Select Home Warranty Home warranty

Select home warranty is probably a great company in cities- here in Redding California they have NOT been able to get vendors to help us. We have two rentals and our primary residence on contract with them and we have waited since October 2020 for a broken evaporative cooler, broken garage door, planing leaking and more between our 3 contracts with them. We have literally asked to be refunded and. an elderly contact a dozen times and never get a call back. Same thing with trying to get a vendor out- absolutely minimal communication. We are very tired and frustrated from paying out of pocket for things while also paying for a home warranty and would like a full refund

Desired outcome: full refund

Select Home Warranty Section 8 Contract - LOOPHOLE

Date of incident: 3/7/2021
Contract #1173160

Description of incident: Our oven went out. The oven is covered in the Platinum Level contract. Select Home Warranty is using Section 8 of the contract to assign an inordinately low replacement value to this claim which negates the very reason I bought the policy in the first place.

Be advised that Section 8 of their contracts gives them the right to arbitrarily set the depreciated value of any covered appliance. The effect to the homeowner is that they are relinquishing total control of what Select Home Warranty will pay for a claim.

On 3/16/2021 I requested a reassessment of the depreciated value. The request was flatly refused. (please see attached.)

Select Home Warranty is using Section 8 as a loophole clause to mislead the public into thinking they are covered for the inadvertent loss when in actuality, they are not.

Desired outcome: Reassessment of the value of the oven appliance and increase the reimbursement amount to at least the average value stated on their website.

Select Home Warranty Cannot get the reimbursement check

We signed a three years contract ($1045) with SWH in Sep 12, 2020 for our rental property in Arlington, VA. After filing the first claim and get estimation from the contractor, SHW refused to pay for the labor. They agreed to cover only parts but not the labor. After unsuccessful attempts to prove our point of view we decided to cancel the contact and did it on Nov 16, 2020. We got an email from SHW that the reimbursement check in the amount of $743.52 will be mailed in 15-30 days. After Christmas, we contacted the company asking about the check and found out that nothing was done and the check will be mailed in a matter of days.
On Jan 5, 2021 we were told that the check was finally mailed to the address of the property in Arlington. After 3 weeks of waiting the check #41608 never arrived. We called on Jan 28, 2021 and complained. SHW billing dept. officer provided their apology and said that the second check will be mailed to our mailing address in Paramus, NJ. Check #41751 arrived and we deposited it to our Ally bank on Feb 6. On Feb 9 that check was bounced/rejected by Chase bank and Ally bank cannot provide the reason for rejection and the same time bank charged us a cancellation fee of $7.50. We contacted the local Chase bank office suspecting that it's the fraudulent check. But the bank officer confirmed that the check is valid and SHW has enough funds for the check to be cleared. The officer cannot find the reason for the check to be bounced and advised to contact the issuer of the check. On March 2 we contacted SHW again asking why the check was rejected on Feb6, but nobody could provide the reason but we should get email with explanation in 48 hours. As we expected no email materialized and we called again on March 8 with the same question and to our total surprise manager Jacob John told that check #41751 was canceled by OUR request on March 2 and that the THIRD check #42090 was mailed to our Paramus, NJ address the same day - March 2. Today is March 15, 2021, and no check arrived. Today we called again and talked to another manager Johnny Parker. He assured again WE requested cancellation the check #41751 and that the new mailed on March 2 and we should wait a bit more.
They are playing with us these dirty games to keep our money in their coffers. It's a shame.

Desired outcome: Get our money back

Select Home Warranty Unreasonable denial

Thomas Babu

DALLAS, TX 75227
[protected]

Policy #1210948
Claim # [protected]

I am writing regarding the denial of my legitimate claim that was filed on 2/3/2021. My claim was in regards to a plumbing issue that needed to be resolved and repaired. I have been enrolled with Select Warranty for a long time and hoped my needs would be serviced as promised and paid for. Repairs were already paid $1450 dollars to stop the leak and repair the damage. My plumbing claim was denied wrongfully. I have two licensed plumbers that have stated the repairs are necessary. I have provided those requests as well with my claim. I have been denied without reviewing my concerns or other professional suggestions. I have multiple pages of supporting documentation that supports the need to have my plumbing issues covered by the warranty I am enrolled. Due to this plumbing issues, I have a lot of damage in the home. I have attached two pictures of the need repair quotes from other professionals.

