Safeway firing of the night manager at safeway 1358 located at 1525 wilson blvd

Matthew Romero has always tried to protect customers by reporting out-of-date food and his employees. He goes the extra mile to make this neighborhood store friendly and safe.

I hope corporate Safeway/Albertsons respects the needs of customers and workers by supporting it's manager's rather than by firing them for doing the right thing.

Respectfully,

a neighborhood shopper

Safeway unethical behaviour

Today, A Safeway commercial driver just tried to run me off the road twice on a 3 lane state route. He was going too fast and driving absolutely out of control. He flipped me off and was riding my rear for miles, so close I could not see his bumper. Appalling, unprofessional and reckless. He scared me to death. I called police who are currently out looking for him. This occurred on SR 167 in or around the Kent, WA area. A white male with a beard who needs mental help and anger management. He should NOT be the representative of Safeway or on our highways in control of anything. His trailer # was 692F. Thats all I could get as he was activel trying to kill me. I left the freeway and called police. Please help me.

I expect an email in regards to this. Thank you

Safeway apricots and blackberries

Purchased 6 apricots and a small container of blackberries this afternoon to make a cobbler. Started cutting the apricots and found that they had mold inside by the pit on four of them, then opened the container of blackberries and they were moldy on the bottom.

The apricots cost me $9.99. No clue what the blackberries cost. Very disappointed with your produce, over and over again. This was the worst though.

Safeway employee

I would like to make a complaint about Shabana at store #997. She is an employee at Starbucks. She recently helped me about 2 weeks ago. The manager did resolve but I'm still upset since I came in another time after the incident and she was giving me dirty looks. The incident that led to her disliking me was she took my payment by card and said it didn't go through so she took my payment again, and then she said it was incorrect. We stood there for a good half an hour so many people in line behind me was leaving. I was just so upset it took so long and I was on a break at work.

Safeway signature select frozen berries

Signature select frozen berries. I have purchased frozen strawberries countless times in the old green bag with the large strawberries. Since you have changed your bags to the white bag I have purchased strawberries twice and both times they taste of rancid freezer. I bought your frozen raspberries rancid freezer flavor. Blueberries the same. I cannot make smoothies with these frozen berries they do not taste like the actual berry. I have course, always buy the big bag, because they used to be on sale and tasted great until something changed obviously not just the packaging. Are used to use them almost every day, now I can't eat them at all, and have wasted money. This complete board does not give me a location to put my address phone number or any contact information, so obviously you do not plan any reparations to anybody. Just in case my name is Glenn Best my phone number is [protected] email [protected]@gmail.com I thought this was a Safeway complaint forum now I realize after a ton of red tape to submit this it is a complaint board for everything so I imagine, nothing will be done about this. I think I just wasted my time, have a great day

Safeway cashier service

Cashier will actually lock the door before the closing time which is supposed to be 12 am, but they will usually close at 11.50 and refuse the customer from entering. Some of the cashier will shout to the entering customer to ask them go out when time goes close to 12 and those staff want to go home early, especially the old white women with short grey hair really pissed me off today.

STOP going right at closing! You've all day to go shopping, so why would you wait till closing to keep trying to do your shopping. No one wants to stay late because of you and no one cares if you are pissed off.

Safeway service

I love Safeway but prob will stop going. I complained about Kim the women who runs the self checkout before. She is so unfriendly and nasty. Never smiles never speaks. and i am so uncomfortable when she is there just want to put my merchadise back and leave. I have talk to store manager about her before and he said he would not put her at the slef checkout had several complaints about her. Than why is she back at the counter. I hate to have to call her over like today becasue my reciept whck i thought did not print. She looks at you like you stole something and than says is that your reciept on floor under a fixture, I had to walk around the other side and reach down to get it. Good customer service would of been let me get that for you. I think i will just shop Giant up the street. i never have a problem there. I was not going to come back to safeway but the store manager assured me she would not be working there and the last couple of times she has been. I might add everyone else in the store is outstanding. But one person makes it bad for everyone else.

Safeway [censored] ads, apps, and gimmicks

Can even get my complaint in. Went to service desk. Tried to fill out survey. Says expired. Call customer service. More arguments. Fill out complaints and it disappeared. Does any of your IT work?
You owe me $1.50
At this point I don't care. After maltreatment 5 years ago I returned to the chain I had shopped for 30 years. Basically was told to go screw myself so I shopped Walmart. To tired to fight. So now YOU have "a nice day"
i.e., go screw yourself. My complaint is in your system when I called.

Safeway service

I live in Sunnyvale two blocks from the Safeway on Bernardo. I would say I need something everyday and spend alot of money at Safeway.

