Swift Van Lines Complaints & Reviews

Swift Van Linesswift van lines llc aka revolution moving & storage llc fraudulent and unethical business

With regret I am writing you in regard to unethical and fraudulent business practices of a moving company in the Greater Maryland Area. I cannot begin to tell you how fiancé and me are distraught with our experience with Swift Van Lines LLC. We had a scheduled move out date set for August 27, 2016 from Fort Washington Maryland to Owings Mills Maryland. In early July I searched for moving companies on the internet. I received and reviewed many quotations. Swift Van Lines sent me their estimate on July 12th, 2016. Their pricing appeared to be very reasonable. 1 Truck, 3 Men at $79.00 per hour for 4.5 hours with 1-hour travel at $79.00. The total estimate equaled $434.50. We browsed their website (www.swiftmovingservices.com) and saw The Angie’s List Logo for the #1 moving company in the DMV metro area. We then saw the Better Business Bureau Accreditation Logo located at the bottom of their website and was confident Swift Van Lines would provide us with reliable, top-of-the-line service to support the values and ethics of the BBB Accreditation and Angie’s List. We called Swift Van Lines [protected]) to confirm the pricing for the entire estimated project. We spoke to a Mr. Rick Williams on July 12th and conveyed to him we are moving from Fort Washington Maryland on 8th floor and the building has two passenger elevators and one freight elevator as indicated on his estimate. We also indicated we have 50 boxes, the beds will be dissembled and continued to inform him of the rest of inventoried items in the apartment. We also conveyed to him of the destination location (Owings Mills) was a 3 story walk-up apartment building as indicated on his estimate. Mr. Williams told us he has done many moves similar to our request and it should not be a problem with the exception of possibly one or two hours more for unseen problems. We were pleased and secured his services for August 27, 2016 8:AM AM EST. with my requested credit card. Two weeks before moving day we were informed by the management company in Owings Mills we had to pick up the keys after 10:00 AM on the moving day. We call Mr. Williams and requested to move the pick-up time to the same day at 1:00 PM EST, Mr. Williams said it would not be a problem. We also had a carpenter and Comcast cable scheduled to arrive later that evening.

During the morning of the move day we were all set and we called Mr. Williams to confirm our scheduled time. He indicated everything is on schedule. We were very excited and waited for his team to arrive. At 1:00 PM. Swift Van Lines did not arrive nor did they call. We waited until 1:30 and called Mr. Williams, he told us the truck and the movers will arrive at 2:00 PM. We waited to 2:00 PM, No swift Van Lines and no telephone call. We called Mr. Williams again with no answer, we left a voicemail and requested a return the telephone call with an update. It was 2:30 and we did not hear from Mr. Williams or his team, we called the additional telephone numbers on his website [protected] (Left a message) & [protected] (No answer). We then text Mr. Williams to please inform us with an update. Mr. Williams called us back and at 3:00 PM and informed us his team will arrive at 4:00 PM. At this time, I had to drive to the management office in Owings Mills make sure I obtained my keys before the office closed. My fiancé stayed in Fort Washington to wait for the movers. Once again, at 4:00 PM we did not receive any form of communication from Swift Van Lines. During this time, we were very concerned about the move and other vendors scheduled to meet us in Owing Mills. Mr. Williams called us back and told us he was experiencing problems with the assigned truck and he will call us back. After 5:00 PM I returned from Owings Mills, Mr. Williams contacted and informed us his team will not be arriving due to the driver of the truck had to abandoned his duties for an emergency and he would not be able to move our belongings. Alas, with great disappointment and low spirits we informed Mr. Williams we had other scheduled appointments in Owings Mills later in the day. Mr. Williams gave an option to cancel the job or reschedule for the following day at 9:00 AM. He also said “I know it would be difficult to find another moving company on short notice and I will compensate you for the inconvenience and stress that I have caused”. With disappointment and frustration, we agreed to reschedule for Sunday 9:00 AM, the next day. We called tried to reschedule the Owings Mills vendors for the next day, with regret we were unsuccessful.

