Ruth's Chris Steak House gnat at table

Being a fan for more than 10yrs and multiple dinners and family events throughout the year in multiple cities, Miami, West Palm and Chicago is the first time we experienced a bad situation.
My wife and I made reservations this time at the Northbrook, IL restaurant and as we sat at the table we noticed gnat flying around. In a very discreet manner we notified the waiter and his response was "you get $2 off for each you kill.
Considered this completely disrespectful and condescending answer..
Sorry Ruth time for change...!

Ruth Chris Leadership Team,
First, I would like to say that I absolutely love Ruth Chris Restaurants and will continue to eat there. However, we had the worst experience ever at the Ruth Chris is Reno, NV in the Silver Legacy Hotel.
My husband and our 3 little granddaughters traveled from Antioch, CA to Reno, NV for the Wingfest on July 3rd through July 6, 2019. We immediately noticed a Ruth Chris Restaurant on the 1st floor and decided we would go there on July 5th. (5:14pm)
After a long day of walking and fun, my 11 year old grand daughter and I walked into the restaurant. The 2 young ladies at the front desk were nice and we asked if we could order food to go back to the room. So they allowed us into the restaurant area where I ordered the "2-Petite Filet steaks with Shrimp". Sarah took our order. Then I ordered a drink called a "Beautiful". The person that took our order (Sarah) stated she had never heard of that drink so I had to call my husband in the hotel room and he advised me what the drink consisted of and Sarah told the bartender.
I proceeded to pay for my meal and used my card. After I signed the bill I asked Sarah if I could've charged this meal to my room and she said, yes but not this one, the next one.(?not sure what that meant). Sarah entered the order incorrectly, So, I ask the person at the hotel desk the question and she said, Of course, just have them cancel the transaction and charge it to your room. And that's where the trouble started.
After waiting for my meal I asked Sarah to cancel the transaction, she wrote down my name from my license, to charge it to my room. I asked why she needed my license wouldn't she need my credit card. She responded to make sure you are staying here. She had to get a manager to complete the process who was not happy to say the least, she came back and said you are not a guest at this hotel. I was shocked because I had already spent 2 nights (she said my name wasn't the same. The name on my ID was Coulter-Bush and the name on the room was Bush, which means Sarah did not write down the entire name from my ID. The manager (Amanda) mentioned that I should have had an idea what I wanted to do prior to payment I'm sorry. "I could not believe my ears".I asked them to cover the drink and I was advised to use a napkin because they had nothing to wrap it with as I observed wraps on other tables.
I get to my room and much to my surprise there was only 1-steak in the box and I was charged $73.62. (the price for 2-petit steaks). I had to walk back downstairs to the restaurant and it is now 5:53pm. I spoke with the 2 ladies again at the front desk who responded, "We are new here and lots of stuff is happening". I went to Sarah and she called the manager and here comes the same lady……who stated, I'm sorry again she said, it was apparent her apology wasn't real at all. I asked if I had done something to irritate her because at this point I was feeling like she was upset with me.
As I wait for another steak and the current steak is getting cold, she returns with a receipt with a refund of $14.62. I reminded her that I didn't want the money, I wanted the steak. She responded that's going to cost extra. I was not concerned with the cost, I just wanted my order correct and the food. She responded well that the steak you have is big enough for 2. Are you kidding me?
I returned to the room with 1-cold steak, a drink with paper towel residue and a feeling that Ruth Chris let me down. Grant it "I paid for the meal" and a side. By the time we sat down 1 hour had passed.
What I would've like to have seen was a true and sincere apology, perhaps someone to say, "We are sorry, let us redo your entire order so you can enjoy hot food, and maybe something for the wait. But instead we felt like we were a bother. Someone, should check on the new restaurant because one of the other patrons at the bar tried to console us because he was on his 2nd trip to resolve an issue as well. In my perception the disrespect from the manager had racial undertones. I am an Administrator with a large Health Plan provider and one of the classes I teach is Customer Service and Service Recovery none of which was exhibited here.
Please fix it because I love Ruth Chris.

