PetSmart humiliated in front of customers

I went to a local Petsmart to buy some of the black friday specials.
When walking around the store I saw 2 shoppers with a cart loaded of a special price cat litter. I also witnessed one of them opening one of the cat litter box on the floor. As I did not know what was going on I decided to ask what was the good deal about that item. They told me that besides the sale price a $ 5 gift coupon comes inside of each box. I then decided to get one as well and open to see myself if the $ 5 gift coupon was inside as I know sometimes containers or bottles can be opened without breaking the seal.
As I was opening the container the 2 shoppers walked away leaving the opened container behind. Also as I was opening the container one of the store associates (Sara) walked by and shouted that I would not be able to use the gift coupon today anyways. Regardless of the rude way she approached me I decided to place the gift coupon back inside of the container and get 3 other containers and continue to shop.
A few minutes later the same associate (Sara) showed up in front of me to accuse me of opening a container she had with her and taking the gift coupon. I was shocked with her attitude. I tried to tell her that the container I did open was inside of my cart and that I was going to pay for it. She threatened to call her manager. I told her once again that she was making a mistake and that I did not care to have her manager talk with me.
As I tried once again to continue shopping associate Sara and her manager approached me and in front of a few customers and she once again accused me of opening the container and taking the gift coupon. I was speechless and embarrassed with the whole situation. I tried explaining once more to Sara and the mananger that I was just making sure the coupon was in the container however associate Sara continued to humiliate me in front of the other customers. Her manager just tried to tell me that I would not be able to redeem the gift coupons today anyways. I was'nt even interested in using the coupon at that time anyways. I was only checking to see that the coupon did actually come in the container as the other customers had told me.
I never felt so insulted and humiliated in my entire life. I am a good person who works hard. I would "NEVER" allow myself to steal a $ 5 gift coupon.
I left this store in tears and as a result, Petsmart has lost my business and last but not least Petsmart associate Sara and her manager seem to not have any customer service skills whatsoever.
Associate Sara's behavior was wrong, rude and unacceptable.

PetSmart groomimg

I wanted to treat my cat Molly to a somewhat professional haircut, bath and nail trim and whatever else is included in the $70 package. Well she got no bath (bethany wiped her with a cloth) nails on one paw cut (one out of four paws) and no haircut around her bottom area (she has a stinky bottom). She got one nipple nipped with the clippers (I overlooked this. I am sure it happens. poor Molly) The "groomer" said Molly would not let her do these things and she didnt want to stress Molly out and make her have a heart attack. She wanted me to come back another time with Molly. I said no because we waited 3 weeks for this appointment. I was offered $11 off. I took it just to get me and Molly out of the store. I cut Molly's nails at home frequently and wash her off with the cloth with no problem. Your store provided me with not even half of what we came for. I want to be fully reimbursed. I will continue to "do it myself at home". Bethany didnt want to do what we wanted to begin with, she kept just wanting to do a bath only. She kept picking up 5 year old Molly like a mother cat would her kittens by the back of her neck with no support on any other body part.

PetSmart - the person selling the fish would not sell them to me because the bowl I was buying was not big enough

I was in the Petsmart in Salem MA earlier today. I was there to purchase some small fish for my daughter. I have a larger tank at home but was going to keep the new fish in a bowl just for a while so my 5 year old could care for them and call them her own. The person selling the fish would not sell them to me because the bowl I was buying was not big...

