Santander Consumer USA Payments and fees

My name is Beverly Parker I have a Chevy Sonic with this finance company, I have had the vehicle for aprox 4 years and the cost was $12000. today the car has been repossessed and I out about $15000. I want to know what happened to the money that I have paid for this vehicle. It seems that every penny went to something else and I don't know where. I just want to know if this is legal. when they auction the car I know that they won't get the price that they are asking for. So this will mean that I will still owe for a car that I don't have. I need help.

My name is Teresa Jones. I took out a car loan in 2016 with Santander Consumer USA in May. Last year in the fall the company kept calling me about car payments that I was making. In January 2019 they repossessed my car. In January 16th this year 2019, I left my home to go to work and my car was gone. I went back in the house and called Santander. They said I was 4 payments behind, October through January. My car payments are due every month on the 15th. They charged me about $400 for fees: repo fees, late fees and interest. They told me I could not get the car without paying the fees. The total cost I had to pay them was $1235. The customer service reps had horrible attitudes. They tried to make it impossible for me to get the car back. They were disgusting. I had to be re-evaluated for income eligibility by them and they sent the information to another department to get their approval. I paid them the money and they gave me the information on how to pick up the car. When I get the February statement there was $500 in fees on it. I call them and ask them where did those fees come from the person immediately got an attitude. She said that the fees were the fees from the repossession. She said that I had only paid for the late car payments and nothing else. She demanded that I pay the fees right then. I told her what I was not paying anything until she explained to me what those fees were for. I placed a second and third call to them. Finally on the third call in March I was told by a supervisor that I did not pay any repossession fees on the day my car was repossessed. What I actually paid was five car payments. I was told I was behind four. They charged me for an extra car payment without my consent and they lied to me about the repo fees. I decided to go online and look at my statements. I saw that I paid my October, November and December payments already. I was going through a lot of stress because I had been trying to catch up on all my bills because I have been out of work for a long time. They had no reason to repossess my car. The payments were on the monthly statements. I went and looked at my bank account and the money had been taken out each one of those months for the car payments. They told me I was behind four payments and that is why they repossess my car and I wasn't behind at all. This was also put on my credit report. January was one day behind because I paid it January 16th. I had so much stress trying to talk to these people. It was really bad. Defamation of character, loss of income (could not go to work) pain and suffering and taking the car with no reason. I paid them twice for October, November and December. They deceitfully took February from me by making me think I was paying those repo fees and they didn't want to tell me I had paid a month ahead. I saw legal action was necessary. That was wrong. My email to contact me is teresajns3@gmail.com.

Santander Consumer USA Fraud charges

My car was repoed Nov 27th of 2018, I paid the full amount of $1580 to get it back which this amount included any fees there was along with the past due amount. Since this all has been paid and I have gotten my vehicle back Santander continues to try charging me fraudulent fees along with my monthly amounts. I have spoken to numerous amounts of different people as well as a guy in the executive department who assured me that the amount paid when i got my vehicle back had not been applied to the correct areas and that he was taking care of it and the accounting department would fix the issues. I called back a week later speaking to another person who told me it had all been updated and fixed and the money was applied to where it was suppose to be. Then proceeded to tell and assure me there were no more hidden fees, everything was paid up to date as well as ahead on my account resulting in my next monthly payment (feb 23, 2019) a little less than normal. Everything had been fixed applied to where it was meant to go and there was nothing behind or owed on my account until my next monthly payment. I called today 2/15/19.. 10 days later from speaking with the lady who told me all was fixed and good I called because I was going to make my next payment ahead just to be told there were new fees added on to my payment. They are now saying the fees which I was told by both previous people as well as the executive guy were paid in the included amount i paid to get my car back have not been taken care of and the same thing they were saying before all of this was "fixed" as well as now saying that the fees are a different amount for the 4th time. Every time i call they tell me something different and it just keeps going up and they keep trying to add fees that do not even exist. I have had it with this company and its bullcrap fraudulent charges. I will continue to proceed with this issue legally and with the help of attorneys and whoever else required to take care of these problems and these fraud people.

Santander Consumer USA Loan

My car was repoed 3 months before payoff on 1/16. Only behind a month and a half. They refused to help due to my daughter's death. Took my only car at 2 an. Required 153$ to get car back. Paid that, then told i needed 1500$ more dollars. And if i couldn't get it back before 1/22 (my due date) i would also need that months payment to get car back. I then paid the 1500$ required on 1/18 to get car back. Then proceeded to pay the car off. And i over paid about 1600$.

The 1500 included the month and a half behind (car payments only 292.86) plus god knows what else. When i paid the 1500$ off, it was current until feb 22nd. Hmmm. They told me it would have to be paid if i couldn't get car back before 1/22. They told me only 150$ repo fees

Stated my overage check was 1600. Held for 30 days. Stared would be sent out on feb 19th.

Feb 04th, noticed a 385$ transaction. Called, it's more repo fees. Mind you, the car was only gone for two days.

Then stated my overage check was now 1300$. And wouldn't be sent until March 12th.

Y'all have my money. I paid my car off! You took my only vehicle over $435. Even after i called over 35 times due to the death of my child and refused to help in any way! You got your money. Plus some. And now holding MY MONEY. Bet i can't collect interest on that! So what? In a few weeks y'all will charge me something else?! Then claim the accounts cleared but since it's cleared after another charge you have to hold my mkney another 30 days?!? Give my money back. Too bad i can't repo yalls car because you owe me money now.

