Philips 37 in lcd tv

I purchased a 37 inch Phillips Magnovox LCD TV less than 1 year ago. The powerboard went out on it whihc was covered under warranty. However it took almost 2 months for the powerboard to come in from Phillips Magnox as imagine this they were back ordered since they have it go out on so many of them. Then after it arrived, the repair company put in the PowerBoard only to tell me that the entire LCD panel is bad as well, but that they could not tell that until the power board was replaced. Now I need to wait another 2 months for the LCD panel to come in. I would not recommend that anyone purchase a Phillip Magnovox LCD TV - in addition to the physical problems with the TV, Phillips Magnavox Customer Service Center is absolutely horrible - They have no idea what customer service is.

Hi, I would just like to say never ever purchase a Phillips product ever again. I have model number 60PL900D/37 and serial number YA1A0641032538. We have had nothing but problems with the suppose lamp burning out, the picture being too dark, the blinking red light, taking a while to turn on and shut off. And as of today-i hear a loud "pop" and i can hear the tv program but I cannot see it! I paid alot of money for this large flat screen tv and I have had nothing but bad luck! I am trying to figure out how to get involved in the class action lawsuit.

Philips defective tv/dvd player

In June, 2007, while home on R & R Leave from the Gulf War, my wife and I purchased a TV, with an In-component DVD Player. Model Number 32MD251D/37. Within a month of purchase, the DVD player began to freeze up after playing a DVD for about ten minutes. This continued, and I filed an order to have Philips send someone out to look at the TV/DVD component. I was informed that someone from Minuteman TV would be out to look at it, and review for a possible repair. This agency never showed. I finally contacted Minuteman when I returned home from the War. He said that he no longer repaired or replaced these components, because they never lasted, and he had to always send them back to Philips for a full replacement. With that, I contacted Philips again, and they never returned my phone calls, my emails, or complaints. I eventually received notice to purchase an extended warranty, which I did, in hopes of getting the equipment repaired... To make a long story short; after numerous complaints, and reports to the BBB, my State Senate, Cosumer Agencies, and so forth, Philips finally found an agency to look at and repair the DVD player, in the TV. They showed up, determined that the Player needed to be replaced, and they ordered it. I received a phone call from this agency within days, and Philips has denied the order, and the process to fix the player, stating that it was a "Pre-existing condition", and they would not pay for it. Now, I am still in the process of all of this, 16 months after purchase, and still don't have resolve. I have continued to file complaints against Philips and the extended warranty contract company, until this is fixed. I go online, and call the BBB every day, and continue to file complaint, after complaint, and continue to contact the extended warranty company, along with Philips. I am so frustrated with the whole process, and don't know what to do anymore...

Philips bad service

I purchased an Elite model 9500 and had to have it replaced under warranty because the on/off button fell out. The replacement I was sent was the R710. This has only one brush head and no cord storage. The 9500 had two brush heads and cord storage in the base. Their R732 model has two brush heads and cord storage.

I explained this to the customer service rep I spoke with on the phone and also explained that on amazon.com, the 9500 and R732 are the same price and the R710 is $20 cheaper, indicating it is not an equivalent replacement for the 9500. I was rudely told that the R710 is better than the 9500 and that I could not get an R732 as a warranty replacement.

So now I have to go out and buy a pair of brush heads to be able to use the item I was sent to replace their defective product, and deal with a cord that is too long. I will never buy another Sonicare product again, and I will be careful to avoid buying anything made by Philips since they obviously make defective products which they refuse to stand behind.

Love the product. Hate the registration process. Tried the text method. Did not like the Model number. I went online and it gave me a list of 150 product numbers covered and they were not in alphabetic or numeric order. Very sloppy for a company the size of Philips. Mine was not there. Called the customer suport and they want my receipt. This is now at 45 minutes. It should have taken 5 at max.

My Flex Care HX6910 stopped working the other day. Contacted CHAT and texted with a person that not only knew nothing about the product, but could barely type in understandable English. Phillips!...where are you finding these people and what kind of technical training are you giving them? He finally told me to contact an 800 number for assistance. At least now I was talking to an educated person, however, no resolution was reached. I feel that for what I paid for this unit it should not have died so soon. From most of the posts that I have read it looks like units die out just after the warranty period expires...how convenient. Phillips, if you read this, I would strongly suggest you take care of your customers, and at minimum extend the warranties on your products to be more in line with the value of the product's cost.