Ruth's Chris Steak House service and food

My wife and I went for dinner in the garden city location, where we have eaten a dozens of times, I actually buy thousand of dollars of gift cards that I give to my employees and customers, well that is going to stop immeditely!
We ordered dinner, the calmari with the the tai sauce to start, well that came out completely wrong all we got was calamari plain we we told the server she said she knows and is having a new dish completely made for us because of the mistake,
So we waited, a server came by with a bowl of the sauce to dip, the server lied about making the new dish unacceptable and it tasted horrible! We told her to just take it away, when the server came with our calamari a second later the server was giving us our salad at the same time? Did ruth chris forget to train the staff? Who brings over a hot dish and then gives a salad the next minute we said take the salad back, when we are finished with our appertiser then bring us the salad!
So we gave the calamari back now only to wait 20 minutes now for our salad
Again unacceptableeeeeeeee
We ordered for the main meal the ny strip strip steak with the bone,
Meal came once again late, we had to wait, if the restaurant was busy I would understand the wait time, but there were plenty of empty tables?

Steak comes, I said to my wife it doesnt really taste right, we told the server she said would you like us to slice it, now we are thinking what is she talking about, I had 2 slices and said this steak is not really good, I order it all the time, she aplologized,
She said do you want desert, we said no thank you, check comes, and we notice that the steak was more expensive and it said it was a filet with a bone who the hell ordered that?
No wonder the steak didnt taste right, so we call the server only and she said that what we ordered, I said read what you wrote, and of course she made the mistake!
We said just subtract the difference so we can get out of this restaurant, she then tells us she needs to get the ok from a manager, that we sat there and again waited another 10 minutes for her to return.

After reading all these reveiws, you need to retrain your staff and management

This is completely unacceptable in every way, just the fact that the manager didnt come over and say something to us tells me I am never walking into your establishment in garden city again, for what we paid in dinners and gift cards truly is a mistake.

I need stress when we go to dinner?
I want my meal completely refunded, I was there sat july 13 with a 7 oclock reservation under mark

And to make things worse, my wife and I are sick today with diarehha!

Ruth's Chris Steak House being terminated for unfair reasons

I am writing this letter in regards to a issue at my job that I found to be very unfair. I was recently let go from Ruth Chris because of a "No call No show". I was told by my manager that I did not have to work Fathers Day months in advance because of a upcoming trip that I was taking. I even have proof of the schedule that shows that I was not on the schedule. I even called Fathers Day to make sure I didn't work. When I came back to work the following Wednesday, I was told that I had been considered a no call no show and was therefore terminated. However, my manager by the name of Ulyesses told me that I was okay from working Fathers Day, and I even have pictures of the schedule showing that I was off. We received a new General manger weeks ago and he has taken it upon himself to fire me after being with us for only weeks. It has never been a issue with me and my job until our this GM came and took over. I even tried to talk to him and explain things, but he simply cut me off constantly and told me he did not wish to hear my opinion. As soon as he came to our restaurant, I could tell that he did not like me. I could tell that he was trying to get me out of the restaurant for whatever reason I do not know. Even when I was told that I was a no call no show, I didn't understand why nobody called me to tell me that I was working or to ask where I was. Again, I called the restaurant the day of Fathers Day, and everyone acted normal. Nobody ever told me I was scheduled, but my new unfair GM used this as a reason to fire me. Hopefully I can receive some type of help after this unfair decision. I look forward to your response. Again, I have proof that I was never scheduled which I attached to this letter. If you look, you can see the name "Frantz Sabbot" and if you look under 6/16 (Fathers Day) you can see that I was not scheduled to work. Please I really ask that you help me. Ruth's Chris Steak House food poisoning

On May 7, 2019, I attended a meeting at Ruth Chris in Tarrytown New York for the Laser Group. I ate a salad, a steak and a chocolate mousse. At 5 am the following morning, I woke sweating and vomiting. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and spent about 5 hours in the emergency room. I was unable to go back to work that day or the following day and I have had severe stomach issues since the the occurance. I left a message with the manager but never received a call back. I have enclosed my initial medical bill that I received and I can foward my loss wages. I thank you in advance for reviewing this I hope you understand that this was a very stressful situation.

