Roku the roku streaming device

I purchased a roku streaming device for my living room television around the middle of october 2017, because it is an older model television and because roku makes a device for them. After purchasing it, I realized thathte shows that I wanted to watch, I couldn't, unless I already a subscription to them through my cable company. If I would have know that from the beginning, I would not have purchased it.
Because, when you see the commercials on t.V., it does not state that t hat you need to have any kind of subscriptions to get the free streaming channels.

The channels that are being streamed free are only 3 - 5 minutes long or have been streaming for over a month of so. Bud their advertisements and commercials states that the "new shows" are being streamed for free every week, and that is an blatant out right lie.

Roku needs to stop showing false advertisement commercials and tell the consumers the truth.

I have reached out to roku so many times requesting answers to my questions and no one has every gotten back to me. And when you try calling the 800 number, sometimes it just ring or other times, a recording will come on and telling you to go their website for answers to your questions; which I have already done so; and there isn't anything there to answer my questions.

Roku roku ultra streaming device

I have a failed products, and called Roku customer service to get help. The rep kept me on the phone for 1.5 hours going through all sort of troubleshooting that did not solve the problem. Up to one point I told him I had enough and he needed to give a decision as it was getting to 11:30PM EST. He still wanted me to go through other troubleshooting steps that were just repeats of what I did earlier. I asked to speak to a supervisor who did even more troubleshooting without resolving the case. After another 15 minutes I asked for a resolution as it is a failed products. She did not even issue an RMA, but chose instead to escalate the issue further and told me that they would get back to me ... in how long, I was not sure.

It appears the reps did not believe I had a problem with my Roku, so they made me going through steps to catch if I was lying ... for over an hour. Great way to treat their customer! They forgot I bought the Roku device so I could watch TV. Keeping me that long on the phone while the Cotton Bowl was going on was such a torture. I told both reps. They acknowledged my pains, just as they were trained, but showed no understanding that I needed to wrap up the call...

Will be glad to replace all 4 Roku device with another brand. This time I will research for quality of customer care!

Roku a support technician

Early this evening, I had problems with my Roku remote when it was not pairing with the system. On explain what I was going through, he made me to type www.fastsupport.com. On accessing my computers system, he reset Roku and as soon as he exited my computer, I started experiencing viruses on my computer. When I called back, the other technician said they could fix the problem but have to pay $100.00 for life time virus protection. I refused. My wife and I then came to realize it was done to fraudulently extract a $100 from us. I then told the gentleman that we preferred paying that amount to other technician and not ROUKU technician.
It happen today, 9/8/2017 between the hours 7p and 8pm

Thanks,
Jayah

I bought a Roku 3 off Ebay, after have had one for my bedroom for a couple years. Went thru tech support at least a dozen times. It would not activate, so I allowed them to remotely take my computer over to activate, then out of the blue, they told me I had virus's on my computer (when that day I had none), they showed me a goole screen, not google to prove to me it was infected, then went into control panel and they did some stuff. I went on google just fine thereafter...? Then they wanted to charge me $149 to fix my computer, that hadn't any virus's on it before hand. Of course I am not giving them all that money and my computer ran a virus scan that morning. So then they sent me to fastsupport.com to use this other number that didn't work. YES, Roku is scamming and causing issues on people's computer so you can't activate your device without giving them $149. I am so pissed off!

Roku roku lt

My device is a little over 2 years old. When I contacted roku by phone, which by the way, was very difficult to search out, I got a recording stating that no customer service is available for devices purchased before 2015. Mine was purchased in Dec 2014. It stated online help is avialable only. That was an incorrect statement, there is no customer service online either. There are lists of problems that you may or may not be having but the problem I have: subscribing to a paid channel that will not load, is not one of the topics they address. So, no customer service. I spent 3 days trying to find an answer to my issue to no avail. It is not listed in their so called online customer support. I would not recommend this company to anyone. This is the worst customer service I have ever seen.

Roku directtv. now

If you purchase 2 months of of Directv.now they will send you a free Roku streaming box, but when you go to activate the box with the code on the screen, it doesn't work, so they tell you to go to roku/link and when you do, and put the code in it doesn't work. then a phone number is supplied for you to call and activate it...Don't call that number, they want to charge your CC from 179.00 to 79.00 to activate it... this is a scam, they have your CC info and charged you for activating the player... Go to the real Roku web site and seek customer service. I had to cancel my CC and I am now trying to get the charges took off my CC. Beware of Direct Tv.now

Roku unauthorized credit card charges

Placed an order on the Roku website on 7/7/2017. When order was submitted, I got a message that it could not be processed, "try again". Tried again to submit it. Got the same message. The charge is now appearing twice on my credit card. And there is no way to contact Roku Customer Support to resolve it. No email addresses. No phone numbers. Not even any assistance thru their FB page. So I'm out over $100.