Last weekend I needed a few things so I stopped by Safeway to pick them up. There was a short line behind me and the clerk finished ringing me up and I almost always use my Stanford Federal Credit Union visa card, however, I left the card at home and I proceeded to write a check. The clerk was disrespectful and advised that I probably would not be allowed to pay by check and when I gave him the check he proceeded to tell me that I had not written enough checks at Safeway so it was not authorized. First I have never bounced a check at Safeway and I do not see why I should have a problem writing a check and I was embarrassed. He was so rude that the gentleman behind me in line., paid my bill.

I do not ever want to go back to Safeway.

Safeway gas station clerk

I am writing this complaint that occurred today around 5am, 7/09/19. Tried to purchase a pack of cigarettes from the gas station clerk, handed my ID (my DOB 8/4/1997) and the clerk said that the date of my ID was invalid and refused to sell it to me. Such an inconvenience since I have a long drive and it was much needed. I buy it here all the time, but this morning she was rude and refused to sell it to me saying I was a minor, even while reviewing my ID card multiple times. SO UPSETTING AND SO INCONVENIENT!

So you will be 22 next month. I don't get it. Why wouldn't this person sell you cigarettes. If they had scanned your license bar code on the back, they would have seen you were old enough. Also, if they manually entered your birthdate into the system it would have showed them you were 21. What a dunce.

Safeway mice

I worked for several years for a major grocery chain and never saw what I saw today. As I was doing my shopping I observed mice just meandering across the aisle from one side to the other. I went to the service desk and asked if a pest control was in place and told not at this time. I mentioned the mice and was told they were aware of them. Apparently they were doing some work under the shelves and had stirred them up.
The more I thought about it the angrier I became. I have called the Health Dept.

Safeway racist comment

I usually go to the Safeway on east Castro Vally Blv, and had no problem, but on July 3rd, 2019 at around 11:50 as I was standing in line I saw an Asian senior trying to pay for some corn. The man seemed to not understand English, what was making the cashier irritated. She left and went to grab help from another lady. Everything seemed ok at this point but the problem is when the lady in charged of the self checkout, who goes by Alex, jumped in the situation and tells the man that he was short.40 cents, since the guy didn't understood she gave him the corn and with an offensive tone told him "and you know what, welcome to AMERICA".
The tone she used was unacceptable! I was so upset. I left my groceries and walk out the door.
Never going to that store again!

Safeway deli management

This complaint is about Lisa, the deli manager at store 1922 in Port Angeles, WA. She is absolutely horrific to work under. She's verbally abusive to her employees, rude to customers. She continuously tries to force employees to work over their scheduled time, doesn't allow them to go to lunch until after the 5 hour mark, causing them to get in trouble with management. She rarely cleans up after herself and expects everyone else to do it, but if they don't get everything done in the kitchen the employees get chewed out. She's a bully and will talk crap about other employees to whoever she's standing beside, even if the person she is talking about is working in the kitchen too and less than 2 feet away and can hear the whole conversation. She's causing all her employees to quit at once, leaving the deli short staffed and has the gall to act the victim. Yet she literally cannot see that she's the reason why everyone is leaving.

Heaven forbid you have an injury. Because she doesn't like it and wants you out of her kitchen. You seemingly cannot have a life outside work. She hates scheduling around school hours and routinely tells employees that nothing matters except work and shelter. Family and everything else means nothing. And expect her to demand that you cancel plans because if she calls you she wants you in no matter what. Even if you tell her cannot because you're at a doctor's appointment.

Store management has been told about her multiple times, yet NOTHING is ever done. Something has got to be done, or they're never going to have employees that last very long.

And that's just about the deli manager, not everything else that is wrong in that kitchen.

Safeway service

On June 22, 2019, at approximately 11:30 pm I went to the Safeway - Bernardo Store in Sunnyvale, California. This is the store close to where I live in Sunnyvale. I have been a loyal customer and spend a lot of money every week at this store. I usually pay with my Stanford Federal Credit Union Bank Card. I also have a checking account but have only used my checks at the store a few times. During the visit to the store on June 22, 2019, I was attempting to pay for my groceries when I realized I forgot my debit card at home so I wrote a check. The very rude checker asked for my license and then advised me in front of a line that Safeway could not take my check because I had not used my checks enough. It was embarrassing and I am using the same checking account when I pay with the debit card. I have never bounced a check and I was so embarrassed that I am do not want to shop at Safeway ever again. A man in line paid for my groceries because he felt so bad for me.

Safeway service

I went to Kaneohe Safeway on June 22, 2019 at 12:25am. At first I told my kids to go and get 2 sub sandwiches from the deli the lady that was working told my kids we have NO MORE! And I can't go in the back to make it for you.. she then said come back tomorrow.

