Public Storage Customer service

1/23/2021
I currently have a storage in Denver, with Extra Storage Space. I'm moving to Lakewood. I tried to make a reservation on line with Public Storage for a 10x20 space, but my credit card got declined. So I filled my car with totes and went over to Public Storage 10201 W Hampden Ave Lakewood, CO 80227. From the moment I walked in, nothing but negativity. "Can I pay?" I ask, they said "nope, it'll take too long," despite the fact I already filled all my information. All I need is to pay, I got the cash, they said nope come back tomorrow or Monday. "But I drove long to get here," "Nope and you got to make an appointment." "They said they told me in a text." I showed them the text said nothing about an appointment. They were unfriendly and bitter, maybe because I am non-white. I done business with Public Storage for 20 + years., I will go back tomorrow, only because I saw an Extra Storage Space building just around the corner from them.
[protected]

Desired outcome: What can you do? I already lost my time and my gas going there, i don't want to face those unfrienly people again?

Public Storage Over charging and poor customer service

I have had 3 units at the facility in Newburgh IN. When I started using them it was locally owned. As soon as PS took over thy changed the way they bill, they overcharged me because I had been pro rated and then one day they decide to bill first of each month and no prorating. Tried to move out on the 1st and they refused to refund my money. I told them I moved out and was not paying another full month and they threatened to block my access to my other 2 units. In addition to that they continued to bill me for 3 more months because they said I didn't give them notice. This happened with 2 of my 3 units.
A manager did credit a late fee and try to call me. I tried to call back but lost the number. When I asked the local person working there she would only give me an 800#.
This was 24/7 access when I moved in and they cut the hours 6am-9pm. That doesn't work for me because I work from 8 to 7 so in the dark it's hard to see so it takes longer.
I got my unit online and given a very budget friendly monthly rent, but the girl in the office was mad because I complained so she raised my rate higher than what the normal rate would have been. She also began monitoring me and sent me a nasty letter saying they caught me staying at my unit past 9pm.
I will be moving out of this disgusting place as soon as the weather warms up. They are nothing more than thugs and the on site Mgr is one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. I want my money back from charging me a total of 5 extra months. I did not plan on paying but they cut my lock off the 1 unit I still have and said they would auction it off if I didn't pay. Again, they were making me pay for my previous units that I had moved out of months ago. I had no choice so I had to pay.
If you don't pay your bill by 1st of month you get a $20 fee. Not even enough decency to give you a grace period.

Desired outcome: Refund

Public Storage Damaged storage door

I have complaint about my door for over a month and no one has fixed my storage unit. I pay $174.00 a month I even tried to contact the District manager no answer and no call back. My unit is also open on the side like someone was trying to get inside you can actually see inside my unit. I should receive a free month for my inconvenience. Public Storage I can't believe the ridiculous customer service I got from this public storage

When I walked in public storage no greeting from the reprsenative at all. This person has no business working with the public at all. I had to say i'm paying for strorage today. The representative said I was at the incorrect location. I said this is 8989 westhimer correct then she said yes. I said I have reservation. I advised the property manager she didn't care. I gave her my money and she was unable to give me my chnage back because she said property manager was at bank. This is what public starage is about unprofessionalism wow. I had to send my husband to get my change. The manager didnt take anything off my bill. She said she was at the bank like I owed her something. Then I went back to public storage the same rep was there she had to show me how to put key lock on she rolled her eyes. She went to take the lock off and didnt show me anything. I need the corporate manager to call me asap concerning this riduculous behavior

Public Storage Wrongful auction of my personal belongings

I've tried for a couple of years to get ahold of you but never heard back from you or anyone else's that I've sent emails to since my entire life was sold on May 20, 2017 after only storing there for under 3 months. I never once received any mail from anyone that my life would be sold at auction on May 20, 2017. I have over 87 pieces of Documents proving that my belonging were sold illegally and against your Auction policy and criteria

I have receipts showing one returned payment but one payment for $263.40 was successful on May 17, 2017 so I'm not sure why my belongings were
Sold and the manager there was more raciest then Donald Trump is to anyone that is not white. when I tried to Tell her that I never got any mail because you guys had my address wrong in your System which didn't have my apartment number she kept saying "it don't matter your things were sold and we don't deal with deadbeats".

Little did she know I'm a very we'll educated professional and worked for law firms and still do and previously in law enforcement. I have many emails trying to connect with someone including you and other corporate and DM's but always got emails saying "out of office". If I make it out of the hospital alive I'm planning on pursuing this legally because I have receipts showing paid except one payment which came back but Then the entire amount was taken on April 17, 2017 and legally my belongings should have never been sold because the property I stored at had my address wrong.