PetSmart rude service for $10.99

A few weeks ago, I took my baby boy Angelo, a 14-week old Welsh Corgi, to the groomers at PetSmart. I give him regular baths at home and I follow professional grooming manuals to the letter. However, I wanted him to get his nails done and his ears cleaned. We made an appointment and got the Puppy Package for him. I dropped him off and the girl there was rude and cold to me and to an elderly couple who was picking up there Chihuahua. We handed Angelo over and went out to finish our shopping. Mind you, this was a Sunday and they weren't that busy. We got a call at 1:30 saying he'd be ready for pickup in about 20 minutes. When I got there, she still had an attitude as she brought him back to me. I had to ask for the bandana they were supposed to give me for free, but that wasn't the issue. After sending my boyfriend out to pay, they finally handed me my dog. Problem one: as he scurried to get away from her and to me, he clawed my arm. As I was carrying him out, I checked his paws and saw his nails were UNTOUCHED. They hadn't even TRIED to file them. Problem Two: He hadn't been washed, at most he had some water dumped on him because his undercoat was coarse and dirty feeling. I've owned enough dogs to know when they've been washed well and he had not. Problem Three: His ears were still filthy. They hadn't done anything except leave a redness in his right ear which I wrote off as a poor cleaning job that had maybe irritated him a little. We tried to dismiss it, but we were livid. On 4/1/09, we had to take my baby to the 24 hour hospital because the redness was worse. Not only that, he began mauling his ear, shaking his head and crying loudly. The vet swabbed him and he has a yeast infection that we'll be treating for 7-10 days and hope it doesn't become recurring. My point: not only did the woman NOT do her job, she hurt my puppy. The vet says we can't prove she did anything since infections are so easy to catch, but he's never had one before. She says what may have happened is they may have poured or gotten water in his ear which, as any REAL groomer will tell you, is a HUGE no-no for Corgis. The poor little guy is still suffering, but hopefully he will improve. I want back the amount of the grooming, the amount of the vet bill for the tests and the medicine and I want that woman fired. The third thing is the most important because nobody should hand over their baby to an inept teenager with an attitude problem who doesn't do her job and manages to harm an otherwise healthy dog. We will never enter PetSmart again.

Honestly, he COULDN'T have gotten a yeast infection in his ears the same day he was groomed. If he picked up anything outside of fleas you wouldn't have known it "that " same day .its likely that cleaning his ears probably irritated the infection he had already. And sometimes, when there is a lot pf gunk in the ears you have to clean them and then wait for the dog to shake his head and bring more gunk up from the cannal and clean them again. IM sorry your dog s having trouble with his ears its sad when they are miserable like that, however You cant blame that on the groomer under the circumstances you describe. Its one of those things, it just happened.

I own a pet sitting business and I ALWAYS tell my clients, if your going to get your dog groomed take them to a grooming salon, not a pet store that does grooming also. The pet stores usually hire young inexperienced groomers, or those JUST out of grooming school. The good ones work in grooming salons. You can also look into mobile groomers, which are really nice b/c your dog is back inside their own home when they are done. I'm not slamming on you by any means, but you get what you pay for, spend a little more and take your dog to a grooming salon in your area.

PetSmart attitude and grooming

Very disatisfied!
Took my cat in, (Finally). To have a bath, nails cut, and haircut.
I dropped him off @ 11:00 am and was told he'll be done at 3pm.
I went back in and they told me they weren't done and that he'll be
Done after 330pm..
When I brought him home I noticed that they didn't do what
I wanted them to do. I wanted a complete haircut. They just shaved
His butt. I wanted all his under belly shaved and all his hair shaved.
I even specifically suggested they shave all the way down his legs to his calfs,
But that wasn't done that way.
Also, my cat is very hard to put in his kennel, so I cancelled several times in the past.
When I made this appointment they told me if I had to cancel again I wouldn't be
Able to make any more appointments...
"i'm the customer and feel I was treated rudely!"

PetSmart staff complaint

I was about to pay and happened to see a beautiful dog id tag cost $20 or so, I picked it up and wanted to have help getting it engraved. The cashier directed me to a machine so I asked could he help me. His reply was No I cannot leave the cashregister. So I said forget it then. I had expected to be told that somebody could help me. After I payed what I came in for I asked for this persons supervisor. He pointed at the next cashregister where a customer payed and left. I had to call the person as he turned his back to me. He was of no help agreeing with the cashier. I understand that reasoning very well. BUT the least I think the supervisor should have offered to help or get someone to help me. I just wonder if this store is not customer friendly at all. I am amazed that there was no interest to sell a $20 + id tag. I recomend this store get some education in customer service

That would be fleas not ticks if they were jumping off of your dog and onto your bed. Ticks don't jump, they connect to your dog and suck their blood. Frontline does not work on my dogs at all. I use Advantage or Revolution (but Revolution has to be prescribed by a vet since it covers heartworm also).

