Reino's Pizza & Pasta restaurant

The wife and I have been going to Reinos since high school, some forty-five years. We remember the original owner Frankie. On any given Friday or Saturday night we would go to Reinos and get their meatball or Italian sub. The subs were large, affordable and very good back then. Frankie would be out mingling and joking. It was a good time. We still have fond memories. Things have changed!

We ordered two subs for delivery with double cheese. Our bill was $18! Reinos bakes their subs open faced. The top and bottom faces of the buns were completely burnt black. They were burnt stiff. We now regret not having taken pictures for you. We were troubled. What kind of restaurant would actually send these subs out to be delivery?

The next day we were up early and accomplished a lot. We still had wood to cut and wanted to get that done. We were hungry and decided Reinos buffet wouldn't slow us down. We were wrong. We arrived at 11:05 and passed the side walk sign they put out daily (buffet at 11:00 for $7.50). There was nothing out for the buffet. We asked a waitress and the owner what time the buffet started. They wouldn't answer. Then the owner disappeared into the kitchen (we weren't given a chance to ask him about the 2 subs). Most items on the buffet weren't put out until 11:20.

The owner & staff knew we were upset. A simple apology, acknowledgement that they were having difficulty and were sorry for any inconvenience, would have been more than enough for us. We received no apology.

That day our city held a Pumpkin Stroll. Reinos had a buffet for the strollers in their party room across the street from their restaurant. They were charging $17. They lowered the price to $10 only after very few strollers would pay their price. We were sitting in Reinos when strollers wondered in. They were promptly instructed the buffet for them was across the street. As they left, we wondered how many realized they were being herded across the street so Reinos could charge them $17 for a buffet that had fewer items than the buffet at their restaurant for $7.50.

You can eat at Reinos and enjoy it. And like most restaurant if you eat their frequently you will encounter problems. If you encounter problems at Reinos you may wish you had chosen another restaurant. We have talked to enough people now and understand our treatment was no exception. You find out the quality of a restaurant after things go wrong. Good ones apologize and make it right. Bad ones won't. Reinos would not. The 3 incidents above happened in less than 24 hours. Are they indicative of this owner and his restaurant? In our opinion he neither values nor appreciates his customers. The owner has now claimed this business and paid off Yelp. Call it what you want, but the result is, our review is now suppressed on Yelp and excluded from being a factor in their ratings!

Reino's Pizza & Pasta bad food and service

We have been going to Reino's since we were in high school, some forty-five years. We remember the original owner Frankie. On any given Friday or Saturday night we would go to Reino's and get their meatball or Italian sub. The subs were large, affordable and very good back then. Frankie would be out mingling and joking. It was a good time. We still have fond memories. Boy how things have changed!

We ordered Italian subs and had them delivered. The current price $7.25. We ordered two with double cheese. Our bill was $18.00! Reino's bake their subs open faced. The top and bottom faces of the buns were completely burnt and black. We regret not taking pictures you. We were amazed that these subs were allowed to leave the restaurant and actually be delivered. They weren't edible. We talked little and decided we could no longer trust Reino's for deliveries. Since we have known the owner for years, we decided we would still go to their buffet. Our decision changed the next day when we found out our loyalty to Reino's was not appreciated.

The next day, Saturday, we were up and on the move early. We accomplished a lot of tasks by 10:45 and still had two or three truckloads of wood to cut, load and stack. We wanted to get that done so we could sit down and relax the rest of the day. We were hungry and decided Reino's lunch buffet wouldn't slow us down. We could eat and get on our way quickly. We arrived at Reino's at 11:05 and saw the side walk sign they manually put out daily. The sign says daily buffet at 11:00 for $7.50. We were surprised when we walked in and saw there was nothing out for the buffet. Shortly after we arrived a waitress came in. We asked her if the buffet started at 11:00. She didn't answer, but informed us the food would be out in a few seconds. The food was just put in the oven. It took another 15 minutes. Most items on the buffet didn't get put out until 11:20. During our wait the owner walked in. We asked him what time the buffet started. He too didn't answer us other than to state they had to call and get the waitresses out of bed, then he disappeared into the kitchen for the remainder of our stay. We didn't even get a chance to ask him why two subs that weren't edible were allowed to leave his restaurant and be delivered. And we were still a little confused why the buffet wasn't ready. We're not sure who was responsible, but it was clear they didn't employ anyone, including the owner, with the skill to understand that someone needs to start heating up the food by a certain time if it is going to be ready by 11:00. Apparently they employ no one who can take on the very difficult chore of getting four of five pans in the oven on time!

The owner and staff knew we were upset. A simple apology at this time, acknowledgement that they were late and sorry, would have been more than enough for us. We received no apology. I guess we were expected to just sit there, remain quiet, wait and be thankful they got the buffet on by 11:20.

A word about the buffet. There aren't that many items on it. They start with a pepperoni/cheese pizza and a foldover. The Fettuccine Alfredo is always lacking enough sauce. The rest of the buffet is so so. They put out bread sticks, but cut them up into small bite size pieces. Chintzy? Day in and day out the buffet is pretty much the same. On Saturday evenings and Sundays they charge another $2.50 a head. They add or change a few items, but those buffets are pretty much the same too. We stop going to those buffets because they didn't warrant $10! Their buffet starts at 11:00, but there are very few days when it is ready on time. As stated above, we were expected to wait until 11:20. There are buffets in town much better than Reino's and they cost at least a dollar less, and they don't raise the price on Saturday evenings and Sundays. Those buffets have more items and start at the time advertised!

One more point. That Saturday our city held a Pumpkin Stroll to get local residents down town and showcase the businesses. Reino's participated and advertised they were having a buffet for the strollers in their party room located in the building across the street from their restaurant. You could purchase tickets a head of time for the great price of only $17! They advertised you should get your tickets early because they we're going fast! We're not sure why Reino's thought they could ask an outrages price, but on Saturday the day of the stroll, they quickly had to lowered their buffet price to $10.00, after very few strollers were willing to step up and pay. We were sitting in Reino's when pumpkin strollers wondered in looking for the buffet. They were promptly instructed the buffet for them was across the street in their party room. As they left, we wondered how many realized they were being herded across the street so Reino's could charge them $10 (originally $17) for a buffet that had fewer items than the buffet currently being served at their restaurant, for only $7.50!

You can only tell how good a business is after things go wrong. Good businesses will step up, apologize and try to make things right. Bad businesses won't. Reinos wouldn't. In our opinion, the owner neither values nor appreciates the great customers that he is so lucky to have.

We would like a refund for the subs and buffet we couldn't enjoy and an apology for that and the dis-respect we were shown.
