Planet Fitness $39.00 annual fee

Beware! Stay away from this company. After 12 months of $10.00 monthly debits, I cancelled with Planet Fitness. I found out that they debited my bank account a annual fee for the upcoming year. It seems that one year ago when I signed up online that in my contract i authorized a second annual fee one year later. It doesnt matter if you do not renew, if you didnt request to cancel the annual fee by 10/25, they bill another $39.00 annual fee on 11/1. You would think, that if you arent renewing for another year, they would reimburse the fee. Of course they would not reimburse this fee, and three attempts to speak to the location manager have resulted in crickets and no returned calls. Very unprofessional experience when a manager wont even call you back. I hae been told on the three calls I have made that his name is Robert As far as I am converned Robert doesnt exist. I plan on telling everyone I know to stay away from Planet Fitness.

Planet Fitness Wifi

Hello,
I have been a guest at your gym for over 6 years. Just recently the wifi has either stopped working or is unable to obtain address.
I have talked to alot of people at the gym and more than 50% cannot connect. That's a problem. There should be no reason for this. Android or iPhone users should both be able to connect easily. And everytime the staff is asked about it, the have no idea. I called my phone company to see if I was doing something wrong or it was my phone carrier's problem it wasn't connecting, and it's definitely not. I shouldn't be having to call my carrier about a problem you should be fixing. Alot of people are irritated and frustrated with this. And it looks like no one really even cares. The wifi service you go thru is unreliable. And it's very rarely heard of. There should be no reason I should have to do all these shortcuts on my phone to even find it when I can connect. I've been using my own data and I'm near the end with this situation. Theres no reason that McDonald's wifi is better than yours. The gym makes plenty of money that they should be able to provide wifi that's accessible.
From the beginning, I have done nothing but love on this gym and talk highly of it. But the wifi situation is ridiculous. People can't even get the necessities they need to even work out. I.g.. there own music! Or videos they follow for workout sessions.
Please fix this immediately or get a new wifi provider that actually provides in our area.

This isn’t the planet fitness complaint site. This is just an online forum for people to rant about their first world problems. Who cares if you can’t connect to WiFi. It’s a gym, not an Internet cafe lol.

Planet Fitness Employee and management issues

I was in the 30 minute area because I don't want to be near the "Muscle Heads". I sat in the chest press machine and the Muscle Head seated in the curl machine yelled at me- "Hey, I was getting ready to use that" I said, "Excuse me, that's not how the 30 minute area works" Muscle Head then called me an [censored]. Cross words ensued so I got the employee Noah involved to explain what the rules are. After Noah left the Muscle Head started up again, that's when I realized that Noah did NOT explain as he should have. Then when I talked to Noah a little later, he accused me of lying. I gave him a piece of my mind and he said "Why don't you go to another gym"- I left in shock. The next day I spoke with the Manager, Ms Lighty and she stuck up for her employee Noah (of course). She then sent me a blistering email to explain all my wrong doing. She was hell bent on protecting Noah so I quit Planet Fitness. Planet fitness advertises for people like me that are NOT muscle heads but it's not true. They sided with the member that broke rules of the 30 minute area AND broke the rule of NO cell phones in the workout areas.
I would recommend that you stay away from the Columbia PA branch, the employee and manager SUCK

Planet Fitness Membership

I was stunned when I went to the newly opened chatham pf. I wanted to sign right away and pay for one year the membership.
The answer was... No.
Is not possible to pay membership for a year. Wow
Only from checking account preauthorized. I have been going to gyms for decades and never encounter such a rule.
What kind of business is this? You do not want the hole amount.
What difference does it make for you as a business?
Unless there is something hidden in your activities.
Reading deeper about you... I would not recommend pf to anyone

Planet Fitness Poor managerial experience and service

I accidentally forgot my arm wrist and headsets on Thursday at the gym (24 October 2019) and upon my return, a very lovely gentleman who works as a cleaner confirmed that he had taken them to the reception. When I asked for them, they could only bring me my arm wrist, could not find my headsets. Everyone kept on accusing one another amongst themselves. The manager who was addressing this was very rude and unwelcoming. She seemed as if she was unbothered because of the comment she made when I advised her of my situation. She said "I was not even here when it happened so I wouldn't even have known" instead of atleast taking responsibility for her staff and just kept playing with her phone the entire time while she sent people to look for my headsets in a very comfortable position. No apology was made whatsoever. I'm still waiting for a response from the management regarding the issue. I am very disappointed by what I encountered and the way I was addressed, not only my time was wasted but my energy as well. I will be taking this further if nothing is done about it!