PetSmart assaulted at petsmart in whitby by manager don lee

I visited the PetSmart store in Whitby, Ontario, Canada to purchase packets of Whiskas tender bites food for my newly adopted cat. So this was my first visit to the store. As I was searching in the cat food aisle, I received a text message on my phone that I was expecting from a friend. I immediately removed my phone from my coat pocket and responded and put the phone back into my pocket. I then see a man quickly approach me from the other end of the aisle, at which point he violently shoves me up against the aisle, refusing to let me go. A female customer in the store came to my aid after hearing me shouting and screaming and told the man to get his hands off me. I then realize that it was the stores general manager Don who just assaulted me, and he was accusing me of stealing and asked me to empty my pockets. I asked the the female customer to call the police and refused to empty my pockets until they arrived. Two police officers arrived approximately five minutes later as we all waited in the aisle. This immediately caused a spectacle in the store, as dozens of customers and employees watched as the police questioned us. The police asked me to remove everything in my pockets, only to find my cell phone and car keys. I did not steal anything! A police report was filed, however no charged were laid because I decided I would like to address the issue with a civil action (I am currently planning a lawsuit with my lawyer). I was never given an apology by Don, I only received an email from PetSmart head office with an apology which seemed like an automated message after complaining to them after the incident. I will never visit this store again as this was the most appalling and embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me!

PetSmart - overcharged

I have taken my Weimaraner to the PetSmart hotel a number of times over the past 12 months. They were super friendly, however twice now I recieved a bill I had not expected reflecting charges that I was never informed of. The last of which I was not allowed to recieve my dog until the bill was paid. The bill was $294.00 I am also contacting Petsmart corporate regarding this matter. The next step will be to contact the BBB

PetSmart grooming

The grooming department and the management of the White Flint, MD Petsmart engage in discriminatory practices against geriatric and ailing dogs, some of them their longest customers. Yesterday, we discovered that the manager of the White Flint, MD Petsmart and its groomers have decided they no longer will groom dogs 10 years or older. This same corporation, which embraces a compassionate business model by demonstrating beneficence to abandoned animals through supporting rescue organizations, permits its store managers and grooming departments to cast out the most vulnerable geriatric and sick dogs.

At the White Flint Petsmart, the groomers several months ago began issuing "behavioral report cards" to clients. At first, I thought this was a nice innovation. But, then, I learned the report cards are not being used to promote best practices. Rather, they are a means to blackball animals, including 2 of my dogs, one a 15-year veteran and the other a client for more than 6 years. The first was thrown out, because, according to his report card, "he is too old to be groomed." When we questioned a representative from the grooming department about this point yesterday, we learned the manager and groomers had instituted a new rule, which states that they do not groom dogs 10 years or older.

The "report card" system also is used to blackball animals who have ailments, which are readily treated, once identified. My other dog, as I pointed out to the groomer, had a sore on her cheek (turned out she had an abscessed tooth), which might have explained why she suddenly (after being a client for 8 years) became snippy when she was being groomed. "No problem," she said. I took the dog to the vet the next day. I had the tooth treated. She is back to her old self. Nonetheless, as we also discovered yesterday, she also is permanently black balled from the White Flint Petsmart groomers. What purpose, then do the "report cards" serve? If the intention is to permanently blackball a client, why go through the trouble of issuing a "report card'? Why not have a manager address you in person, when a groomer does not want a dog to return. WE ARE ADULTS. WE DO NOT NEED REPORT CARDS.

More importantly, where is a long-term customer supposed to go, after having spent 15 years as a client at a facility, only to be told that the dog has aged out of the grooming department, now that there are new rules? The grooming department at the White Flint Petsmart recommended we speak with our vet. Our vet was absolutely outraged when we told her that the groomer said the dog, who at 15 is admittedly ancient, was too old to be groomed. When we showed her the"report card, " she was angry. She said it was not only unprofessional but also unethical for a groomer to suggest a dog was too old to be groomed. She also said she was a medical professional and therefore Petsmart should not be recommending that we discuss with her, or for that matter any veterinarian, what effectively were business decisions and not best practices related to animal care.

I highly suspect the latter is why the White Flint Petsmart has not sent out an official card to each of its clients with pets 10 years and older, explaining the change, the reasons behind it, and providing a recommendation of what to do next. The store's manager has made a business decision, which runs counter to all the best practices of animal care. Why is he refusing to acknowledge that veterinarian medicine has made it possible for dogs to live longer? What's next, banning the sales of glucosamine? It is outrageous... IF YOU TREAT YOUR PUPPY OR DOG WELL AND PROVIDE HIM OR HER ROUTINE VETERINARIAN CARE, THEN STAY AWAY FROM THE WHITE FLINT PETSMART GROOMING DEPARTMENT. OTHERWISE, WHEN YOUR DOG BECOMES OLD, HE OR SHE WILL BE CAST OUT, AND YOU WILL NO LONGER HAVE A GROOMER. It is much better to establish a long-term relationship with compassionate, responsible groomers, who are aware and acknowledge advances in veterinarian medicine, by working not only with young, cute puppies, but also are willing to see them through adulthood into old age.