Bought the battery operated Sonicare in February, 2013. Fourth identical unit I purchased. Used it three times on trips. Changed batteries once. Went dead during last trip. Changed batteries. Still dead. Changed to another set of new batteries. Still dead. Used CHAT at Philips for help. Got FRANK. If you need help and use chat and it is Frank, disconnect. He is zero help. I am wondering how, on a chat, he can make this grandma feel like an idiot. I did what he asked and it still didn't work although he assured me it would and he gave me the sign-off sentence asking if there was anything else he could help me with . . . it made me laugh since he didn't help me in the first place. I have loved Philips products for years but this year has found me at odds with Philips, twice, and neither experience was a good one.

Philips onicare Customer Services are reckless, do not comply with their own promises, and have statements on the Sonicare box that are not fullfilled: "IF YOU ARE NOT a 100% SATISFIED WITH THIS PRODUCT, WE WILL REFUND YOUR MONEY, NO QUESTIONS ASKED" - ha! Big lie - yesterday, I heard from a supervisor that the statement refunds within 90 days of the purchase date, and THIS IS NOT what is written on the box. I called about three times, never heard back from them, even after the promises that they would; they can not find your records, previous phone calls, chats with representatives, or your product registration online; I had to save the written contents of a chat with one of their reps, to prove that I have been having the contact and the complaint - shame on Philips! Maybe this is why they grow - bad products, even worse customer services, and they pocket your money...anyone can grow this way, too.

Philips false commitment since last 11 months

Dear All

This is just to inform you that i bought a 2600 watt 3 cd changer CD Player in the year 2000. I was very much satisfied with the quality of that CD Player ( Model595 C) and 2 of my other purchased the same set after i had purchased from Naveen Electronic ( At Moradabad ). But last year It got defected and stopped playing. We contacted Phillips Service centre at Moradabad( Mathur Electronics ) on dated 10 / 10 /07 . But your service centre at Moradabad is hopeless and the staff is non coperative. As per the service centre incharge Mr Mathur it has a minor defect that the sound IC is not working. As per his words he is trying very hard to get the New IC but he couldnot found it neither with company nor anywhere in India since last year. We had also paid him Rs 1500 for purchasing of IC. I have 2 Question

1 : I just want to know whether the IC is not available with the company since last year or your service centre Manager is Killing our Trust in your company since last year

2: Why a brand leader company is taking so time to povide service to your customers.

Since last 3 weeks they are commiting false commitments and they had never turned off. This is spoiling our Trust.

Kindly look into the matter and respond us urgentyl.

Should you have any question, Please do not hesitate to ask. or you can reach me at [protected]

Philips tech support / customer service

My LCD 47" TV broke down only 2 weeks after I got it After weeks of talking between their "customer service" and repair shops they finally picked it up. After 3 weeks the repair shop called the TV is fixes that they were returning the TV, after it was returned and installed again it worked for about an hour and after that it turned off again.

I called tech support again and they claim that there is nothing they can do to help I have to solve this with the local repair shop which is the worse repair shop in town BTW

If you ever need their tech support be prepaired to wait for at least 20 minutes and I was even disconnected several times, these people at Philips don't know how to spell the word "customer service"

I have always enjoyed Philips equipment but this was the last one.

Can i play my 280 gtx nividia card from my pc to the 47 inch phillips cineos 47pfl9703? I have tried to play it on my full hd tv and with a dvi hdmi socket from the pc to the tv with a hdmi cable and it displays a screen on occasion but then flickers black and comes back and then black then evetually reads "uncompatible video format". Both the Tv and the computer are recently bought like 1 month or so and are working well.

tried most of the ports that the tv can put in with hdmi and no success?

tried changing resolution on both pc and tv to 60 htz and no success?

how do i get a clear picture on my 47 inch phillips from my pc?

Philips defective 32& lcd

We bought a 32' Magnavox LCD from Circuit City Sept. 06, Model# 32MF231D $ 849.99. On 06-28-08 the LCD shut off and would not turn back on! we checked all the wires and cables, unplugged it, plugged it back in ...and so on. The next morning I called the Magnavox customer service center where I was greated by someone laughing their A$% off. I told her about the problem we were having and all she suggested was pushing the power button again! - what?- I got nowhere with her and hung up. I then emailed Philips consumer center and told them about the problem..They wrote back and said they were sorry but since my warranty had expired there was nothing they could do. Well i don't give up that easy, and over the next 2 weeks i wrote them 6 emails where i expressed my intense frustration with them and their screwed up LCD they sold me.
I finally got an email saying that they were sorry they sold me a defective LCD - well i thought thats what i needed! they had admitted that the LCD was defective and at least now they would have to repair it or send me a new one.
I called Philips again letting them know that i had an email in front of me where they state that they sold me a defective LCD. The guy put me on hold several times ...almost puzzled that someone in their Dept. would write that. I was feeling good, there was a glimmer of hope. The guy came back on the phone and asked me to fax the sales slip, and upon receiving it they would tell me what they could do for me.
I hurried out and faxed it July 15 2008. After waiting almost 2 weeks for a response i called them up on July 28 where i was told that my LCD was past warranty ( had told them that 1 month ago) and that they were not able to help me at all! - i am so angry with Philips for screwing me over and making me think that they would help me! I will never buy anything that says Philips on it or is in anyway associated with Philips! It's amazing to me how a company can screw their costumers like that, and not worry at all about it. There is no way that an LCD should expire after less that 2 years - what a total SCAM! Shame on you Philips & warning to others...don't buy from them.