Planet Fitness 30 minute workout area

To whom it may concern-
I enjoy the 30 minute workout area because you can switch machines on a timer. I entered the area at approx 5:00 PM on Sat 10/26/19. I sat in the chest press machine and a guy across the room in the curl machine stated "Hey, I was getting Ready to use that Machine" so I replied "This is the 30 minute workout room, you do a machine and move on", he proceeded to call me an [censored] so I told him we needed a PF employee to get involved.
The only employee available was 16 year old Noah. He confronted the other man and was talking to him. I had hoped that he would explain the rules of the room but whatever he told him, it didn't work.
The guy was camped out at the curl machine for 20 minutes like it was a free weight area. I asked the guy if he understood how it works and again he called me an [censored] so a bit of a shouting match ensued.
I continued my workout in the 30 minute area and when he finally left the room, I was able to use the curl machine.
I spoke with Noah as I was getting ready to leave and told him I was filing a formal complaint. Noah told me he had talked to the guys in the back and that they (friends) told Noah a different story and Noah told me point blank that he didn't believe me and that if I didn't like it, I could go to another gym.
Not sure why a 16 year old is left alone to watch over the gym, he's too immature and ill equipped to deal with conflicts. I don't appreciate being called a Liar. There is a sign as you enter the 30 minute workout area that explains that the room is designed for 30 min workout ONLY and staff keeps an eye out.
Not only was I confronted by a hostile gym member but even after it was explained to him he STILL did not follow the rules because he stayed on the curl machine for an additional 10 minutes after it was supposedly explained.
Noah did not handle the situation well, he called me a liar and was ready to have me quit the gym. This is unacceptable and I will leave Planet Fitness if this can't be resolved- I joined because it's supposed to be a No Judgement zone and that Muscle Heads are not there. Your employees are supposed to make sure that everyone knows the rules, especially when a sign is posted.

Planet Fitness Planet fitness, bloomsburg, pa

I am a member of planet fitness, my home base is Shamokin Dam, pa. Over the last 1-2 years, I have been going to the Bloomsburg planet fitness due to the fact that it is right across the street from my employer. On Monday, Sept. 30, 2019, I was informed that I had used up my 10 visits for the month & had to pay $5.00. You do nothing but advertise about the benefits of having the black card and that you can go to any planet fitness, however, you do not advertise that there are visit limitations. My situation is that my employer is in Bloomsburg, while my residence is in Northumberland, pa which is closer to my home base in shamokin dam. I have also learned from other members that it is by "franchises"..that you can frequently use different planet fitness facilities. Is this also true? And that Bloomsburg pa is not a franchise with shamokin dam, pa?.Is there any way possible that a planet fitness rep could contact me or e-mail me explaining these rules? I just think this is bad business. Isn't it nice knowing that you have the dedicated members, members that do look for other facilities if they go out of town, go onvacations, etc. or just a hometown person like myself that works & resides between 2 of your facilities. I do enjoy working out, and have cholesterol problems which I do need to exercise. I would also like to add is when I do go to the Bloomsburg facility, they make you sign a tablet which other members have stated that they are the only facility in our area that makes you do this. I hope to hear from you within the next 10 days, if not, I will take my complaints further. Thank you for your time...Brenda Herman

Planet Fitness Discrimination

During my workout, a staff member approached me and asked me to cover up because someone was distracted by my workout outfit. I have never been so humiliated in my life, I couldn't even continue my workout and left the gym crying. I have failed to find any dress code on the website, so I'm offended and confused as to why the employee would tell me to change my clothes. I have been at going to this exact location for 3 years. My outfit wast not inappropriate and I've worn it before. I've been struggling to go to the gym due to being insecure and the staff meme bee made me feel even worse about myself. Although I gained some weight, it still fit me appropriately. This is an issue and I felt the need to file a complaint and bring this up to corporate. I feel completely discriminated against and it's not ok.

Planet Fitness Supposed outstanding fees

I just received a call from PF from some attorneys claiming that I owe PF over R4000 in fees.
Last year in December, PF decided to deduct almost R1500 plus R500 after me paying the agreed upon fee of R299.