Ruth's Chris Steak House service /being insulted

I set reservations on june 1st i arrived and was seated in the bar area. I was waiting 15 minutes when i stopped sean sevier manager. I expressed my concerns and displeasure to him. The response was so negative, my attire as well as my wife attire according to him deemed to be seated in the bar area. I felt insulted and chose to leave the restaurant. I was approached by the gm rachael kruse. We expressed our concerns to her. As we were speaking to her mr. Sevier joined the conversation and rudely insulted my wife and i again. Ms kruse encourage him to leave the conversation. We agreed to be seated in the main dining room and enjoy the service and meal that we are accustomed to. Need i say i have dined at ruth chris restaurants all over the country. I don't often take time out to write letters. In this case i am seriously thinking of posting negative reviews all over social media. I thought better of it a decided to deal with your company directly. However i do look forward in hearing back from your company.

Ruth's Chris Steak House unethical behavior! treated like garbage!

My friends and I visited Ruths Chris Steakhouse in Puerto Rico on our girls trip. We were out there celebrating 2 bachelors degrees and one career advancement!
In hopes of treating ourselves, we decided to go and have a nice, well deserved dinner. Sunday May 19th was the evening of our nightmare.
We all sat in a booth and immediately we were greeted by our waiter who had zero interest of being our waiter. The very first words out of his mouth were that the restaurant closes in an hour and how can he help us. We stated that we were aware and promised to not take much of his time. We ordered waters to begin with while we looked over the menu. He wasnt too happy with that as he huffed about it. He went and got our waters and we ordered salads and calamari to have before our actual steak dinners.. He again, huffed about it and pursued to tell us that we were running out of time and needed to order our steaks right now. We told him we would like to order cocktails as well. He brought us 2 cocktails at a 4 person table and said we needed to worry about ordering our steaks. I then told him I was ready to order mine and he looked around at everyone else wanting them to order now too. My friends said for him to go ahead and start with my order first and they would be ready afterwards. He sighed REALLY LOUDLY! and opened his tablet to take my order with the worst attitude I have ever witnessed!
I then stopped my order and demanded our checks asap! I told him I have never been treated this way and I refused to be treated like this on not only our vacation but at what was supposed to be a celebratory dinner!
He didnt care at all. In fact, he had our checks already printed in his little book ready to be given!
Iam beyond disappointed and he ruined our night!
I know our night cannot be restored but something needs to be done by Ruths Chris Steakhouse!

My friends were complaining the whole time about how he was acting and they were happy I asked for the check. You, troll, were not there so I definitely dont need your 2 cents. Ruth's Chris Steak House promotional card

My husband received a promotional card from Ruth's Chris after purchasing several gift cards for customers last year. He was excited to use it as it is one of his favorite places to go for dinner. When we went our for a special occasion recently, we were informed it has expired! Didn't think that was possible. He was very annoyed and said he wouldn't be back. Seems a little crazy that after spending over $400 for dinner, they wouldn't be more accommodating . I think it would be worth the effort to send him a new one as opposed to loosing a good customer. 5/5/2019 Mothers Day With Reservation | 9-10th visit.
Party of (2) My Mother & I, her first trip.
I always order the (2) Lobster Tails, price is usually $40 for 2, when it arrived it collectively was half the typical serving, so disappointed, they offered to add another one, I said ok, it was likely 1-2 oz. Still very different than what I have received the numerous times I have been to this RC. Also, they were not hot, melted butter was room temp. Really disappointed. Amber the waitress was very nice and professional. My Mom's steak was good and she was pleased. My bill was a total of $200. not a problem, but was it was it worth it, no, such a disappointment for me.
I would guess I got a total of 6 oz. of lobster between the 3 mini's I was served.

So I took my wife for Mothers Day to Ruth Chris in Asheville, NC 5/12/19. We ordered the filet and shrimp dinners as well as some cocktails. The waitress made it clear that everything was Ala carte (which was weird because the menu included a full dinner with dessert for 49.99 per person). Anyway, she also stated that so and so would be the server, (kind of a double team). Any way as the server brought us or food my wife noticed there was an extra baked potato with broccoli and cheese. We said we did not order that! Server said "oh Rachel must have given you a gift" Anyway, it was left on the table and we never ate it. Long story short, when we got the bill, it had multiple charges and each item was itemized (every item was priced on a long listed bill) and low and behold there was a charge for THREE potatoes at $7.00 each. So bottom line the server and waitress were working together to boost the cost of our bill by adding items. Also the drinks were added at $2.00 over menu price.