Finally, I add that this is not about somehow trying to avoid paying for services rendered. I paid for all of the services, even though the two dogs were only half groomed. I generously tip. It is not like I was trying to get something for nothing. These facts in and of themselves expose the hollowness of the Petsmart corporate propaganda. If a corporation allows its grooming facilities to treat the ailing and elderly dogs of its paying customers in this way, how sincere can it really be about the cause of abandoned and inhumanely treated animals?

I took my 12 year old Yorkie mix to the Kentland's Pet Smart 2 months ago for a grooming. My girl has serious issues with having either her face/or her backside touched much less handled & I told the staff about the issues & they still agreed to at least try. I was called & told they couldn't do her face as short as I wanted because my dog was not handling it well which I appreciated them telling me & they reduced my grooming bill. They even recommended a vet who grooms special needs dogs who might need a sedative.
I appreciated the honesty and most of all the willingness to even try to groom my dog...who btw is blind in one eye, deaf & arthritic and the staff still agreed to try.

I am a groomer as well.. I have had to send a few request dogs to vets to be groomed as well. I didn't want to, but it became dangerous with the limitations in the salons. I have seen dogs that did wonderful for YEARS, all of a sudden start having seizures after or during the grooming process.. Stress can cause them to stop breathing suddenly.. LOTS of things change in an older dog.. I actually love working on old dogs.. I groomed my mothers 17 year old schnauzer before I became a groomer.. why? His groomer recommended the vet groom him.. and the vet recommend he be groomed at home, as even just the stress of the car ride had him dangerously overstimulated. Sometimes, it really is for the safety of the pet. (and others, for the safety of the groomer as well)

I work at this petsmart in the grooming salon, and I know exactly what dogs she's referring too. Yes all of her dogs were old, and yes we did recommended her to a vet because her dogs were becoming increasingly difficult to groom. We never told her we didn't accept dogs over 10 yrs old. We told her dogs over that age could be more difficult to groom due to various issues that can happen with older dogs. What she didn't tell you was that all of her dogs have a multitude of problems...some of them being...they're blind, deaf, hip problems, senile, easily stressed out( to the point where they pee and poop everywhere), came in badly matted almost every time, bite, thrash themselves around to the point where they almost fall off the table, or flat out don't like being groomed. Some of these issues had not always been there, some had, but all of the above can happen as dogs get older. Since she had 5 dogs, we even asked if she could possibly bring in 1 or 2 dogs at a time (instead of all 5) so that way they wouldn't be there all day (she requested a specific groomer for all her dogs)or even split them up amongst different groomers so it would be less stressful for them. And she said no. We did what we did for the health and benefit of the dogs! People need to understand we don't do things like that for no reason. Like groom mngr and Groomer715 said..it's not always about the paycheck! Yes, I work for a major corporation, and yes, ultimately the grooming salon is a business and businesses need to make money, BUT it's also about the health and welfare of the pets. As a "business" why would we want to "kick out" or "blackball" a customer who brings in her 5 dogs to be groomed every 2-3 months and spends over $400.00 every time? That groomer just lost $200.00 from they're paycheck. Why would they do that to themselves? That doesn't make any sense. To me the only other reason would be because it's for the dogs benefit not the owners. I totally agree with both groom mngr & Groomer715

You go Groomer715! Well said. I didn't know that PetSmart changed it's policy, ONCE AGAIN! I would think this dog owner would care enough about the dog to take it to a vet to be groomed. He may have to be sedated and monitored. I also groom cats as you do, and there have been a few times I have told the owner they need the vet for it. I refuse to stress any animal to the point they may be in danger to themselves.

