Lied on shipping date, didn't get what I ordered. Ignored once they got my money. Completely unprofessional. Buyers beware!

hi
This is with respect to the furniture we have bought from M/s Unique Furniture, shivaji Nagar, Bangalore in Nov 2009 and subsequent complaints due to bad material quality used during manufacturing of the products.
Within the very first year, owing to the bad Quality of wood used during manufacturing of the furniture, the furniture started developing big cracks, which they verified and repaired at my then residence in Bangalore.
Later on when same problems reoccurred again, this time instead of repairs - we insisted them for replacement of faulty parts. Following were the defects reported
a. Crack in wood in sofa set – poor wood quality
b. Defective wooden base in sofa set – poor wood quality
c. Stitch open in cushion – poor stitching.
d. Crack in centre table base – poor wood quality.
e. Alignment in cushions of diwan-cum-bed – poor craftsmanship.

They acknowledged the above defects during your visit to our residence Rohan Vasantha Apartments, Marthahalli Bangalore in 1st week of Feb 2011 and have agreed to take the following material to their works for proper “free of cost” repair
1. 3 seater sofa – 1 nos
2. 1 seater sofa – 2 nos
3. Centre table – 1 nos
4. Dining table bench – 1 nos
5. Big cushions – 3 nos
and agreed to repair the diwan-cum-bed at my premises itself, when their team will come to return the other repaired items back.
As a good gesture from our side – we also suggested from our side – that we can even share the transit cost 1 way (from your factory to our residence in rohan Vasantha Apartments Marthahalli in Bangalore).

After repeated reminders by means of phone call for almost a week of delay, they took the above mentioned items to your place in Feb 2011, stating lead time of approx 1 week to return the same. Again we kept on following up with them, requesting return of the material, but each time the target date was extended by another few days.

Later on 13th Mar, we informed that as we are leaving bangalore and getting relocated to Pune and the last date for them to deliver back the repaired material is 20th Apr 2011. We have shared the details of our program that our household good are getting packed on 19th Mar and even if they can return us the goods after repair on 20th morning (when our household goods would be loading) we are OK with the delay). But again after repeated reminders (sometimes even 2-3 times in a day) and their commitment to deliver by 20th morning, the items were never delivered.

When we complained the same to them on 20th Apr 2011, they told that we will take care and arrange to deliver the items by means of VRL courier to our place in Pune. We shared that this will result into an unwanted financial loss to us as our movers and packers has already counted this material into the items to be transferred and we are already paying someone to pack and move these goods.

Later after many follow ups again, on 4th of Apr 2011 (almost 2 months after our complaint), they informed that they are sending our material by VRL. We requested to send this material to our residence directly, which we were informed will cost us Rs 800/- extra, which wee agreed to pay from our side. On 7th Apr we were shocked to know that neither the material was send to our address, nor the payment has been made for transit. Also we have to personally go to the VRL logistics warehouse in pune to collect the same, which is on the far end of the city.

We spend our money and time in travelling and end up paying approx Rs 3, 000 as charges for transport from Bangalore to Pune and Additional Rs 1, 000 in cash for home delivery. Also we spend approx Rs 500 for the tax part, as this material did not accompanied our household goods and thus did not qualify as transfer of old material. After spending approx 6 hours of our days and Rs 4, 500 in all, when we opened the material we found that the material was not even in the shape it was given to them – some items were damaged even further. On top of that – they have not returned us the 3 big cushions at all ! ! ! !

We are totally dissatisfied with the quality of the products given to us and following is the net outcome :
1. Sofa set defective – visible cracks still there
2. Centre table defective – visible crack stil there, loosened joints
3. Diwan-cum-bed Defective - Bed foam alignment difference (not repaired in last 1 year despite request),
4. Diwan-cum-bed Defective - 3 big cushions not returned back to us.
5. Dining table bench defective – visible cracks still there.

We are planning to take this case to consumer court, in case if they are not able to deliver us a good quality product