This was clearly a scam and we paid the bill and left NO TIP!...We also will not return to this Ruth Chris...we have eaten at many around the US over the years...never had anything like this happen. The Asheville RC is we feel scamming customers that don't check there bills!

Final episode...so I got a call (voicemail) from the Asheville "franchise" manager yesterday Mr. Kenneth...He stated "he got an disconcerted email across his desk" and was calling to talk to me. I called back later. Firstly he apologized and stated "it was just a mistake, we certainly don't want you to think it was a scam". He stated he realized how it looked and my perception of the situation. Then says "sometimes we do give extra entree's to customer" I asked "why then were we charged for something we did not eat or order" ? When asked about the overcharge of the cocktails, he stated "you must have been looking at the happy hour prices". The drink menu, was the drink menu...maybe we should have looked for fine print?

Bottom line, the call was just a fluffy denial that anything was done on purpose or deceptively to gain a larger bill/tip. Finally, if you visit "this" Ruth's Chris, be sure to check your complicated itemized charges carefully, don't rely on the way the meal is presented on the menu as one charge $45.99 for a 5oz. fillet and shrimp special with sides. That is not the way it is billed in reality. (btw, this deal was also removed from the local Asheville location on the website recently).
Sincerely disappointed!

Ruth's Chris Steak House very poor service for my anniversary dinner on 4/16/2019

I reported this incident one week ago to the Hospitality Group guest comments but no one responded to that posting. So, I will try again on this complaint board. My wife and I visited the Ruth's Chris restaurant for what I had hoped would be a special anniversary dinner on 4/16/2019. We arrived for our 6:45 pm reservation and were promptly seated. It then took over 10 minutes before our waiter "Max " greeted us. He then took our drink orders and it took another 10+ minutes for my wife to get her wine order. It appeared to me that Max was serving too many larger tables which seemed to get most of his attention. The appetizers came out fairly quickly but unfortunately we had to send one of the steaks back that was over cooked. I have visited this location many times with larger groups in your private room and the service was very good. I also visit your location in Virginia Beach where I get excellent service. At the dinners end it also took much too long to receive the check causing our dinner to run 2 hours.I reported this incident to the manager the next day and he sort of blew me off and said he would talk to Max. I frequent your restaurant because I expect a Ruth's Chris type of dining experience which I did not receive on my anniversary. We made reservations for my husbands birthday. The evening started out wonderful.

My husband and I both ordered steal
Kk, a TBone and a Cowboy Ribeye. When we were given our entree my T-Bone was so salty I could not take more than one bite.

My husband asked the waiter to help us because I would not be able to consume any of the steak (this was a very high priced steak) .. The waiter stated we run our steaks with salt, pepper and butter, the waiter was not at all concerned he was annoyed and my husband had to ask him twice to please return the steak. Along came another steak only this was almost raw, we ordered medium rare. My husband again asked for them to cook this further again the waiter was just annoyed with our requests. They cooked the steak to medium rare as we requested. The last and final rude remarks to us was - "next time when you come just remember that our steals are highly salted and buttered" .

Our evening was a "275.00 " dinner that was supposed to be special. I feel the waiter should have been apologetic and not upset or annoyed . This was our first time at the Restaurant and we will NOT be returning.

Ruth's Chris Steak House I was asked to remove my hat after I ordered my food...

Very embarrassing situation. I had just driven over 7 hours to visit with my family member for a few days. I always love to visit ruth chris in every city I visit if they have one. My cousin made reservations, as usual and we were all set. We had a party of 4. Myself, my cousin, her boyfriend and his mom. After waiting about 10 to 15 minutes for our table we were anxiously looking the menu over to decide. The waiter took our drink orders. As we were enjoying our drinks a gentlemen who worked their obviously, asked me to remove my hat. I happen to be going through stage 4 breast cancer and am undergoing chemo. I was so embarrassed, but instead of ruining everyone's evening I removed my hat. This should have been told to me while sitting in the waiting room waiting on my reserved table. I won't ever eat there again and am still embarrassed and hurt. I and my husband are in our 40s. We eat at this place all the time in columbus ohio, peurto rico, miami, cincinnati, you name it, and I was never asked to remove anything. I've even came straight from my chemo in leggins and a teeshirt. I sat at the bar alone and ate my steak... I just wanted to warn people about this location. Don't go there if you can help it. They don't know what good customer service is. They are too worried about my outfit.