Here is my last email to Philips / Magnavox..and yes, i was not happy.

Philips,

I just called "Steven" at customer support, however the news for me was not what I wanted or expected from your company. I was under the impression that you were willing to help me since you admitted to selling me a defective TV. I am so very disgusted with the way you handled this situation and how you made me believe that you would stand by your product! Shame on you!
I can assure you that we will NEVER EVER buy so much as a light bulb that says Philips on it...what a shame...
I really truly believe that you don't care at all about your customers, I thought i could prove to all the thousands of complaints online that you really would stand behind your product..but as of today Im in the same s$#T bin as they are.
I am reporting you to the BBB, and several online consumer reviews as is my right.
I should had gone with Sony. The LCD was less than 2 years old! and your review board found that that was way beyound the criteria for getting a repair, refund or replacement? - Are you kidding me? You knew a month ago that my LCD was out of warranty, yet you strung me along, had me fax my receipt to you ...blah - blah- blah...you were for sure going to do something for me.

Don't worry ...you will get screwed over too, maybe not today, but when you constantly screw people over, well then eventually it will come back to you. - good luck with that.

One of the emails from Philips:

Thank you for your email to Philips Consumer Lifestyle.

We understand your frustrations and we apologize for the inconvenience you encountered as a result of your defective TV and the service you got. Your concern will be forwarded to our (management department/or name of the department). This will be taken in consideration for us to improve our service.

We purchased a Magnavox 32 inch LCD flat screen TV with DVD player built in on March 15 2008. It was Model number 32MD357B/37 Serial number BZ5A0803150028. We purchased it at Sam's Club and also purchased an extra years service contract at the same time. It started acting up (starting a couple of months ago) by not turning on when you hit the turn on switch for a minute or so. Then when it finally does come on it won't stay on and keeps turning the picture off while the on switch is still on, then when the picture does reappear it makes a loud static sound and multi colored stripes come on with it and then the picture goes away again. This will happen several times before the picture will finally come on completely. Sometimes we have to completely unplug the set and wait a bit and then plug it in again to make it even try to start up again. It is getting worse. We called Sam's Club extended service contract access phone number. We were immediately told that the contract was expired and that we have no recourse, that they won't do anything for us. We were told that Magnavox provided a service contract for the first year and then the additional service contract from Sam's Club would kick in when that expired. We will never renew our membership at Sam's Club again or buy another Magnavox product. We are very dissatisfied with both companies. No help from either, all we got was rudeness and indifference from them. Very poor customer service and we will make sure everyone we know hears about this and are all advised not to purchase another Magnavox product! No wonder this country's economy is in such a mess. No one should be treated like this. A very poor investment choice as I see it. I believe we will turn this matter over to the consumer help division of our local news channel and see what they can do with it. Maybe even to all the network news channels.

Philips extremely after sale service

I had purchased music system from ezone city center Hyderabad India in Jul/07 in the name of my son Mr. Abhijeet Taneja. The system went unserviceable in Apr 08 & the same was given for repairs at co's authorized service center M/S DIG WAVES Hyderabad India on Apr/30 vide work order no. 00502 of Apr/30.The system is still under warranty period. This is the third time the sys. has been given for repairs. It indicates poor quality control. Inspite of my repeated reminders to the service center & the help line of Phillips the music system has not been given to me after repairs. There is no response at all & valid reasons for such inordinate delays. The Co. of such repute is not bothered towards customer satisfaction. A couldn't careless attitude.

Philips unprofessioanl behavior at authorised service centre

I would like to present the bad experience I had in dealing with an authorised philips service centre.

