story. I applied for a credit card within Standard Chartered UAE via Sales Agent. He promised me that I will get my card within only 3 days. That time I had financial issues, so I trust to Bank Agent and provided to him all the required documents. I signed cheque for 20, 000AED and application papers, but next day Agent came back and asked me to sing to other paper due to my signature was too big on previous cheque, I signed again (Now its two cheques, each 20, 000AED) Then 3 days...4 days... Now its already more than 10 days I'm waiting. It's fine I could wait, but the problem is there is no respond from Bank. Seems like they got my signature and "Halas" forgot about me. I tried to call to the Customer Care Center, but to be honest it's a worst and unprofessional CCC. Everyday I was asking them, then finally (I guess that Agent tired of me) he told me that its declined. I made a mistake that I applied for their service. Now I would rather go to any other local bank, where the staff much more professional.

Standard Chartered Bank insisting me to pay the fraudulent online charges on my credit card

Standard Chartered is the WORST credit card that I ever had. I have always maintained a good credit standing with all my banks and this company is destroying everything! On august 2014 I received a text message about a php17, 000 charge on my card and is waiting for my reply for authorization, it was sent at 1:00am when I was already fast asleep. I read the message that morning and immediately called SC that I did not make such transaction, only to find out that there were 4 other unauthorized charges all made at the same time and day. I immediately complied with the needed dispute letter. And also followed up with their customer hotline several times on the status of my dispute. They initially reversed these said charges but then on Dec.2014 they charged back the 2 big amounts (17k and 36k+) that I already disputed and insisted that these were valid. They let go of the other 3 small amounts (1k+). I refuse to pay these amounts as I clearly did not make these transactions. I was even enrolled to secure pay wherein I need to enter in a PIN everytime I place an online transaction but these fraudulent charges did not go thru it but SC still insist it as valid. They have now been harassing me with collection calls and are threatening legal actions. Standard Chartered, I will face you in court if it will eventually come to it and will sue you for moral damages, harrasment and all others. You are destroying the good credit standing that I have worked so hard to maintain all this years. The Worst credit card company that I ever had to deal with.

Standard Chartered Bank credit card accounts

When you try to repay a loan the bank creates any number of hurdles. Ask for the amount outstanding, wait for 48 hours and then call them again. And when you call them again their systems are in my view programmed not to allow you get connected easily. I have almost always seen that they are unable to provide a consistent and correct value of the amount outstanding against loan account. I recently called them to close one such set of loans. Their call centre gave me a figure that I credited to the account. On the confirmation call that I had to make for closing their outdated process, the call centre gave me a much lower figure. almost 50% of the amount they say goes to closure charges. Getting through their escalation matrix ix almost impossible.
Finally, they do not provide the transaction summary or a calculation of how the amount was arrived at. For this you have to fight it out and they don't care much. All these just go to say that the bank does not account systematically and their figures are doubtful. I had a similar experience with them with respect to my personal loan that they had bought over from Barclays. They showed one figure on their website and provided a different repayment schedule in their mailer. This lead to lots of miscalculation and financial mess for me. The bank does not co-operate in allowing you to close the account. Doubt their credibility...

Standard Chartered Bank credit card enhancement

Sir, I am S. Dhamodaran I have a standard chartered bank credit card and I using this card for 5 years from 2010 to 2015 and my credit limit is 50, 000. But last year I got one message from standard chartered bank (we are decreased your limit for 10, 000 from the limit of 50, 000) I don't know why, but immediately I call to the customer care one person as told our bank as decreased a credit limit not only for you some of the customers also as decreased but I asked that person without any intimation how can you decrease my credit limit and the person said that I find the reason for you but no answer is their for you. Not only that person I tried many times and also I give a request but no response all times same answer. Right now my credit limit is 10, 000 in that limit also they are blocking my loan amount upto 8, 700 rupees. They are blocking this amount and also charge a over limit fee rs.500 for every month. If they block 8, 700 rupees means and my credit limit is 1300 rupees. The bank is cheating me every month so kindly take action immediately for my limit enhancement otherwise I will surrender the card.

Standard Chartered Bank frustrating experience - late and financial charges

I would like share my frustrating experience with Standard Chartered Singapore and create awareness about credit card late and financial charges.