PS cannot sell anyone's belongings without making sure that everything is 100% including the exact spelling of the first and last name, the address is exactly as it is on the ID which mine had my full address including my apartment number but you guys never included or listed any apartment numbers and that's why my Stuff Was sold. they have to advertise it with a few items listed in the newspaper, send certified letters and regular letters to all previous known or listed Addresses

I never once received a Single letter. I started renting on exactly 02/17/2017 and was sold on 05/20/2017 which if I'm correct is not what the policy is to sell someone plus no calls were ever made to me I've had the receipts and phone records for almost 3 years now trying to show you guys but never heard back from anyone at all. I hope that you calling me today is To discuss a Solution so that i do not have to Pursue this matter legally. Please go back and look at my entire file and make sure that every piece of document is there that corresponds with you Auction/advertisement/certified letters/ attempts to contact me by mail, email and phone and most important the spelling of my entire name and full address including apartment number. I hope to hear back from you soon because what I've lost in that unit was literally my ENTIRE Life.

Ever since you guys sold my stuff Ive had to deal with my identity being stolen, credit cards opened in my name, etc. that's because I had a safe in my unit that contains my birth certificate, social security number, citizenship documents, passport, and many other identity related documents and the Identiry theft for the past two years have been from the San Diego and El Cajon area. I've filed and have police reports available, FTC claims, and BBB documents.

I haven't lived in the San Diego area since July 2017 but since my identity was stolen the only way that could have happened is by public storage selling my belongings along with my personal and private items. I know that your managers are suppose to inform whoever buys the unit that they MUST leave behind any Photo albums, personal and legal documents etc.and contact the person The unit belonged to so they can come get those items but that never happened. I spoke with Bryan ONCE and he was suppose to get ahold of the person who bought My unit and get my personal items from them and get back to me but never heard back from him either.

I even have that phone recording because at that time I informed him that our conversation would be recorded so, that's another piece of evidence I'll have even if it is not permissible in court the attorneys will have it if I hire them. Sorry about the long email but we need to come to a conclusion very soon or you can just reply and tell me to go to hell and that you are not going to do anything about it so that I can legally. Attached, you'll find the last successful payment that was processed on my storage unit in an email that I received from your payment center. I also have my bank statement which shows that exact amount posting to my bank account and no returned payments.

Public Storage Unit rental

I missed one payment due to the pandemic/ Coronavirus. Public Storage sent us an email and letter threatening to auction off our unit. I paid the bill in full but I am disgusted by the lack of concern they have shown for those of us who lost income. They truly don't care. I will never recommend Public Storage to anyone. They cannot be trusted.

Public Storage roanoke. virginia

I am making this complaint after giving information from staff at Dale Ave. S.E., (Kim & Mary), when visiting and wanted to know information concerning pricing, and storage units, etc. The 2 ladies I talked to Kim and Mary, were very and knowledgeable for what I was looking for . While there I was shown units of the size I would need. I was told of another Public Storage on Franklin Rd., I went there on another day. I was there before the storage opened, less than 30 minutes waiting and the woman came. I waited until the storage was opened and then went in. I said "good morning", and she mumbled something, I guess speaking back, not in a friendly way. I told her why I was there and mentioning that the storage on Dale Ave S.E. gave me this location to check out . Personally, that was my first time meeting with this woman and she was unprofessional, a sour look on her face. She talk fast pointing out the units I was interested in to see if the unit would hold my items. I went there in a friendly way and thought I would meet a representative who would be friendly too but instead I met with someone who did not want to represent Public Storage in a professional way and I was angry at her poor representation, angry enough not to go out the same door I came in just not to see that unpleasant look. I live near the Public Storage on Dale Ave S.E., so I stopped by there to let Kim know what I had experienced and instead of seeing Mary or Kim, I talked with Laron I hope his name is spelled right. I was still upet alittle but after talking to Laron who was very professional, friendly. I just could not believe how this woman acted and so early morning to be acting the way she did. I did get the phone number of Ryan Graff and called him and left a message saying who I was and my phone number and a short message as why I was calling. Well I never received a call, that told me something and because the sting was still with me, I talked to Mary and she gave me the number for Cassandra Craft, I called, left a message with a phone number and again no call back. Days later just recently I went to the storage where I use to an old storage I rented long years ago and as I was going up the hill I noticed "Public Storage" and I knew I wanted nothing to do with "Public Storage" and if I should have someone to say they are looking for a storage company I will let them know what I experience at Public Storage and there is no need to contact them because they will not return calls and the person you speak to at the location on Franklin Road in Roanoke has a nasty attitude. I will not spend my money somewhere that think they are the only company with this product. So sad. But I am happy that I met 3 professional, friendly and knowledgeable staff persons and that is Kim, Mary and Laron.
Thank you for reading, I hope you provide customer service skills for those who might need it

Public Storage public storage

My belongings were sold on October 23, 2019. I was notified by Email on the 24 of October. I spoke to a staff member at the 63rd street office, who then notifed me that I had until October 31 to pay my balance, otherwise my belongings would be sold. I was charged 2 Lien late fees, totaling nearly to $200, along with late fees of $20 each for whatever months I did not pay on time. The supervisor of that location, Paul, was immensely unprofessional from the beginning of our conversation to the end. I expected better service, as I was attempting to recover my personal documents that was included in the auction. He told me I should have paid my rent so none of this would have happened. He also dissmissed me in a careless manner, saying "oh well" when I told him my information was sold. He said my belongings were sold legally and that he did his job, so I can "get whatever lawyer I choose." He took nearly 3 weeks to return my 6 calls from the time we spoke back on October 24. He argued with me for about 5 minutes, saying it is not his job to locate belongings after they are sold and that the buyer did not leave anything and the office did not have any of my documents. After continuously arguing with him, I stated that it was okay, because I am not going to stop until I get the answers I needed about my belongs. He continued to argue with me. I told him he was being recorded, and that is when he hung up on me. My documents are Citizenship Papers, Life Insurance Policies, Social Security Benefit Documents, Retirement Documents and family members' Social Security numbers. I am solely asking for these items to be returned.