On 3rd May 2008, I visited the Philips service centre near Marathahalli, Bangalore for getting my DVD player repaired. I reached VKS Services and met Mr Subaiya (contact number [protected]). I handed my DVD player over to him. The model of the DVD player is DVP320. I explained him the problem and he told me the repair cost of replacing the lens assembly. I agreed to the cost. He started preparing the paper. I asked him how much time will it take to get it repaired, he told me 15 days. Since I wanted to give the player to our guests who were visiting us for a few days, anticipating usual delays in repair, I requested him to repair it within one week i.e. by 10th May. I left with the papers and with his assurance that it will be done. I was out of town over that weekend and my guests were leaving on 17th, hence I called Mr Subaiya on 14th to check whether the player is repaired. He told me that they havent started the repair of that player and that he will start the work the next day. I told him that I will take the delivery the next day i.e. 15th. When I called him to inquire on 15th, he shamelessly told me that they dont have the spares to repair the player and hence cannot be repaired and told me that if I want I could take it back unrepaired.

My questions are
Why did he not check the availability of spares the day I gave him for repair?
Why did he promise me for the thing he was not able to do?
He had my phone number. Why he has not called me in time to inform me abour his inability?

He and philips have lost my trust with this incident. He has uabashedly lied to me. THis shows a total lack of professionalism. I never expected such a pathetic experience from an AUTHORISED PHILIPS service centre.

He has wasted my 10 days and yet the player is not repaired. I have only one day before the guests leave. How will I get the work done?

Philips very poor service

The authorised Service Station of Philips in Indore is very unresponsible & shows total apathy to customer complaints. My 29 " TV gets shut down after starting, automatically, then it has to be restarted at least 12-15 times before it starts functioning normally. It has been repaired few times-parts replaced-money paid by me but still problem continues.

I have purchased the 29" TV through exchange offer. Just after 13months of the purchase the TV started showing some color variation in the screen. The service guy came and informed us that the 2-in-one kept above the TV cabinet is the cause of the same. The TV which was exchanged to purchase this TV was also in the same place for last 5yrs while there was no such complaint. Anyway, as suggested I have to shift the 2-in-one. The color variation is still there but is not frequent. Now the TV went off suddenly as if there is some sparking happening with in the TV. The service gut came and replaced some parts with some expenditure naturally, as the 1yr gurantee period was already over, while the sound went off. Which was told to us that it will be repaired soon. I'm writing this grievance after 2months of follow-ups, still it is not repaired. So, pl. do not buy Philips TV...my number is [protected] and I'm at Hyderabad...

In fact i had paied double than the other TV available in the market for philips branks and their technology. Now philips customer care is saying they will not repaire this and chargers are extremely hich that no body can afford that.. So pls dont go for Philips TV at least...

Philips faulty piece!

I purchased a Philips Mini Home Theatre System in June. The model Number of the system is MCD 288/98 & the Product Serial Number is AJ020718015426 . The System is meant to play DVD's, VCD's & MP3 Players & also has a USB Connectivity so that you can play songs stored on a USB Thumb Drive. We got this system from Chroma the Electronics store situated in malad (West) Mumbai. Me & my wife were very happy when we purchased this system as it looked sleek & just perfect for our small house as we wanted to buy a home theater system but one which did not have too many speakers & one which was not huge so that the maintenance would be easy.

But our happiness lasted only for a month as within a month's time the player stopped reading the CD's . The Philips service center people visited our house & took it to the repair center & returned it back to us after almost three weeks time with damaged speakers. After much fight with them we managed to get one speaker replaced which was physically damaged. The same problem of the player not reading the CD's resurfaced in just about two months & the system had to be sent back to repairs. This time it was returned within 2 weeks time. But after about 3 months time another problem occurred & this time the player was unable to eject the CD's & even unable to play them. The system was sent again to repairs last week which was carried by the philips service center guys & returned back today but the problem still remains.

We had asked for a replacement of the piece when the problem occurred the first time within a month of its purchase but then after much promises from people at philips that it can be repaired, we agreed for its repairs. Now it is almost three times within the warranty period that the system has got damaged & again now even sent without completely diagnosing the issue. I feel very frustrated & have a feeling to just throw away the system in a trash coz its just worth the trash. But the sad thing is we have spent almost Rs. 13,000 to buy a system that does not even perform its basic function i.e playing the CD.