Please contact with me with the information above to review and/or discuss. I am looking for a simple remedy / mediation to validate my concerns.

Thank You
Thomas Babu

Desired outcome: I would like to be reimbursed

Select Home Warranty Failure to honor warranty

We spent nearly $1, 100 on a 3-year home warranty. We have an induction cooktop. To replace the unit would cost more than $2, 000. Select Home Warranty now declines to repair our cooktop, saying it is "uneconomical to repair" and offered to pay us $200.

What a complete rip-off.

When I tried to cancel our policy, Select Home Warranty's Cancellation Department played like the phone was broken -- "Hello? Hello, is anyone there?"

Desired outcome: I want my $1,092 returned.

Select Home Warranty Double oven

Have used American Home Shield for over 15 years. We moved to a very nice home in Oklahoma. Many people said to make sure the septic system is part of the home warranty. AHS didn't have this. We hesitated switching, but AHS reps said they "Did more, covered more than any other company and the septic system." You have to pay annually, the moment you sign up. We never saw a contract, you are stuck on the phone, with the sales rep, so cannot look at it. No. They cover nothing. I would run away from this company. We are very disgusted with their not covering our oven/stove and they couldn't care less. Not having a home warranty is better than having Select Home Warranty!

Desired outcome: Full refund for our annual fee and any fees we have incurred

Select Home Warranty Company is not fulfilling contract

I purchased a home warranty from this company in October. My refrigerator stopped cooling around December 26th and I submitted a claim online December 28th. I called the company on the 29th because I hadn't heard back from them and was told that the claim was being processed and it would take 1 to 2 business days to get a technician out. After I called them, I received an email asking me to contact them because they needed more information. I called and the information they requested was the same information I had submitted online. I called them again on the 30th and was told they were still looking for a technician. I informed them that my food was going bad and I needed to escalate my claim because there didn't seem to be any urgency on their part. I spoke with a manager (who wasn't helpful) and he transferred me to escalations. The person I spoke with in escalations told me that, if the problem was that no technician had contacted me, he would have someone call me immediately. No one called me. I called the company again on the 31st and informed them that I really needed someone to come out that day because I was forced to throw food out. I was given the run-around and called multiple times to no avail. They seem to be doing everything they can NOT to do anything. I asked them about reimbursement for the food that spoiled and was told that was not in my contract. I responded that the only reason the food spoiled was because of their lack of action. Today is New Year's Day (Friday) so I don't expect any action until at least Monday...one week after I filed my claim. Every morning I have received an email from the company informing me they are looking for a technician and will email me the contact info for that person/company. This is beyond ridiculous and frustrating and it's costing me money that I shouldn't have to spend. Lousy company.

Desired outcome: Waiver of my service fee for this claim and reimbursement of $300 or the food that spoiled due to their ineptitude

Select Home Warranty Plumbing Issue

On 10 December 2020 I filed my first claim since purchasing Select One warranty in August 2020. I had to secure water to the entire home due to this. I handyman did not arrive until 6 pm on 15 Dec. The source of the leak was a hose running from under our kitchen sink to our dishwasher. Unable to see leak because it ran behind cabinets.
The handyman tapped off the providing water line and we were able to turn water back on to the rest of our home. I was told a invoice would be sent to Select One for approval and then the assigned handyman would return to remove the dishwasher and replace broken hose. Well today is 28 Dec and no one has contacted me. I called to request cancellation of my policy/warranty. Was informed it would be a $2 a day prorated charge plus $75. For us that comes to $347 cancellation fees. The claim/job was never finished. I will pay out of pocket for a new hose ($35) and finish it myself. I now know how they make their money, cancellation fees. #[protected]