Public Storage insurance

I'm being charged first insurance through your company when I have private insurance, which I submitted proof of when I began renting years ago. Back in July I had to downsize for financial reasons, so I transferred to a smaller unit. When my transfer was processed the person at the desk did not annotate that that I already have insurance, so every since July I have been billed for public storage insurance. I would like to have this issue resolved (I.e. remove insurance from my bill and deduct insurance payments already made from next bill as well as anything else that can be done for inconveniencing a loyal and long time customer), so as it doesn't cause anymore financial strain upon me. My name is Catrina Jackson-Boone, my storage facility is located in Miami Gardens Florida and my phone number is [protected].

Public Storage staff

All the stuff there are very rude, they are quick to kick people out before they close but when it's time to open they take their time. They never answer the phone and I mean never. I called them so many time on different days and hours they don't answer. I moved everything out by the 31st of October and they still billed me $167 and didn't even tell me for what. I know that when I moved out I got everything out and left that storage empty and clean. All the stuff there are rude. I know there is rules and policies but they only enforce them when it's convenient to them. For example I get there 30 minutes before closing and they rush you to leave before it's even close to closing time. It's not just that they're really rude the way they talk to customers. Even the day I moved things in they are very rude and unwelcoming.

Public Storage overbilling practices and premature setting of auctions

On May 16, 2019, I went online to my Public Storage account at the Orange Park, FL location to pay my monthly fee for May 2019. Attached is a copy of my account showing that a balance of $303.42 was due immediately and that an auction date of June 25, 2019 had been scheduled on my unit. I telephoned the storage unit and spoke with an individual that gave me the following explanation: "On May 31, 2019, June's fees would be assessed and an auction would be scheduled on past due rentals." I asked this individual why on May 16 (today) June billing had already been assessed and was "due immediately" and why was there already an auction scheduled for June 25, 2019?" No answer was provided. I have included the necessary screenshots of my account showing this illegal billing practice of applying rents before they were due; threatening a customer of an auction; and already scheduling an auction for the next month before that billing cycle is due. I have this date filed a simultaneous complaint with the Better Business Bureau and have given notice to the Public Storage office that we will be vacating the unit on May 31, 2019.

Public Storage I cancelled my unit day of arrival and emptied, girl did not record on my record.

I went in on March 30, 2019, after slipping and falling on ice on the way into office because of no salt on side walk. i mentioned you need salt out there and by units which are always icy. She laughed and said yeah. I then proceeded to tell her i was clearing out unit and asked when she wanted to do walk through, She said "Just let me know when your out". I left this place because of the icy conditions, two slips and falls, mice in unit and poor customer service.

Now you send me a letter from Allied Interstate saying you will accept $64.50 on a unit your employee failed to follow through on her job and cancel. And next day going in again for walk through, the other girl, who is always rude, doesnt question anything, looks it up and says, "Oh you owe a month" WHAT?

This is the worst place and I would never use again You dont even have a trash bin unlocked for the use of customers And why is the gate open 24-7? Isnt that a little dangerous for your customers at night? i will be putting this on yelp, reporting your agency to BBB, good thing I have a good friend that works there, and am going to seek legal advice. Just wanted to give you another heads up. Hopefully someone will do their job this time and read it. I called your Management Office THREE TIMES, left messages and not one response. Your company is pitiful.

Public Storage storage fees and other charges that have no right charging

Yes, so the public storage in lakewood wa. Had said that I made a payment on april 30, 2019 which I did they said they charge my account. Then I was returned by my bank. Called my bank and said there was no check that went in money was in the account. Public storage said that they run it twice and was rejected by the bank. Bank said no check came in so all of the sudden public storage charge me twice for nsf. To top it off they said that I made 2 monthly payments and they both came back nsf. That is a lie I ask what account did they use and said they don't have record of it they said I gave them wrong info about the bank account number? Why would I do that hello does that make any sense? So know my monthly charge is $133.00 plus $180.00. And they added a $60.00 levy on my stuff so in order to get my stuff need to pay $350.00 for 1 month of charges outrageous! Again its every month they cut off my lock and I get this ridicules phone calls and charges. This people... They have nothing better to do but bring in excessive charges to hard working people …

Public Storage overcharging, excessive fees, ridiculous auction policy

This company charges 20% late fees and cares nothing for customer service or loyalty. I am paying double what I paid when I first started renting a space. No one, and I mean no one, has the ability to wave a late fee. It is a true example of a filthy practices. I just want to be done with them and let everyone else know never to rent from them again. Super shady!