Roku free trial cancellation / cannot get access to my roku account

I could not cancel the free trial subscription cause I could not access my roku acct.

When I asked to change my password - roku sent the link to my emaik account,... Obviously I am registered.

After submitting new password,... Could not log in and was messaged that the email or password were invalid.

This has gone on for days.

You cannot get a link to lodge a complaint with a human being.

The only thing that does work is my bank account in which roku has no problem communicating with.

Roku customer service

June 14, 2017: when my husband and I signed up for sling tv, they made us sign up through our roku account. The email address that my husband used to open his roku account had to be changed because it was no longer good. He contacted roku and did this. However, it did not update to sling. When I called them they said they only still had the old information. I told them at sling that we had updated the email on roku already. They said if we did, it should have updated in their system automatically. Well, guess that didn't happen. I spent 4 hours on the phone today talking to both of them and — yep, you guessed it — sling says it's roku's problem and roku says it's sling's problem. Ultimately tho, it's my problem, because I am stuck in the middle with no way to solve the problem! I think they both suck!

Roku rokuactivationcode.com

Rokuactivationcode website people are created with a website like information and they do activation services for roku. Roku itself has the support team who can assist their customer but these kind of website people charge you around 50 to 60 usd. These people asked customer credit card information and get the amount from their credit card. They should keep some payment gateway link where user should pay. Further, they will not hold further liability of the customer whom they get amount already. They will look for new customers only. Site dont have any complaint or existing customer's forum etc... To resolve the issues.

Don't believe these kind of websites. Instead go and approach roku.com directly for any issues.

The issue has been resolved by this company. They contacted me and clarified that they are a third party service provider who have been around for more than 30 years in the IT industry providing tech support in USA. I validated their claim through other source and found it is true. In US these kind of services are chargeable

Roku customer service lies

I own a first generation roku, which I have been happy with. My boyfriend and I recently moved away from our hometown in the dc metro area and he didn't want to miss his redskins games. So we purchased an nfl game pass subscription. But he hated having to watch the game on our desktop computer so when I read online that roku added an nfl channel that also allowed you to use your game pass subscription, I was excited. I couldn't find the nfl channel on our older roku and assumed I would have to upgrade to a newer player, but I called customer service to make sure that the player I wanted to order would support game pass. I was told that all the newer players would, and that because I owned a first generation player I qualified for a 20 percent discount for upgrading. So the next morning I went onto roku' s website to place my order and discovered that the discount did not apply automatically so I called customer service back to ask if there was a coupon code that I needed. I was told by the customer service representative that the discount was no longer available and that I was told that in error. I asked the representative and bis supervisor if they would honor what the first representative told me less than 12 hours earlier, and although they never denied that I was offered the discount, they refused to honor it. They either all need to get on the same page and train their representatives properly or honor their representative' s mistakes. I never asked for a discount... It was offered to me, but when a company tells you something, you should be able to count on it. I was originally going to purchase a less expensive player, but I told my boyfriend last night that because of the discount I would buy the best player so he could use it with the new hd 4k ultra tv he just purchased and watch his games on it. Now, because I am a person of my word, I am stuck paying more money than I intended because roku lies to their customers and feels no need to apologize about it. Amazon has much better service. I have owned three kindle fires and have had great customer service. I suggest going with fire tv over roku.

Roku roku

I was having trouble with a channel on roku's site. First I tried chatting, but the customer service rep, steve, took more than 2 minutes on every response. So I called. I was told to contact the channel directly. As usual, no help from roku. I was also told for any further phone calls, roku would charge me $9.99! Charging for customer service! Is this even legal? And the probably turned out to be not with the channel, but with roku. I was having trouble with my retro flix, with movies constantly reloading after 30 seconds of play. It turned out not to happen on my laptop, only with the roku. So it is their problem but they, as usual, passed the buck. So don't count on receiving any customer service from roku.