Santander Consumer USA Payments

Through Bill Pay from my Bank of America account 5 $50 payments were sent in error (my error) to Santander Consumer USA in Texas. These payments were intended to go to Santander Bank as a Checking account deposit to my sister's account. The acct # for that is [protected]. This was listed on each payment. Because these were not loan payments and because there was no Loan # on them, Santander Consumer was not (understandably) able to apply them to any account. I understand that Santander Consumer USA is a separate entity from Santander Retail. I understand that they felt they could not pass the payments on to the correct location. What I do not understand is why the payments were not reversed. They Knew they were not Loan Payments, they Knew the account # did not match any Loans. Why did they keep the payments? Where are the payments. BOA contacted Santander both on the phone and in writing. We have confirmation from Allison and Sharissa at Santander Consumer USA that none of the payments were applied anywhere. We also have written confirmation from both that the situation would be resolved within 30 business days. That was December 13, 2018. Today is February 6, 2019. I have made numerous calls to both BOA and Santander Consumer customer service. Each company assured me the onus was on the other company to take care of my issues. I went in person to BOA and was told Santander needs to reverse the payments. to this very minute there has been no resolution to this ongoing, seemingly out of control predicament. I am out $250. Santander Consumer USA has that $250. I want it returned immediately.

Santander Consumer USA Auto loan/financing

I was financed thru this company in February 2015, at that time I didn't know they were a rip off company with daily compounded interest. My financed amount was $15, 000 and now 4 years later they say I still owe $13, 000, impossible I was charged a $10.95 fee 34 times for a total of $372.30 for paying my car note out of my checking account I am due this money back. I want to file charges against them but I don't know how to do so. They will not refinance the car and although I have had some life challenges none of the payments I made have gone towards the principal, they have an FFF rating with the BBB. I was not explained what I should have been regarding this company or I never would have agree to a contract with them. Can anyone offer any advice? I saw the story on the news about them here in Orlando and that's how I gained the information.

Santander Consumer USA Santander/ debt payment

I purchased a Mazda 6 from car max around 2014, I had the car repoed, which I admit was my fault because of nonpayment due to being unable to pay.

I looked at my payment form and seen that I owed about 12, 000. I made payments for over a year and that amount never changed! Towards the end of my payments to them, I asked why it never went down since I was making payments and they said that it was because I owed more than that.

They said I owed 12, 000 plus another 12, 000 dollars. The person said they financed me for 24, 000. This doesn't make sense 24, 000 on a 12, 000 car. The price for the car at the dealership was 12, 000. So, when the was taken from me, I received a letter that said when they sell the car, the amount it would be sold for would be deducted from what I owe.

Finally I received a letter saying they sold the car and how much I owe. They sold it for around $500, and I owed about $11, 700. What happened to the 24, 000 that I owed? If that is not the case and what I was paying was just for the $12000, then what was I making payment too? We're they just pocketing that? That is why I stopped paying because I never seen the amount owed lower when I was making payment!

Santander Consumer USA Auto loan/ repossession

June of 2017 I purchased a vehicle through santander for $12, 000. In december 2017 the vehicle was repossessed by santander due to $189.00 unpaid fee. Santander reinstatement department said that as of november 1, 2017 they had made a "new company rule" that anyone that had a vehicle repossed within the 1st 6 months the loan had to either be paid in full or the vehicle would be sold by santander. My contact never states the new rule

Santander Consumer USA Car loan

My Versace Note got repossed in 2016. Santander Consumer sold the car and went up on the loan amount and raised the interest on the loan. After contacting them before the repossession concerning the status of me losing my job at no fault of my own. They were very rude about it and stated that I was 1 month behind and they would be sending the tow company during the middle of the night to get it. I said for 1 month and even after giving a date that I would be able to pay it. The customer service just laughed and said ; oh well that's on you. I couldn't believe that someone that is supposed to be professional could be so inconsiderate and rude. Tried several times after repossession to get the true amount so I could start working on paying the balance off and was told I would be paying this off the rest of my life because they was going to keep adding daily interest and when they send to Credit Bureau it will never close because they will keep revolving the account so I will not be able to get anything else because my credit will be bad. And sure enough my credit is ruined because of what Santander Consumer USA is doing. Please help me and many others that have experienced this and experiencing this now from the company to put an end to it. Everyone has experienced a downward situation in life but to take advantage of one is ungodly. Thank You

Santander Consumer USA predatory lending

I got an auto loan with Santander USA on Dec 31st 2014. At the time I was working, but shortly after purchasing the car I was laid off. Once I secured new employment I did everything possible to get current and stay current however with they excessive charged I have not been able to catch up. My original loan amount was 21, 822, however as Oct 31, 2018 I owe 24, 621. I have paid this company over 15, 000 and nothing has gone to the principle everything is going to interest. When I have discussed this with Santander they said I would need to pay more than my monthly payment of 565.98 to see something go to the principle. They call me 3 to 4 times per day all times of the day and night. This company has defamed my character reporting incorrect information on my credit report. I have asked them to send me and itemize detailed statement in writing stating every payment and they have not only direct to the website. I believe Santander has violated my consumer rights with their predatory lending practices. I really do not know what to do

Santander Consumer USA 2009 nissan

I purchased a 2009 Nissan which was financed through Santa Consumers. The vehicle was purchased for 19k$. My monthly payments were $369.00 a month. I paid on this vehicle for about 4 years. After becoming unemployed, I called them and inquired about the balance on the vehicle and it was over $10, 000.00 more added to the cost of the vehicle in late fees and or interest. So instead of purchasing the vehicle for 19k they were actually charging me $29k. Unfortunately, I didn't check their credibility until after they reposessed my car and sold at an auction. I discussed this issue with a neighbor and he informed me of the terrible reviews received by many other Consumers.