I then called my bank and reversed the amounts which were not as per our PF agreement of almost R2000.

Suddenly In October 2019, I Owe PF Over R4000.

what nonsense is this?
what games are you trying to play by scamming money out of me?

Planet Fitness No news channels allowed to be aired at facility

I asked if the news could be put on one of the televisions, as I come to Planet Fitness to workout and watch the news. They told me they no longer allow any news to be aired because a fight occurred at another facility over the news. It is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. All adult members are punished because of an isolated incident at another facility? How does that make sense? I want this re-evaluated and ban lifted. Also, there are NO RECYCLING BINS ANYWHERE! PF uses so many paper products and plastic bottles, but NO RECYCLING! Shame on Planet Fitness!

Planet Fitness Membership fees

I previously belonged to Sanlam reality reward program however we cancelled the program in June however since July my premium has been increasing and it hasn't been a year yet. The response from a consultant is that Sanlam determines my monthly fee? My contract was signed with Just Gym for R199 for the first 2 months and R299 until the 12th month, thereafter an annual increase. However my debit order is currently R369, R349 last month but no valid explanation from Just gym after numerous emails? October is my annual increase month? I will be returning the debit order until such time I receive a valid and competent response.

Planet Fitness Gym attire

There is no use having a dress code when the staff doesn't enforce it. All these locations have women coming in there with nothing but a sports bra and booty shorts with either boobs, midriff, and or butt cheeks exposed. Men come in there with almost their entire chest showing and big jugs of water. The reason why Planet is losing so many people is because rules are not enforced. It's not just attire, it's being on your cell phones while you are sitting on a machine doing nothing for 45 minutes or so! So many rules are broken and staff really don't care to do anything about it.

Planet Fitness Staff member not resolving an ongoing issue with 30-minute circuit

This has been an ongoing issue with this particular Planet Fitness location. I decided to join Planet Fitness because of the pricing. I had originally been going to Curves for the 30 minute circuit, and Planet Fitness said they had the circuit. This has been an ongoing issue with the Planet Fitness location I'm referring to. From my understanding, the circuit is designed to move from one machine to the next utilizing the red light green light system. During my workouts, a lot of the times people would do multiples on the machines, not following the red light green light system. With Planet Fitness putting up the sign saying it is a 30 minute circuit, it helped maybe a little. However, when I was there on Thursday, September 5, 2019, I was doing the circuit and was getting ready to go to the next machine and told the person at the next machine it was my turn on the next machine, they wouldn't budge. I went to the front desk and asked the staff members to come to the circuit to tell the person they have to follow the circuit. The person at the machine wouldn't budge. The guy staff member that came said he would talk to the guy. This guy staff member was not helpful at all. Person on the machine wouldn't budge. The guy staff member I was talking about hasn't helped me out in previous situations. I asked several times for his name, but it wasn't given to me. I wish to complain about him. He was one of three staff members that afternoon, Thursday, September 5, 2019. He's a young Hispanic man with short brown hair. He's kind of short and sometimes will wear his hair in a ponytail, Staff that was there in addition to him was one black male and one Asian woman. Maybe if Planet Fitness had something that would say "Change Stations Now;" like curves does I don't think this problem would exist. There was another situation when it was my turn to use the next machine, the woman cursed me out and said she would meet me outside. I had a staff member walk me out that day. This tends to be an ongoing problem and is very frustrating. Lots of people in our society are running on short fuses and may go postal on someone telling them nicely it's their turn to use the machine. I don't think Planet Fitness would like the publicity of someone getting hurt or worse at their facility. Please do something about the circuit situation as the red light green light system doesn't seem to work. What's wrong with having the prompt say change stations now.

Planet Fitness Lawrence ks gets their feelings hurt while discussing a new membership and threat

This afternoon, while attempting to purchase an annual Black Card Membership at the Lawrence, KS Planet Fitness, I was treated with demeaning disrespectful language. Eric, the person whom I tried to work with while speaking about the membership, spoke to me as if I were a child and couldn't understand the particulars. Please keep in mind, I previously had a Black Card Membership and canceled it because of the behavior of the staff. After Eric and I discussed the membership, I told him to go ahead and get the paperwork. My intent was to sign the contract. Usually when a prospect says 'go ahead, get the paperwork, ' that is a buying signal and means they intend to complete the agreement. After I said this statement to Eric, he scooted his chair back, puffed out his chest, and claimed that "He didn't like the way I was talking to him!" He then began to argue that I could have meant, 'go ahead, get the paperwork and then not sign.' This is false logic at it's best and cost Planet Fitness a new membership. I clarified my intent, in which, he called for the manager, 'Stephanie.' Stephanie came over to the table and said that "I needed to leave, and that if I didn't, she would call the Police!' I then asked Stephanie for the Franchise owner's name and phone number, for which, she claimed she didn't have that information.

