Santa Cruz Marine Inexperienced and way too expensive

I hired this company to do some work on my boat in the Santa Cruz Harbor boatyard. I had them drill and tap some holes into the keel and install some new keel bolts. They also agreed to install a new packing gland on the engine prop shaft at my request. I was assured that they had the necessary equipment to make short order of the drilling and tapping operation. After spending an hour on the engine, it was clear that the mechanical work was too much for this young crew. The owner conceded to being in over his head and brought in another boatyard contractor to finish the engine work. To drill the keel bolt holes, the crew used nothing more than a department store battery operated drill. This took many many hours to complete, all of which should have taken just a few hours to complete with more appropriate industrial equipment. In short, I was charged an enormous amount of money to complete this project which should have cost half of what I was charged. I payed this young crew for their on-the-job training! They are overconfident in their capabilities and do not have the necessary equipment to do what they say they can do. There are some very capable and talented boat mechanics in the Santa Cruz area. This company is not one of them.