I purchased a Mixer cum grinder on [protected] from a retail dealer M/s Maharaja Home Appliances, #248, 4th Main Road, Coffee Board Lay out, Hebbala Kempapura, Bangalore-560024. The mixer went out of order on [protected]! I took it to the shop keeper from whom I had bought the piece. He said the couplers were damaged and sent the piece to service centre through his wholesale Dealer. The service centre said that the motor was damaged and needs to be set right or replaced.
Ifelt cheated as the mixer went out of order in about a month's time only from date of purchase. I wanted the piece to be replaced. The retail dealer refused stating that the Company does not agree! The service centre said that they will only attend to servicing by repairing defective parts or replacing them and have no authority to replace the entire piece.
I sent awritten complaint to Philips Arena, Rajajinagar, Bangalore-560010. There has been no response! Mr.Ganesh and Mr. Sriram to whom I was referred to never attended their Phones! One lady who identified herself as Team Leader said she would sort out the issue within a coupleof days! But I have not heard anything from her so far! When I tried to contact her on the Phone No. she gave me I got a message that the Phone No. did not exist! I left my complaint on your portal which has your contact details.Though I receive a confirmation that the complaint has been registere and has been forwarded to the appropriate person for further action, nothing has transpired till date! Meanwhile The defective piece was returned to me stating that the fault has been repaired. Yesterday the mixer has again given the same trouble namely that thecouplers are damaged! Is my fate that I should be contaent with the defective piece only! Am I not entitled for a new and faultless piece? I am convinced I am! I have also told that I may be forced to seek redressal through Conumer Forum! Even then there has been no response fromyou! I never thought that a reputed firm like Philips will act in such a partisan manner!
Hope that at least now some one in your System attends to my complaint and give me a new mixer in place of the defective piece which is giving me trouble!
Otherwise I shal be driven to go to Consumer Forum!
Thank you!
Yours sincerely,
lpsastry.

I have purchased a Home theater SP080 FM on 26/4/2008. After 3 months of working, It had given very rough sound. If it is running for more than 2 hrs. it’s voice start breaking. When I complained to Philips customer care center Raj Nagar, Ghaziabad. They checked the set and replaced with new one.

But it would be more surprised to me that in new set of SP080 FM had a major problem. We cannot reduce the volume only we can increase the volume. Again Engineer brought it to his customer care center. He has done something and said now it is working fine. But how do I ensure that that set will work fine again. Even I have seen that Philips engineer in customer care center don’t not have much knowledge of the SP080.

So I want to replace the set again. But Customer care executive is not doing the same and he said that I cannot do it as Company will ask me. If you have something then contact to company. Please help me out to get it replace.

Thanks & Regards

Why philips donot read their complaints, if not solve them. The complaints seem to be easy to handle if one considers and studies them with patience. If I am noway connected to philips have the habit of going thorugh these, why not the paid executives and CEo's
make them selves available for this. These are people who shun Grey markets ruled by antinationals, one should be more sensitive
towards them to bring them back to philips fold.Thats how a brand can be built and made to sustain the competition

I had purchased a DVD Mini HiFi system model FWD 573 from Big Bazaar, City Pride Kothrud on 10th Aug 08. I got a factory packed piece from the dealer. When I installed it at home the remote did not work properly and I could switch on or off the system using remote. I did follow all the instructions given in the manual about new set of batteries of same brand, no obstacle in the system and remote. The remote was working for other functions such as volume control. The next day this also stopped and if I press any button of the remote it shows DBB and it goes to DBB 1 then 2 then 3 and then OFF. I am not able to understand whether it is the system problem or remote problem because even without using the remote the system also behaves funnily. If I press the Max button on the system and I just try to shut the glass doors of my cupboard it automatically switches to DBB mode. Even while I am reducing the volume using the radio butto on the system it swiathes to DBB.
Please help... should I get the system replaced ... will the dealer give me a replacement.

I had purchased a Philips LCD 32TA2800(N21), Serial No.: CQ1A0801002142 from M/s Vijay Sales, Ghatkopar (W), Mumbai. However, after installation of the same by the Authorized person of Philips Electronics India Ltd., the set began to show problems of blinking and complete blackout of the picture within a few days. I had lodged a complaint with your authorized service centre and the engineer had done only tuning and told that in future, the problem will not come up. However, again after a few days, the same problem developed and again I lodged the complaint with your service centre. After 3-4 visits by the engineer some part was changed by him and he had assured that in future the set will be functioning properly. However, even after that, the problem has not been solved and there is continuous blinking and blackout of the picture. I have again lodged the complaint with your service station, but no satisfactory response service is being received by me.

I have spent my hard earned money on purchase of the above TV and I am shocked to receive such a treatment from a reputed company like Philips.

It is evident that there is some manufacturing defect in the set which, your authorized service station is unable to rectify.

In the circumstances, I involve the warranty of the set and call upon you to immediately replace the set with a new one of the same make/model.

Since I am feeling a lot of inconvenience and mental stress due to faulty functioning of the new TV set. I call upon you to take immediate action in the matter and replace the set without any further delay.