OK first off we HAVE to give out those report cards as part of our job, if we're caught NOT doing it, automatic write up at my store. believe me the LAST thing i have time for is to stand there and fill out some stupid report telling you how "well" your dog did even if it acted like satans pet. i have more dogs to groom, more people to help, more phone calls to take and usually more pee to clean up somewhere. i can tell you everything you need to know in about 30 seconds while your standing there getting your bill. answer your questions if you have any and get back to work and get you going on your day and get your pet outside to the bathroom. as far as older dogs are concerned. NO dog over the age of 10 is allowed to be kennel dried, this presents a problem when the dog is old and doesnt like a dryer, doesnt want to stand up or needs frequent breaks, if you have a lazy groomer that is a different problem. In my experience some dogs are just too old to be groomed. you say they "cast out" your dog... ever think it was for the dogs own good? Dogs and in my case Cats do NOT act the same in the salon then when they are at home...they are also not happy and carefree and "lively" during their groom like they are when they walk out the door. but by all means if you want someone to groom your ailing dog, who is to old to be groomed, and cause them to have a seizure or a stroke or worse die in their care, complain more, they will change the rules maybe make an exception but dont say thay they didnt do anything to avoid it from happening. and by the way, one little complaint especially while someone is at work, can ruin the whole day so maybe think outside the "well this is making me a little unhappy" box and THINK about why they did what they did. not all of us are lazy and not all of us care but i can say that MOST groomers arent just in it for the paycheck, we actually like dogs, we dont like hurting them and we do whats best for them, even if that means mommy and daddy dont get their way...

It's really a shame. I welcome the old and handicapped dogs, the puppy mill rescues, any dog that needs the special handling and love. I do set my limits on aggressive dogs but most old dogs are pretty good, just unsteady and some are cranky. At an old age, they have earned the right to be cranky. I ain't no spring chicken and I get cranky too! I wonder if this is the decision of the individual salon or a new "rule" made by corporate. I will find out. Perhaps you should call around and visit a few local salons. Ask how they feel ab0ut older dogs, ask for referrals. Do some home work and pick a seasoned groomer that will take the time and provide the gentle treatment the geriatric dogs need. They are out there. Just make sure you pick the right one.

You are an idiot. When dogs get older, it because more difficult and more dangerous to groom them. Your dog is 15, i wouldn't want to groom it either. Your dog should be at home in a peaceful environment, not stressing out at a grooming salon. The older they are, the more stressful the situation is for them. You should be more concerned about how happy your dog is, rather than worrying about how beautiful its hair looks. You ignorant bitcch.

PetSmart constantly followed while shopping

Pet Smart on Thomas & 37th Street, Phoenix. The 1st time I went into the store I was shopping for cat food. As I turn to check out, I almost walked into security because he was that close watching me picking out catfood flavors. I had no idea how long he stood there. I say excuse me, go check-out & leave. The second time I go in, I first check to see if they have a certain cat-tree in the store I had seen online. It's about 5 1/2 ft tall & a little heavy. So I go back to get a cart & go back to pick up the tree. Out of the corner of my eye, the same security guard is watching me again. That's when I stopped & looked at him, then he went on like he was doing something. I'm not the only one in the store shopping, I'm just the only one who's black, so I guess that "sparked" a problem. Needless to say, I left the cat-tree there, I now shop at Petco.

Maybe you looked suspicious. Some people are naturally awkward while shopping. And if I have learned anything from retail, it's that anyone can shoplift regardless of race, age, or dress. At least he didn't stop you. Maybe he just sucks at being discreet.

PetSmart - grooming-policy

Took my dog in to get her nails done like I have every month for the last two years. Today, prior to the groomer taking my dog, I informed her that I needed to put a muzzle on her (like every time I have her nails done) just as a precaution. The groomer stated that she needed to be the one to put the muzzle on. Now, would you attempt to put a muzzle on a...

PetSmart pet contracts

C.A.R.E (Companion Animal Rescue Effort) - who are affiliated with Petsmart. We sadly learned something today. We would not suggest anyone buy a pet from them. Always read the fine print on the contract that you sign. You are adopting a pet from them, your name is the owner, but they have legal rights to the pet over you.
We almost got a dog this weekend. Our neighbor got a dog, 2 months ago from them - the contract says the dog is about 2 yrs old and her vet said the dog was more likely 8 years old. Big difference! Anyway, she was telling us about having some issues with the dog's indoor bathroom behavior, and that she had just called the company to let them know that she would be returning the dog the next day. We asked her if we could try the dog to see how she was with our pets and if okay, we could then adopt her. She called the place to say she wouldn't be returning the dog and they said she didn't have legal rights to the dog anymore and that she must return the dog or they would sue her. We went down there together the next day to discuss it, and they took the dog from her and wouldn't even let us adopt the dog. I expressed that I didn't think they couldn't just take her dog from her and they said that they legally could... it's in the contract. We were all upset. I got the impression that the workers at C.A.R.E. are only there for the money not the welfare of the dog. Truly, a poorly run company with a terrible contract. That poor dog was put back into a kennel and going to be out there to be re-adopted. I guarantee they will promote the dog with the false age and say nothing about the indoor bathroom issues, just to make money. I am sad to report that I will never shop in Petsmart again and if I would like to get another pet, I will definitely get one from a friend who dog had a litter or the pound, and then they are legally ours, period.

