This company was chosen by the buyer to conduct the closing on a real estate transaction on December 15, 2011. The closing agent, Quarles & Brady, did not provide the closing documents until late in the afternoon on the day of the closing, but required us to have the papers signed immediately and then hand delivered by both lawyers to the closing agent at 8pm! This required our lawyers to work 4 hours overtime on that evening. The following day it was discovered that Quarles & Brady made a mistake on the HUd-1 and we had to resign the documents anyway! Costing us even more money in lawyer fees! Today, Dec 28, 2011, 13 days after the closing, and we have still not received our checks. I have been contacting our lawyers (and paying additional fees) for the past week who have been trying to contact Quarles and Brady to find out where the checks are. I owned a title company in Florida for many years and it is customary to dispurse on a real estate purchase within 24 hours. Here it is 2 weeks later and I finally get confirmation from Quarles & Brady that the checks were mailed out yesterday December 27, 2011. I then asked them for the tracking number for the overnight service that they used and was informed they sent $37, 000 worth of checks (2 checks) out in the regular mail! Again, with experience in the real estate business and owning a title company myself, , all of the checks, whether 2 or 20, were always sent out overnight. Overall this closing experience was poor and cost us thousands of dollars in undue legal fees, trying to comply with this companies demands, and then tracking down our money that we expected by the 18th or 19th of December at the latest. It is still unknown when our money will arrive if at all without a tracking number. It is a good thing we werent buying another home the day we were selling this one, as many people often do, as we would have been homeless for the past 2 weeks. Please do your research before chosing a title co. for your real estate transaction!