I believe the Lawrence, KS Planet Fitness Franchise owner should be aware of this incident and take appropriate action. Treating potential customers in this manner, and especially those customers who are giving Planet Fitness a second chance is 'not' the way to conduct business. Threatening to call Law Enforcement because 'Eric' felt that his feelings were hurt while conducting and negotiating a business contract will not gain Planet Fitness new customers.

Planet Fitness Overnight shift - security/safety issues/cleanliness

During overnight shift front desk is un attended most of the time. When attendant is present at desk, which is rare, she is slumped over in chair sleeping.
Permits anyone to walk in to gym without question.
Recently saw a group of 5 men enter gym, no one scanned a card. Girl was at front desk, looked over said nothing. Let's anyone walk in off the street. Numerous "un desirables" entering club resulting in lockers brocken into & robbed. An apparently homeless man is permitted to sleep in men's locker room overnight
There is frequently no employee on premises sometimes for more than 2 hours. Gym is located on 3rd floor of an urban shopping complex. 3 weeks ago while on my way to the gym I spotted front desk and cleaning attendant exiting 1st floor elevator & leaving complex together at approximatelly 2:30 AM. Went to gym & found no employees on premises. they did not return to the club for approximately 2 hours. Leaving the facility un-attended by any staff. This happens frequently during this shift.
Used hypodermic needles found in dressing room and bathroom of men's locker room. One was recently found in bathroom stall on top of the toilet paper dispenser. The source believed to be Arab speaking Mid-Eastern guy.
He was permitted use of gym without membership for many months. During this time several members were regularly finding used needles in men's locker room.
Appears to now have gotten a membership and returned.
When he re-appeared, the used needles re-appeared.
Believe he is shooting up steroids based on his behavior.
Very aggressive and confrontal. If someone goes to use a dumbbell or machine, he stops what he is doing, runs over to them saying "I'm using that". Get's in your face making a fist says "Don't [censored] with me motherfucker…I [censored] you up.
I run this place, I run this [censored]ing place"
He tosses garbage such as empty water bottles on floor,
Does not drop weights, he THROWS them on floor, dumbbell racks against wall. Silver wavy wall panels have damage from him throwing weights & dumbells against wall. One morning someone had left a spray bottle on bench, he picked up & threw against wall, cap popped off, fluid splattered. Cleaning attendant was in vicinity, saw this, laughed shook his head & walked away. Several members has spoken to front desk staff and told that nothing can be done because he is the manager's boyfriend.
Facility is filthy, Gym area is a mess, very hard to find dumbells
Soap dispensers only filled once every 3 months, usually left empty for 2 months at a time. Drains are clogged in showers.
People permitted permanent use of lockers. Some have been on for over one year. One person has had 3 large lockers for almost 2 years. 2 notices were posted (April & May re: locks clipped) Locks were never clipped.
On a recent Saturday morning upon opening counted more than 40 lockers w/overnight locks.
Have attempted speaking to management about all these issues. Have gone back during the day on weekdays & always told manager is not in. Every time we call, told manager is not available. When asked the manager's name, staff says they are not permitted to give out manager's name.
Several members have contacted Planet Fitness Corporate Office in NH but nothing has changed.
The conditions of this facility are disgraceful and Planet Fitness should be held accountable.

Planet Fitness contract

Let's start off with I understand that I am an adult that made the grown decision to sign a contract.

But...i paid $1.10 or something of that to sign up on May 7th. Another payment was taken out that was $30...then $25. The next month $24 in June..the next month $30...then $24.44 in the same month of July.! August..$30 and $25 again! I called to freeze my account in July and got an "okay". Called again and was like yall took money i thought yall froze my account?
"Uhm, well, you have to come into do that, it is in the contract". Okay, whatever, didn't know that. My bad. I go in freeze my account today(August26, 2019) and then check my account to see all that has happened. Realizing that I've been being charger 30$ extra plus the 24$. I understand that the annual fee is in there somewhere but no way am I suppose to have been charged almost 200$ in 3 months time. That's ridiculous.