I agree that some places use contracts, and that is fine, but I would never go into that kind of binding contract. Obviously if we were wanting a pet and they present us with a contract, I would read it all over, that's what a contract is for - if I agree great, if I don't, then I won't get the pet, no problem. We love our pets, like we love our children and would never give them back if they had problems. It was our neighbor who signed the contract and we didn't see the harm in trying to help her out. It was purely from our heart. We didn't know the means of her contract. But, all is said and done, but we didn't deserve the attitude and bulliness from the people at C.A.R.E. - that was uncalled for.

I work with a rescue. In our contract, the adopter agrees to return the animal to us if they can't keep the animal for any reason. Why? Because we have found that otherwise, the animal can wind up in a situation that wouldn't be good for it. Thats not always the case, true, but I know at our organization, w hich is not perfect, but loves the animals and cares deeply for them, have the animals best interests at heart.
When you might be a fine person, the organization knows nothing about you. What if you were someone who had a short temper w ho might toss the animal out a window because it chewed up your mail (a recent case in the local paper). What if you just wanted the dog for a guard dog? What if you really didn't have the time to train the dog?
Most rescues work on little money but alot of love. Many rescue workers get into rescue because they love animals, and want the best home for them. To that end, they will move mountains.
The money on the adoption fee supports every animal in that rescue. I could tell your how much our rescue's vet bills are a month and you'd pass out. Thats not for food, kitty litter, light bills, etc, either.
So before you think harshly of a rescue, please consider that every person who's truly adopting because they love an animal and want to offer it a great home, they are most valued. They will often work to keep the animal in the home, and will do everything they can to make an adoption work.
I am sure you feel that a rescue is being extreme in the way they handle things, but remember, their goal is to care for, protect, and find the best home for that animal they can. And to remove it, if the situation changes from a situation that could be bad.

How very sad you think animal rescue is "in it for money." Rescues barely have enough money to get by because people dump dogs in shelters with all kinds of poor medical conditions. Rescues are left to do cleanup. Rescues ask their vets "How old is this dog?" Because most of the dogs go to shelters with no history since someone's carelessness let them run free or they didn't care enough to look for their dogs, rescues and their vets can only guess at the age. Just like your neighbor's vet guessed, so do rescue vets. Why should the rescue believe your neighbor's vet over their own? And when you sign a legally binding contract that says the dog must come back to the rescue, that is for the dog's protection. The mission of rescue is to save the lives of dogs in shelters. If rescue allowed adopters to rehome the dog, that next person could dump the dog and the rescue would have no knowledge. Rescues must ensure the dog is saved forever, not dumped again. What's the purpose in even having a rescue if that were allowed? Of course, there are contracts! And it's kind of funny the folks signed the contract and that quickly forgot what it said. I am with a rescue. We sued an adopter who gave away the dog adopted from us and we won. Not one person in our organization is an attorney, but we had attorneys lined up to represent us pro bono because they believe in the cause. So the "blowing smoke" comments are completely bogus. If you don't care about the plight of homeless dogs, go buy from a breeder and contribute to the problem. If you sign a contract, know what you're signing & abide by it. If you don't, it's your issue, not the fault of the rescue or the adoption venue (i.e., PetSmart in this case).