Desired outcome: Would like reimbursement of copay of claim never finished

Select Home Warranty Home warranty service

After I got the most expensive package (599.99/yr) I received the worst service, with many runabouts when I called in for service or to get answers. They did not honor their contract to provide the service I had signed up for, they were not able to provide a technician to fix my fixture that was under contract, and asked me to find my own technician. After hiring a technician and having the technician call them to get approval to replace the fixture they refused the service claiming it was under 30 days from when the agreement was signed, when in fact it was 59 days after the agreement was signed, which I have the agreement email, and the credit card receipt as proof. After many attempts to collect for the technician, which I had to bring in based on their own recommendation, and getting the spin around I finally requested for cancelation of the entire contract. On cancelation they prorated the service fee, plus a cancelation fee, plus the cost of an earlier service that I had received at the time I had the service and was being charged for by prorating my fee. In other words they charged me for both the warranty and the service that I was supposed to be covered for under the warranty.

Desired outcome: Refund entire $599 contract fee, or pay for the services

Select Home Warranty Oven

Oven went out, need a new one. I bought policy in September, but it seems they have a way out with the policy stating they will only pay 150.00 because I've not had the policy for 3 months. Its now December so?!
I believe they will find a way out one way or another! Would not recommend this company to anyone. I had choice home warranty in the past without this loophole. Should have went back to them

Select Home Warranty Plumbing

When purchasing the warranty, I was told that they will respond with in 8 hours.
on Thursday December 10th in requested service for a plumbing problem at that time I was told they had to elevate the claim and I would be notified in 24 to 48 hours.
After 48 hours (Saturday December 12th) I called to follow up and was told the claim was under review and I would be notified with in 24 to 48 hour but they would expedite claim and I should here from the on Saturday December 12th.
I feel that I have been royally taken advantage of.
When requesting how to cancel my coverage I was told it would be prorated and a $75.00 service charge.
I feel this is a very dishonest company

Select Home Warranty Home Warranty

Filed a claim September 13, 2020 and still do not have a service dispatched for a repair.

When we called to ask what is going on we are told to find our own tech, pay for the repair and submit for review for reimbursement. That's not the way it's supposed to work.

I suspect they can's finds techs is because they don't pay them promptly.

Select Home Warranty Air conditioner repair

I signed up with Select Home Warranty to cover residential appliances. I paid for a 3 year contact. Big mistake. The have never reimbursed me for any request for service. Here is the latest. My AC unit went out in June this year. I filed a claim. I got an E Mail response that they would respond within 24 to 48 hours. They did not respond. I called. They did not have a service technician in my area. I called the service technician that had responded to an earlier HVAC claim. He di not work for SHW warranty any more because they did not pay him. I asked him to come out and repair my unit. He did and I sent the repair invoice to SHW. Months went bye. When I asked for an answer, they asked for a picture of the unit. I sent it in. Again no response. When I followed up, they asked for a copy of the invoice. I sent it in again. Again no response. Again I followed up. I got an e mail on 11/23/2020 - 5 months after the original claim - dening my claim. They denied it because I did not use their service technician.
Because they do not have service technicians that can respond to a claim, you can expect that you will never get reimbursed for a claim.
Stay away from Select Home Warranty!

Select Home Warranty Home warranty claims

Fraudulent company. Do not do business with these jokers. Just look at their reviews here and bbb and elsewhere. I should have but and fell for their marketing reviews. I bought 3 years for my home and 1 year for a rental property. Total $1425. Problem 1- electrical problem with rental and called - no power to half the house so this was rather urgent. The agent said would escalate. Never received a service provider. Had problem fixed out of pocket - select home warranty llc fail. Problem 2- dishwasher leaking at my home. Select home warranty llc emailed me a company I was to call for scheduling the repair. Repair company never heard of select home warranty llc and did not have a working relationship with them. Called select home warranty llc and explained. They claimed they never sent me a service provider. I escalated to speak with a supervisor which took some doing. Nothing resolved subsequently received same referral over and over from company that does not work with select home warranty llc. Called to cancel and refund. Select home warranty llc wanted to charge cancellation fee and other fees. I have never received service on either claim and could not therefore felt I should get full refund of $1425. At that time I was only about 1 week past 30 days of purchase. They refused - disputing purchase with credit card now. Plus I found out through these phone calls that they do not cover any labor. This was not how the policies were sold to me. Sales person said everything would be covered except service call fee of $60.

