Rhino Deck review: junk 9

I am having the same problems as the majority of the other complaints--discoloration, mold, warping. It is so dishearting to have a product that was very expensive to purchase for a well-planned deck and gazebo in our backyard to be in the poor condition that has resulted from the Rhino materials. Our deck was suppose to be guaranteed for 10 years and in 5 years, we have these problems with the quality of the decking. We have contacted Chandler Cement Co.; they brought out their representative who said the Rhino Company only wants to deal with the customer. We feel that the "monkey" has been put on our backs to solve this problem. We are going to contact the Rhino Co. and hope that they will honor their commitment to their product. We do not wish to sue the company as that is not our philosophy in dealing with such problems, unless we are pushed in that direction. We paid well to have this product installed and do not think we should have to pay twice to have satisfaction for a faulty product.

I installed the red Cedar rhino decking about six years ago and I've had no buckling or a board moving problems. My sister-in-law installed a gray trex deck and it doesn't seem to mold as much as my rhino decking does but it is a light gray color mine is a cedar color.

I didn't use trex decking because of the warping and my sister-in-law's does warp in areas mine has not warped at all but I had the contractor install the support underneath the rhino decking 6 inches instead of 12 which seems to have solved the warping problem

I like the rhino decking and I'm sure the trex decking is good also but when I build my back porch I will look at other composite companies before I build it.

We discovered our 6-year old Rhino deck was crumbling the same week as we listed our house for sale. If you step on the rotted steps you would fall through. UNSAFE -- A KILLER!

IT IS TURNING INTO SAWDUST!

DO NOT BUY THIS DECKING! I have over 200 sq ft installed and it is all going moldy. It does not wash off and looks terrible. The boards also shrink and expand quite substantially and leave large gaps in cold weather (and yes it was installed according to spec). I woud have rather had plain old wood at this point, or have installed Trex decking - apparently they warranty against mold and mildew - whereas Rhino does not - after they realized how poor their product is. Spend the extra on anothe rproduct, or go wood. Please do not use Rhino Deck

I had a similar experience as many others. I built a deck in the fall of 2005 with Rhino Decking. After a year an a half or so it started to spot. I contacted the manufacturer, sent some pictures and a copy of the original invoice from the lumber yard and with in a two weeks they replied back with an offer to send me enough new decking material to replace the spotted decking on my entire deck. This amounted to approximately 52 deck boards. I then countered back and asked for them to pay for half of the removal and installation costs and they agreed. Within two weeks of that I had a check in hand and new materials were delivered to my house.

I am a builder and I am also embarrassed to show our Rhino deck. We built in 2005 and every time we wash the deck it seems to get worse. Black mold like spots everywhere. My deck looks like a Dalmatian dog. We maintain this deck more than we ever did a real wood deck! We use Veka on new customer homes and they love it. I wish I could afford to change it to Veka.

Built my deck with this [censored] Rhino Deck material. Few months later, the posts cracked. Complained with manufacturer, and they send me new posts, and explained me the batch I have was off-spec. Who is going to fix this, and who is going to pay to get it fixed ? A year later, the plastic brackets, that keep the boards bolted to the foundation, also cracked after a deep winter. Some of the boards are loose now. In addition, the deck is getting faded (less than 3 years old!). I feel frustrated, because I spent 4X the price of a wood deck thinking I would not have maintenance issues for the next 10 years. Never crossed my mind I would have to rebuild the deck ever again. WHAT A DISGRACE

I'm having the same problem. When I contact the maufacturer they simply ask for aerial images. My deck is 20 ft off of the ground and I can't figure out how to get aerials without hiring a helicopter. My deck is a wreck and I'm very embarrassed by it. I'm considering tearing it down andputting up a treated wood deck; it will be better to clean yearly than to have this horrible looking deck!

I purchased the Rhino Deck railing system for my Deck 2 years ago and it is JUNK. It is sagging between posts very bad. I would NOT Reccomend RHINO Deck Railing to anyone.