The same thing happend to me very recently. I bought a 5-in-1 Sound machine recently and it failed to perform within a month. We took the unit to the service centre and they said that we should have given it back to the dealer from whom we had purchased. It is more than three weeks and the unit has not been given back to us.

If it takes about three weeks to diagnize the problem and service it, how awful should the manufacture be.

This is not the first problem. I had faced similar problems with Philips products in 1999 when I purchased a double deck casette recorder.

Philips beware of the philips brand lcd flat screen hd televisions!

Beware of the Philips brand LCD Flat screen HD televisions. Ours failed after a two years of operation. It can only be repair at the Philips Repair in Arkansas.

There was a prepaid repair charge with the following stipulation. If the set could not be repaired they would refund the prepaid repair charge and provide a comparable new or refurbished TV.

The total cost of the prepaid repair and shipping was $479.00 I thought this was a bit pricy, questioning Philips QC and so stated in a letter to the CEO of Philips in Amsterdam Netherlands. Within 7 days, I received a call saying that they had received my letter and would be refunding my money. I ask about the status of the TV and the caller said she did not know, that I would have to call the repair facility.

Knowing that the shipment had not arrived in Arkansas at the time of the call (UPS Trace) I waited 3 weeks before calling. When I did call I was told that the TV was not repairable and they had refunded my money. True, the cost of the prepaid repair and shipping had been refunded and received about a week prior. I was also told that they would not be sending a comparable TV because they no longer made one. Their conclusion was the I was out a $1,300.00 TV.

About one week later I received via UPS a large carton that contained what appeared to be my TV. Included were new cables, new remote control, and a shipping sheet/work order where it was checked off as repaired 1/30/08. I was confused. If the set could not be repaired why the expense of sending it back. If the set was repaired why tell me it was unrepairable.

Upon attempting to use the set I discovered that it no longer received the HD cable signal. I call the cable provider, they checked their system, sent a technician, provided new cables, retested the cable box, reprogramed the remote, and concluded that the set was not working properly.

All of this run around and lack of complete information from a single source leads me to not recommend Philips products.

As a long term Philips customer, I have good satisfaction with Philips.

I have Philips CTV, Philips Music System, Philips Light accessories for the past 15 years with good quality. My experience with Philips is wealthy and also my friends and relatives do the same.

It's pathetic about the two experiences cited above. I think it is exceptional. Anyway you may get a proper response from the customer care soon.

I bought a 27" philips tv about 2 years ago and my son tells me that the tv had problems starting, I confirm that it did, finelly the television was on April 30, 2008 and all of a sudden it shut down and it makes a low pitch sound like a cricket, it comes out of a small transformer in the hardware. And so now I know that, and I always thaought that philips products where really bad that is why I can not buy any product that has phlips name in it. The thing where can I get the part for this unit.

We do have problems with products but this one wins for sure.

Philips sound problem

I've bought a philips 21 inch tv last year since from then i have a problem that is when i switch on the tv it starts normally but after 1 minute the sound suddenly stops, then if i leave the tv idle for about 1 minute or if i change the channel sound restarts with a full volume if i decrease the sound by 1 level then sound returns to normal position.the remedy i'm using is mute the sound then chamge the channel decrease the sound and then increase it.
I've complained on this problem to my dealer within warranty but he said that the chip is not available with him and he did'nt did anything
inspite of this problem i've found that the sound depth & clarity is outstanding when compared to other 21 inch models .especially the bass output is good without a woofer

You're asking the wrong person. Have you contacted the manufacturer Philips? It is usually the manufacturer, not the dealer, that fixes these problems. I know from firsthand experience. I purchased a brand new HDTV that kept popping up a message every 30 minutes or so about video connections changing. I called the manufacturer directly. They knew exactly what the problem was, sent repair people to my house to pick up the TV, took it for a few days to repair it, and returned it safe and sound. Never a problem since. A bit frustrating at the time, but no complaints whatsoever about the professional repair service I received. Anyway, call Philips. Their phone number should be in the owner's manual.

Philips tv is a lemon

Bought a Philips 37" LCD TV from Best Buy on 9/28/07. Had to return the TV because it has a defective screen - a line of pixels were out - Best Buy took care of that because it was within their 30 day guarantee. On 11/24/2007 the audio went out on the TV. It will be sitting in the authorized Philips repair shops for weeks because Philips is notorious for not being prompt with part for their service centers - I have no recourse that I know of. Philips TV's suck... don't buy one under any circumstance

We have THREE Philips TVs. Our 37" one started a couple of months ago blacking out for no reason. It started doing it maybe once every couple of days and now does it every 15 minutes or so. Our TVs are three years old. The repairman said the part would cost us $450, and he is searching for it now. We live in a remote area and don't have a lot of choices on repair shops. I bought these TVs on the recommendation of Consumer Reports -- I never would have bought an American TV otherwise. I have never had a TV perform so poorly. We are now anxiously awaiting the demise of the other two TVs as well.