The next day Swift Van Lines did not arrive until 11:00 AM. We were greeted by Hector the Move Supervisor and initialed the start time on their work order. The first thing he told us “We must also charge you for plastic wrap and tape.” Throughout the moving process we noticed they were shouting in the hallway speaking in Spanish, my fiancé asked them to keep their voice down to respect the other occupants. We also noticed they stopped working for 15 minutes several times and stayed by the truck in freight parking. The head board was too big to fit in the freight elevator and need to be disassembled. They did not have any tools to achieve the task. My fiancé gave them tools… To move all the furniture out of the Fort Washington Apartment took 4.5 hours. We started to proceed to Owings Mills location, Hector called my fiancé because he could not find the address on Google. We turned around and met him in the parking lot and pulled up the address on his phone. Upon arriving to our new domicile in Owings Mills, with guilt Hector presented his work order and demanded $1, 300.00 for the entire project. We were shocked and outraged! Hector called Mr. Williams immediately, we asked “why are you demanding so much and neglecting to compensate us for inconveniencing us yesterday”. Also said “You are asking for double the labor cost to move us out the first location”. Mr. Williams said “I will pay you back the balance at the end of the job”. This man wanted every dollar he could get his hands on. That type of business logic did not make any sense. With no remorse or responsibility, he did not even acknowledge his agreement to compensate us. He replied “You can stay on the phone whining about something I will never give you, and I’m charging you for the time you debate with me on the phone… What are you going to do?” We told Mr. Williams we expect him to honor his agreement and show some professional courtesy. Mr. Williams told us we will seize our furniture, put it in storage and you will pay my fee and the storage fee. I have never seen anyone so greedy in my life, we felt as if we were being robbed at gun point! My fiancé turned to Hector and said “One day you are going to do this to the wrong people”. We told Mr. Williams we will call him right back. My fiancé walked in the Bedroom and called the police for assistance and direction to handle this situation. Unfortunately, there was nothing the police could do. At this point we felt powerless, with no confidence in Mr. Williams word to pay us the balance, we called him back at 6:30 PM and told him we will pay him until 9:00 PM, if they had to leave some of the boxes outside we will bring them up ourselves. After a 30 minutes on the phone Mr. Williams only took off one hour off the invoice. I went to the bank to get the cash and Hector wanted to ride so I can stop and get him and his workers some food. Not only did no work happen until they we returned, I was being charged for it. Mr. Williams told Hector to add $75.00 back to the invoice. So it was only a $4.00 credit. The total invoice came to $1, 099.00. Mr. Williams insisted upon cash as the preferred currency. Once again that appeared strange, we told him we would pay $150.00 credit card and $949.00 cash. He agreed… at the end of this dramatic ordeal we hand to bring in 75% of the boxes in our new home. $1, 099.00 is a far cry from the initial estimate of $434.50. For a company that offers this as a professional service they were very misleading, unprofessional and literally robbed us in our own home. After unpacking some items were broken and we discovered they did not return our tools and some screws for the headboard & dining room table. Besides monetary losses due to damages, some of these items had sentimental value and are irreplaceable.

It is very clear Swift Van Lines has done this before and they truly believe they are more intelligent than their customers, the BBB, Municipal, State, Federal Agencies and other organizations based on their track record and business activities. They are using their business to strong arm hard working people. Let me be clear! I am not seeking recompense / payment for his promises, offenses or business activities against me or my home. I believe this type of business should be shut down or at the least let consumers and corresponding agencies know within the U.S. of their unsavory ethics and business practices

    Swift Van Linesawful everything

I hired Swift Van Lines (aka Progressive Van Lines aka AY Transport) to move me on May 31, 2008. They were 45 minutes late. Then they started re-taping my already taped boxes (at a cost of $1.50 per roll of tape used). I did not authorize this and told them I wouldn't pay for it. It took 2 1/2 hours to get everything on the truck. I walked through my old flat to confirm everything had been put into the truck. I had also given explicit instructions to them as I have many expensive and fragile items.

They arrived 45 minutes after we did. Instead of loading the elevator and then unloading it into my apartment, one guy unloaded stuff and left it (unattended) at the elevator for the other guy to load. He then unloaded it and left it unattended on my floor. It took them 4 1/2 hours to unload my property.

Instead of moving me these guys went shopping. I am missing 32 pairs of designer shoes ($285 to $985 per pair), broke 24 of my crystal goblets, my Christmas dishes and tree, ornaments, two garment boxes of designer clothes, 2 end tables, broke several antiques, lost my Cuisinart blades, my lingerie disappeared, the list goes on.

I immediately contacted them and complained. They sent me a claim form. I submitted everything in early July 2008. A month later they sent me a letter saying they needed more information and photo's. I sent that in and heard nothing. In mid-August I contacted them and they told me they hadn't received it. I informed them that they had as I faxed everything to them 3 times and have the confirmation pages to prove it. The person I spoke with, Emily, then told me they had received it and it would take 6 to 8 weeks.

Well, I have been calling them for the last two and a half months and they have ignored me. I sent e-mails to them via their website (which is no longer active). I called and left multiple voicemails (that number no longer works).

From what I have read, this company should be prevented from ever doing business ever again. I luckily found information on the net about their insurance policy and carrier. I finally submitted a claim today.

What is even more disturbing is I was moving to escape an abusive husband. I had family with me and we repeatedly stressed that these were all the things I had left (my husband scammed me... there is a report on him. Search Avalar Real Estate / Mike Gordon). These dirtbags stole and broke the only things I had left. This company is immoral and corrupt. I believe they are shutting down again and will reopen as another company. DO NOT USE THEM! THEY ARE CROOKS!