To Whom It May Concern,

Owing to the very poor service that we received on the 8th of March 2019, at Ruth's Chris Steak House located on 1700 N Westshore Blvd, Tampa, FL 33607. Our reservation was confirmed for 10:45 pm. This is to bring to your notice that we are extremely disappointed, and wish to air our complaints. My fiance and I were displeased with the service and food for an intimate birthday dinner reservation for two.

When making the reservation weeks prior to that evening, I gave specific directions to bring the special delivered roses during dinner. The roses were meant to be a surprise and brought out during dessert. I also gave gratuity to all staff who contributed to the birthday surprise. When seated at the dining table, the roses were placed on top of the table.in which I found to be unsanitary and rude altogether.

The service was horrible. The waiter portrayed a large amount of incompetence and a bad attitude toward what we found to be an unexpected menu change. The waiter showed a lack of interest and empathy towards my fiance, who traveled across the country from California for her birthday. We both ordered the lobster mac and cheese. The macaroni was watery, runny, and cold. The lobster was also cold, and immediately made me feel sick. We also ordered two Mojitos which were both mixed with tequila instead of rum, Mojitos are rum based cocktails.

Once we complained about our food, the manager on duty never came to our table to apologize for the bad service and overall unpleasant experience. We spent more time traveling to Ruth's, then we did dining in. This experience was extremely distasteful and upsetting.

Ruth's Chris Steak House discrimination/service/treatment

On the evening of 1/31/2018, I am an African American lady and while visiting Mobile for business, I wanted to have dinner at Ruth Chris. I came straight from work; therefore, I was dressed very casual in jeans, t-shirt and boots (I work for Amazon). Upon entering the restaurant, there were 3 ladies at the hostess desk. I approached the desk and said hello (2 of the ladies said hello, but the 1 lady in the middle did not say anything). I asked if their was 1 seat available at the bar for dinner. The lady in the middle (Ms. Anne - the Manager) spoke up and said yes there is but "we do not do distressed jeans". I said excuse me? She repeated the same statement. She did not smile and her tone was very monotone and demeaning. I asked "are you saying I cannot eat here" and she said that is correct. She did not provide any explanation about a dress code policy and I felt so deflated that I did not ask her to explain any further. I smiled at all 3 ladies and said "thank you" and left the restaurant.

Since I really enjoy the food at Ruth Chris, I decided to call in a to-go order. So, I parked near the entrance, and as I waited for my order I noticed at least 2 groups of people (all Caucasians) entering and I could see that a few had on something similar to what I was wearing "distressed jeans". I assumed they would also be turned away, but they were not. I watched as they continued into the restaurant to be seated. This made me upset because others of a different race that were dressed the same way as me were allowed to enter the restaurant; whereas, I was turned away.

When I entered the restaurant to pick up my order, the Manager was no longer at the hostess desk, but only the 2 ladies. At that point, I asked for the Managers name and was given the name, Ms. Anne. I am employed with Amazon and the employees frequent Ruth Chris very often for dinner (various locations), and I have shared my experience with the company and Amazon now has a different outlook on your restaurant.

I would like a full refund as well as to know that your company does not support this type of behavior from your employees; including management. I would hope that Ruth Chris will provide some form of customer service training to ensure this does not happen to other people.

Ruth's Chris Steak House service and food

As the Chef Concierge of a major Resort in Palm Beach County, I sent my Regional Director, my Director of Revenue, my Regional Gift Shop Manager and my Sr. Sales Manager to the above location, Tuesday, February 5, 2019 to celebrate multiple birthdays. Their reservation was at 6:45pm and weren't out of there till after 11:00pm and not because they were having a good time.