I bought a DVD recorder in November 2008. I kept complaining that sometimes the machine would not burn a DVD. I was told try a different brand of DVDs. I worked sometimes. Then my mom's hip broke and I was busy with her for a couple of months. I tried to use the machine again around December 2009. The DVD drive wouldn't open. I wanted it fixed so i called and was told the warranty had expired but to take it to one of their authorized repair centers. I told them it needed a new DVD drive and asked if they could fix it. I was assured they could get the part and they could fix it. I got a call a month later and they said to pick up my machine because they could not get the part. To add insult to injury, i was charged $45 for looking at the machine even after telling them what it needed. Philips does not stock spare parts (based on my circumstance) so if you buy any of their products be careful because if if any of their products break you may have to use it as a paperweight.
Buyer Beware when it comes to buying Philips Products. I know i am not going to buy any of their products.

I have purchased a 21" TV from India, Kerala in 2005. 3 months ago the TV got compliant and need repair. I informed the Philips Service Center for repairing. After several verbal requests only the Technician from Service Center visited our home to repair the TV. By checking the TV, the Technicaian informed us that one IC got compliant and he has taken the board whcih is having IC. But even after 2 months, the Service Center says that compliant IC is not available in anywhere in Kerala. I wonder, a reputed company and their product having only 4 years of life, parts not avilable. This is not acceptable. In our home, almost all Electronics items are from Philips. Now I am thinking to avoid Philips, because there is no customer service from their side and no guarentee for their products.

Purchased 27 tv around 10/2003 and in June, 2006 the tv stopped working. The tv turned itself during programming and would not come back on. Thetv has never been moved since its purchase. I contacted customer support and was told that I was no longer under warranty and given the names of some repair shops .
I contacted International TV Sales & Service and scheduled an appointment for July 14, 2006. The repairmen arrived and for $80 attempted to perform the diagnostics on the tv but was unsuccessful. The tv was taken in to the shop. After a week I contacted the store and was informed they were still waiting for parts. On July 29th, 2006 the store informed me that my tv had extensive damage and was unable to be fixed. I was also told that there was no way that the parts inside of my tv were less than three years old and that they were defective.
I contacted Magnavox again and was informed to send a written complaint to Philips which I did. On August 15, 2006, a copy of the tv service order stating the extensive damage was included along with the letter. Philips sent me a letter saying I was out of warranty.

I even filed a complaint with BBB of Atlanta, Georgia but Philips kept sending me rebuttals stating the tv could have been damaged in the factory and they were sorry or it was no longer under warranty. Then, the last rebuttal even stated that I was under warranty until September, 2006 and could have gotten the tv fixed. Pretty ironic that I wasnt informed of this until October, 2006 and all the reps. I spoke with informed me that my warranty had expired in 1/2004 . I infomed Philips of this and the only response I recd was a letter stating they could not help me.

Philips is NOT a company that stands behind its products. I have never been so disappointed in a company in all my life.

Word to the wise...watch buying any electronics from Philips. Bought a home theatre system in 9/08...stopped playing DVD's in 1/09...still under warranty. After 3 phone calls 1 of which I got hung up on. I finally got someone that tested our unit & decided it needed replaced. Replacement unit arrived today. It refurbished & doesn't work either. Called & reported that & asked questions about our warranty & extended warranty. Basically my extended warranty that I paid for is going to be useless. It will go from the original date of purchase on the new unit. Is it just me or does it seem like a bunch of crap that ours was new when purchased & they send me a used one? My son bought a refurbished one & paid 1/2 of what I did. Maybe they should offer a partial refund because they're sending refurbished to replace brand new? Not the case...their policy is to send a refurbished unit out. Kinda funny that a friend of mine had one that the extended warranty was about to expire & they send her a BRAND NEW UNIT! We have requested a new unit but yeah right...we all know that won't happen. So now I've had no DVD player for 10 days & it will take at least another 10 days for the replacement to arrive. Let's just say...no more Philips products for this family ever. Lesson learned.