I then came inside and asked the lady if she could make us 2 sub sandwiches. She then told me that she can't because she is short handed and she is just helping the deli out, she is a cashier, and if customers come she won't be able to help them.

WHAT I don't understand is that I am a customer myself! And she couldn't help me because if other customers came? That is such bad customer service! Unbelievable!

And on top of this all. I also came in last night for the sub sandwiches. And the deli was out of them! I drove down to Safeway twice just to get sandwiches. And left with nothing Such a waste of time and money.

Safeway Pharmacist

Dear Management and Everyone this Reaches,

I have used Safeway pharmacy for several years in both Salem and Stayton Oregon. I am a part-time caregiver for the State of Oregon and work full-time for the Department of Revenue. Currently I work with two patients, both who receive several medications weekly.

Due to patients complaining that their pain medications are being short, we have been told to count the pain medications before leaving the pharmacy and again when we give the prescription to the client. As a caregiver, I take responsability for the medication and its accuracy from the moment I pick it up at the pharmacy to the minute I hand it to the patient. There are federal and state laws protecting patients from having medications stolen.

Last month I counted every persons pain medications when they were brought home from various pharmacies for different clients. I was absolutely expecting the count to be correct. On three different medications, there were less pills in the bottle that the count on the bottle said. One prescription was missing 37 of 90 pills! This took place in multiple pharmacies. For that reason, we are responsable for counting the pills before leaving the pharmacy.

To bring the tray to the counter amd count the pills in the bottle literally takes less than one minute. I stand in line while pharamcists gossip with shoppers about other peoples live- and i wait patiently. So why am I sending this email?

The pharmacist working right this very minute just told me that if I want the pills counted everytime, that I need to go to a différent pharmacy. Why? Why is this extra ONE minute so hard for him? No other pharmaciies have this issue. I have had clients in Salem hospital, Lancaster family médical, Kaiser, Rite-aid, and multiple Safeway locations.

Why is this such a problem for this pharmacist? I ask for the tray to count them myself- I dont ask the employees to do anything. So why would I need to switch pharmacies because I cover my back when picking up and dropping off medications?

This is very concerning. How many people are too scared to ask and dont get their full prescription? I do not understand why it would matter to an innocent person doing their job.

This has happened in multiple occasions. I believe there are issues with some pharmacies or pharmacists. There is no reason that sick people do not deserve all of their medication. I am going to keep asking up the line and to the news if necessary. At the very least, this is horrible service. I demand something be done to resolve this issue. People with no advocates are getting treated worse and lose more.

Why is it not possible for the pills to be counted when being picked up? And why is such a horrible person with a very bad attitude representing your company?

Safeway rude unacceptable employee

I live in Chelan, Wa. A popular tourist destination, on Lake Chelan. I am a 64 year business owner with a very positive attitude. I shop at the local Safeway 6-7 times a week and have a good rapport with the store employees especially "Kelley" in customer service. So on Saturday late afternoon I drove my boat to the Safeway gas station an fill my boat with gas. The outboard motor requires mixing oil in the tank which I did. I made certain I wasn't preventing any customers from accessing the fuel station. It was a slow time of day. I also tossed out a few cans in the garbage. I had no need to go inside as I paid at the pump. Now with my back to the door, out steps the station attendant, Mark Fix. He says "Excuse my sir but you will need to move your van and boat to somewhere else" . I looked to make certain I wasn't preventing any customers to fuel their car. There was no one. So I told Mark Fix, " I'm not preventing anyone from accessing the fuel pump and soon will be done" He quickly replied in a very negative tone, "This is not a detail shop, you need to go now!" I was shocked to the point where I was speachless. I was not detailing my boat, so it was a very odd thing to hear him blurt out. He then goes into his work station. After going boating, it really bothered me that this guy would say such a negative thing to me. He knows I'm a local in our town of 5, 000. So after boating I decided to go back and get his first and last name. He knew I was going to file a complaint, so out of the blue he now says to me, "Don't threaten me" I made no threat of course. So it was bizarre to hear him make such a foolish statement. Knowing logic would not apply with him, I then just left.

Our Safeway has a shortage of people and are even offering people a $500. bonus to work this summer. So I'm not trying to get him fired. He just needs either re-training or placed in the warehouse away from customers until he can get his head together.

I know the manager, Bill but just from friendly hellos. As I mentioned it's a small town. Not sure he knows my name we just smile, have small talk and move on.

So that's what happened to me and it should never happen to anyone. Totally unprofessional and without merit.

Have a nice day.