PetSmart groomin gservice

I went to petsmart on march 4 to get my dog groomed. My dog is old englosh sheepdog.in the morning around 9:30am, I called them to make a appointment and also asked for a quote. Idropped him off around 12:00, they let me sign a contract about dematting and the service price, and I did. They told me to pick him up around3:30. I arrived there around 3:40. They told me they still working on it and told me to wait one more hour. I saw him stand on the table quietly and the lady stand beside me told me that he is a good boy. Two hours passed, my baby dog was finally done, the groomer showed me some area might have skin irritation and I have to avoid him chewing and licking. The groomer also recommended a skin irritation spray for my dog. When I got my bill from the groomer, I was so shocked, it wasnt the price that I signed on the contract. I told them about the price, they said they put my dog under the wrond category, so the price went up $30 more. I clearly told them that I called them to check the price for three times and the price on the contract was same with the one I checked. The store manager gave me a really ugly look and reluctantly changed the price for me. After I got home, my family noticed that his body was all red, I explained the skin irritation to them and asked them to keep eyes on him. The next day, I noticed his ears were bleeding, his testis were bleeding, his bobtail had a serious hot spot and some other slashes all over his body. I took him to petsmart again, the store manager told me to see a vet and they gonna pay the vet bill for me. I went to the vet, they told me it was definetly caused by the groomer. I also discussed the contract I signed about dematting. But they still understand it was caused by the groomer. Then I took the vet bill to petsmart and wait for their call. Two weeks passed, I didnt receive any call from them. So I decided to call them 30 mins ago, they told me they dont believe it was caused by them, they believe all the wounds are caused by him chewing himself. It was so ridiculous, and their attitude was really bad. I am so disappointed about their service and attitude. It's like I trust them so I let them groom my dog but they ended up hurting my dog. They let me felt like I sign up a contract to kill my own son. And they dont even apologize to me. It's been two weeks already, he is still bleeding, his testis and his bobtail. They told me they are going to review my vet bill and probably return me the money but they also mentioned they never believe they was caused by them...

PetSmart grooming injury

My dog was groomed in the East Hartford Ct. store. She was cut and bruised. We ended up in the emergency room at midnight.. back again 6:00 A. M. next morning... I asked for just the $45 back in grooming fee. Did not even ask for $200 in Dr. bills and meds and they refused me. I am now very angry and am taking this to small claims court. I have informed my lawyer and we are moving forward with this immediately. My dog is just a year old tomorrow and is a Lhasa Apso

My daughter took her 4 pound Yorkie to the East Brunswick, NJ Petsmart for grooming as she did last year (without incident) for a summer cut. My daughter advised the groomer that he was very active so that they would be aware that he did not sit still and be cognizant of the difficulty when grooming him. But I guess they did not take heed and the result of it was that he was rushed to the veterinarian care unit they have within the store to care for the cut made in his nose during grooming. I can only say, thank God they have one there. The Vet couldn’t give him stitches because it was vascular so he had to put surgical glue on the cut area to try to stop the bleeding. They must have been very concerned because they kept him for several hours to monitor him before releasing him and made an appointment to see him again to make sure all was well. A professional groomer takes all precautions to assure the safety of the animal being groomed and yes, accidents happen to the best of us, but a professional should take all precautions necessary to see that none occur. Needless to say, my daughter will not return to Petsmart for grooming. However, I do want to compliment the Veterinarian that took care of him. P.S. My daughter was not charged for any of the services provided (as should not have been)

You're completely unprofessional, Groomer715. It's YOUR behavior that made me decide to never go to Petsmart for Grooming. I was looking for a new groomer because my local groomer for my Malamute recently retired, I can assure you she never cut him and he came home in perfect condition, nails trimmed, tufts between his toes trimmed. I paid her whatever she asked for. And he didn't shed for a minimum of 3 weeks. THAT'S a professional groomer, not some ultra-sensitive idiot who makes excuses like YOU. You should find a different profession, because YOU SUCK and so do you interpersonal skills.

ok first of all you try grooming your dog and see how it turns out, these are moving targets not stuffed animals... things happen and i can almost guarentee you asked for a #7 blade, which is the most dangerous blade you can use...and NO one laughed at you or smirked, its impossible unless your groomer was part of the manson family, im sure your groomer probably felt terrible and thanks for ruining peoples opinions of us before they try it out. Where do you work so i can post on here for people to never go there seeing as how you seem to be an ingnorant ###? accidents happen, dogs and cats are cut everyday and i assure you not on purpose... and for the st bernard, did you PAY for all that clipping to be done or are you one of those people who thinks ### needs to be given to you because of the steep price of a St. B?because a bather who is responsible for the BATH cant do any of those things. and who the hell cares if you used to show dogs? lol that should mean you know how to clip them, so stop being lazy and do it yourself.

Pets Mart is the worst grooming place on the block! I took my St.Bernard there for a bath and to be combed out as well. They wanted to shave her! I said "absolutely NOT! You do NOT shave a longhaired St.Bernard under any circumstances"! When I went to pick her up later that day, she was shedding worse than before I brought her in! Also, they trimmed her nails, but did not trim the wisps of hair on the pads of her feet, nor did they trim the wisps of hair growing around her toes. They also did not trim back any of the long hair on her ear flaps. I gave them specific instructions on what I wanted done, and it was ignored. I told them that I bet they didnt know that I used to show these dogs, and it is really sad when a customer knows how to groom a certain breed of dog better than a professional! I will never do business with them again, as this occurred on more than one ocassion.