Philips music system fwd832

We bought the music system FWD832 on 14th October, 2007 with great pride and trust in the company and the dealer (Navrang Electronics, Vikas Marg, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi). We have been a customer of the latter for the last 15 years and more and have been using Philips products for practically all our life. But to our greatest disappointment last month has been a nighmare following up with the dealer as well as Philips after sales service to get our defected music system replaced, which was declared as "out of box" defected piece on the day it was installed along with our brand new 32 inch LCD TV.
It's almost impossible to mention the number of calls that we have made that have fallen on deaf ears. We have spoken to Mr. Sachin Chaturvedi, Mr. Deepak Sahay and some other employees at Philips and at the dealer shop but till date (November 12, 2007) no action has been taken.
As a last resort, we are writing to this complaint board with the hope that some action would be taken and soon...

Philips amblight problems

Philips 42" LCD Flatpanel TV Model 42PF9831D/37 Ambilight
www.philips.com

I purchased a brand new Philips 42" Flatpanel TV from a company named Dad's Toys. I registered the television's warranty with Philips when I received it in April. I had the TV less than a month and the bottom right corner of the Ambilight feature kept going out, also the picture kept going dark. I phone Philip's warranty service and they set up an appointment with Electra-Sound in Parma to have it fixed. Electa-Sound came and picked up the television, finally, on 7/31/07. They had it almost a month and finally returned it on 8/22/07. They said the television was fixed, they ran it three days and the picture was fixed and the ambilight was fixed. I watched the television for 15 minutes and the same bottom right corner of the ambilight went out again. I immediately phoned Philips about this. They said they would still pay Electra-Sound for fixing it, even though they clearly did not touch it, and I could call Pro-Tec Electric in Cuyahoga Falls to again have it fixed at their expense. I phoned Pro-Tec and explained the problem. They were unable to pick up the television for repair for two weeks, so I brought it to them sometime in the beginning of September of 2007. They looked at the television and were able to fix the picture, just a software update. As far as the ambilight, they needed to order a new source board for the inside. Upon ordering the part, they found out that Philips no longer had the part in stock. Philips then contacted me about this and offered to replace the television. They wanted to give me the new model, I am attaching the model number. I reluctantly agreed to this. Reluctantly because the television I had purchased had the full ambilight feature, meaning the light was on all the way around the television, retailing for 3500.00. The television they were sending only has the ambilight on the sides, retailing for 1699.00 I was very upset on the phone being as I was losing so much money, but all they said was they were replacing it with the 'comparable' model they now produce. Other words they gave me no choice, take what they are offering or keep my original television that was broken. So I agreed, told them to send it just to be done with the matter and have my television back. They shipped the replacement on 9/26/07 to Pro-Tec. Pro-Tec received the television and I picked it up from them on 10/18/07. I brought it home, opened it up, and discovered that Philips in fact did not send me a new television, they sent me a 'refurbished' television. The front of this television is covered with scratches. I am sick of trying to talk to them about this. I want MY television replaced. I've already lost alot of money over this and they are not standing by their warranty. They didn't replace my new television with a new television. They sent me a used one and pretty much told me the difference in the cost is pretty much too bad, they can't do anything about it. I either want a brand new television to replace my original television, or I want a 3500.00 refund so I can purchase a new television from another manufacturer. Can someone please help me with this?

Sincerely Frustrated

We have a 42" ambilight and it has worked fine until the warranty ran out. Now you can't turn it on without un plugging it and waiting and replug. This morning after the unplug ritual, the picture is green. We have tried to adjust it, but it seems we have a big old black and white TV. Any suggestions on repair or cause of the color problem.

Listen, when you buy a TV or any product with a warranty it is a CONTRACT. Said company with warranty will stand by their product DURING it's course of the warranty period. Maybe if you actually bothered to READ the warranty you might have noticed it read and I quote from what it says in the back of your manual: "At its option, Philips will either (1) repair the product at no
charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, or (2)
exchange the product with a product that is new or which
has been manufactured from new, or serviceable used parts
and is at least functionally equivalent or most comparable
to the original product in Philips current inventory, or (3)
refund the original purchase price of the product."

So! It looks to me that Philips went with option 2 and replaced your TV with a refurbished unit which is WELL within their right to do. Why? BECAUSE, as SOON as you bought that TV you consented to their warranty and all the terms it applied. You have NO right to tell Philips that they were wrong in exchanging your TV with that model they provided to you.

Also let me explain something else to you in case you aren't aware. When retail stores sell TVs for 3000 or 4000 or whatever the price may be, it is the STORES price not Philips. Philips will sell the TVs to the store at what they call a WHOLESALE price. It is up to the retailer's discretion as to what they will sell it to consumer's. Usually it will always be higher than the wholesale price so the retailer will make some profit.

So to end it all, man up, take care of business and stop whining. Learn to live life and appreciate it for what it's worth and not ### and crying because poor little David got "screwed" with an electronic that is guaranteed to break down.