This is a scam company - they do not live up to what they sell you. Sales person misrepresents actual warranty plus in my 2 cases they could not even provide me with any company to do repairs. When you have a problem and need it fixed who has time to be jerked around by warranty company either by never sending you a service provider or sending one that laughs at you over the phone saying that they get calls from the fly by night warranty companies all the time that they don’t work with.

Select Home Warranty a/c

This is the second request I have made for a repair that has been rejected by Select Home Warranty. I have an outside A/C unit that stopped cooling last week. Called Select and they arranged for a technician, since each of the reputable companies I tried to identify would not accept Select Home Warranty as a payee. Technician arrived and spent a few minutes and decided he needed to come inside to see the inside furnace. He said the unit was large for the house size (What?). The inside unit was not the problem. He left after collecting the service fee and said the unit used an older refrigerant and he suggested replacing both units. Got a response from Select Home Warranty saying the unit was not maintained properly and would not be repaired. Called technician and he said that he spoke to Select and that was not what he said. Originally customer service rep asked me when had I had the unit serviced last. I said I didn't know (even though I had just had unit completely serviced early this year). I believe this is what they had hoped to hear to deny the claim. I am in process of getting notarized statement and paperwork to show unit in great working order . This is a severe scam company. Sounds like they only have one customer service rep and one salesman; as I always seem to get the same people even when I ask for someone else. Please make everyone else aware and share this on your facebook pages.

Select Home Warranty Arbitrarily changed my contract and over charge credit card w/o authorization

On july 16, 2019 I purchased a one year home warranty with select home warranty with an "end date - aug 14. 2020". My contract was for one year with a single payment in the amount of $379 plus $75 service fee call. However, my credit card was charged $1720.00! I was not aware of the overcharge until 11/5/2020. Once I found out, I contacted select hw immediately and requested a refund for the 4 years unauthorized payment they made on my credit card. They insisted that I upgraded my contract to a 5 year warranty which was totally bogus; they have no prove of my upgrade except what is in their file. But I am holding the contract they sent me when I purchased the policy clearly stated "contract term - one year". They refused to give me the full refund for the 4 years because I did not notify them to cancel the policy after one year. Why would I need to cancel something I did not purchase!

Don't believe their all 5-star reviews online. This is a very shady operation! Once they have your credit card info, watch out! Be very vigilant as they are unethical in their dealings.

Select Home Warranty Frozen cartridge in the wall for bathtub faucet.

Let the buyer beware!
I recently purchased a home warranty plan with Select Home Warranty. This company is dishonest and does not provide full information upon signing up. I put in a claim for a plumbing problem and it was denied. Someone came out and informed me it was not normal wear and tear and I was not covered. How could a cartridge inside the wall not a fixture not be covered.

I gave this company another chance as I had a problem with my garage door closing. After three days I received a letter from Select telling me they did not have anyone right now to send out to address our problem and that I should get my own repairman to evaluate the issue and perhaps they would reimburse me. I cancelled this contract and they charged me $75 plus a prorated amount of $140 for canceling. Note I was never supplied with a copy of the contract and I was with Select for only one month. I paid $460 for contract and was only returned $300 for one month of non-service.

Select Home Warranty Broken dishwasher - not being fixed under platinum policy

Dishwasher broke. Claim filed 10/20/2020. Clayton Services came out. Follow up to Claimant; 1. Dishwasher cannot be repaired! 2. Claimant was informed that Select Home Warranty WILL NOT approve the costs! Sister called today; 11/12/2020; 1 month later. Sister called Select Home Warranty. Was informed repair was approved. But, sister still has broken dishwasher. Email was sent to claimant; authorizing $100! Omg! Rude! Asko d1776 dishwasher costs $1300~. Website states repair it or replace it! Simple as that. Fraud! Clayton service has since closed their doors and are no longer answering their phones. So, a 2nd contractor needs to come out! Ray, the sales rep trying to sell me a policy; kept asking for my credit card. Told me; affirmative, it breaks we fix or replace! BS! So, I hand over my credit card; to a policy I have no idea what I am buying!