Planet Fitness disrespectful trainer at kent valley planet fitness in seattle

I had come into planet fitness to work out and brought a guess with me. As I was working out, i had put my equipment down to take a little break. And the trainer at Kent valley planet fitness came towards me and said in a rude way " are you guys just hanging out!". I just looked and her. My guess was just sitting by me waiting for me to finish working out, he wasnt working out so he was wearing his Jeans and a regular t shirt. The women said again in a rude way " I'm just making sure that he is not working out because he is in his jeans, hes not suppose to touch any of the equipment because hes wearing jeans ". I know and understand the policy at planet fitness, but this women does not have the right to just assume that. I told her that he was just waiting for me. But she was still repeating the same thing. This women had made me very uncomfortable and very upset through her action towards us. I have been a member for almost 3 years and had no problem and was really happy to be a member there. But the lady and he action just made me very very uncomfortable.

Planet Fitness most pathetic treatment received from manager at planet fitness - raslouw

On the 11th August 2019 I went to the Raslouw Planet fitness gym were i have been gyming for about 1 year 6 months and have always taken my backpack with me on every trip I've made to the gym, as I was training I was approached by the manager who was extremely disrespectful and rude telling me that backpacks are not allowed in the gym as it's a safety hazard (which I fully understand and agree with). I then asked him if this is how to you speak to your customers and when did the rules change that for 1 year 6 months I have entered the gym and kept my backpack on the floor next to me and in no way it could harm anyone and was told that the rules changed and there was a notice at the door (which required a magnifying glass to view it).However the manner in which I was spoken to especially being a customer was pathetic, disrespectful and really uncalled for. He then proceeded to tell all the other Indian and black members in the gym the same thing and were spoken to in the same rude disrespectful manner however he did gain some respect when he approached the white members in the gym, which is being racist to your customers of colour and treat the customers that are white with respect? Because you are also white!

I called to log a complaint with there head office and at first my complaint wasnt going to logded as the supervisor in charge thought that is was perfect fine for there staff to be rude, disrespectful and racist towards members and after being persistent the complaint was lodged. I then recieved a call from the same manager at Raslouw Planet fitness who verbally abused me as apparently the call was escalated to him to attend to. He then advised me that he had added 2 misdemenas to my name and if there is 1 more issue I will not be able to come back to this gym. As if I did something wrong.

I have tried to cancel my membership with them as I will not pay for a membership where I am disrespected and treated differently to because I am indian! I was then told that I have to pay a cancelation fee of 2 months membership which I refused too. I am forced to cancel my membership and now I have to pay a cancelation fee because of a pathetic racist management?

This is total uncalled for and in no way any customer should be treated. I would like my membership to be canceled and i will give my business to Virgin Active as that has never happened to me in the 15 years that I've gymed with them.

Planet Fitness cleanliness

I'm disappointed in how the women's bathroom was kept yesterday. Here's a picture of the toilet. There's so many employees standing around the entrance and not enough to clean up the toilets.

This is the Planet Fitness on Eisenhower Drive...ladies beware of the uncleanliness!

Here's my reply to the "owner" below: An apology for my bad experience would've been nice. So "owner"...instead of commenting back to me because of my honest review...please reiterate to your staff how important it is to keep the establishment clean. I may have to send this to the PF headquarters...because No paying customer should have to experience the dirty toilet below.

Planet Fitness receptionist

I went to planet fitness newtown on Monday, 30 July 2019. I have a black tag so I went in first and my daughter followed later, she was refused entry by Gcobisa and said the rules did not allow that I needed to enter same time with my daughter. Understandably so I asked them what needed to be done, she responded rudely telling me nothing could be done. I then requested to speak to the manager. She called another rude, drunk lady by the name of Slu. She was drunk and she was wearing Andile's name tag. She didn't even know what she was saying to me because her statements were contradictory. Those two do not deserve to be in reception they are both rude and don't have customer etiquette. They called their manager by the name of Mlungisi and he gave an order of no entry without even hearing the side of my story and little did he know that his staff member was drunk. No management skills what so ever. All I needed to know was that since I did not wait for my daughter to join me, after how long could we come back and enter together.