Due to I seldom use this card and have many bills to handle, I make extra upfront payment into my credit card account to avoid any late payment or financial charges (see attached payment history from May 14). On Sep 14, I spent $2700, after deducting $400 extra upfront payment, I still have to pay $2300 and the statement due date is on 15 Oct. On 14 Oct, I paid $2000 on 14 Oct through AXS machine. On the next statement, I found out that my account has been charged with following charges:
- Late charge $60
- Financial charge $40.24

I called Standard Chartered several times to request them to waive the charges. The replies no waiver will be given no matter what reasons given:

LATE CHARGES:
- Although the minimum payment is $69.20 and there was $406.44 extra upfront payment in the account, the extra payment does not counted as payment and only counted to offset the bill. Only payment made after statement date (22 Sep) considered as a “True payment”. So the late charge was applied to my account.

- The payment due date is on 15 Oct. Although the payment was made on 14 Oct through AXS but the transaction was only completed on 16 Oct. So it is considered as late payment. No waiver can be made because on that.

- So although I pay extra upfront payment and only late payment of 1 day, not waiver will be given.

FINANCIAL CHARGES:
- For financial charge, full amount of financial charge will be made no matter how much you own the bank. For instance, if the statement balance is $2001 and you pay $2000 (owe $1.00), the charge will be
$2001 (full statement amount) x 0.067% daily basis = $40. Again, no waiver will be considered.

I am quite disappointed with the explanations and decisions from Standard Chartered. Personally I feel they are inconsiderate at all to their customers. I charged more to this card on Sep 14 and Standard Chartered seems do not wish to maintain the business relationship with customers. It seems like now Standard Chartered has outsourced their customer service and train them to give various reasons to reject customer waiver request.

Later I found out that different banks charge different rate of late payment and a financial charge, and Standard Chartered is one of the highest rate (late charge $60, effective interest rate 28%) charged among all banks.

Lastly, hope all credit card customers aware on this kind of issue and be careful in their credit card payment.

Thank you.

I had a similar bad experience with Standard Chartered Bank Singapore. They did call to remind to make payment just after the deadline but they still levied the late charge anyway and when I called to request for a fee waiver, the customer service officer first said that it was not possible to do the fee waiver and passed me on to another officer who just mentioned the same thing over again. Not sure what the point is after waiting on the phone for so long but this definitely is one bank which I will think twice again about getting their products and services in future.

Standard Chartered Bank credit card fraudulent charges

I got SC credit card an year back. I did a few purchasing and waited for my first bill. But my wait was not getting over and the bill didn't reach me. I tried to call customer care of SC but they said your details do not match and we can't help with anything to know your billing details. I was helpless, I tried many times at customer care and asked them a way out but they refused to tell anything until verification details match. I started receiving reception calls and I told them about the situation, then they told me that your birth date has been wrongly entered in the system, you need to get it corrected by sending some documents. Meanwhile they arranged a pick up person to reach out to me and I paid the amount I spent through credit card. I saw that extra charges have been applied for bill overdue. I reached out customer care and this time I told them the birth date present in the standard chartered database, so my details verified. I told them the situation that these charges have been levied on me to which I am not responsible. They agreed to waive off that amount. Again In the next bill I received the interest charges levied and NOT waived off even after discussion. I again called customer care and asked the same, they again agreed but again they didn't waive that amount off. I sent multiple follow ups emails and calls but in vain.
Above this each time a new person replied with not knowing complete matter and I had to explain him/her again.
I felt harassed and helpless. They kept on promising to waive off sometimes full money sometimes part of it but it never actually happened and kept on calling for money. I finally asked SC to block the card and waive off all the charges and stop calling for money. If you see history of the credit card you would find that there are charges which have accumulated only for interest that SC has levied to me and that too not for my mistake.
And now I am being asked to pay money which I am not responsible for, neither I have left any money from paying for which I did purchasing, just the charges levied by bank, even which was the mistake of bank.
How is this justified I fail to understand.
I haven't even received any statements since last March 2014.
I have communicated hundred times to Pay.[protected]@sc.com, card.services. But each time a new person talks and even doesn't settle the matter. I am frustrated, irritated, exaspareted
I am not entitled to pay anything. If there are any dues regarding my purchasing, I'll pay happily. They do not close the matter after hundreds of follow ups. I do not have statements. I am not notified of increasing charges. The details are not getting updated in their system. Settlement is not happening. No communication from bank. Please help me
