I purchased my home in September 2006 from Juliet Homes. Had I known what kind of a company they were I would have never bought a Juliet Home. For starters I was pressured in to closing on my home before it was complete. As a result there are still items in my home that are not finished. Although they have made an attempt to repair some of the items; 75% of what they have tried to repair has either made the original issue worse or incomplete. Also, Juliet is in financial trouble and has stopped paying their contractors, as a result I have received liens on my home totaling over $10,000. I have lived in the community for over eight months that the gate for the community is still not complete. When I contact anyone from Juliet regarding the issues on my home they do not answer or return my calls. Another problem I have been faced with while living in my home was an open electrical permit. Lastly, due to Juliet’s incompetence my community has not gotten to fully utilize services of the warranty company or homeowners association. Also, there are at least six other homes in my community that have similar issues. Had I known what I was going to incur all of the problems with my home as a result of Juliet’s incompetence I would have NEVER purchased a home from Juliet Homes.
I warn anyone willing to buy a home from Juliet Homes. Many of the homes that are currently under construction have been sitting idle for over six months and have been exposed to every element of the weather, and with Juliet’s history I would not trust them to do the proper remediation of these home before they finish construction, if in fact they ever plan to finish construction.
Juliet Homes, Houston based homebuilder, sold me a newly constructed condo unit, which was built shoddy, contained mold, and forced me to move out. I am now homeles. Within the first month, I experienced leaks, discovered cracks, appliances were either not installed yet or did not work (bathtub only had cold water). Within the third month, and after numerous complaints without responses from their management and sales staff (Bernie Kane, Doug Brown, Jorge Casimiro), heard nothing back as they did nothing to acknowledge my complaints. A strong musty, mildew smell became apparent and my unit tested positive for 4 different molds, 2 which were toxic to humans and as a result I moved out. Juliet Homes, who marketed Tremont Towers and sold me my unit, along with my mortgage (same owners as First Texas Residential) have refused to return any of my calls, certified letters or faxes. I was forced to vacate my home and have lost a substantial amount of money. ($233,905). The unit is unsellable, unlivable and Juliet should take full responsibility. Since I was forced into signing binding arbitration, I have no legal recourse. Instead of fixing my problem, they have ignored me as they continue to build shoddy, cheap construction elsewhere, which most likely are over appraised. I would not be surprised if the loans Juliet Homes and its entities they are overseeing contain some type of mortgage fraud in the paperwork, Buyer beware of this company!!!
Juliet Homes is trying to settle with TRCC before their ruling is mae. Feb 7th TRCC's Board of Directors will decide to accept Juliet's "Agreed Order" - basically paying the State of Texas $3,500. to keep quiet on their two year investigation. Unhappy Juliet homeowners will be at this public meeting to protest and testify on their horror stories with this builder. It begins at 1:00PM in Austin, Texas.