Roku stick device

We bought a roku "stick"for streaming tv and it doesn't work. We followed the instructions to the letter and the tv screen only shows a message that the device cannot connect to the internet. Our internet service works perfectly with everything but the brand new roku! Online customer complaint forums indicate that others have the same problem with their rokus. Roku's so-called customer service is in india and the reps do not understand simple english. My wife spent an hour and a half on the phone with indians telling her to remove the batteries from the remote and do other simple things that didn't work. They did not understand when she would respond that she had just done what they suggested. It was very clear that the reps did not understand much english. My wife ended up in tears. Plus the indians didn't understand that we wanted our money back for a defective product! Roku has the worst customer service we've ever experienced.

Roku unresponsive customer service

I bought a defective roku streaming device from roku, inc. And immediately contacted customer service. Initially there was a 58 minute wait and still no one answered the queue I was in. I called and got a customer service rep that barely spoke english but she promised to e-mail me the return authorization information. Nothing was sent so I called again. The second rep spoke less english than the first and again no information was sent. I wrote the ceo of roku to voice my complaints about his lousy customer service.

Same experience. Roku customer service is a scam. The guy who "helped" me was from India or Pakistan and tried to trick me into paying either $99 to fix it later or $149 to fix it now. However the fix it now or later choices never mentioned any payment when asked to make the choice. And yes, the Guy said his name was Edward but I'm sure it was Haji or Punjab.

Roku activation

Purchased device mostly for miracast as I already have a smart tv. Device connected, found network, checked network, performed updates provided me an activation code to create an account online. That's where the frustration started. Would never activate. Tech support is a scam that tries to sell you virus checkers and windows services that already exist in windows. One guy wanted me to give him the admin user name and pw to my cable modem gui. This thing is a scam, beware!

Roku did a irreversible interface update on their { my } equipment and now it doesn't play my family movies from my external hard drive - good job you idiots.. Roku don't support windows anymore - really? The #1 os in the world { I went 1 1/2 years with no problem } their foreign speaking tech was usless so my roku's and 6 other family/friends have our roku's for sale on e-bay. So now that they took the personal usage from their roku - it is just another video - netflix - streaming toy. Everything has netflix apps now days - these idiots ruined a good thing.

roku sucks balls I got it as a christmas present it is a little box that hooks to Your wifi but how secure is it? and the only way to get this product up and running is with a credit card and that was a pain in the ###. roku sucks balls they give You 1 free game (angry birds) but then You must pay for any other games . they also claim to give You free tv this is not true because all they offer is sites like youtube daily motion and hulu which you get anyway online so why go through roku to get there? all as it really does is go to paid stuff like netflix that you can already go to on your internet connection so it is a little ad on box to your intenet that You never needed in the first place even worse is when i went to news it was all scripted and cernsored according to what roku and thier subsidiarys want you to see. this is jap censorship at its best but not what you want. it is a crapbox to say the least. I looked at the manual and they do not want you to really know who owns it but I think it may well be sony corp.? and it is all about censorship getting you to pay for stupid stuff ect for example they wanted me to pay 1.99 or 18.99 for to watch home alone! what a joke! i seen old movies 20 times before for free why pay ruku? to me it is just a complete hack of the internet possibly by sony I hope another tsunami eats them.

Roku posting full credit

Bought a roku player. Returned it within a week. It took almost six weeks and three phone calls to get my refund which did not include mailing costs. So their $78 player cost me over $20.00 in postage. Their so called return policy does not state that buyer gets stuck with any and all postage costs. Their customer service gets you lots of servile apologies and little else. I believe I finally got my credit. Minus the postage costs, after losing my cool on my third phone call to them. I assume they just feared getting another call my a very irate american woman.
I am spreading the word to all my friends. Never buy this company's product.

Roku makes a fantastic product, and 2 years ago I purchased a dozen or so of their players for friends and family. Christmas 2010 I was going to purchase another 20 units as gifts, but the customer service department was impossible to work with. I spent the 2000$ on other gifts.

When my current Roku player breaks I will not be purchasing a new one and am already looking at alternatives.

Roku rip off

My wife purchased a roku player for me for christmas. She wasn't certain that i'd love it, so she took comfort in the adverstised claim that roku would take the unit back, postage paid, if for any reason we wanted to return it within 30 days. We'll I had no interest in the product and contacted roku by email that I would like return instructions. They promptly responded and said they would send me a rma and postage paid label. That was the easy part. After nearly a dozen emails and phone calls, and a dispute of the charge with my credit card company they finally, after five weeks emailed a rma and return label. Now when I email them requesting when I can expect to see the credit on my credit card, they only respond back with the standard canned response of someone will get back with me, which they never do with an acceptable resolution. I feel this company is unethical and I am so glad I didn't keep the roku and ever need support.