The four blond ladies arrived and noted that the hostess was charming and led them to their table. All niceties were done from there. Their server was never around. All four ordered steaks and when they arrived, the entire steaks were on what could only be described as a large bread and butter dish. The plate edges weren't cleaned from the grease and there wasn't any place for the sides. When one of the ladies asked where they were supposed to put their sides, the server, already inattentive, gave them more bread dishes. He was constantly arguing with the ladies. This was ridiculous. These ladies are all Executives from our Resort and certainly understand more than anybody what "hospitality service" is all about.

Two of the ladies sent back their steaks after asking for medium rare to rare and receiving both times, medium to medium well. What a waste of steaks, on your part! It got to be stupid arguing with the server, so they asked for a Manager. She was uncaring, rude and offered a free dessert. They didn't come into Ruth Chris' to get a dessert, they, being hospitality professionals, just wanted good service and good food as you would expect from Ruth Chris'! She sent a dessert anyway. They were constantly being insulted.

When the bills came, the Manager gave three of the ladies half off and the spokesperson for the group, $20 off. They weren't looking for anything other than civility, hospitality and excellent service and food. Except for the hostess, they got none of that.

I'm embarrassed and don't understand why they were treated with such incredible lack of hospitality. They Manager could have fixed this situation by simply apologizing in the beginning and offer them an invitation to come back. Instead, they will never come back and unfortunately, never recommend this location to their numerous associates. Obviously, I won't feel comfortable sending my hundreds of guests for steaks at Ruth Chris' unless the above note is taken seriously. Also, belonging to the Concierge Association of Palm Beach, I will convey this story to all of my fellow concierge and see how they respond.

Ruth's Chris Steak House managers harassment on the job and retaliation as well as sexual harassment

2 of your managers Ed and Jake have complaints about on job harassment sexual and retaliation as well as another person in the restaurant located in Portland Oregon.
One of them put a girl on a closet and put her hand on her mouth and her legs up on his shoulder. Other manager ED, as far as I know it's not supposed to ask employees to right down what they think about them in front of them and pretty much bother her during work hours as putting a person down or telling them how less they are then others as well as his drug use and he keeps harassing her every day she's in . I don't want to make a lot of this public but if we have to we will. Managers really need to be replaced ASAP

Ruth's Chris Steak House 30 years plus of loyalty disrespectful manager

My family and I have been loyal customers to Ruth Chris (especially this location) for over 20 years. We eat at the location at least 1 a month & Every New Years' Eve we came to this restaurant to eat our last meal of the year, service was usually wonderful, but the behavior today was absolutely unacceptable. We came in from the pouring rain, completely soaked, for the security to tell us that we cannot dine since my wife was wearing "sport leggings". We of course asked to speak to the manager, since my wife has worn the same leggings to this restaurant many times before, but no issue was ever made. Then the manager Karen Gines comes to tell us that we can sit in the lounge area, but not the bar since my daughter is a minor, which is "accommodating" since we don't know how many people she has "kicked out of the restaurant today". She was very rude & hostile and last year my wife was wearing the same legging and there was no security guard and this manager Karen Gines was not there. We tried sitting at a table but she proceeded to ask us to move since the table we chose was for but the new table was right in front of the bar. We decided to leave after that, since the manager refused to seat us in the main dining room or at least at a table in the lounge that we liked. It is New Years' Eve, a time to be a bit more courteous to others, but instead we received the opposite. The manager was very rude and disrespectful. As a business owner I would never accept this from anyone especially from someone as a manager capacity. I do not recommend this chain of Ruth Chris, there is no respect for loyalty whatsoever. My daughter is 15 years old now and she does not to go through this embarrassment she has been been coming to ruth and chris for 15 years and at least once a month. I had to explain to her to forgive but do not let people push her around.

Ruth's Chris Steak House illegal wine sales

My brother in law was at Ruth's Chris in DTC in Colorado Sunday night. It was a holiday party and apparently there was an inflated minimum that needed to be reached during the holidays. Apparently they sent them home with over $2000 in unopened wine to compensate for not spending enough money. I work for the city of Greenwood Village and I know that this is illegal. It's okay to cork and package an open bottle of wine if you don't finish it. But selling unopened bottles of wine is a direct violation of a business's liquor license. I will be reporting this to the proper authorities. I discovered that Ruth's Chris is in Denver county not Greenwood Village, but they will be contacted.
