I have been in contact with Ms Bixler in the hope to find an Aby since January 2018. Breeder is located in Pasadena, keeping cats and god knows what else under awful conditions, the house is absolutely disgusting, you can barely breathe as you step into a giant liter box. Kitten are kept under unsanitary and dangerous environment (electrical wires exposed for kitten to chew on as 1 example). I was warned that some breeder can be special but naively, I thought that breeder would at least be overly kind to pets. I reserved a kitten eventually though Ms Bixler always kept it very vague, the process, the fees, what's included, timeline etc. I was finally able to schedule a visit as it seemed I made the cut for being potential buyer. That is when I saw the condition in which she keeps her liters. During this short visit, I couldn't breathe without thinking I would catch something, and Ms Bixler looked sickly too, probably from enclosed space, animal feces everywhere etc. She told me that she would keep the kitten until 13-15 weeks after birth which exceeds normal time frame. I left without saying anything. I emailed her last Saturday 3/31/18 letting her know that it was my wish to receive the kitten ASAP when healthy enough, as I need to bond with the kitten and to get him out of that awful house she keeps them in. She flat out emailed me back accusing me of being confused as to what I wanted. She obviously did not understand the request or found another buyer and was plain mean about it all, refusing to sell me the kitten after all. So this complaint is to not only warned other buyers not to get anything from her as she as zero respect for others and for treating those poor little babies in unlawful conditions.

Sarah Bixler was a very accomplished breeder. She was one of the first and foremost breeders in her area. I got two cats from her and have known her for more than 40 plus years. I even achieved an accomplishment of recognizing the second best cat in the world I got from her with the International Cat Association. Sarah loved, loved her cats and in her earlier years had a home more accommodating. It was sad to see her age and have her cats live in poorer conditions. That said, I am just sharing it isn't easy to get old, with no help on hand and to try and deal with the cats you love and think you are doing right and are not. Who knows where you will be at that point or I? Sarah has now sadly passed away. If you read this please say a prayer for a true cat lady.

Sarah is such a kind person. The conditions in her house didn’t used to be like that. Yes, it’s old and parts are dark, but her cats have free roam, except for the kittens of course and there’s no smell, really. We got our first Abyssinian from her in 2011 and she grew up to be the best, most lovable little cat. Then we got a pair of Somali sisters from her in 2016 and they too grew up to be sweet lovable little cats.
Sarah is getting up there in years and as far as I know lives alone, but does have a helper. I don’t know much about her. Maybe she’s just having trouble keeping up the house these days.

You do not want to buy from this breeder. As the buyer said above, the house is in a horrible condition, it smells like you are in a huge litter box. And it is so dark inside, because all of the windows are blocked off, I'd say for good reason, so no passerby has to look in the window and see anything. The cats are just wandering around the whole house, when you want to go, she will tell you to call before you come, that is just to lock up all the other cats so you don't see how many she actually has, so don't call before you go, and let me know how many cats she has. I'd love to know. But anywho, the floor has a well worn path in it, so we all know where she walks on a daily basis, and all the rooms are closed BUT her "bedroom" door. But the real point of this review is to tell you how bad of cats they are, not the condition of the house (though that is a major part of this review as well, and may be WHY her cats are so bad.

My cat came home reaking like pee. But he was a horrible, horrible cat, he didn't want human affection in the slightest, he acted like a feral cat. Anytime I wanted to pet him, he would run away from me, and when he first got home he broke things in the house. He was a true tragic mess, and I don't see how any cat from her could be a good cat. Purely on how she raised them as a young kittens. And he was ugly too, nothing like my other two Abyssinian's