PetSmart grooming horror story!

I took my 5 lb Yorkiepoo, Tyke to the Petsmart groomer. About an hour later I got a phone call saying that Tyke was taken to the Vet inside the store. The manager explained that he was "knicked" with the clippers behind the ear. We rushed to the store where they wouldn't let us see Tyke. We waited for awhile until the manger came out n explained that Tyke was cut on the back of the neck... A little while later the doctor came out and explained that Tyke had a cut on the back of his neck larger than a quarter! They had to put him to sleep and shove a tube down his throat and attempt to stitch a circle closed. Now were waiting. And wondering how do you cut a hole the size of a quater with a gaurd on clippers?! Do NOT use PETSMART groomers!

Awww. Poor dog. I hope he's healed up alright. My mom and I took our mini aussies to petsmart to have them shaved, once, and they came out fine. The only thing that bugged me were the stands with the ropes. Dogs can easily hang themselves with those things. All they have to do is step off the edge when the groomer is not looking or get freaked out and try to run off. Perhaps your dog spooked and turned his head when the groomer went to groom his ears. Some dogs can be jumpy, especially if there's a stranger holding something noisy and/or sharp near them. Next time, pleas stay and watch the groomer. You will not only see how the groomer does their job, but you will also make your dog feel more secure. That's what my mom and I did, especially since the littlest aussie was skittish and the larger aussie was getting shaved for the first time.

PetSmart horrible product and service

I bought a food at PetsMart in Orland Hills 3 weeks ago that had expired 5 month prior (Didnt think I had to check the expiration date) and fed it to my dog for 2 weeks before I realized it was infested with bugs that were burrowing in the food pellets! I called the store who told me to load the 34pd bag of bugs into my car and bring it back so they can swap it out for another bag then called the corporate office and never recieved a call back in the 3-5 business days as explained was protocol. No one ever asked how the dog was... one woman had the nerve to say "If the dog dies, call us so we can note the file"! Yeah, THAT HAPPENED! I have yet to get a call from them even though I have called them 5 times now!

I think you are lying and just want some compensation. Petsmart is nothing but a bunch of brown nosers. You sound like a gold digger. Picking the wrong place to do it no doubt. Most are on to you with this kind of stuff. Move along. Go slip on a floor or stage a car accident... thats the money you want. lol. And no do not work for petsmart... just see through you. Simply pathetic. And your dog did not die from eating expired food. Did you not see bugs while putting it in the dogs bowl? Come on... Why be such a loser? And whats even worse is people such as the dumb dumb who commented before. Come on... if it sounds fishy... usually is!

That's horrible. I'm with you on loading a bag of bugs into my car...NEVER. I wouldn't think they would want the bag in their store to infest other food. They should have told you to bring in the part of the bag with the expiration date on it as well as the UPC code. That should have been enough. If I was the manager that would have been.

Keep calling. Keep the names, dates and times every time you do.

PetSmart dog

My dog is a shnug, a small to medium size dog, still a puppy, 9 months old, not hard to groom but I still like to take him to get it professionaly done, I have taken him two times before this to my local petsmart which when I say local I mean a half hour away from me! His apointment was 12:30 in the afternoon, since I dont live fairly close to them I choose not to waste the gas and stay around the area and wait. I got there around 12:15 and checked him in and they told me it would be about 4 hours. No problem. I left and waited and waited for them to call me to tell me my puppy was done getting groomed. Around 4:00 pm I get worried and went back, I asked where my dog is and they tell me he is not even there! They check and yes he was there, sitting in a damn cage for over 4 hours because at that time it was on 4:30. Not only was my dog not groomed but they tried to give me an excuse of a hose being in front of the cage? (I never cage my dog for any reason) I dont understand how a dog goes unseen for that long. I was told someone tried to call me, but that was a lie because I recieved no call. The woman who checked me in was also still there when I was leaving, you would think that she would have noticed as well when they were saying he was a no show, or when they were supposivly trying to contact me, or even maybe told the woman who was actually a groomer that her 12:30 had arrived! But no. The manager came and apologized and offered a free groom the following day, which is another half hour there and back but the wait for him again! I feel like that is no were near enough owed to me. I am highly pissed. I do not recomend anyone to take there dog there again without assuring they know your damn dog is there!
